ced6a58638 crypto: dh - Remove pointless checks for NULL 'p' and 'g'
Neither 'p' nor 'g' can be NULL, as they were unpacked using
crypto_dh_decode_key(). And it makes no sense for them to be optional.
So remove the NULL checks that were copy-and-pasted into both modules.

ccd9888f14 crypto: dh - Don't permit 'key' or 'g' size longer than 'p'
The "qat-dh" DH implementation assumes that 'key' and 'g' can be copied
into a buffer with size 'p_size'. However it was never checked that
that was actually the case, which most likely allowed users to cause a
buffer underflow via KEYCTL_DH_COMPUTE.

Fix this by updating crypto_dh_decode_key() to verify this precondition
for all DH implementations.

199512b123 crypto: dh - Don't permit 'p' to be 0
If 'p' is 0 for the software Diffie-Hellman implementation, then
dh_max_size() returns 0. In the case of KEYCTL_DH_COMPUTE, this causes
ZERO_SIZE_PTR to be passed to sg_init_one(), which with
CONFIG_DEBUG_SG=y triggers the 'BUG_ON(!virt_addr_valid(buf));' in
sg_set_buf().

Fix this by making crypto_dh_decode_key() reject 0 for 'p'. p=0 makes
no sense for any DH implementation because 'p' is supposed to be a prime
number. Moreover, 'mod 0' is not mathematically defined.

12d41a023e crypto: dh - Fix double free of ctx->p
When setting the secret with the software Diffie-Hellman implementation,
if allocating 'g' failed (e.g. if it was longer than
MAX_EXTERN_MPI_BITS), then 'p' was freed twice: once immediately, and
once later when the crypto_kpp tfm was destroyed.

Fix it by using dh_free_ctx() (renamed to dh_clear_ctx()) in the error
paths, as that correctly sets the pointers to NULL.

6b80ea389a crypto: change transient busy return code to -ENOSPC
The crypto API was using the -EBUSY return value to indicate
both a hard failure to submit a crypto operation into a
transformation provider when the latter was busy and the backlog
mechanism was not enabled as well as a notification that the
operation was queued into the backlog when the backlog mechanism
was enabled.

Having the same return code indicate two very different conditions
depending on a flag is both error prone and requires extra runtime
check like the following to discern between the cases:

	if (err == -EINPROGRESS ||
	    (err == -EBUSY && (ahash_request_flags(req) &
			       CRYPTO_TFM_REQ_MAY_BACKLOG)))

This patch changes the return code used to indicate a crypto op
failed due to the transformation provider being transiently busy
to -ENOSPC.

441f99c904 crypto: ccm - preserve the IV buffer
The IV buffer used during CCM operations is used twice, during both the
hashing step and the ciphering step.

When using a hardware accelerator that updates the contents of the IV
buffer at the end of ciphering operations, the value will be modified.
In the decryption case, the subsequent setup of the hashing algorithm
will interpret the updated IV instead of the original value, which can
lead to out-of-bounds writes.

Reuse the idata buffer, only used in the hashing step, to preserve the
IV's value during the ciphering step in the decryption case.

Greg Kroah-Hartman
b24413180f License cleanup: add SPDX GPL-2.0 license identifier to files with no license
Many source files in the tree are missing licensing information, which
makes it harder for compliance tools to determine the correct license.

By default all files without license information are under the default
license of the kernel, which is GPL version 2.

Update the files which contain no license information with the 'GPL-2.0'
SPDX license identifier. The SPDX identifier is a legally binding
shorthand, which can be used instead of the full boiler plate text.

This patch is based on work done by Thomas Gleixner and Kate Stewart and
Philippe Ombredanne.

How this work was done:

Patches were generated and checked against linux-4.14-rc6 for a subset of
the use cases:
 - file had no licensing information it it.
 - file was a */uapi/* one with no licensing information in it,
 - file was a */uapi/* one with existing licensing information,

Further patches will be generated in subsequent months to fix up cases
where non-standard license headers were used, and references to license
had to be inferred by heuristics based on keywords.

The analysis to determine which SPDX License Identifier to be applied to
a file was done in a spreadsheet of side by side results from of the
output of two independent scanners (ScanCode & Windriver) producing SPDX
tag:value files created by Philippe Ombredanne. Philippe prepared the
base worksheet, and did an initial spot review of a few 1000 files.

The 4.13 kernel was the starting point of the analysis with 60,537 files
assessed. Kate Stewart did a file by file comparison of the scanner
results in the spreadsheet to determine which SPDX license identifier(s)
to be applied to the file. She confirmed any determination that was not
immediately clear with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Criteria used to select files for SPDX license identifier tagging was:
 - Files considered eligible had to be source code files.
 - Make and config files were included as candidates if they contained >5
   lines of source
 - File already had some variant of a license header in it (even if <5
   lines).

