0eb71a9da5 rhashtable: split rhashtable.h
Due to the use of rhashtables in net namespaces,
rhashtable.h is included in lots of the kernel,
so a small changes can required a large recompilation.
This makes development painful.

This patch splits out rhashtable-types.h which just includes
the major type declarations, and does not include (non-trivial)
inline code. rhashtable.h is no longer included by anything
in the include/ directory.
Common include files only include rhashtable-types.h so a large
recompilation is only triggered when that changes.

e783bb00ad ipmr: fix error path when ipmr_new_table fails
commit 0bbbf0e7d0 ("ipmr, ip6mr: Unite creation of new mr_table")
refactored ipmr_new_table, so that it now returns NULL when
mr_table_alloc fails. Unfortunately, all callers of ipmr_new_table
expect an ERR_PTR.

This can result in NULL deref, for example when ipmr_rules_exit calls
ipmr_free_table with NULL net->ipv4.mrt in the
!CONFIG_IP_MROUTE_MULTIPLE_TABLES version.

This patch makes mr_table_alloc return errors, and changes
ip6mr_new_table and its callers to return/expect error pointers as
well. It also removes the version of mr_table_alloc defined under
!CONFIG_IP_MROUTE_COMMON, since it is never used.

848235edb5 ip6mr: only set ip6mr_table from setsockopt when ip6mr_new_table succeeds
Currently, raw6_sk(sk)->ip6mr_table is set unconditionally during
ip6_mroute_setsockopt(MRT6_TABLE). A subsequent attempt at the same
setsockopt will fail with -ENOENT, since we haven't actually created
that table.

A similar fix for ipv4 was included in commit 5e1859fbcc ("ipv4: ipmr:

a366e300ae ip6mr: remove synchronize_rcu() in favor of SOCK_RCU_FREE
Kirill found that recently added synchronize_rcu() call in
ip6mr_sk_done()
was slowing down netns dismantle and posted a patch to use it only if
the socket
was found.

I instead suggested to get rid of this call, and use instead
SOCK_RCU_FREE

We might later change IPv4 side to use the same technique and unify
both stacks. IPv4 does not use synchronize_rcu() but has a call_rcu()
that could be replaced by SOCK_RCU_FREE.

7b0db85737 ipmr, ip6mr: Unite dumproute flows
The various MFC entries are being held in the same kind of mr_tables
for both ipmr and ip6mr, and their traversal logic is identical.
Also, with the exception of the addresses [and other small tidbits]
the major bulk of the nla setting is identical.

Unite as much of the dumping as possible between the two.
Notice this requires creating an mr_table iterator for each, as the
for-each preprocessor macro can't be used by the common logic.

4adfa79fc2 ip6mr: fix stale iterator
When we dump the ip6mr mfc entries via proc, we initialize an iterator
with the table to dump but we don't clear the cache pointer which might
be initialized from a prior read on the same descriptor that ended. This

crashes and hangs. Clear the cache pointer like ipmr does to fix the issue.
Thanks for the reliable reproducer.

96890d6252 net: delete /proc THIS_MODULE references
/proc has been ignoring struct file_operations::owner field for 10 years.
Specifically, it started with commit 786d7e1612
("Fix rmmod/read/write races in /proc entries"). Notice the chunk where
inode->i_fop is initialized with proxy struct file_operations for
regular files:

	-               if (de->proc_fops)
	-                       inode->i_fop = de->proc_fops;
	+               if (de->proc_fops) {
	+                       if (S_ISREG(inode->i_mode))
	+                               inode->i_fop = &proc_reg_file_ops;
	+                       else
	+                               inode->i_fop = de->proc_fops;
	+               }

VFS stopped pinning module at this point.

e99e88a9d2 treewide: setup_timer() -> timer_setup()
This converts all remaining cases of the old setup_timer() API into using
timer_setup(), where the callback argument is the structure already
holding the struct timer_list. These should have no behavioral changes,
since they just change which pointer is passed into the callback with
the same available pointers after conversion. It handles the following
examples, in addition to some other variations.

