This does a sweeping change fixing up all the missing system_misc.h and
system_info.h includes from the system.h split-up change. These were the
ones I came across when building all defconfigs in arch/arm/configs, there
might be more but they lack adequate build coverage to be easily caught.
I'm expecting to get a lot of these piecemeal by each maintainer, so we
might just as well do one sweeping change to get them all at once.

Commit 68b7f715 ("nommu: ptrace support") added definitions for
PT_TEXT_ADDR and friends, as well as adding ptrace support for reading
from these magic offsets.
Unfortunately, this has probably never worked, since ptrace_read_user
predicates reading on off < sizeof(struct user), returning -EIO
otherwise.
This patch moves the offset size check until after we have tried to
match it against either a magic value or an offset into pt_regs.

We have lots of infrastructure in place to partition multi-core systems
such that we have a group of CPUs that are dedicated to specific task:
cgroups, scheduler and interrupt affinity, and cpuisol= boot parameter.
Still, kernel code will at times interrupt all CPUs in the system via IPIs
for various needs. These IPIs are useful and cannot be avoided
altogether, but in certain cases it is possible to interrupt only specific
CPUs that have useful work to do and not the entire system.
This patch set, inspired by discussions with Peter Zijlstra and Frederic
Weisbecker when testing the nohz task patch set, is a first stab at trying
to explore doing this by locating the places where such global IPI calls
are being made and turning the global IPI into an IPI for a specific group
of CPUs. The purpose of the patch set is to get feedback if this is the
right way to go for dealing with this issue and indeed, if the issue is
even worth dealing with at all. Based on the feedback from this patch set
I plan to offer further patches that address similar issue in other code
paths.
This patch creates an on_each_cpu_mask() and on_each_cpu_cond()
infrastructure API (the former derived from existing arch specific
versions in Tile and Arm) and uses them to turn several global IPI
invocation to per CPU group invocations.
Core kernel:
on_each_cpu_mask() calls a function on processors specified by cpumask,
which may or may not include the local processor.
You must not call this function with disabled interrupts or from a
hardware interrupt handler or from a bottom half handler.
arch/arm:
Note that the generic version is a little different then the Arm one:
1. It has the mask as first parameter
2. It calls the function on the calling CPU with interrupts disabled,
but this should be OK since the function is called on the other CPUs
with interrupts disabled anyway.
arch/tile:
The API is the same as the tile private one, but the generic version
also calls the function on the with interrupts disabled in UP case
This is OK since the function is called on the other CPUs
with interrupts disabled.

These are all specific to some driver. They are typically the platform
side of a change in the drivers directory, such as adding a new driver
or extending the interface to the platform. In cases where there is no
maintainer for the driver, or the maintainer prefers to have the
platform changes in the same branch as the driver changes, the patches
to the drivers are included as well.
A much smaller set of driver updates that depend on other branches
getting merged first will be sent later.
The new export of tegra_chip_uid conflicts with other changes in fuse.c.
In rtc-sa1100.c, the global removal of IRQF_DISABLED conflicts with
the cleanup of the interrupt handling of that driver.

the number of board files low, but generally board level updates are
ok on platforms that are working on moving towards DT based probing,
which will eventually lead to removing them.
The board-ams-delta.c board file gets a conflict between the removal of
ams_delta_config and the addition of a lot of other data. The Kconfig
file has two changes in the same line, and in exynos, the power domain
cleanup conflicts with the addition of the image sensor device.

External circuitry like level shifters may limit the maximum operation

This patch is part of a set which fixes unnecessary flash erase and write errors
resulting from the MTD CFI driver turning off vpp while an erase is in progress.
This patch allows physmap_set_vpp() calls to be nested by adding a reference
counter.
omap1_set_vpp() already used a reference counter. Since it is called from
physmap_set_vpp(), omap1_set_vpp() can now be simplified.
simtec_nor_vpp() already disabled hard interrupts. Since it is called from
physmap_set_vpp(), simtec_nor_vpp() can now be simplified.

Address Latch Enable (ALE) and Command Latch Enable (CLE) defines are
platform specific and were wrongly put in driver specific fsmc.h file.
Move such defines to their respective platform.
Also instead of relying on fsmc driver, pass ALE, CLE offsets explicitly
from individual platform.