All documentation files were explicitly excluded.

The following heuristics were used to determine which SPDX license
identifiers to apply.

 - when both scanners couldn't find any license traces, file was
considered to have no license information in it, and the top level
   COPYING file license applied.

For non */uapi/* files that summary was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 11139

and resulted in the first patch in this series.

If that file was a */uapi/* path one, it was "GPL-2.0 WITH
Linux-syscall-note" otherwise it was "GPL-2.0". Results of that was:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|-------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 930

and resulted in the second patch in this series.

 - if a file had some form of licensing information in it, and was one
of the */uapi/* ones, it was denoted with the Linux-syscall-note if
any GPL family license was found in the file or had no licensing in
it (per prior point). Results summary:

   SPDX license identifier # files
   ---------------------------------------------------|------
   GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note 270
   GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 169
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-2-Clause) 21
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 17
   LGPL-2.1+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 15
   GPL-1.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 14
   ((GPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR BSD-3-Clause) 5
   LGPL-2.0+ WITH Linux-syscall-note 4
   LGPL-2.1 WITH Linux-syscall-note 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) OR MIT) 3
   ((GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note) AND MIT) 1

and that resulted in the third patch in this series.

 - when the two scanners agreed on the detected license(s), that became
   the concluded license(s).

 - when there was disagreement between the two scanners (one detected a
license but the other didn't, or they both detected different
licenses) a manual inspection of the file occurred.

 - In most cases a manual inspection of the information in the file
resulted in a clear resolution of the license that should apply (and
which scanner probably needed to revisit its heuristics).

 - When it was not immediately clear, the license identifier was
confirmed with lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

 - If there was any question as to the appropriate license identifier,
the file was flagged for further research and to be revisited later
   in time.

In total, over 70 hours of logged manual review was done on the
spreadsheet to determine the SPDX license identifiers to apply to the
source files by Kate, Philippe, Thomas and, in some cases, confirmation
by lawyers working with the Linux Foundation.

Kate also obtained a third independent scan of the 4.13 code base from
FOSSology, and compared selected files where the other two scanners
disagreed against that SPDX file, to see if there was new insights. The
Windriver scanner is based on an older version of FOSSology in part, so
they are related.

Thomas did random spot checks in about 500 files from the spreadsheets
for the uapi headers and agreed with SPDX license identifier in the
files he inspected. For the non-uapi files Thomas did random spot checks
in about 15000 files.

In initial set of patches against 4.14-rc6, 3 files were found to have
copy/paste license identifier errors, and have been fixed to reflect the
correct identifier.

Additionally Philippe spent 10 hours this week doing a detailed manual
inspection and review of the 12,461 patched files from the initial patch
version early this week with:
 - a full scancode scan run, collecting the matched texts, detected
   license ids and scores
 - reviewing anything where there was a license detected (about 500+
files) to ensure that the applied SPDX license was correct
 - reviewing anything where there was no detection but the patch license
was not GPL-2.0 WITH Linux-syscall-note to ensure that the applied
   SPDX license was correct

This produced a worksheet with 20 files needing minor correction. This
worksheet was then exported into 3 different .csv files for the
different types of files to be modified.

These .csv files were then reviewed by Greg. Thomas wrote a script to
parse the csv files and add the proper SPDX tag to the file, in the
format that the file expected. This script was further refined by Greg
based on the output to detect more types of files automatically and to
distinguish between header and source .c files (which need different
comment types.) Finally Greg ran the script using the .csv files to
generate the patches.

to the one below, with the exception that 'walk.stride' is used rather

Split out the following common code from recvmsg:

af_alg_alloc_areq: allocation of the request data structure for the
cipher operation

af_alg_get_rsgl: creation of the RX SGL anchored in the request data
structure

The following changes to the implementation without affecting the
functionality have been applied to synchronize slightly different code
bases in algif_skcipher and algif_aead:

The wakeup in af_alg_wait_for_data is triggered when either more data
is received or the indicator that more data is to be expected is
released. The first is triggered by user space, the second is
triggered by the kernel upon finishing the processing of data
(i.e. the kernel is ready for more).

af_alg_sendmsg uses size_t in min_t calculation for obtaining len.
Return code determination is consistent with algif_skcipher. The
scope of the variable i is reduced to match algif_aead. The type of the
variable i is switched from int to unsigned int to match algif_aead.

af_alg_sendpage does not contain the superfluous err = 0 from
aead_sendpage.

af_alg_async_cb requires to store the number of output bytes in
areq->outlen before the AIO callback is triggered.

The POLLIN / POLLRDNORM is now set when either not more data is given or
the kernel is supplied with data. This is consistent to the wakeup from
sleep when the kernel waits for data.