Casting from unsigned long:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
        struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data;
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, ptr);

and forced object casts:

    void my_callback(struct something *ptr)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, (unsigned long)ptr);

become:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *t)
    {
        struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer);
    ...
    }
    ...
    timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

Direct function assignments:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
        struct something *ptr = (struct something *)data;
    ...
    }
    ...
    ptr->my_timer.function = my_callback;

have a temporary cast added, along with converting the args:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *t)
    {
        struct something *ptr = from_timer(ptr, t, my_timer);
    ...
    }
    ...
    ptr->my_timer.function = (TIMER_FUNC_TYPE)my_callback;

And finally, callbacks without a data assignment:

    void my_callback(unsigned long data)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    setup_timer(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

have their argument renamed to verify they're unused during conversion:

    void my_callback(struct timer_list *unused)
    {
    ...
    }
    ...
    timer_setup(&ptr->my_timer, my_callback, 0);

The conversion is done with the following Coccinelle script:

spatch --very-quiet --all-includes --include-headers \
	-I ./arch/x86/include -I ./arch/x86/include/generated \
	-I ./include -I ./arch/x86/include/uapi \
	-I ./arch/x86/include/generated/uapi -I ./include/uapi \
	-I ./include/generated/uapi --include ./include/linux/kconfig.h \
	--dir . \
	--cocci-file ~/src/data/timer_setup.cocci

338d182fa5 ipv6: try not to take rtnl_lock in ip6mr_sk_done
Avoid traversing the list of mr6_tables (which requires the
rtnl_lock) in ip6mr_sk_done(), when we know in advance that
a match will not be found.
This can happen when rawv6_close()/ip6mr_sk_done() is invoked
on non-mroute6 sockets.
This patch helps reduce rtnl_lock contention when destroying
a large number of net namespaces, each having a non-mroute6
raw socket.

cf124db566 net: Fix inconsistent teardown and release of private netdev state.
Network devices can allocate reasources and private memory using
netdev_ops->ndo_init(). However, the release of these resources
can occur in one of two different places.

Either netdev_ops->ndo_uninit() or netdev->destructor().

The decision of which operation frees the resources depends upon
whether it is necessary for all netdev refs to be released before it
is safe to perform the freeing.

netdev_ops->ndo_uninit() presumably can occur right after the
NETDEV_UNREGISTER notifier completes and the unicast and multicast
address lists are flushed.

netdev->destructor(), on the other hand, does not run until the
netdev references all go away.

Further complicating the situation is that netdev->destructor()
almost universally does also a free_netdev().

This creates a problem for the logic in register_netdevice().
Because all callers of register_netdevice() manage the freeing
of the netdev, and invoke free_netdev(dev) if register_netdevice()
fails.

If netdev_ops->ndo_init() succeeds, but something else fails inside
of register_netdevice(), it does call ndo_ops->ndo_uninit(). But
it is not able to invoke netdev->destructor().

This is because netdev->destructor() will do a free_netdev() and
then the caller of register_netdevice() will do the same.

However, this means that the resources that would normally be released
by netdev->destructor() will not be.

Over the years drivers have added local hacks to deal with this, by
invoking their destructor parts by hand when register_netdevice()
fails.

Many drivers do not try to deal with this, and instead we have leaks.

Let's close this hole by formalizing the distinction between what
private things need to be freed up by netdev->destructor() and whether
the driver needs unregister_netdevice() to perform the free_netdev().

netdev->priv_destructor() performs all actions to free up the private
resources that used to be freed by netdev->destructor(), except for
free_netdev().

netdev->needs_free_netdev is a boolean that indicates whether
free_netdev() should be done at the end of unregister_netdevice().

Now, register_netdevice() can sanely release all resources after
ndo_ops->ndo_init() succeeds, by invoking both ndo_ops->ndo_uninit()
and netdev->priv_destructor().

