bdec97a855 arm64: compat: fix vfp save/restore across signal handlers in big-endian
When saving/restoring the VFP registers from a compat (AArch32)
signal frame, we rely on the compat registers forming a prefix of the
native register file and therefore make use of copy_{to,from}_user to
transfer between the native fpsimd_state and the compat_vfp_sigframe.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work so well in a big-endian environment.
Our fpsimd save/restore code operates directly on 128-bit quantities
(Q registers) whereas the compat_vfp_sigframe represents the registers
as an array of 64-bit (D) registers. The architecture packs the compat D
registers into the Q registers, with the least significant bytes holding
the lower register. Consequently, we need to swap the 64-bit halves when
converting between these two representations on a big-endian machine.

This patch replaces the __copy_{to,from}_user invocations in our
compat VFP signal handling code with explicit __put_user loops that
operate on 64-bit values and swap them accordingly.

e56d82a116 arm64: cpu hotplug: ensure we mask out CPU_TASKS_FROZEN in notifiers
We have a couple of CPU hotplug notifiers for resetting the CPU debug
state to a sane value when a CPU comes online.

This patch ensures that we mask out CPU_TASKS_FROZEN so that we don't
miss any online events occuring due to suspend/resume.

d10bcd4733 arm64: head.S: initialise mdcr_el2 in el2_setup
When entering the kernel at EL2, we fail to initialise the MDCR_EL2
register which controls debug access and PMU capabilities at EL1.

This patch ensures that the register is initialised so that all traps
are disabled and all the PMU counters are available to the host. When a
guest is scheduled, KVM takes care to configure trapping appropriately.

89e44b51cc arm64, acpi/apei: Implement arch_apei_get_mem_attributes()
Table 8 of UEFI 2.5 section 2.3.6.1 defines mappings from EFI
memory types to MAIR attribute encodings for arm64.

If the physical address has memory attributes defined by EFI
memmap as EFI_MEMORY_[UC|WC|WT], return approprate page
protection type according to the UEFI spec. Otherwise, return
PAGE_KERNEL.

1570f0d7ab arm64: support initrd outside kernel linear map
The use of mem= could leave part or all of the initrd outside of the
kernel linear map.  This will lead to an error when unpacking the initrd
and a probable failure to boot.  This patch catches that situation and
relocates the initrd to be fully within the linear map.

674c242c93 arm64: flush FP/SIMD state correctly after execve()
When a task calls execve(), its FP/SIMD state is flushed so that
none of the original program state is observeable by the incoming
program.

However, since this flushing consists of setting the in-memory copy
of the FP/SIMD state to all zeroes, the CPU field is set to CPU 0 as
well, which indicates to the lazy FP/SIMD preserve/restore code that
the FP/SIMD state does not need to be reread from memory if the task
is scheduled again on CPU 0 without any other tasks having entered
userland (or used the FP/SIMD in kernel mode) on the same CPU in the
mean time. If this happens, the FP/SIMD state of the old program will
still be present in the registers when the new program starts.

So set the CPU field to the invalid value of NR_CPUS when performing
the flush, by calling fpsimd_flush_task_state().

5166c20ef9 arm64: makefile: fix perf_callchain.o kconfig dependency
Commit 4b3dc9679c ("arm64: force CONFIG_SMP=y and remove redundant
#ifdefs") incorrectly resolved a conflict on arch/arm64/kernel/Makefile
which resulted in a partial revert of 52da443ec4 ("arm64: perf: factor
out callchain code"), leading to perf_callchain.o depending on
CONFIG_HW_PERF_EVENTS instead of CONFIG_PERF_EVENTS.

This patch restores the kconfig dependency for perf_callchain.o.

412fcb6ceb arm64: entry: always restore x0 from the stack on syscall return
We have a micro-optimisation on the fast syscall return path where we
take care to keep x0 live with the return value from the syscall so that
we can avoid restoring it from the stack. The benefit of doing this is
fairly suspect, since we will be restoring x1 from the stack anyway
(which lives adjacent in the pt_regs structure) and the only additional
cost is saving x0 back to pt_regs after the syscall handler, which could
be seen as a poor man's prefetch.

More importantly, this causes issues with the context tracking code.

The ct_user_enter macro ends up branching into C code, which is free to
use x0 as a scratch register and consequently leads to us returning junk
back to userspace as the syscall return value. Rather than special case
the context-tracking code, this patch removes the questionable
optimisation entirely.

878854a374 arm64: VDSO: fix coarse clock monotonicity regression
Since 906c55579a ("timekeeping: Copy the shadow-timekeeper over the
real timekeeper last") it has become possible on arm64 to:

- Obtain a CLOCK_MONOTONIC_COARSE or CLOCK_REALTIME_COARSE timestamp
  via syscall.
- Subsequently obtain a timestamp for the same clock ID via VDSO which
  predates the first timestamp (by one jiffy).

This is because arm64's update_vsyscall is deriving the coarse time
using the __current_kernel_time interface, when it should really be
using the timekeeper object provided to it by the timekeeping core.
It happened to work before only because __current_kernel_time would
access the same timekeeper object which had been passed to
update_vsyscall.  This is no longer the case.

This function may copy the si_addr_lsb, si_lower and si_upper fields to
user mode when they haven't been initialized, which can leak kernel
stack data to user mode.

Just checking the value of si_code is insufficient because the same
si_code value is shared between multiple signals.  This is solved by
checking the value of si_signo in addition to si_code.

3c00cb5e68 signal: fix information leak in copy_siginfo_from_user32
This function can leak kernel stack data when the user siginfo_t has a
positive si_code value.  The top 16 bits of si_code descibe which fields
in the siginfo_t union are active, but they are treated inconsistently
between copy_siginfo_from_user32, copy_siginfo_to_user32 and
copy_siginfo_to_user.

copy_siginfo_from_user32 is called from rt_sigqueueinfo and
rt_tgsigqueueinfo in which the user has full control overthe top 16 bits
of si_code.