The request data structure is extended by the field last_rsgl which
points to the last RX SGL list entry. This shall help recvmsg
implementation to chain the RX SGL to other SG(L)s if needed. It is
currently used by algif_aead which chains the tag SGL to the RX SGL
during decryption.

When UBSAN is enabled, we get a very large stack frame for
__serpent_setkey, when the register allocator ends up using more registers
than it has, and has to spill temporary values to the stack. The code
was originally optimized for in-order x86-32 CPU implementations using
older compilers, but it now runs into a highly suboptimal case on all
CPU architectures, as seen by this warning:

crypto/serpent_generic.c: In function '__serpent_setkey':
crypto/serpent_generic.c:436:1: error: the frame size of 2720 bytes is larger than 2048 bytes [-Werror=frame-larger-than=]

Disabling -fsanitize=alignment would avoid that warning, presumably the
option turns off a optimization step that is required for getting the
register allocation right, but there is no easy way to do that on gcc-7
(gcc-8 introduces a function attribute for this).

I tried to figure out a way to modify the source code instead, and noticed
that the two stages of the setkey() function (keyiter and sbox) each are
fine by themselves, but not when combined into one function. Splitting
out the entire sbox into a separate function also happens to work fine
with all compilers I tried (arm, arm64 and x86).

The setkey function uses a strange way to handle offsets into the key
array, using both negative and positive index values, as well as adjusting
the array pointer back and forth. I have checked that this actually
makes no difference to modern compilers, but I left that untouched
to make the patch easier to review and to keep the code closer to
the reference implementation.

72548b093e crypto: algif_aead - copy AAD from src to dst
Use the NULL cipher to copy the AAD and PT/CT from the TX SGL
to the RX SGL. This allows an in-place crypto operation on the
RX SGL for encryption, because the TX data is always smaller or
equal to the RX data (the RX data will hold the tag).

For decryption, a per-request TX SGL is created which will only hold
the tag value. As the RX SGL will have no space for the tag value and
an in-place operation will not write the tag buffer, the TX SGL with the
tag value is chained to the RX SGL. This now allows an in-place
crypto operation.

45fe93dff2 crypto: algapi - make crypto_xor() take separate dst and src arguments
There are quite a number of occurrences in the kernel of the pattern

  if (dst != src)
          memcpy(dst, src, walk.total % AES_BLOCK_SIZE);
  crypto_xor(dst, final, walk.total % AES_BLOCK_SIZE);

or

  crypto_xor(keystream, src, nbytes);
  memcpy(dst, keystream, nbytes);

where crypto_xor() is preceded or followed by a memcpy() invocation
that is only there because crypto_xor() uses its output parameter as
one of the inputs. To avoid having to add new instances of this pattern
in the arm64 code, which will be refactored to implement non-SIMD
fallbacks, add an alternative implementation called crypto_xor_cpy(),
taking separate input and output arguments. This removes the need for
the separate memcpy().

The scompress code allocates 2 x 128 KB of scratch buffers for each CPU,
so that clients of the async API can use synchronous implementations
even from atomic context. However, on systems such as Cavium Thunderx
(which has 96 cores), this adds up to a non-negligible 24 MB. Also,
32-bit systems may prefer to use their precious vmalloc space for other
things, especially since there don't appear to be any clients for the
async compression API yet.

So let's defer allocation of the scratch buffers until the first time

d887c52d6a crypto: algif_aead - overhaul memory management
The updated memory management is described in the top part of the code.
As one benefit of the changed memory management, the AIO and synchronous
operation is now implemented in one common function. The AF_ALG
operation uses the async kernel crypto API interface for each cipher
operation. Thus, the only difference between the AIO and sync operation
types visible from user space is:

1. the callback function to be invoked when the asynchronous operation
   is completed

2. whether to wait for the completion of the kernel crypto API operation
   or not

The change includes the overhaul of the TX and RX SGL handling. The TX
SGL holding the data sent from user space to the kernel is now dynamic
similar to algif_skcipher. This dynamic nature allows a continuous
operation of a thread sending data and a second thread receiving the
data. These threads do not need to synchronize as the kernel processes
as much data from the TX SGL to fill the RX SGL.

The caller reading the data from the kernel defines the amount of data
to be processed. Considering that the interface covers AEAD
authenticating ciphers, the reader must provide the buffer in the
correct size. Thus the reader defines the encryption size.

In addition, the code structure is adjusted to match the structure of
algif_aead for easier code assessment.

The user space interface changed slightly as follows: the old AIO
operation returned zero upon success and < 0 in case of an error to user
space. As all other AF_ALG interfaces (including the sync skcipher
interface) returned the number of processed bytes upon success and < 0
in case of an error, the new skcipher interface (regardless of AIO or
sync) returns the number of processed bytes in case of success.

