4f044a88a8 drm/i915: Rename global i915 to i915_modparams
Our global struct with params is named exactly the same way
as new preferred name for the drm_i915_private function parameter.
To avoid such name reuse lets use different name for the global.

v5: pure rename
v6: fix

dc911f5bd8 drm/i915/edp: Allow alternate fixed mode for eDP if available.
Some fixed resolution panels actually support more than one mode,
with the only thing different being the refresh rate. Having this
alternate mode available to us is desirable, because it allows us to
test PSR on panels whose setup time at the preferred mode is too long.
With this patch we allow the use of the alternate mode if it's
available and it was specifically requested.

e9d7486eac drm/i915: fix backlight invert for non-zero minimum brightness
When we started following the backlight minimum brightness in
6dda730e55 ("drm/i915: respect the VBT minimum backlight brightness")
we overlooked the brightness invert quirk. Even if we invert the
brightness, we need to take the min limit into account. We probably
missed this because the invert has only been required on gen4 for proper
operation.

7d025e0804 drm/i915: Pass atomic state to backlight enable/disable/set callbacks.
Pass crtc_state to the enable callback, and connector_state to all callbacks.
This will eliminate the need to guess for the correct pipe in these
callbacks.

The crtc state is required for pch_enable_backlight to obtain the correct
cpu_transcoder.

intel_dp_aux_backlight's setup function is called before hw readout, so
crtc_state and connector_state->best_encoder are NULL in the enable()
and set() callbacks.

49cd97a35d drm/i915: Start moving the cdclk stuff into a distinct state structure
Introduce intel_cdclk state which for now will track the cdclk
frequency, the vco frequency and the reference frequency (not sure we
want the last one, but I put it there anyway). We'll also make the
.get_cdclk() function fill out this state structure rather than
just returning the current cdclk frequency.

One immediate benefit is that calling .get_cdclk() will no longer
clobber state stored under dev_priv unless ex[plicitly told to do
so. Previously it clobbered the vco and reference clocks stored
there on some platforms.

We'll expand the use of this structure to actually precomputing the
state and whatnot later.

ecc5fbd5ef pwm: Changes for v4.7-rc1
This set of changes introduces an atomic API to the PWM subsystem. This
is influenced by the DRM atomic API that was introduced a while back,
though it is obviously a lot simpler. The fundamental idea remains the
same, though: drivers provide a single callback to implement the atomic
 configuration of a PWM channel.

As a side-effect the PWM subsystem gains the ability for initial state
retrieval, so that the logical state mirrors that of the hardware. Many
use-cases don't care about this, but for others it is essential.

These new features require changes in all users, which these patches
take care of. The core is transitioned to use the atomic callback if
available and provides a fallback mechanism for other drivers.

Changes to transition users and drivers to the atomic API are postponed
 to v4.8.

e7dc33f332 drm/i915: Store rawclk_freq in dev_priv
Generalize rawclk handling by storing it in dev_priv.

Presumably our hrawclk readout works at least for CTG and ELK
since we've been using it for DP AUX on those platforms. There
are no real docs anymore after configdb vanished, so the only
reference is the public CTG GMCH spec. What bits are listed in
that doc match our code. The ELK GMCH spec have no relevant
details unfortunately.

The PNV situation is less clear. Starting from
commit aa17cdb4f8 ("drm/i915: initialize backlight max from VBT")
we assume that the CTG/ELK hrawclk readout works for PNV as well.
At least the results *seem* reasonable for one PNV machine (Lenovo
Ideapad S10-3t). Sadly the PNV GMCH spec doesn't have the goods on
the relevant register either.

So let's keep assuming it works for PNV,ELK,CTG and read it out on
those platforms. G33 also has hrawclk according to some notes
in BSpec, but we don't actually need it for anything, so let's not
even try to read it out there.

83d83392e3 drm/i915: Fix vbt PWM max setup for CTG
CTG uses hrawclk for backlight, so calculate the max based on that
instead of cdclk.

Although we don't support or enable CPU PWM with LPT/SPT based systems,

The issue has been present on BDW since BDW enabling, but was recently

022e4e52a7 drm/i915/bxt: Modify BXT BLC according to VBT changes
Latest VBT mentions which set of registers will be used for BLC,
as controller number field. Making use of this field in BXT
BLC implementation. Also, the registers are used in case control
pin indicates display DDI. Adding a check for this.
According to Bspec, BLC_PWM_*_2 uses the display utility pin for output.
To use backlight 2, enable the utility pin with mode = PWM
   v2: Jani's review comments
   addressed
       - Add a prefix _ to BXT BLC registers definitions.
       - Add "bxt only" comment for u8 controller
       - Remove control_pin check for DDI controller
       - Check for valid controller values
       - Set pipe bits in UTIL_PIN_CTL
       - Enable/Disable UTIL_PIN_CTL in enable/disable_backlight()
       - If BLC 2 is used, read active_low_pwm from UTIL_PIN polarity
   Satheesh's review comment addressed
       - If UTIL PIN is already enabled, BIOS would have programmed it. No
need to disable and enable again.
   v3: Jani's review comments
       - add UTIL_PIN_PIPE_MASK and UTIL_PIN_MODE_MASK
       - Disable UTIL_PIN if controller 1 is used
       - Mask out UTIL_PIN_PIPE_MASK and UTIL_PIN_MODE_MASK before enabling
       UTIL_PIN
       - check valid controller value in intel_bios.c
       - add backlight.util_pin_active_low
       - disable util pin before enabling
   v4: Change for BXT-PO branch:
Stubbed unwanted definition which was existing before
   because of DC6 patch.
   UTIL_PIN_MODE_PWM (0x1b << 24)

v2: Fixed Jani's review comment.

v3: Split the backight PWM frequency programming into separate patch,
in cases BIOS doesn't initializes it.

v4: Starting afresh and not modifying existing state for backlight, as
    per Jani's recommendation.

v5: Fixed Jani's review comment wrt util pin enable

5507faeb03 drm/i915: make backlight hooks connector specific
Previously we've relied on having basically one backlight and one
backlight type per platform. This is already a bit quirky with PMIC PWM
support on VLV/CHV platforms with MIPI DSI. In the foreseeable future
we'll have at least DPCD based backlight control on eDP and DCS command
based backlight control on MIPI DSI. Backlight is becoming more and more
connector specific, so reflect this fact by making the backlight control
hooks connector specific.

This enables further work to reuse generic backlight code in
intel_panel.c while adding more specific backlight code accessed via the
hooks.