This fixes the following information leaks:
x86:   8 bytes leaked when sending a signal from a 32-bit process to
       itself. This leak grows to 16 bytes if the process uses x32.
       (si_code = __SI_CHLD)
x86:   100 bytes leaked when sending a signal from a 32-bit process to
       a 64-bit process. (si_code = -1)
sparc: 4 bytes leaked when sending a signal from a 32-bit process to a
       64-bit process. (si_code = any)

parsic and s390 have similar bugs, but they are not vulnerable because
rt_[tg]sigqueueinfo have checks that prevent sending a positive si_code
to a different process.  These bugs are also fixed for consistency.

8ec4198743 arm64: mm: ensure patched kernel text is fetched from PoU
The arm64 booting document requires that the bootloader has cleaned the
kernel image to the PoC. However, when a CPU re-enters the kernel due to
either a CPU hotplug "on" event or resuming from a low-power state (e.g.
cpuidle), the kernel text may in-fact be dirty at the PoU due to things
like alternative patching or even module loading.

Thanks to I-cache speculation with the MMU off, stale instructions could
be fetched prior to enabling the MMU, potentially leading to crashes
when executing regions of code that have been modified at runtime.

This patch addresses the issue by ensuring that the local I-cache is
invalidated immediately after a CPU has enabled its MMU but before
jumping out of the identity mapping. Any stale instructions fetched from
the PoC will then be discarded and refetched correctly from the PoU.
Patching kernel text executed prior to the MMU being enabled is
prohibited, so the early entry code will always be clean.

04b8637be9 arm64: alternatives: ensure secondary CPUs execute ISB after patching
In order to guarantee that the patched instruction stream is visible to
a CPU, that CPU must execute an isb instruction after any related cache
maintenance has completed.

The instruction patching routines in kernel/insn.c get this right for
things like jump labels and ftrace, but the alternatives patching omits
it entirely leaving secondary cores in a potential limbo between the old
and the new code.

This patch adds an isb following the secondary polling loop in the
altenatives patching.

76b235c6bc jump_label: Rename JUMP_LABEL_{EN,DIS}ABLE to JUMP_LABEL_{JMP,NOP}
Since we've already stepped away from ENABLE is a JMP and DISABLE is a
NOP with the branch_default bits, and are going to make it even worse,
rename it to make it all clearer.

This way we don't mix multiple levels of logic attributes, but have a
plain 'physical' name for what the current instruction patching status
of a jump label is.

This is a first step in removing the naming confusion that has led to
a stream of avoidable bugs such as:

Commit 4b3dc9679c ("arm64: force CONFIG_SMP=y and remove redundant #ifdefs")
accidentally retained code for !CONFIG_SMP in cpu_resume function. This
resulted in the hash index being zeroed in x7 after proper computation,
which is then used to get the cpu context pointer while resuming.

This patch removes the remanant code and restores back the cpu suspend/
resume functionality.

72407514c9 ARM64: PCI: do not enable resources on PROBE_ONLY systems
On ARM64 PROBE_ONLY PCI systems resources are not currently claimed,
therefore they can't be enabled since they do not have a valid
parent pointer; this in turn prevents enabling PCI devices on
ARM64 PROBE_ONLY systems, causing PCI devices initialization to
fail.

To solve this issue, resources must be claimed when devices are
added on PROBE_ONLY systems, which ensures that the resource hierarchy
is validated and the resource tree is sane, but this requires changes
in the ARM64 resource management that can affect adversely existing
PCI set-ups (claiming resources on !PROBE_ONLY systems might break
existing ARM64 PCI platform implementations).

As a temporary solution in preparation for a proper resources claiming
implementation in ARM64 core, to enable PCI PROBE_ONLY systems on ARM64,
this patch adds a pcibios_enable_device() arch implementation that
simply prevents enabling resources on PROBE_ONLY systems (mirroring ARM
behaviour).

This is always a safe thing to do because on PROBE_ONLY systems the
configuration space set-up can be considered immutable, and it is in
preparation of proper resource claiming that would finally validate
the PCI resources tree in the ARM64 arch implementation on PROBE_ONLY
systems.

For !PROBE_ONLY systems resources enablement in pcibios_enable_device()
on ARM64 is implemented as in current PCI core, leaving the behaviour
unchanged.

When patching the kernel text with alternatives, we may end up patching
parts of the stop_machine state machine (e.g. atomic_dec_and_test in
ack_state) and consequently corrupt the instruction stream of any
secondary CPUs.

This patch passes the cpu_online_mask to stop_machine, forcing all of
the CPUs into our own callback which can place the secondary cores into
a dumb (but safe!) polling loop whilst the patching is carried out.

At boot, the UTF-16 UEFI vendor string is copied from the system
table into a char array with a size of 100 bytes. However, this
size of 100 bytes is also used for memremapping() the source,
which may not be sufficient if the vendor string exceeds 50
UTF-16 characters, and the placement of the vendor string inside
a 4 KB page happens to leave the end unmapped.

So use the correct '100 * sizeof(efi_char16_t)' for the size of
the mapping.

c09d6a04d1 arm64: atomics: patch in lse instructions when supported by the CPU
On CPUs which support the LSE atomic instructions introduced in ARMv8.1,
it makes sense to use them in preference to ll/sc sequences.

This patch introduces runtime patching of atomic_t and atomic64_t
routines so that the call-site for the out-of-line ll/sc sequences is
patched with an LSE atomic instruction when we detect that
the CPU supports it.

If binutils is not recent enough to assemble the LSE instructions, then
the ll/sc sequences are inlined as though CONFIG_ARM64_LSE_ATOMICS=n.

a4653228a0 arm64/BUG: Show explicit backtrace for WARNs
The generic slowpath WARN implementation prints a backtrace, but
the report_bug() based implementation does not, opting to print the
registers instead which is generally not as useful.

Ideally, report_bug() should be fixed to make the behaviour more
consistent, but in the meantime this patch generates a backtrace
directly from the arm64 backend instead so that this functionality
is not lost with the migration to report_bug().

As a side-effect, the backtrace will be outside the oops end
marker, but that's hard to avoid without modifying generic code.

This patch can go away if report_bug() grows the ability in the
future to generate a backtrace directly or call an arch hook at the
appropriate time.