41cdf7a453 crypto: authencesn - Fix digest_null crash
When authencesn is used together with digest_null a crash will
occur on the decrypt path. This is because normally we perform
a special setup to preserve the ESN, but this is skipped if there

it always expects the preservation to be in place, thus causing
a crash when digest_null is used.

This patch fixes this by also skipping the post-processing when
there is no authentication.

crypto: af_alg - Avoid sock_graft call warning

The newly added sock_graft warning triggers in af_alg_accept.
It's harmless as we're essentially doing sock->sk = sock->sk.

The sock_graft call is actually redundant because all the work
it does is subsumed by sock_init_data. However, it was added
to placate SELinux as it uses it to initialise its internal state.

This patch avoisd the warning by making the SELinux call directly.

This patch uses refcount_inc_not_zero() instead of
atomic_inc_not_zero_hint() due to absense of a _hint()
version of refcount API. If the hint() version must
be used, we might need to revisit API.

The tcrypt AEAD cycles speed tests disables irqs during the test, which is

'1425d2d17f7309c6 ("crypto: tcrypt - Fix AEAD speed tests")'
adds a wait for completion as part of the test and probably since
switching to the new AEAD API.

While the result of taking a cycle count diff may not mean much on SMP
systems if the task migrates, it's good enough for tcrypt being the quick
& dirty dev tool it is. It's also what all the other (i.e. hash) cycle
speed tests do.

baae03a0e2 async_tx: Fix DMA_PREP_FENCE usage in do_async_gen_syndrome()
The DMA_PREP_FENCE is to be used when preparing Tx descriptor if output
of Tx descriptor is to be used by next/dependent Tx descriptor.

The DMA_PREP_FENSE will not be set correctly in do_async_gen_syndrome()
when calling dma->device_prep_dma_pq() under following conditions:
1. ASYNC_TX_FENCE not set in submit->flags
2. DMA_PREP_FENCE not set in dma_flags
3. src_cnt (= (disks - 2)) is greater than dma_maxpq(dma, dma_flags)

752ade68cb treewide: use kv[mz]alloc* rather than opencoded variants
There are many code paths opencoding kvmalloc. Let's use the helper
instead. The main difference to kvmalloc is that those users are
usually not considering all the aspects of the memory allocator. E.g.
allocation requests <= 32kB (with 4kB pages) are basically never failing
and invoke OOM killer to satisfy the allocation. This sounds too
disruptive for something that has a reasonable fallback - the vmalloc.
On the other hand those requests might fallback to vmalloc even when the
memory allocator would succeed after several more reclaim/compaction
attempts previously. There is no guarantee something like that happens
though.

This patch converts many of those places to kv[mz]alloc* helpers because
they are more conservative.

e6534aebb2 crypto: algif_aead - Fix bogus request dereference in completion function
The algif_aead completion function tries to deduce the aead_request
from the crypto_async_request argument. This is broken because
the API does not guarantee that the same request will be pased to

in the completion function.

This patch fixes it by storing a pointer to sk in areq and using
that instead of passing in sk through req->data.

ef0579b64e crypto: ahash - Fix EINPROGRESS notification callback
The ahash API modifies the request's callback function in order
to clean up after itself in some corner cases (unaligned final
and missing finup).

When the request is complete ahash will restore the original
callback and everything is fine. However, when the request gets
an EBUSY on a full queue, an EINPROGRESS callback is made while
the request is still ongoing.

In this case the ahash API will incorrectly call its own callback.

This patch fixes the problem by creating a temporary request
object on the stack which is used to relay EINPROGRESS back to
the original completion function.

This patch also adds code to preserve the original flags value.

acb9b159c7 crypto: gf128mul - define gf128mul_x_* in gf128mul.h
The gf128mul_x_ble function is currently defined in gf128mul.c, because
it depends on the gf128mul_table_be multiplication table.

However, since the function is very small and only uses two values from
the table, it is better for it to be defined as inline function in
gf128mul.h. That way, the function can be inlined by the compiler for
better performance.

For consistency, the other gf128mul_x_* functions are also moved to the
header file. In addition, the code is rewritten to be constant-time.

After this change, the speed of the generic 'xts(aes)' implementation
increased from ~225 MiB/s to ~235 MiB/s (measured using 'cryptsetup
benchmark -c aes-xts-plain64' on an Intel system with CRYPTO_AES_X86_64

aaf66c8838 KEYS: Split role of the keyring pointer for keyring restrict functions
The first argument to the restrict_link_func_t functions was a keyring
pointer. These functions are called by the key subsystem with this
argument set to the destination keyring, but restrict_link_by_signature
expects a pointer to the relevant trusted keyring.

Restrict functions may need something other than a single struct key
pointer to allow or reject key linkage, so the data used to make that
decision (such as the trust keyring) is moved to a new, fourth
argument. The first argument is now always the destination keyring.

