d3052bb5d3 openvswitch: Don't validate IPv6 label masks.
When userspace doesn't provide a mask, OVS datapath generates a fully
unwildcarded mask for the flow by copying the flow and setting all bits
in all fields. For IPv6 label, this creates a mask that matches on the
upper 12 bits, causing the following error:

openvswitch: netlink: Invalid IPv6 flow label value (value=ffffffff, max=fffff)

This patch ignores the label validation check for masks, avoiding this
error.

19e7a3df72 openvswitch: Fix NDP flow mask validation
match_validate() enforce that a mask matching on NDP attributes has also an
exact match on ICMPv6 type.
The ICMPv6 type, which is 8-bit wide, is stored in the 'tp.src' field of
'struct sw_flow_key', which is 16-bit wide.
Therefore, an exact match on ICMPv6 type should only check the first 8 bits.

This commit fixes a bug that prevented flows with an exact match on NDP field
from being installed

fff06c36a2 openvswitch: Optimize recirc action.
OVS need to flow key for flow lookup in recic action. OVS
does key extract in recic action. Most of cases we could
use OVS_CB packet key directly and can avoid packet flow key
extract. SET action we can update flow-key along with packet
to keep it consistent. But there are some action like MPLS
pop which forces OVS to do flow-extract. In such cases we
can mark flow key as invalid so that subsequent recirc
action can do full flow extract.

941d8ebcf7 datapath: Rename last_action() as nla_is_last() and move to netlink.h
The original motivation for this change was to allow the helper to be used
in files other than actions.c as part of work on an odp select group

It was as pointed out by Thomas Graf that this helper would be best off
living in netlink.h. Furthermore, I think that the generic nature of this
helper means it is best off in netlink.h regardless of if it is used more
than one .c file or not. Thus, I would like it considered independent of
the work on an odp select group action.

330966e501 net: make skb_gso_segment error handling more robust
skb_gso_segment has three possible return values:
1. a pointer to the first segmented skb
2. an errno value (IS_ERR())
3. NULL. This can happen when GSO is used for header verification.

However, several callers currently test IS_ERR instead of IS_ERR_OR_NULL
and would oops when NULL is returned.

Note that these call sites should never actually see such a NULL return
value; all callers mask out the GSO bits in the feature argument.

However, there have been issues with some protocol handlers erronously not
respecting the specified feature mask in some cases.

It is preferable to get 'have to turn off hw offloading, else slow' reports
rather than 'kernel crashes'.

f47de068f6 openvswitch: Create right mask with disabled megaflows
If megaflows are disabled, the userspace does not send the netlink attribute
OVS_FLOW_ATTR_MASK, and the kernel must create an exact match mask.

sw_flow_mask_set() sets every bytes (in 'range') of the mask to 0xff, even the
bytes that represent padding for struct sw_flow, or the bytes that represent
fields that may not be set during ovs_flow_extract().
This is a problem, because when we extract a flow from a packet,
we do not memset() anymore the struct sw_flow to 0.

This commit gets rid of sw_flow_mask_set() and introduces mask_set_nlattr(),
which operates on the netlink attributes rather than on the mask key. Using
this approach we are sure that only the bytes that the user provided in the
flow are matched.

Also, if the parse_flow_mask_nlattrs() for the mask ENCAP attribute fails, we
now return with an error.

as additional information is added this is not necessarily desirable,
as in the case of pointers.

This adds a new structure for tunnel metadata which currently contains
only the existing struct. This change is purely internal to the kernel
since the current OVS_KEY_ATTR_IPV4_TUNNEL is simply a compressed version
of OVS_KEY_ATTR_TUNNEL that is translated at flow setup.

0714812134 openvswitch: Eliminate memset() from flow_extract.
As new protocols are added, the size of the flow key tends to
increase although few protocols care about all of the fields. In
order to optimize this for hashing and matching, OVS uses a variable
length portion of the key. However, when fields are extracted from
the packet we must still zero out the entire key.

This is no longer necessary now that OVS implements masking. Any
fields (or holes in the structure) which are not part of a given
protocol will be by definition not part of the mask and zeroed out
during lookup. Furthermore, since masking already uses variable
length keys this zeroing operation automatically benefits as well.