9fb7410f95 arm64/BUG: Use BRK instruction for generic BUG traps
Currently, the minimal default BUG() implementation from asm-
generic is used for arm64.

This patch uses the BRK software breakpoint instruction to generate
a trap instead, similarly to most other arches, with the generic
BUG code generating the dmesg boilerplate.

This allows bug metadata to be moved to a separate table and
reduces the amount of inline code at BUG and WARN sites.  This also
avoids clobbering any registers before they can be dumped.

To mitigate the size of the bug table further, this patch makes
use of the existing infrastructure for encoding addresses within
the bug table as 32-bit offsets instead of absolute pointers.
(Note that this limits the kernel size to 2GB.)

Traps are registered at arch_initcall time for aarch64, but BUG
has minimal real dependencies and it is desirable to be able to
generate bug splats as early as possible.  This patch redirects
all debug exceptions caused by BRK directly to bug_handler() until
the full debug exception support has been initialised.

c696b93461 arm64/debug: Simplify BRK insn opcode declarations
The way the KGDB_DYN_BRK_INS_BYTEx macros are declared is more
complex than it needs to be.  Also, the macros are only used in one
place, which is arch-specific anyway.

This patch refactors the macros to simplify them, and exposes an
argument so that we can have a single macro instead of 4.

As a side effect, this patch also fixes some anomalous spellings of
"KGDB".

These changes alter the compile types of some integer constants
that are harmless but trigger truncation warnings in gcc when
assigning to 32-bit variables.  This patch adds an explicit cast
for the affected cases.

When allocating memory for the kernel image, try the AllocatePages()
boot service to obtain memory at the preferred offset of

e094d44568 arm64: kernel: remove non-legit DT warnings when booting using ACPI
Since both CONFIG_ACPI and CONFIG_OF are enabled when booting using ACPI
tables on ARM64 platforms, we get few device tree warnings which are not
valid for ACPI boot. We can use of_have_populated_dt to check if the
device tree is populated or not before throwing out those errors.

This patch uses of_have_populated_dt to remove non legitimate device
tree warning when booting using ACPI tables.

338d4f49d6 arm64: kernel: Add support for Privileged Access Never
'Privileged Access Never' is a new arm8.1 feature which prevents
privileged code from accessing any virtual address where read or write
access is also permitted at EL0.

This patch enables the PAN feature on all CPUs, and modifies {get,put}_user
helpers temporarily to permit access.

This will catch kernel bugs where user memory is accessed directly.
'Unprivileged loads and stores' using ldtrb et al are unaffected by PAN.

When a new cpu feature is available, the cpu feature bits will have some
initial value, which is incremented when the feature is updated.
This patch changes 'register_value' to be 'min_field_value', and checks
the feature bits value (interpreted as a signed int) is greater than this
minimum.

ae2fb7ece9 arm64: perf: condense event number maps
Most of the cache events an architecture might support do not map well
to those provided by the ARM architecture, and as such most entries in
the event number maps are *_UNSUPPORTED. Unfortuantely as 0 is a valid
physical event identifier, the *_UNSUPPORTED macros expand to a non-zero
value and thus each unsupported event must be explicitly initialised as
such. This leads to large diffs when adding support for a new CPU, and
makes it difficult to spot the important information.

This patch follows arch/arm/ in making use of PERF_*_ALL_UNSUPPORTED
macros to initialise all entries to *_UNSUPPORTED before overriding this
for the specific events we actually support, resulting in a significant
source code reduction.

5d220ff942 arm64: Better native ptrace support for compat tasks
The compat ptrace interface allows access to the TLS register, hardware
breakpoints and watchpoints, syscall number. However, a native task
using the native ptrace interface to debug compat tasks (e.g. multi-arch
gdb) only has access to the general and VFP register sets. The compat
ptrace interface cannot be accessed from a native task.

This patch adds a new user_aarch32_ptrace_view which contains the TLS,
hardware breakpoint/watchpoint and syscall number regsets in addition to
the existing GPR and VFP regsets. This view is backwards compatible with
the previous kernels. Core dumping of 32-bit tasks and compat ptrace are
not affected since the original user_aarch32_view is preserved.

d09ce834df arm64: perf: replace arch_find_n_match_cpu_physical_id with of_cpu_device_node_get
arch_find_n_match_cpu_physical_id parses the device tree to get the
device node for a given logical cpu index. However, since ARM PMUs get
probed after the CPU device nodes are stashed while registering the
cpus, we can use of_cpu_device_node_get to avoid another DT parse.

This patch replaces arch_find_n_match_cpu_physical_id with
of_cpu_device_node_get to reuse the stashed value directly instead.

ARM64 pmu prints an error message in event_init() when
no hardware PMU is available. This is pretty annoying as
it keeps printing the message for every single trial, flooding

84e690bfbe KVM: arm64: introduce vcpu->arch.debug_ptr
This introduces a level of indirection for the debug registers. Instead
of using the sys_regs[] directly we store registers in a structure in
the vcpu. The new kvm_arm_reset_debug_ptr() sets the debug ptr to the
guest context.

Because we no longer give the sys_regs offset for the sys_reg_desc->reg
field, but instead the index into a debug-specific struct we need to
add a number of additional trap functions for each register. Also as the
generic generic user-space access code no longer works we have
introduced a new pair of function pointers to the sys_reg_desc structure
to override the generic code when needed.

56c7f5e77f KVM: arm: introduce kvm_arm_init/setup/clear_debug
This is a precursor for later patches which will need to do more to
setup debug state before entering the hyp.S switch code. The existing
functionality for setting mdcr_el2 has been moved out of hyp.S and now
uses the value kept in vcpu->arch.mdcr_el2.

As the assembler used to previously mask and preserve MDCR_EL2.HPMN I've
had to add a mechanism to save the value of mdcr_el2 as a per-cpu
variable during the initialisation code. The kernel never sets this
number so we are assuming the bootcode has set up the correct value
here.

This also moves the conditional setting of the TDA bit from the hyp code
into the C code which is currently used for the lazy debug register
context switch code.

ad2daa85bd arm64: entry32: remove pointless register assignment
We currently set x27 in compat_sys_sigreturn_wrapper and
compat_sys_rt_sigreturn_wrapper, similarly to what we do with r8/why on
32-bit ARM, in an attempt to prevent sigreturns from being restarted.