9df0eb180c crypto: xts,lrw - fix out-of-bounds write after kmalloc failure
In the generic XTS and LRW algorithms, for input data > 128 bytes, a
temporary buffer is allocated to hold the values to be XOR'ed with the
data before and after encryption or decryption. If the allocation
fails, the fixed-size buffer embedded in the request buffer is meant to
be used as a fallback --- resulting in more calls to the ECB algorithm,
but still producing the correct result. However, we weren't correctly
limiting subreq->cryptlen in this case, resulting in pre_crypt()
overrunning the embedded buffer. Fix this by setting subreq->cryptlen

Lockdep issues a circular dependency warning when AFS issues an operation
through AF_RXRPC from a context in which the VFS/VM holds the mmap_sem.

The theory lockdep comes up with is as follows:

 (1) If the pagefault handler decides it needs to read pages from AFS, it
calls AFS with mmap_sem held and AFS begins an AF_RXRPC call, but
creating a call requires the socket lock:

mmap_sem must be taken before sk_lock-AF_RXRPC

 (2) afs_open_socket() opens an AF_RXRPC socket and binds it. rxrpc_bind()
binds the underlying UDP socket whilst holding its socket lock.
inet_bind() takes its own socket lock:

sk_lock-AF_RXRPC must be taken before sk_lock-AF_INET

 (3) Reading from a TCP socket into a userspace buffer might cause a fault
and thus cause the kernel to take the mmap_sem, but the TCP socket is
     locked whilst doing this:

sk_lock-AF_INET must be taken before mmap_sem

However, lockdep's theory is wrong in this instance because it deals only
with lock classes and not individual locks. The AF_INET lock in (2) isn't
really equivalent to the AF_INET lock in (3) as the former deals with a
socket entirely internal to the kernel that never sees userspace. This is
a limitation in the design of lockdep.

Fix the general case by:

 (1) Double up all the locking keys used in sockets so that one set are
used if the socket is created by userspace and the other set is used
if the socket is created by the kernel.

 (2) Store the kern parameter passed to sk_alloc() in a variable in the
sock struct (sk_kern_sock). This informs sock_lock_init(),
sock_init_data() and sk_clone_lock() as to the lock keys to be used.

Note that the child created by sk_clone_lock() inherits the parent's
     kern setting.

 (3) Add a 'kern' parameter to ->accept() that is analogous to the one
passed in to ->create() that distinguishes whether kernel_accept() or
sys_accept4() was the caller and can be passed to sk_alloc().

Note that a lot of accept functions merely dequeue an already
allocated socket. I haven't touched these as the new socket already
exists before we get the parameter.

Note also that there are a couple of places where I've made the accepted
     socket unconditionally kernel-based:

	irda_accept()
	rds_rcp_accept_one()
	tcp_accept_from_sock()

because they follow a sock_create_kern() and accept off of that.

Whilst creating this, I noticed that lustre and ocfs don't create sockets
through sock_create_kern() and thus they aren't marked as for-kernel,
though they appear to be internal. I wonder if these should do that so
that they use the new set of lock keys.

d2c2a85cfe crypto: ctr - Propagate NEED_FALLBACK bit
When requesting a fallback algorithm, we should propagate the
NEED_FALLBACK bit when search for the underlying algorithm.

This will prevents drivers from allocating unnecessary fallbacks that

the following chain of calls when calling the fallback implementation:

p8_aes_ctr -> ctr(p8_aes) -> aes-generic

However p8_aes will always delegate its calls to aes-generic. With this

Per Ard,

"CCM IVs are 16 bytes, but due to the way they are constructed

Apparently, we do read all 16 bytes, which triggers the KASAN errors."

Fix this by padding the IV with null bytes to be at least 16 bytes.

So move idata/odata back to the request ctx struct, of which we can

db91af0fbe crypto: algapi - make crypto_xor() and crypto_inc() alignment agnostic
Instead of unconditionally forcing 4 byte alignment for all generic
chaining modes that rely on crypto_xor() or crypto_inc() (which may
result in unnecessary copying of data when the underlying hardware
can perform unaligned accesses efficiently), make those functions
deal with unaligned input explicitly, but only if the Kconfig symbol
HAVE_EFFICIENT_UNALIGNED_ACCESS is set. This will allow us to drop
the alignmasks from the CBC, CMAC, CTR, CTS, PCBC and SEQIV drivers.

For crypto_inc(), this simply involves making the 4-byte stride
conditional on HAVE_EFFICIENT_UNALIGNED_ACCESS being set, given that
it typically operates on 16 byte buffers.