In principle, the only thing that needs to be done at this point
is remove the memset() at the beginning of flow. However, some
fields assume that they are initialized to zero, which now must be
done explicitly. In addition, in the event of an error we must also
zero out corresponding fields to signal that there is no valid data
present. These increase the total amount of code but very little of
it is executed in non-error situations.

Removing the memset() reduces the profile of ovs_flow_extract()
from 0.64% to 0.56% when tested with large packets on a 10G link.

Recirc action allows a packet to reenter openvswitch processing.
currently openvswitch lookup flow for packet received and execute

OVS hash action calculates 5-tupple hash and set hash in flow-key
hash. This can be used along with recirculation for distributing
packets among different ports for bond devices.
For example:
OVS bonding can use following actions:
Match on: bond flow; Action: hash, recirc(id)
Match on: recirc-id == id and hash lower bits == a;

2ba5af42a7 openvswitch: fix panic with multiple vlan headers
When there are multiple vlan headers present in a received frame, the first
one is put into vlan_tci and protocol is set to ETH_P_8021Q. Anything in the
skb beyond the VLAN TPID may be still non-linear, including the inner TCI
and ethertype. While ovs_flow_extract takes care of IP and IPv6 headers, it
does nothing with ETH_P_8021Q. Later, if OVS_ACTION_ATTR_POP_VLAN is
executed, __pop_vlan_tci pulls the next vlan header into vlan_tci.

This leads to two things:

1. Part of the resulting ethernet header is in the non-linear part of the
skb. When eth_type_trans is called later as the result of
   OVS_ACTION_ATTR_OUTPUT, kernel BUGs in __skb_pull. Also, __pop_vlan_tci

2. network_header points into the ethernet header instead of behind it.

651887b0c2 openvswitch: Sample action without side effects
The sample action is rather generic, allowing arbitrary actions to be
executed based on a probability. However its use, within the Open
vSwitch
code-base is limited: only a single user-space action is ever nested.

A consequence of the current implementation of sample actions is that
depending on weather the sample action executed (due to its probability)
any side-effects of nested actions may or may not be present before
executing subsequent actions. This has the potential to complicate
verification of valid actions by the (kernel) datapath. And indeed
adding support for push and pop MPLS actions inside sample actions
is one case where such case.

In order to allow all supported actions to be continue to be nested
inside sample actions without the potential need for complex
verification code this patch changes the implementation of the sample
action in the kernel datapath so that sample actions are more like
a function call and any side effects of nested actions are not
present when executing subsequent actions.

With the above in mind the motivation for this change is twofold:

* To contain side-effects the sample action in the hope of making it
  easier to deal with in the future and;
* To avoid some rather complex verification code introduced in the MPLS
  datapath patch.

0e9796b4af openvswitch: Reduce locking requirements.
Reduce and clarify locking requirements for ovs_flow_cmd_alloc_info(),
ovs_flow_cmd_fill_info() and ovs_flow_cmd_build_info().

A datapath pointer is available only when holding a lock. Change
ovs_flow_cmd_fill_info() and ovs_flow_cmd_build_info() to take a
dp_ifindex directly, rather than a datapath pointer that is then
(only) used to get the dp_ifindex. This is useful, since the
dp_ifindex is available even when the datapath pointer is not, both
before and after taking a lock, which makes further critical section
reduction possible.

Make ovs_flow_cmd_alloc_info() take an 'acts' argument instead a
'flow' pointer. This allows some future patches to do the allocation
before acquiring the flow pointer.

The locking requirements after this patch are:

ovs_flow_cmd_alloc_info(): May be called without locking, must not be
called while holding the RCU read lock (due to memory allocation).
If 'acts' belong to a flow in the flow table, however, then the
caller must hold ovs_mutex.

ovs_flow_cmd_fill_info(): Either ovs_mutex or RCU read lock must be held.

ovs_flow_cmd_build_info(): This calls both of the above, so the caller
must hold ovs_mutex.

For ovs_flow_stats_get() using ovsl_dereference() was wrong, since
flow dumps call this with RCU read lock.

Also, make the ovs_flow_stats_get() 'flow' argument const to make

1139e241ec openvswitch: Compact sw_flow_key.
Minimize padding in sw_flow_key and move 'tp' top the main struct.
These changes simplify code when accessing the transport port numbers
and the tcp flags, and makes the sw_flow_key 8 bytes smaller on 64-bit
systems (128->120 bytes). These changes also make the keys for IPv4
packets to fit in one cache line.