Move the header to a more common place.
The mxs dma engine is not only used in mx23/mx28, but also used
in mx50/mx6q. It will also be used in the future chips.
Rename it to mxs-dma.h, and create a new folder include/linux/fsl/ to
store the Freescale's header files.
change mxs-dma driver, mxs-mmc driver, gpmi-nand driver, mxs-saif driver
to the new header file.

The only users of ARCH_HAS_DMA_SET_COHERENT_MASK are 2 ARM platforms:
ixp4xx and pxa cm_x2xx. We've been getting lucky that the define is
implicitly included before dma-mapping.h, but the removal of io.h broke
things (c334bc1 ARM: make mach/io.h include optional). Since memory.h
is the correct place, but no longer exists, convert the define to a
kconfig entry.

The pxa regulator branch removes the bq24022 driver, while a lot of
other regulator drivers got added in the regulator tree. This

Some platforms don't want certain devices to be registered, because,
eg, the interface is not wired. Provide a way for platforms to
prevent various devices from being registered via a devid bitmask in
the platform data.

XIP_VIRT_ADDR is needed for XIP builds and currently only defined for
builds with CONFIG_MMU.
Also provide it for no-MMU builds to make it possible to build an XIP
kernel for MMU-less machines. As these lack an MMU it has to be an
identity mapping.

Based of Matt Evans's PPC64 implementation.
The compiler generates ARM instructions but interworking is
supported for Thumb2 kernels.
Supports both little and big endian. Unaligned loads are emitted
for ARMv6+. Not all the BPF opcodes that deal with ancillary data
are supported. The scratch memory of the filter lives on the stack.
Hardware integer division is used if it is available.
Enabled in the same way as for x86-64 and PPC64:
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/core/bpf_jit_enable
A value greater than 1 enables opcode output.

Add the arch-specific code to support jump labels for ARM and Thumb-2.
This code will only be activated on compilers that are capable of
building it. It has been tested with GCC 4.6 patched with the patch
from GCC bug 48637.

This is a very simple method for code running in an emulator, or under
the supervision of a debugger, to use I/O facilities on the controlling
host.
Tested with OpenOCD, and ARM's Fast Models.

As described in e6fa16ab ("signal: sigprocmask() should do
retarget_shared_pending()") the modification of current->blocked is
incorrect as we need to check for shared signals we're about to block.
Also, use the new helper function introduced in commit 5e6292c0f2
("signal: add block_sigmask() for adding sigmask to current->blocked")
which centralises the code for updating current->blocked after
successfully delivering a signal and reduces the amount of duplicate code
across architectures. In the past some architectures got this code wrong,
so using this helper function should stop that from happening again.

Extract out the code patching code from kprobes so that it can be used
from the jump label code. Additionally, the separated code:
- Uses the IS_ENABLED() macros instead of the #ifdefs for THUMB2
support
- Unifies the two separate functions in kprobes, providing one function
that uses stop_machine() internally, and one that can be called from
stop_machine() directly
- Patches the text on all CPUs only on processors requiring software
broadcasting of cache operations

As commit 592201a9f1 (ARM: Thumb-2: Support Thumb-2 in undefined
instruction handler) says:
32-bit Thumb instructions are specified in the form:
((first_half << 16 ) | second_half)
which matches the layout used by the ARM ARM.
Convert the ftrace code to use the same format to avoid the usage of
different formats in kernel code.

Before replacing an instruction, the ftrace code determines what the old
instruction should be and verifies that that's what's really there in
memory before replacing it. This is useful if for example a bug in
mcountrecord causes it to record wrong locations.
However, in cases where we replace call sites in entry-common.S, these
checks are not needed. For these, we currently just memcpy() the memory
content and then "verify" it -- this is quite useless and can be
removed.