For crypto_xor(), an algorithm is implemented that simply runs through
the input using the largest strides possible if unaligned accesses are
allowed. If they are not, an optimal sequence of memory accesses is
emitted that takes the relative alignment of the input buffers into
account, e.g., if the relative misalignment of dst and src is 4 bytes,
the entire xor operation will be completed using 4 byte loads and stores
(modulo unaligned bits at the start and end). Note that all expressions
involving misalign are simply eliminated by the compiler when
HAVE_EFFICIENT_UNALIGNED_ACCESS is defined.

7d6e910502 crypto: improve gcc optimization flags for serpent and wp512
An ancient gcc bug (first reported in 2003) has apparently resurfaced
on MIPS, where kernelci.org reports an overly large stack frame in the
whirlpool hash algorithm:

crypto/wp512.c:987:1: warning: the frame size of 1112 bytes is larger than 1024 bytes [-Wframe-larger-than=]

With some testing in different configurations, I'm seeing large
variations in stack frames size up to 1500 bytes for what should have
around 300 bytes at most. I also checked the reference implementation,
which is essentially the same code but also comes with some test and
benchmarking infrastructure.

It seems that recent compiler versions on at least arm, arm64 and powerpc
have a partial fix for this problem, but enabling "-fsched-pressure", but
even with that fix they suffer from the issue to a certain degree. Some
testing on arm64 shows that the time needed to hash a given amount of
data is roughly proportional to the stack frame size here, which makes
sense given that the wp512 implementation is doing lots of loads for
table lookups, and the problem with the overly large stack is a result
of doing a lot more loads and stores for spilled registers (as seen from
inspecting the object code).

Disabling -fschedule-insns consistently fixes the problem for wp512,
in my collection of cross-compilers, the results are consistently better
or identical when comparing the stack sizes in this function, though
some architectures (notable x86) have schedule-insns disabled by
default.

The four columns are:
default: -O2
press: -O2 -fsched-pressure
nopress: -O2 -fschedule-insns -fno-sched-pressure
nosched: -O2 -no-schedule-insns (disables sched-pressure)

I did not do any runtime tests with serpent, so it is possible that stack
frame size does not directly correlate with runtime performance here and
it actually makes things worse, but it's more likely to help here, and
the reduced stack frame size is probably enough reason to apply the patch,
especially given that the crypto code is often used in deep call chains.

f15f05b0a5 crypto: ccm - switch to separate cbcmac driver
Update the generic CCM driver to defer CBC-MAC processing to a
dedicated CBC-MAC ahash transform rather than open coding this
transform (and much of the associated scatterwalk plumbing) in
the CCM driver itself.

This cleans up the code considerably, but more importantly, it allows
the use of alternative CBC-MAC implementations that don't suffer from
performance degradation due to significant setup time (e.g., the NEON
based AES code needs to enable/disable the NEON, and load the S-box
into 16 SIMD registers, which cannot be amortized over the entire input
when using the cipher interface)

b5e0b032b6 crypto: aes - add generic time invariant AES cipher
Lookup table based AES is sensitive to timing attacks, which is due to
the fact that such table lookups are data dependent, and the fact that
8 KB worth of tables covers a significant number of cachelines on any
architecture, resulting in an exploitable correlation between the key
and the processing time for known plaintexts.

For network facing algorithms such as CTR, CCM or GCM, this presents a
security risk, which is why arch specific AES ports are typically time
invariant, either through the use of special instructions, or by using
SIMD algorithms that don't rely on table lookups.

For generic code, this is difficult to achieve without losing too much
performance, but we can improve the situation significantly by switching
to an implementation that only needs 256 bytes of table data (the actual
S-box itself), which can be prefetched at the start of each block to
eliminate data dependent latencies.

This code encrypts at ~25 cycles per byte on ARM Cortex-A57 (while the
ordinary generic AES driver manages 18 cycles per byte on this
hardware). Decryption is substantially slower.

ec38a93761 crypto: aes-generic - drop alignment requirement
The generic AES code exposes a 32-bit align mask, which forces all
users of the code to use temporary buffers or take other measures to
ensure the alignment requirement is adhered to, even on architectures
that don't care about alignment for software algorithms such as this
one.

So drop the align mask, and fix the code to use get_unaligned_le32()
where appropriate, which will resolve to whatever is optimal for the
architecture.

21c8e72037 crypto: testmgr - use calculated count for number of test vectors
When working on AES in CCM mode for ARM, my code passed the internal
tcrypt test before I had even bothered to implement the AES-192 and
AES-256 code paths, which is strange because the tcrypt does contain
AES-192 and AES-256 test vectors for CCM.

As it turned out, the define AES_CCM_ENC_TEST_VECTORS was out of sync
with the actual number of test vectors, causing only the AES-128 ones
to be executed.

So get rid of the defines, and wrap the test vector references in a
macro that calculates the number of vectors automatically.