There is a valid concern for safety of packing the struct
ovs_key_ipv4_tunnel, as it would be possible to take the address of
the tun_id member as a __be64 * which could result in unaligned access
in some systems. However:

- sw_flow_key itself is 64-bit aligned, so the tun_id within is
  always
  64-bit aligned.
- We never make arrays of ovs_key_ipv4_tunnel (which would force
  every
  second tun_key to be misaligned).
- We never take the address of the tun_id in to a __be64 *.
- Whereever we use struct ovs_key_ipv4_tunnel outside the
  sw_flow_key,
it is in stack (on tunnel input functions), where compiler has full
  control of the alignment.

This patch replaces rcu_assign_pointer(x, NULL) with RCU_INIT_POINTER(x, NULL)

Keep kernel flow stats for each NUMA node rather than each (logical)
CPU. This avoids using the per-CPU allocator and removes most of the
kernel-side OVS locking overhead otherwise on the top of perf reports
and allows OVS to scale better with higher number of threads.

With 9 handlers and 4 revalidators netperf TCP_CRR test flow setup
rate doubles on a server with two hyper-threaded physical CPUs (16
logical cores each) compared to the current OVS master. Tested with
non-trivial flow table with a TCP port match rule forcing all new
connections with unique port numbers to OVS userspace. The IP
addresses are still wildcarded, so the kernel flows are not considered
as exact match 5-tuple flows. This type of flows can be expected to
appear in large numbers as the result of more effective wildcarding
made possible by improvements in OVS userspace flow classifier.

There is a small increase in kernel spinlock overhead due to the same
spinlock being shared between multiple cores of the same physical CPU,
but that is barely visible in the netperf TCP_CRR test performance
(maybe ~1% performance drop, hard to tell exactly due to variance in
the test results), when testing for kernel module throughput (with no
userspace activity, handful of kernel flows).

On flow setup, a single stats instance is allocated (for the NUMA node
0). As CPUs from multiple NUMA nodes start updating stats, new
NUMA-node specific stats instances are allocated. This allocation on
the packet processing code path is made to never block or look for
emergency memory pools, minimizing the allocation latency. If the
allocation fails, the existing preallocated stats instance is used.
Also, if only CPUs from one NUMA-node are updating the preallocated
stats instance, no additional stats instances are allocated. This
eliminates the need to pre-allocate stats instances that will not be
used, also relieving the stats reader from the burden of reading stats
that are never used.

f01ec1c017 vxlan: add x-netns support
This patch allows to switch the netns when packet is encapsulated or
decapsulated.
The vxlan socket is openned into the i/o netns, ie into the netns where
encapsulated packets are received. The socket lookup is done into this netns to
find the corresponding vxlan tunnel. After decapsulation, the packet is
injecting into the corresponding interface which may stand to another netns.

When one of the two netns is removed, the tunnel is destroyed.

Configuration example:
ip netns add netns1
ip netns exec netns1 ip link set lo up
ip link add vxlan10 type vxlan id 10 group 239.0.0.10 dev eth0 dstport 0
ip link set vxlan10 netns netns1

4f647e0a3c openvswitch: fix a possible deadlock and lockdep warning
There are two problematic situations.

A deadlock can happen when is_percpu is false because it can get
interrupted while holding the spinlock. Then it executes
ovs_flow_stats_update() in softirq context which tries to get
the same lock.

The second sitation is that when is_percpu is true, the code
correctly disables BH but only for the local CPU, so the
following can happen when locking the remote CPU without
disabling BH:

       CPU#0 CPU#1
  ovs_flow_stats_get()
   stats_read()
 +->spin_lock remote CPU#1        ovs_flow_stats_get()
 |  <interrupted>                  stats_read()
 |  ...                       +-->  spin_lock remote CPU#0
 | | <interrupted>
 |  ovs_flow_stats_update()   |     ...
 |   spin_lock local CPU#0 <--+     ovs_flow_stats_update()

36d5fe6a00 core, nfqueue, openvswitch: Orphan frags in skb_zerocopy and handle errors
skb_zerocopy can copy elements of the frags array between skbs, but it doesn't
orphan them. Also, it doesn't handle errors, so this patch takes care of that
as well, and modify the callers accordingly. skb_tx_error() is also added to
the callers so they will signal the failed delivery towards the creator of the
skb.