However, on arm64 we have always used pt_regs::syscallno for syscall
restarting (for both native and compat tasks), and x27 is never
inspected again before being overwritten in kernel_exit.

This patch removes the pointless register assignments.

1b42804d27 arm64: entry: handle debug exceptions in el*_inv
Currently we enable debug exceptions before reading ESR_EL1 in both
el0_inv and el1_inv. If a debug exception is taken before we read
ESR_EL1, the value will have been corrupted.

As el*_inv is typically fatal, an intervening debug exception results in
misleading debug information being logged to the console, but is not
otherwise harmful.

As with the other entry paths, we can use the ESR_EL1 value stashed
earlier in the exception entry (in x25 for el0_sync{,_compat}, and x1
for el1_sync), giving us better error reporting in this case.

f9058929f2 ARM64 / SMP: Switch pr_err() to pr_debug() for disabled GICC entry
It is normal that firmware presents GICC entry or entries (processors)
with disabled flag in ACPI MADT, taking a system of 16 cpus for example,
ACPI firmware may present 8 ebabled first with another 8 cpus disabled
in MADT, the disabled cpus can be hot-added later.

Firmware may also present more cpus than the hardware actually has, but
disabled the unused ones, and easily enable it when the hardware has such
cpus to make the firmware code scalable.

So that's not an error for disabled cpus in MADT, we can switch pr_err()
to pr_debug() to make the boot a little quieter by default.

Since hwid for disabled cpus often are invalid, and we check invalid hwid
first in the code, for use case that hot add cpus later will be filtered
out and will not be counted in possible cups, so move this check before
the hwid one to prepare the code to count for disabeld cpus when cpu
hot-plug is introduced.

b265da5a45 arm64: perf: fix unassigned cpu_pmu->plat_device when probing PMU PPIs
Commit d795ef9aa8 ("arm64: perf: don't warn about missing
interrupt-affinity property for PPIs") added a check for PPIs so that
we avoid parsing the interrupt-affinity property for these naturally
affine interrupts.

Unfortunately, this check can trigger an early (successful) return and
we will not assign the value of cpu_pmu->plat_device. This patch fixes
the issue.

be081d9bf3 ARM64: smp: Fix suspicious RCU usage with ipi tracepoints
John Stultz reported an RCU splat on ARM with ipi trace events
enabled. It looks like the same problem exists on ARM64.

At this point in the IPI handling path we haven't called
irq_enter() yet, so RCU doesn't know that we're about to exit
idle and properly warns that we're using RCU from an idle CPU.
Use trace_ipi_entry_rcuidle() instead of trace_ipi_entry() so
that RCU is informed about our exit from idle.

86dca36e6b arm64: use private ratelimit state along with show_unhandled_signals
printk_ratelimit() shares the ratelimiting state with other callers what
may lead to scenarios where at the time we want to print out debug
information we already limited, so nothing appears in the dmesg - this
makes exception-trace quite poor helper in debugging.

Additionally, we have imbalance with some messages limited with global
ratelimit state and other messages limited with their private state
defined via pr_*_ratelimited().

To address this inconsistency show_unhandled_signals_ratelimited()
macro is introduced and caller sites are converted to use it.

6f1a6ae87c arm64: vdso: work-around broken ELF toolchains in Makefile
When building the kernel with a bare-metal (ELF) toolchain, the -shared
option may not be passed down to collect2, resulting in silent corruption
of the vDSO image (in particular, the DYNAMIC section is omitted).

The effect of this corruption is that the dynamic linker fails to find
the vDSO symbols and libc is instead used for the syscalls that we
intended to optimise (e.g. gettimeofday). Functionally, there is no
issue as the sigreturn trampoline is still intact and located by the
kernel.

This patch fixes the problem by explicitly passing -shared to the linker
when building the vDSO.

af391b15f7 arm64: kernel: rename __cpu_suspend to keep it aligned with arm
This patch renames __cpu_suspend to cpu_suspend so that it's aligned
with ARM32. It also removes the redundant wrapper created.

This is in preparation to implement generic PSCI system suspend using
the cpu_{suspend,resume} which now has the same interface on both ARM
and ARM64.

46b0567c85 arm64: entry: fix context tracking for el0_sp_pc
Commit 6c81fe7925 ("arm64: enable context tracking") did not
update el0_sp_pc to use ct_user_exit, but this appears to have been
unintentional. In commit 6ab6463aeb ("arm64: adjust el0_sync so
that a function can be called") we made x0 available, and in the return
to userspace we call ct_user_enter in the kernel_exit macro.

Due to this, we currently don't correctly inform RCU of the user->kernel
transition, and may erroneously account for time spent in the kernel as
if we were in an extended quiescent state when CONFIG_CONTEXT_TRACKING
is enabled.

As we do record the kernel->user transition, a userspace application
making accesses from an unaligned stack pointer can demonstrate the
imbalance, provoking the following warning:

8a14849b4a arm64: KVM: Switch vgic save/restore to alternative_insn
So far, we configured the world-switch by having a small array
of pointers to the save and restore functions, depending on the
GIC used on the platform.

Loading these values each time is a bit silly (they never change),
and it makes sense to rely on the instruction patching instead.

This leads to a nice cleanup of the code.

32365e64a2 arm64: fix bug for reloading FPSIMD state after CPU hotplug.
Now FPSIMD don't handle HOTPLUG_CPU. This introduces bug after cpu down/up process.

After cpu down/up process, the FPSMID hardware register is default value, not any
process's fpsimd context. when CPU_DEAD set cpu's fpsimd_state to NULL, it will force
to load the fpsimd context for the thread, to avoid the chance to skip to load the context.
If process A is the last user process on CPU N before cpu down, and the first user process
on the same CPU N after cpu up, A's fpsimd_state.cpu is the current cpu id,
and per_cpu(fpsimd_last_state) points A's fpsimd_state, so kernel will not reload the
context during it return to user space.

kernel thread's default fpsimd state is zero. When fork a thread, if parent is kernel thread,

04d7e098f5 arm64: fix missing syscall trace exit
If a syscall is entered without TIF_SYSCALL_TRACE set, then it goes on
the fast path.  It's then possible to have TIF_SYSCALL_TRACE added in
the middle of the syscall, but ret_fast_syscall doesn't check this flag
again.  This causes a ptrace syscall-exit-stop to be missed.