The following test vector counts were out of sync with the respective
defines:

    BF_CTR_ENC_TEST_VECTORS          2 ->  3
    BF_CTR_DEC_TEST_VECTORS          2 ->  3

e93acd6f67 crypto: testmgr - Allocate only the required output size for hash tests
There are some hashes (e.g. sha224) that have some internal trickery
to make sure that only the correct number of output bytes are
generated. If something goes wrong, they could potentially overrun
the output buffer.

Make the test more robust by allocating only enough space for the
correct output size so that memory debugging will catch the error if
the output is overrun.

Tested by intentionally breaking sha224 to output all 256
internally-generated bits while running on KASAN.

d8c34b949d crypto: Replaced gcc specific attributes with macros from compiler.h
Continuing from this commit: 52f5684c8e
("kernel: use macros from compiler.h instead of __attribute__((...))")

I submitted 4 total patches. They are part of task I've taken up to
increase compiler portability in the kernel. I've cleaned up the
subsystems under /kernel /mm /block and /security, this patch targets
/crypto.

There is <linux/compiler.h> which provides macros for various gcc specific
constructs. Eg: __weak for __attribute__((weak)). I've cleaned all
instances of gcc specific attributes with the right macros for the crypto
subsystem.

I had to make one additional change into compiler-gcc.h for the case when
one wants to use this: __attribute__((aligned) and not specify an alignment
factor. From the gcc docs, this will result in the largest alignment for
that data type on the target machine so I've named the macro
__aligned_largest. Please advise if another name is more appropriate.

c821f6ab2e crypto: skcipher - introduce walksize attribute for SIMD algos
In some cases, SIMD algorithms can only perform optimally when
allowed to operate on multiple input blocks in parallel. This is
especially true for bit slicing algorithms, which typically take
the same amount of time processing a single block or 8 blocks in
parallel. However, other SIMD algorithms may benefit as well from
bigger strides.

So add a walksize attribute to the skcipher algorithm definition, and
wire it up to the skcipher walk API. To avoid confusion between the
skcipher and AEAD attributes, rename the skcipher_walk chunksize
attribute to 'stride', and set it from the walksize (in the skcipher
case) or from the chunksize (in the AEAD case).

18e615ad87 crypto: skcipher - fix crash in virtual walk
The new skcipher walk API may crash in the following way. (Interestingly,
the tcrypt boot time tests seem unaffected, while an explicit test using
the module triggers it)

  [<ffff0000080836f0>] el0_svc_naked+0x24/0x28

This is due to the fact that skcipher_done_slow() may be entered with
walk->buffer unset. Since skcipher_walk_done() already deals with the
case where walk->buffer == walk->page, it appears to be the intention
that walk->buffer point to walk->page after skcipher_next_slow(), so
ensure that is the case.

04b46fbdea crypto: testmgr - fix overlap in chunked tests again
Commit 7e4c7f17cd ("crypto: testmgr - avoid overlap in chunked tests")
attempted to address a problem in the crypto testmgr code where chunked
test cases are copied to memory in a way that results in overlap.

However, the fix recreated the exact same issue for other chunked tests,
by putting IDX3 within 492 bytes of IDX1, which causes overlap if the
first chunk exceeds 492 bytes, which is the case for at least one of
the xts(aes) test cases.

So increase IDX3 by another 1000 bytes.

48a992727d crypto: mcryptd - Check mcryptd algorithm compatibility
Algorithms not compatible with mcryptd could be spawned by mcryptd
with a direct crypto_alloc_tfm invocation using a "mcryptd(alg)" name
construct. This causes mcryptd to crash the kernel if an arbitrary
"alg" is incompatible and not intended to be used with mcryptd. It is
an issue if AF_ALG tries to spawn mcryptd(alg) to expose it externally.
But such algorithms must be used internally and not be exposed.

We added a check to enforce that only internal algorithms are allowed
with mcryptd at the time mcryptd is spawning an algorithm.

0c1e16cd1e crypto: algif_aead - fix AEAD tag memory handling
For encryption, the AEAD ciphers require AAD || PT as input and generate
AAD || CT || Tag as output and vice versa for decryption. Prior to this
patch, the AF_ALG interface for AEAD ciphers requires the buffer to be
present as input for encryption. Similarly, the output buffer for
decryption required the presence of the tag buffer too. This implies
that the kernel reads / writes data buffers from/to kernel space
even though this operation is not required.

This patch changes the AF_ALG AEAD interface to be consistent with the
in-kernel AEAD cipher requirements.

Due to this handling, he changes are transparent to user space with one
exception: the return code of recv indicates the mount of output buffer.
That output buffer has a different size compared to before the patch
which implies that the return code of recv will also be different.
For example, a decryption operation uses 16 bytes AAD, 16 bytes CT and
16 bytes tag, the AF_ALG AEAD interface before showed a recv return
code of 48 (bytes) whereas after this patch, the return code is 32
since the tag is not returned any more.