And at the end of unregister_netdevice(), we invoke
netdev->priv_destructor() and optionally call free_netdev().

Andrey Konovalov reported a BUG caused by the ip6mr code which is caused
because we call unregister_netdevice_many for a device that is already
being destroyed. In IPv4's ipmr that has been resolved by two commits
long time ago by introducing the "notify" parameter to the delete
function and avoiding the unregister when called from a notifier, so
let's do the same for ip6mr.

99253eb750 ipv6: check sk sk_type and protocol early in ip_mroute_set/getsockopt
Commit 5e1859fbcc ("ipv4: ipmr: various fixes and cleanups") fixed
the issue for ipv4 ipmr:

  ip_mroute_setsockopt() & ip_mroute_getsockopt() should not
  access/set raw_sk(sk)->ipmr_table before making sure the socket
  is a raw socket, and protocol is IGMP

The same fix should be done for ipv6 ipmr as well.

This patch can fix the panic caused by overwriting the same offset
as ipmr_table as in raw_sk(sk) when accessing other type's socket
by ip_mroute_setsockopt().

1708ebc963 ipmr, ip6mr: add RTNH_F_UNRESOLVED flag to unresolved cache entries
While working with ipmr, we noticed that it is impossible to determine
if an entry is actually unresolved or its IIF interface has disappeared
(e.g. virtual interface got deleted). These entries look almost
identical to user-space when dumping or receiving notifications. So in
order to recognize them add a new RTNH_F_UNRESOLVED flag which is set when
sending an unresolved cache entry to user-space.

2cf750704b ipmr, ip6mr: fix scheduling while atomic and a deadlock with ipmr_get_route
Since the commit below the ipmr/ip6mr rtnl_unicast() code uses the portid
instead of the previous dst_pid which was copied from in_skb's portid.
Since the skb is new the portid is 0 at that point so the packets are sent
to the kernel and we get scheduling while atomic or a deadlock (depending
on where it happens) by trying to acquire rtnl two times.
Also since this is RTM_GETROUTE, it can be triggered by a normal user.

Here's the sleeping while atomic trace:

b5036cd4ed ipmr, ip6mr: return lastuse relative to now
When I introduced the lastuse member I made a subtle error because it was
returned as an absolute value but that is meaningless to user-space as it
doesn't allow to see how old exactly an entry is. Let's make it similar to
how the bridge returns such values and make it relative to "now" (jiffies).
This allows us to show the actual age of the entries and is much more
useful (e.g. user-space daemons can age out entries, iproute2 can display
the lastuse properly).

43b9e12740 net: ipmr/ip6mr: add support for keeping an entry age
In preparation for hardware offloading of ipmr/ip6mr we need an
interface that allows to check (and later update) the age of entries.
Relying on stats alone can show activity but not actual age of the entry,
furthermore when there're tens of thousands of entries a lot of the
hardware implementations only support "hit" bits which are cleared on
read to denote that the entry was active and shouldn't be aged out,
these can then be naturally translated into age timestamp and will be
compatible with the software forwarding age. Using a lastuse entry doesn't
affect performance because the members in that cache line are written to
along with the age.
Since all new users are encouraged to use ipmr via netlink, this is
exported via the RTA_EXPIRES attribute.
Also do a minor local variable declaration style adjustment - arrange them
longest to shortest.

fbdd29bfd2 net: ipmr, ip6mr: fix vif/tunnel failure race condition
Since (at least) commit b17a7c179d ("[NET]: Do sysfs registration as
part of register_netdevice."), netdev_run_todo() deals only with
unregistration, so we don't need to do the rtnl_unlock/lock cycle to
finish registration when failing pimreg or dvmrp device creation. In
fact that opens a race condition where someone can delete the device
while rtnl is unlocked because it's fully registered. The problem gets
worse when netlink support is introduced as there are more points of entry
that can cause it and it also makes reusing that code correctly impossible.