For instance, from a PTRACE_EVENT_FORK reported during do_fork, the
tracer might resume with PTRACE_SYSCALL, setting TIF_SYSCALL_TRACE.
Now the completion of the fork should have a syscall-exit-stop.

Russell King fixed this on arm by re-checking _TIF_SYSCALL_WORK in the
fast exit path.  Do the same on arm64.

7616fc8bcd arm64: alternative: Allow immediate branch as alternative instruction
Since all branches are PC-relative on AArch64, these instructions
cannot be used as an alternative with the simplistic approach
we currently have (the immediate has been computed from
the .altinstr_replacement section, and end-up being completely off
if the target is outside of the replacement sequence).

This patch handles the branch instructions in a different way,
using the insn framework to recompute the immediate, and generate
the right displacement in the above case.

10b48f7ef2 arm64: insn: Add aarch64_{get,set}_branch_offset
In order to deal with branches located in alternate sequences,
but pointing to the main kernel text, it is required to extract
the relative displacement encoded in the instruction, and to be
able to update said instruction with a new offset (once it is
known).

For this, we introduce three new helpers:
- aarch64_insn_is_branch_imm is a predicate indicating if the
  instruction is an immediate branch
- aarch64_get_branch_offset returns a signed value representing
  the byte offset encoded in a branch instruction
- aarch64_set_branch_offset takes an instruction and an offset,
  and returns the corresponding updated instruction.

5dfe9d7d23 arm64: reduce ID map to a single page
Commit ea8c2e1124 ("arm64: Extend the idmap to the whole kernel
image") changed the early page table code so that the entire kernel
Image is covered by the identity map. This allows functions that
need to enable or disable the MMU to reside anywhere in the kernel
Image.

However, this change has the unfortunate side effect that the Image
cannot cross a physical 512 MB alignment boundary anymore, since the
early page table code cannot deal with the Image crossing a /virtual/
512 MB alignment boundary.

So instead, reduce the ID map to a single page, that is populated by
the contents of the .idmap.text section. Only three functions reside
there at the moment: __enable_mmu(), cpu_resume_mmu() and cpu_reset().
If new code is introduced that needs to manipulate the MMU state, it
should be added to this section as well.

61bd93ce80 arm64: use fixmap region for permanent FDT mapping
Currently, the FDT blob needs to be in the same 512 MB region as
the kernel, so that it can be mapped into the kernel virtual memory
space very early on using a minimal set of statically allocated
translation tables.

Now that we have early fixmap support, we can relax this restriction,
by moving the permanent FDT mapping to the fixmap region instead.
This way, the FDT blob may be anywhere in memory.

This also moves the vetting of the FDT to mmu.c, since the early
init code in head.S does not handle mapping of the FDT anymore.
At the same time, fix up some comments in head.S that have gone stale.

5882bfef63 arm,arm64/xen: move Xen initialization earlier
Currently, Xen is initialized/discovered in an initcall. This doesn't
allow us to support earlyprintk or choosing the preferred console when
running on Xen.

The current function xen_guest_init is now split in 2 parts:
    - xen_early_init: Check if there is a Xen node in the device tree
    and setup domain type
    - xen_guest_init: Retrieve the information from the device node and
    initialize Xen (grant table, shared page...)

The former is called in setup_arch, while the latter is an initcall.

ACPI 6.0 formalizes e820-type-7 and efi-type-14 as persistent memory.
Mark it "reserved" and allow it to be claimed by a persistent memory
device driver.

This definition is in addition to the Linux kernel's existing type-12
definition that was recently added in support of shipping platforms with
NVDIMM support that predate ACPI 6.0 (which now classifies type-12 as
OEM reserved).

Note, /proc/iomem can be consulted for differentiating legacy
"Persistent Memory (legacy)" E820_PRAM vs standard "Persistent Memory"
E820_PMEM.

c5a1330573 arm64: psci: remove ACPI coupling
The 32-bit ARM port doesn't have ACPI headers, and conditionally
including them is going to look horrendous. In preparation for sharing
the PSCI invocation code with 32-bit, move the acpi_psci_* function
declarations and definitions such that the PSCI client code need not
include ACPI headers.

While it would seem like we could simply hide the ACPI includes in
psci.h, the ACPI headers have hilarious circular dependencies which make
this infeasible without reorganising most of ACPICA. So rather than
doing that, move the acpi_psci_* prototypes into psci.h.

The psci_acpi_init function is made dependent on CONFIG_ACPI (with a
stub implementation in asm/psci.h) such that it need not be built for
32-bit ARM or kernels without ACPI support. The currently missing __init
annotations are added to the prototypes in the header.

c8cc427377 arm64: psci: kill psci_power_state
A PSCI 1.0 implementation may choose to use the new extended StateID
format, the presence of which may be queried via the PSCI_FEATURES call.
The layout of this new StateID format is incompatible with the existing
format, and so to handle both we must abstract attempts to parse the
fields.

In preparation for PSCI 1.0 support, this patch introduces
psci_power_state_loses_context and psci_power_state_is_valid functions
to query information from a PSCI power state, which is no longer
decomposed (and hence the pack/unpack functions are removed). As it is
no longer decomposed, it is now passed round as an opaque u32 token.

ff3010e6fc arm64: psci: account for Trusted OS instances
Software resident in the secure world (a "Trusted OS") may cause CPU_OFF
calls for the CPU it is resident on to be denied. Such a denial would be
fatal for the kernel, and so we must detect when this can happen before
the point of no return.

This patch implements Trusted OS detection for PSCI 0.2+ systems, using
MIGRATE_INFO_TYPE and MIGRATE_INFO_UP_CPU. When a trusted OS is detected
as resident on a particular CPU, attempts to hot unplug that CPU will be
denied early, before they can prove fatal.