5102981212 crypto: drbg - prevent invalid SG mappings
When using SGs, only heap memory (memory that is valid as per
virt_addr_valid) is allowed to be referenced. The CTR DRBG used to
reference the caller-provided memory directly in an SG. In case the
caller provided stack memory pointers, the SG mapping is not considered
to be valid. In some cases, this would even cause a paging fault.

The change adds a new scratch buffer that is used unconditionally to
catch the cases where the caller-provided buffer is not suitable for
use in an SG. The crypto operation of the CTR DRBG produces its output
with that scratch buffer and finally copies the content of the
scratch buffer to the caller's buffer.

The scratch buffer is allocated during allocation time of the CTR DRBG
as its access is protected with the DRBG mutex.

f9aa9dc7d2 Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net
All conflicts were simple overlapping changes except perhaps
for the Thunder driver.

That driver has a change_mtu method explicitly for sending
a message to the hardware. If that fails it returns an
error.

Normally a driver doesn't need an ndo_change_mtu method becuase those
are usually just range changes, which are now handled generically.
But since this extra operation is needed in the Thunder driver, it has
to stay.

However, if the message send fails we have to restore the original
MTU before the change because the entire call chain expects that if
an error is thrown by ndo_change_mtu then the MTU did not change.
Therefore code is added to nicvf_change_mtu to remember the original
MTU, and to restore it upon nicvf_update_hw_max_frs() failue.

8ff4c191d1 crypto: drbg - advance output buffer pointer
The CTR DRBG segments the number of random bytes to be generated into
128 byte blocks. The current code misses the advancement of the output
buffer pointer when the requestor asks for more than 128 bytes of data.
In this case, the next 128 byte block of random numbers is copied to
the beginning of the output buffer again. This implies that only the
first 128 bytes of the output buffer would ever be filled.

The patch adds the advancement of the buffer pointer to fill the entire
buffer.

Recently algif_hash has been changed to allow null hashes. This
triggers a bug when used with an shash algorithm whereby it will
cause a crash during the digest operation.

This patch fixes it by avoiding the digest operation and instead
doing an init followed by a final which avoids the buggy code in
shash.

This patch also ensures that the result buffer is freed after an
error so that it is not returned as a genuine hash result on the
next recv call.

The shash/ahash wrapper code will be fixed later to handle this
case correctly.

c4ca2b0b25 crypto: engine - Handle the kthread worker using the new API
Use the new API to create and destroy the crypto engine kthread
worker. The API hides some implementation details.

In particular, kthread_create_worker() allocates and initializes
struct kthread_worker. It runs the kthread the right way
and stores task_struct into the worker structure.

kthread_destroy_worker() flushes all pending works, stops
the kthread and frees the structure.

This patch does not change the existing behavior except for
dynamically allocating struct kthread_worker and storing
only the pointer of this structure.

It is compile tested only because I did not find an easy
way how to run the code. Well, it should be pretty safe
given the nature of the change.

3989144f86 kthread: kthread worker API cleanup
A good practice is to prefix the names of functions by the name
of the subsystem.

The kthread worker API is a mix of classic kthreads and workqueues. Each
worker has a dedicated kthread. It runs a generic function that process
queued works. It is implemented as part of the kthread subsystem.

This patch renames the existing kthread worker API to use
the corresponding name from the workqueues API prefixed by
kthread_:

__init_kthread_worker()		-> __kthread_init_worker()
init_kthread_worker()		-> kthread_init_worker()
init_kthread_work()		-> kthread_init_work()
insert_kthread_work()		-> kthread_insert_work()
queue_kthread_work()		-> kthread_queue_work()
flush_kthread_work()		-> kthread_flush_work()
flush_kthread_worker()		-> kthread_flush_worker()

Note that the names of DEFINE_KTHREAD_WORK*() macros stay
as they are. It is common that the "DEFINE_" prefix has
precedence over the subsystem names.

Note that INIT() macros and init() functions use different
naming scheme. There is no good solution. There are several
reasons for this solution:

+ "init" in the function names stands for the verb "initialize"
aka "initialize worker". While "INIT" in the macro names
stands for the noun "INITIALIZER" aka "worker initializer".

+ INIT() macros are used only in DEFINE() macros

+ init() functions are used close to the other kthread()
functions. It looks much better if all the functions
    use the same scheme.

+ There will be also kthread_destroy_worker() that will
be used close to kthread_cancel_work(). It is related
to the init() function. Again it looks better if all
functions use the same naming scheme.

+ there are several precedents for such init() function
    names, e.g. amd_iommu_init_device(), free_area_init_node(),
    jump_label_init_type(),  regmap_init_mmio_clk(),

+ It is not an argument but it was inconsistent even before.