The net/core/netpoll.c conflict is a bug fix in 'net' happening

In micrel-ks8851.txt we simply have overlapping changes.

f9b8c4c8ba openvswitch: Correctly report flow used times for first 5 minutes after boot.
The kernel starts out its "jiffies" timer as 5 minutes below zero, as
shown in include/linux/jiffies.h:

  /*
   * Have the 32 bit jiffies value wrap 5 minutes after boot
   * so jiffies wrap bugs show up earlier.
   */
  #define INITIAL_JIFFIES ((unsigned long)(unsigned int) (-300*HZ))

The loop in ovs_flow_stats_get() starts out with 'used' set to 0, then
takes any "later" time. This means that for the first five minutes after
boot, flows will always be reported as never used, since 0 is greater than
any time already seen.

 * Per-cpu flow stats in situations where flows are likely to be shared

7539fadcb8 net: Add utility functions to clear rxhash
In several places 'skb->rxhash = 0' is being done to clear the
rxhash value in an skb. This does not clear l4_rxhash which could
still be set so that the rxhash wouldn't be recalculated on subsequent
call to skb_get_rxhash. This patch adds an explict function to clear
all the rxhash related information in the skb properly.

skb_clear_hash_if_not_l4 clears the rxhash only if it is not marked as
l4_rxhash.

Fixed up places where 'skb->rxhash = 0' was being called.

500f808726 net: ovs: use CRC32 accelerated flow hash if available
Currently OVS uses jhash2() for calculating flow hashes in its
internal flow_hash() function. The performance of the flow_hash()
function is critical, as the input data can be hundreds of bytes
long.

OVS is largely deployed in x86_64 based datacenters. Therefore,
we argue that the performance critical fast path of OVS should
exploit underlying CPU features in order to reduce the per packet
processing costs. We replace jhash2 with the hash implementation
provided by the kernel hash lib, which exploits the crc32l
instruction to achieve high performance

Our patch greatly reduces the hash footprint from ~200 cycles of
jhash2() to around ~90 cycles in case of ovs_flow_hash_crc()
(measured with rdtsc over maximum length flow keys on an i7 Intel
CPU).

Additionally, we wrote a microbenchmark to stress the flow table
performance. The benchmark inserts random flows into the flow
hash and then performs lookups. Our hash deployed on a CRC32
capable CPU reduces the lookup for 1000 flows, 100 masks from
~10,100us to ~6,700us, for example.

Thus, simply use the newly introduced arch_fast_hash2() as a
drop-in replacement.

1ee2dcc224 Merge git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/davem/net
Pull networking fixes from David Miller:
"Mostly these are fixes for fallout due to merge window changes, as
well as cures for problems that have been with us for a much longer
  period of time"

 1) Johannes Berg noticed two major deficiencies in our genetlink
registration. Some genetlink protocols we passing in constant
counts for their ops array rather than something like
ARRAY_SIZE(ops) or similar. Also, some genetlink protocols were
using fixed IDs for their multicast groups.

We have to retain these fixed IDs to keep existing userland tools
working, but reserve them so that other multicast groups used by
other protocols can not possibly conflict.

In dealing with these two problems, we actually now use less state
management for genetlink operations and multicast groups.

 2) When configuring interface hardware timestamping, fix several
drivers that simply do not validate that the hwtstamp_config value
is one the driver actually supports. From Ben Hutchings.

 3) Invalid memory references in mwifiex driver, from Amitkumar Karwar.

 5) Bridge erroneously fails to use the proper wrapper functions to make
calls to netdev_ops->ndo_vlan_rx_{add,kill}_vid. Fix from Toshiaki
    Makita.

 6) When detaching a bridge port, make sure to flush all VLAN IDs to
prevent them from leaking, also from Toshiaki Makita.