Trusted OS migration is not implemented by this patch. Implementation of
migratable UP trusted OSs seems unlikely, and the right policy for
migration is unclear (and will likely differ across implementations). As
such, it is likely that migration will require cooperation with Trusted
OS drivers.

PSCI implementations prior to 0.1 do not provide the facility to detect
the presence of a Trusted OS, nor the CPU any such OS is resident on, so
without additional information it is not possible to handle Trusted OSs
with PSCI 0.1.

a06eed3e90 arm64: psci: support unsigned return values
PSCI_VERSION and MIGRATE_INFO_TYPE_UP_CPU return unsigned values, with
the latter returning a 64-bit value. However, the PSCI invocation
functions have prototypes returning int.

This patch upgrades the invocation functions to return unsigned long,
with a new typedef to keep things legible. As PSCI_VERSION cannot return
a negative value, the erroneous check against PSCI_RET_NOT_SUPPORTED is
also removed. The unrelated psci_initcall_t typedef is moved closer to
its first user, to avoid confusion with the invocation functions.

In preparation for sharing the code with ARM, unsigned long is used in
preference of u64. In the SMC32 calling convention, the relevant fields
will be 32 bits wide.

2a7cd0ebfc arm64: psci: remove unnecessary id indirection
PSCI 0.1 did not define canonical IDs for CPU_ON, CPU_OFF, CPU_SUSPEND,
or MIGRATE, and so these need to be provided when using firmware
compliant to PSCI 0.1.

However, functions introduced in 0.2 or later have canonical IDs, and
these cannot be provided via DT. There's no need to indirect the IDs via
a table; they can be used directly at callsites (and already are for
SYSTEM_OFF and SYSTEM_RESET).

This patch removes the unnecessary function ID indirection for
AFFINITY_INFO and MIGRATE_INFO_TYPE.

05981277a4 arm64: Use common outgoing-CPU-notification code
This commit removes the open-coded CPU-offline notification with new
common code.  In particular, this change avoids calling scheduler code
using RCU from an offline CPU that RCU is ignoring.  This is a minimal
change.  A more intrusive change might invoke the cpu_check_up_prepare()
and cpu_set_state_online() functions at CPU-online time, which would
allow onlining throw an error if the CPU did not go offline properly.

The code that initializes cpus on arm64 is currently split in two
different code paths that carry out DT and ACPI cpus initialization.

Most of the code executing SMP initialization is common and should
be merged to reduce discrepancies between ACPI and DT initialization
and to have code initializing cpus in a single common place in the
kernel.

This patch refactors arm64 SMP cpus initialization code to merge
ACPI and DT boot paths in a common file and to create sanity
checks that can be reused by both boot methods.

Current code assumes PSCI is the only available boot method
when arm64 boots with ACPI; this can be easily extended if/when
the ACPI parking protocol is merged into the kernel.

819a88263d ARM64: kernel: make cpu_ops hooks DT agnostic
ARM64 CPU operations such as cpu_init and cpu_init_idle take
a struct device_node pointer as a parameter, which corresponds to
the device tree node of the logical cpu on which the operation
has to be applied.

With the advent of ACPI on arm64, where MADT static table entries
are used to initialize cpus, the device tree node parameter
in cpu_ops hooks become useless when booting with ACPI, since
in that case cpu device tree nodes are not present and can not be
used for cpu initialization.

The current cpu_init hook requires a struct device_node pointer
parameter because it is called while parsing the device tree to
initialize CPUs, when the cpu_logical_map (that is used to match
a cpu node reg property to a device tree node) for a given logical
cpu id is not set up yet. This means that the cpu_init hook cannot
rely on the of_get_cpu_node function to retrieve the device tree
node corresponding to the logical cpu id passed in as parameter,
so the cpu device tree node must be passed in as a parameter to fix
this catch-22 dependency cycle.

This patch reshuffles the cpu_logical_map initialization code so
that the cpu_init cpu_ops hook can safely use the of_get_cpu_node
function to retrieve the cpu device tree node, removing the need for
the device tree node pointer parameter.

In the process, the patch removes device tree node parameters
from all cpu_ops hooks, in preparation for SMP DT/ACPI cpus
initialization consolidation.

68234df4ea arm64: kill flush_cache_all()
The documented semantics of flush_cache_all are not possible to provide
for arm64 (short of flushing the entire physical address space by VA),
and there are currently no users; KVM uses VA maintenance exclusively,
cpu_reset is never called, and the only two users outside of arch code
cannot be built for arm64.

While cpu_soft_reset and related functions (which call flush_cache_all)
were thought to be useful for kexec, their current implementations only
serve to mask bugs. For correctness kexec will need to perform
maintenance by VA anyway to account for system caches, line migration,
and other subtleties of the cache architecture. As the extent of this
cache maintenance will be kexec-specific, it should probably live in the
kexec code.

This patch removes flush_cache_all, and related unused components,
preventing further abuse.

4801ba338a arm64: perf: fix memory leak when probing PMU PPIs
Commit d795ef9aa8 ("arm64: perf: don't warn about missing
interrupt-affinity property for PPIs") added a check for PPIs so that
we avoid parsing the interrupt-affinity property for these naturally
affine interrupts.

Unfortunately, this check can trigger an early (successful) return and
we will leak the irqs array. This patch fixes the issue by reordering
the code so that the check is performed before any independent
allocation.

This reverts most of commit fef7f2b201.

It turns out that there are a couple of problems with the way we're
fixing up branch instructions used as part of alternative instruction
sequences:

  (1) If the branch target is also in the alternative sequence, we'll
      generate a branch into the .altinstructions section which actually
      gets freed.

  (2) The calls to aarch64_insn_{read,write} bring an awful lot more
      code into the patching path (e.g. taking locks, poking the fixmap,
      invalidating the TLB) which isn't actually needed for the early
      patching run under stop_machine, but makes the use of alternative
      sequences extremely fragile (as we can't patch code that could be
      used by the patching code).

Given that no code actually requires alternative patching of immediate
branches, let's remove this support for now and revisit it when we've
got a user. We leave the updated size check, since we really do require
the sequences to be the same length.