 7) Put in a compromise for TCP Small Queues so that deep queued devices
that delay TX reclaim non-trivially don't have such a performance
decrease. One particularly problematic area is 802.11 AMPDU in

18) When ipv6 ping protocol support was added, the AF_INET6 protocol

2a94fe48f3 genetlink: make multicast groups const, prevent abuse
Register generic netlink multicast groups as an array with
the family and give them contiguous group IDs. Then instead
of passing the global group ID to the various functions that
send messages, pass the ID relative to the family - for most
families that's just 0 because the only have one group.

This avoids the list_head and ID in each group, adding a new
field for the mcast group ID offset to the family.

At the same time, this allows us to prevent abusing groups
again like the quota and dropmon code did, since we can now
check that a family only uses a group it owns.

c53ed74236 genetlink: only pass array to genl_register_family_with_ops()
As suggested by David Miller, make genl_register_family_with_ops()
a macro and pass only the array, evaluating ARRAY_SIZE() in the
macro, this is a little safer.

The openvswitch has some indirection, assing ops/n_ops directly in
that code. This might ultimately just assign the pointers in the
family initializations, saving the struct genl_family_and_ops and
code (once mcast groups are handled differently.)

John Stultz
827da44c61 net: Explicitly initialize u64_stats_sync structures for lockdep
In order to enable lockdep on seqcount/seqlock structures, we
must explicitly initialize any locks.

The u64_stats_sync structure, uses a seqcount, and thus we need
to introduce a u64_stats_init() function and use it to initialize
the structure.

This unfortunately adds a lot of fairly trivial initialization code
to a number of drivers. But the benefit of ensuring correctness makes
this worth while.

Because these changes are required for lockdep to be enabled, and the
changes are quite trivial, I've not yet split this patch out into 30-some
separate patches, as I figured it would be better to get the various
maintainers thoughts on how to best merge this change along with
the seqcount lockdep enablement.

Feedback would be appreciated!

Three mostly trivial conflicts.

The net/bridge/br_private.h conflict was a function signature (argument
addition) change overlapping with the extern removals from Joe Perches.

In drivers/net/netconsole.c we had one change adjusting a printk message
whilst another changed "printk(KERN_INFO" into "pr_info(".

Lastly, the emulex change was a new inline function addition overlapping
with Joe Perches's extern removals.

[ 62.769724] device tap1 left promiscuous mode

This patch also affects moving devices between net namespaces.

OVS used to ignore netns move notifications which caused problems.
Like:
  ovs-dpctl add-if test tap1
ip link set tap1 netns 3512
and then removing tap1 inside the namespace will cause hang on missing dev_put.

With this patch OVS will detach dev upon receiving netns move event.

- Move sysctl_local_ports from a global variable into struct netns_ipv4.
- Modify inet_get_local_port_range to take a struct net, and update all
  of the callers.
- Move the initialization of sysctl_local_ports into
   sysctl_net_ipv4.c:ipv4_sysctl_init_net from inet_connection_sock.c

v2:
- Ensure indentation used tabs
- Fixed ip.h so it applies cleanly to todays net-next

v3:
- Compile fixes of strange callers of inet_get_local_port_range.
This patch now successfully passes an allmodconfig build.
Removed manual inlining of inet_get_local_port_range in ipv4_local_port_range

3bf4b5b11d net: ovs: flow: fix potential illegal memory access in __parse_flow_nlattrs
In function __parse_flow_nlattrs(), we check for condition
(type > OVS_KEY_ATTR_MAX) and if true, print an error, but we do
not return from this function as in other checks. It seems this
has been forgotten, as otherwise, we could access beyond the
memory of ovs_key_lens, which is of ovs_key_lens[OVS_KEY_ATTR_MAX + 1].
Hence, a maliciously prepared nla_type from user space could access

It doesn't make sense to output a tunnel packet using the same
parameters that it was received with since that will generally
just result in the packet going back to us. As a result, userspace
assumes that the tunnel key is cleared when transitioning through
the switch. In the majority of cases this doesn't matter since a
packet is either going to a tunnel port (in which the key is
overwritten with new values) or to a non-tunnel port (in which
case the key is ignored). However, it's theoreticaly possible that
userspace could rely on the documented behavior, so this corrects
it.

	net/batman-adv/routing.c
	net/ipv4/tcp_input.c

The e{uid, gid} --> {uid, gid} credentials fix conflicted with the
cleanup in net-next to now pass cred structs around.

The be2net driver had a bug fix in 'net' that overlapped with the VLAN
interface changes by Patrick McHardy in net-next.

An IGB conflict existed because in 'net' the build_skb() support was
reverted, and in 'net-next' there was a comment style fix within that
code.

Several batman-adv conflicts were resolved by making sure that all
calls to batadv_is_my_mac() are changed to have a new bat_priv first
argument.

Eric Dumazet's TS ECR fix in TCP in 'net' conflicted with the F-RTO
rewrite in 'net-next', mostly overlapping changes.

b67bfe0d42 hlist: drop the node parameter from iterators
I'm not sure why, but the hlist for each entry iterators were conceived

        list_for_each_entry(pos, head, member)

The hlist ones were greedy and wanted an extra parameter:

        hlist_for_each_entry(tpos, pos, head, member)

Why did they need an extra pos parameter? I'm not quite sure. Not only
they don't really need it, it also prevents the iterator from looking
exactly like the list iterator, which is unfortunate.

Besides the semantic patch, there was some manual work required:

 - Fix up the actual hlist iterators in linux/list.h
 - Fix up the declaration of other iterators based on the hlist ones.
 - A very small amount of places were using the 'node' parameter, this
was modified to use 'obj->member' instead.
 - Coccinelle didn't handle the hlist_for_each_entry_safe iterator
properly, so those had to be fixed up manually.

The semantic patch which is mostly the work of Peter Senna Tschudin is here:

7b024082b2 openvswitch: fix the calculation of checksum for vlan header
In vlan_insert_tag(), we insert a 4-byte VLAN header _after_
mac header:

        memmove(skb->data, skb->data + VLAN_HLEN, 2 * ETH_ALEN);
        ...
        veth->h_vlan_proto = htons(ETH_P_8021Q);
        ...
        veth->h_vlan_TCI = htons(vlan_tci);

so after it, we should recompute the checksum to include these 4 bytes.
skb->data still points to the mac header, therefore VLAN header is at
(2 * ETH_ALEN = 12) bytes after it, not (ETH_HLEN = 14) bytes.

This can also be observed via tcpdump:

         0x0000: ffff ffff ffff 5254 005d 6f6e 8100 000a
         0x0010: 0806 0001 0800 0604 0001 5254 005d 6f6e
         0x0020: c0a8 026e 0000 0000 0000 c0a8 0282

Similar for __pop_vlan_tci(), the vlan header we remove is the one
overwritten in:

	memmove(skb->data + VLAN_HLEN, skb->data, 2 * ETH_ALEN);

Therefore the VLAN_HLEN = 4 bytes after 2 * ETH_ALEN is the part
we want to sub from checksum.

4490108b4a openvswitch: Allow OVS_USERSPACE_ATTR_USERDATA to be variable length.
Until now, the optional OVS_USERSPACE_ATTR_USERDATA attribute had to be
exactly 64 bits long, if it was present. However, 64 bits is not enough
space to associate as much information with a flow as would be convenient
for some userspace features now under development. This commit generalizes
the attribute, allowing it to be any length.

This generalization is backward-compatible: if userspace only uses 64-bit
attributes, then it will not see any change in behavior.

12b0004d1d net: adjust skb_gso_segment() for calling in rx path
skb_gso_segment() is almost always called in tx path,
except for openvswitch. It calls this function when
it receives the packet and tries to queue it to user-space.
In this special case, the ->ip_summed check inside
skb_gso_segment() is no longer true, as ->ip_summed value
has different meanings on rx path.

This patch adjusts skb_gso_segment() so that we can at least
avoid such warnings on checksum.

d9d59089c4 openvswitch: Move LRO check from transmit to receive.
The check for LRO packets was incorrectly put in the transmit path
instead of on receive. Since this check is supposed to protect OVS
(and other parts of the system) from packets that it cannot handle
it is obviously not useful on egress. Therefore, this commit moves
it back to the receive side.

The primary problem that this caused is upcalls to userspace tried
to segment the packet even though no segmentation information is
available. This would later cause NULL pointer dereferences when
skb_gso_segment() did nothing.

Rather easy conflict resolution, the 'net' tree had bug fixes to make

It is a frequent mistake to confuse the netlink port identifier with a

I have successfully built an allyesconfig kernel with this change.