This patch fixes the name to that of the pmu node.

  also a Linaro-driven effort to get this supported on top of the Linux
  kernel.  This pull request is the result of that work.

  These changes allow us to initialise the CPUs, interrupt controller,
  and timers via ACPI tables, with memory information and cmdline coming
  from EFI.  We don't support a hybrid ACPI/FDT scheme.  Of course,
  there is still plenty of work to do (a serial console would be nice!)
  but I expect that to happen on a per-driver basis after this core
  series has been merged.

  Anyway, the diff stat here is fairly horrible, but splitting this up
  and merging it via all the different subsystems would have been
  extremely painful.  Instead, we've got all the relevant Acks in place
  and I've not seen anything other than trivial (Kconfig) conflicts in
  -next (for completeness, I've included my resolution below).  Nearly
  half of the insertions fall under Documentation/.

  So, we'll see how this goes.  Right now, it all depends on EXPERT and

6d1966dfd6 arm64: fix midr range for Cortex-A57 erratum 832075
Register MIDR_EL1 is masked to get variant and revision fields, then
compared against midr_range_min and midr_range_max when checking
whether CPU is affected by any particular erratum. However, variant
and revision fields in MIDR_EL1 are separated by 16 bits, so the min
and max of midr range should be constructed accordingly, otherwise
the patch will not be applied when variant field is non-0.

905e8c5dca arm64: errata: add workaround for cortex-a53 erratum #845719
When running a compat (AArch32) userspace on Cortex-A53, a load at EL0
from a virtual address that matches the bottom 32 bits of the virtual
address used by a recent load at (AArch64) EL1 might return incorrect
data.

This patch works around the issue by writing to the contextidr_el1
register on the exception return path when returning to a 32-bit task.
This workaround is patched in at runtime based on the MIDR value of the
processor.

ec81ad4eca ARM64 / ACPI: Ignore the return error value of acpi_map_gic_cpu_interface()
MADT scanning will stop when it gets an error from the handler,
acpi_map_gic_cpu_interface(), on arm64.  However, we need to
find all of the enabled CPUs so that SMP initialization can work
properly.  So, if an error occurs in this case, ignore it for
now so that we can find all of the enabled CPUs.

fef7f2b201 arm64: alternative: Allow immediate branch as alternative instruction
Since all immediate branches are PC-relative on Aarch64, these
instructions cannot be used as an alternative with the simplistic
approach we currently have (the immediate has been computed from
the .altinstr_replacement section, and end-up being completely off
if we insert it directly).

This patch handles the b and bl instructions in a different way,
using the insn framework to recompute the immediate, and generate
the right displacement.

54971e43b9 ARM64: kernel: acpi: refactor ACPI tables init and checks
Current ACPI init code on ARM64 relies on acpi_table_parse() API to
check if the FADT is present and to carry out sanity checks on that.

The handler passed to the acpi_table_parse() function and used to
carry out the parsing on the requested table returns a value that is
ignored by the acpi_table_parse() function, so it is not possible
to propagate errors back to the acpi_table_parse() caller through
the handler.

This forces ARM64 ACPI init code to have disable_acpi() calls scattered
all over the place that makes code unwieldy and not easy to follow.

This patch refactors the ARM64 ACPI init code, by creating a
self-contained function (ie acpi_fadt_sanity_check()) that carries
out the required checks on FADT and returns an adequate return value
to the caller. This allows creating a common error path that disables
ACPI and makes code more readable and easy to parse and change were
further checks FADT to be added in the future.

PSCI v0.2+ versions provide a specific PSCI call (PSCI_VERSION) to
detect the PSCI version at run-time. Current PSCI v0.2 init code
carries out the version probing in the PSCI 0.2 DT init function,
but the version probing does not depend on DT so it can be factored out
in order to make it available to other boot mechanisms (ie ACPI) to
reuse. The psci_probe() probing function can be easily extended
to add detection and initialization of PSCI functions defined in
PSCI versions >0.2.

d8f4f161e3 ACPI: move arm64 GSI IRQ model to generic GSI IRQ layer
The code deployed to implement GSI linux IRQ numbers mapping on arm64 turns
out to be generic enough so that it can be moved to ACPI core code along
with its respective config option ACPI_GENERIC_GSI selectable on
architectures that can reuse the same code.

Current ACPI IRQ mapping code is not integrated in the kernel IRQ domain
infrastructure, in particular there is no way to look-up the
IRQ domain associated with a particular interrupt controller, so this
first version of GSI generic code carries out the GSI<->IRQ mapping relying
on the IRQ default domain which is supposed to be always set on a
specific architecture in case the domain structure passed to
irq_create/find_mapping() functions is missing.

This patch moves the arm64 acpi functions that implement the gsi mappings:

acpi_gsi_to_irq()
acpi_register_gsi()
acpi_unregister_gsi()

to ACPI core code. Since the generic GSI<->domain mapping is based on IRQ
domains, it can be extended as soon as a way to map an interrupt
controller to an IRQ domain is implemented for ACPI in the IRQ domain
layer.

x86 and ia64 code for GSI mappings cannot rely on the generic GSI
layer at present for legacy reasons, so they do not select the
ACPI_GENERIC_GSI config options and keep relying on their arch
specific GSI mapping layer.

ACPI reduced hardware mode is disabled by default, but ARM64
can only run properly in ACPI hardware reduced mode, so select
ACPI_REDUCED_HARDWARE_ONLY if ACPI is enabled on ARM64.

If the firmware is not using hardware reduced ACPI mode, we
will disable ACPI to avoid nightmare such as accessing some
registers which are not available on ARM64.

d60fc3892c irqchip: Add GICv2 specific ACPI boot support
ACPI kernel uses MADT table for proper GIC initialization. It needs to
parse GIC related subtables, collect CPU interface and distributor
addresses and call driver initialization function (which is hardware
abstraction agnostic). In a similar way, FDT initialize GICv1/2.

NOTE: This commit allow to initialize GICv1/2 basic functionality.
While now simple GICv2 init call is used, any further GIC features
require generic infrastructure for proper ACPI irqchip initialization.
That mechanism and stacked irqdomains to support GICv2 MSI/virtualization
extension, GICv3/4 and its ITS are considered as next steps.

Introduce ACPI_IRQ_MODEL_GIC which is needed for ARM64 as GIC is
used, and then register device's gsi with the core IRQ subsystem.

acpi_register_gsi() is similar to DT based irq_of_parse_and_map(),
since gsi is unique in the system, so use hwirq number directly
for the mapping.

We are going to implement stacked domains when GICv2m, GICv3, ITS
support are added.

fccb9a81fd ARM64 / ACPI: Parse MADT for SMP initialization
MADT contains the information for MPIDR which is essential for
SMP initialization, parse the GIC cpu interface structures to
get the MPIDR value and map it to cpu_logical_map(), and add
enabled cpu with valid MPIDR into cpu_possible_map.

ACPI 5.1 only has two explicit methods to boot up SMP, PSCI and
Parking protocol, but the Parking protocol is only specified for
ARMv7 now, so make PSCI as the only way for the SMP boot protocol
before some updates for the ACPI spec or the Parking protocol spec.

Parking protocol patches for SMP boot will be sent to upstream when
the new version of Parking protocol is ready.

7c59a3df15 ARM64 / ACPI: Get PSCI flags in FADT for PSCI init
There are two flags: PSCI_COMPLIANT and PSCI_USE_HVC. When set,
the former signals to the OS that the firmware is PSCI compliant.
The latter selects the appropriate conduit for PSCI calls by
toggling between Hypervisor Calls (HVC) and Secure Monitor Calls
(SMC).

FADT table contains such information in ACPI 5.1, FADT table was
parsed in ACPI table init and copy to struct acpi_gbl_FADT, so
use the flags in struct acpi_gbl_FADT for PSCI init.

Since ACPI 5.1 doesn't support self defined PSCI function IDs,
which means that only PSCI 0.2+ is supported in ACPI.

This implements the following policy to decide whether ACPI should
be used to boot the system:
- acpi=off: ACPI will not be used to boot the system, even if there is
  no alternative available (e.g., device tree is empty)
- acpi=force: only ACPI will be used to boot the system; if that fails,
  there will be no fallback to alternative methods (such as device tree)
- otherwise, ACPI will be used as a fallback if the device tree turns out
  to lack a platform description; the heuristic to decide this is whether
  /chosen is the only node present at depth 1

make CONFIG_ACPI depend CONFIG_PCI on ARM64 will satisfy both.

With that case, we need some arch dependent PCI functions to
access the config space before the PCI root bridge is created, and
pci_acpi_scan_root() to create the PCI root bus. So introduce
some stub function here to make ACPI core compile and revisit
them later when implemented on ARM64.

37655163ce ARM64 / ACPI: Get RSDP and ACPI boot-time tables
As we want to get ACPI tables to parse and then use the information
for system initialization, we should get the RSDP (Root System
Description Pointer) first, it then locates Extended Root Description
Table (XSDT) which contains all the 64-bit physical address that
pointer to other boot-time tables.

Introduce acpi.c and its related head file in this patch to provide
fundamental needs of extern variables and functions for ACPI core,
and then get boot-time tables as needed.
  - asm/acenv.h for arch specific ACPICA environments and
    implementation, It is needed unconditionally by ACPI core;
  - asm/acpi.h for arch specific variables and functions needed by
    ACPI driver core;
  - acpi.c for ARM64 related ACPI implementation for ACPI driver
    core;

acpi_boot_table_init() is introduced to get RSDP and boot-time tables,
it will be called in setup_arch() before paging_init(), so we should
use eary_memremap() mechanism here to get the RSDP and all the table
pointers.

FADT Major.Minor version was introduced in ACPI 5.1, it is the same
as ACPI version.

In ACPI 5.1, some major gaps are fixed for ARM, such as updates in
MADT table for GIC and SMP init, without those updates, we can not
get the MPIDR for SMP init, and GICv2/3 related init information, so
we can't boot arm64 ACPI properly with table versions predating 5.1.

If firmware provides ACPI tables with ACPI version less than 5.1,
OS has no way to retrieve the configuration data that is necessary
to init SMP boot protocol and the GIC properly, so disable ACPI if
we get an FADT table with version less that 5.1 when acpi_boot_table_init()
called.

0c20856c26 arm64: head.S: ensure idmap_t0sz is visible
We write idmap_t0sz with SCTLR_EL1.{C,M} clear, but we only have the
guarnatee that the kernel Image is clean, not invalid in the caches, and
therefore we might read a stale value once the MMU is enabled.

This patch ensures we invalidate the corresponding cacheline after the
write as we do for all other data written before we set SCTLR_EL1.{C.M},
guaranteeing that the value will be visible later. We rely on the DSBs
in __create_page_tables to complete the maintenance.

d5efd9cc9c arm64: pmu: add support for interrupt-affinity property
Historically, the PMU devicetree bindings have expected SPIs to be
listed in order of *logical* CPU number. This is problematic for
bootloaders, especially when the boot CPU (logical ID 0) isn't listed
first in the devicetree.

This patch adds a new optional property, interrupt-affinity, to the
PMU node which allows the interrupt affinity to be described using
a list of phandled to CPU nodes, with each entry in the list
corresponding to the SPI at the same index in the interrupts property.

91d57155dc arm64: head.S: ensure visibility of page tables
After writing the page tables, we use __inval_cache_range to invalidate
any stale cache entries. Strongly Ordered memory accesses are not
ordered w.r.t. cache maintenance instructions, and hence explicit memory
barriers are required to provide this ordering. However,
__inval_cache_range was written to be used on Normal Cacheable memory
once the MMU and caches are on, and does not have any barriers prior to
the DC instructions.

This patch adds a DMB between the page tables being written and the
corresponding cachelines being invalidated, ensuring that the
invalidation makes the new data visible to subsequent cacheable
accesses. A barrier is not required before the prior invalidate as we do
not access the page table memory area prior to this, and earlier
barriers in preserve_boot_args and set_cpu_boot_mode_flag ensures
ordering w.r.t. any stores performed prior to entering Linux.