The kexec machine crash code can be called in interrupt context via a
sysrq trigger made using the magic key combination. If the irq chip
dealing with the serial interrupt is using the fasteoi flow handler,
then we will never EOI the interrupt because the interrupt handler will
be fatal. In the case of a GIC, this results in the crash kernel not
receiving interrupts on that CPU interface.
This patch adds code (based on the PowerPC implementation) to EOI any
pending interrupts on the crash CPU before masking and disabling all
interrupts. Secondary cores are not a problem since they are placed into
a cpu_relax() loop via an IPI.

we aren't going to support PCI/ISA IO cycles on this platform. Remove

Ensure that the software state for sched_clock() is updated at the
point of suspend so that we avoid losing ticks since the last update.
This prevents the platform dependent possibility that sched_clock()
may appear to go backwards across a suspend/resume cycle.

The current user mapping for the vectors page is inserted as a `horrible
hack vma' into each task via arch_setup_additional_pages. This causes
problems with the MM subsystem and vm_normal_page, as described here:

Following the suggestion from Hugh in the above thread, this patch uses
the gate_vma for the vectors user mapping, therefore consolidating
the horrible hack VMAs into one.

Rather than open-coding the jiffy-based wait, and polling for the
secondary CPU to come online, use a completion instead. This

The motivation for this patchset was that I was looking at a way for a
qemu-kvm process, to exclude the guest memory from its core dump, which
can be quite large. There are already a number of filter flags in
/proc/<pid>/coredump_filter, however, these allow one to specify 'types'
of kernel memory, not specific address ranges (which is needed in this
case).
Since there are no more vma flags available, the first patch eliminates
the need for the 'VM_ALWAYSDUMP' flag. The flag is used internally by
the kernel to mark vdso and vsyscall pages. However, it is simple
enough to check if a vma covers a vdso or vsyscall page without the need
for this flag.
The second patch then replaces the 'VM_ALWAYSDUMP' flag with a new
'VM_NODUMP' flag, which can be set by userspace using new madvise flags:
'MADV_DONTDUMP', and unset via 'MADV_DODUMP'. The core dump filters
continue to work the same as before unless 'MADV_DONTDUMP' is set on the
region.
The qemu code which implements this features is at:

In my testing the qemu core dump shrunk from 383MB -> 13MB with this
patch.
I also believe that the 'MADV_DONTDUMP' flag might be useful for
security sensitive apps, which might want to select which areas are
dumped.
This patch:
The VM_ALWAYSDUMP flag is currently used by the coredump code to
indicate that a vma is part of a vsyscall or vdso section. However, we
can determine if a vma is in one these sections by checking it against
the gate_vma and checking for a non-NULL return value from
arch_vma_name(). Thus, freeing a valuable vma bit.

On platforms such as OMAP3, certain variants may not have IVA, SGX
or some specific component. We currently have a check to aid fixing
wrong population of OPP entries for issues such as typos. This however
causes a conflict with valid requirement where the SoC variant does
not actually have the module present.
So, reduce the severity of the print to a debug statement and skip
registering that specific OPP, but continue down the list.

It appears that the error paths were overlooked when the
omap3_pm_init() routine had the prcm chain handler code
added. Fix this by adding a goto target and reordering
the error handling code. Also fix how the irq argument
for free_irq() is determined.

On OMAP4, recently a synchronisation bug is discovered by hardware
team, which leads to incorrect timer value read from 32K sync timer
IP when the IP is comming out of idle.
The issue is due to the synchronization methodology used in the SYNCTIMER IP.
The value of the counter register in 32kHz domain is synchronized to the OCP
domain register only at count up event, and if the OCP clock is switched off,
the OCP register gets out of synch until the first count up event after the
clock is switched back -at the next falling edge of the 32kHz clock.
Further investigation revealed that it applies to gptimer1 and watchdog timer2
as well which may run on 32KHz. This patch fixes the issue for all the
applicable modules.
The BUG has not made it yet to the OMAP errata list and it is applicable to
OMAP1/2/3/4/5. OMAP1/2/3 it is taken care indirectly by autodeps.
By enabling static depedency of wakeup clockdomain with MPU, as soon as MPU
is woken up from lowpower state(idle) or whenever MPU is active, PRCM forces
the OCP clock to be running and allow the counter value to be updated properly
in the OCP clock domain.
The bug is going to fixed in future OMAP versions.

Here is the first big update chunk of sound stuff for 3.4-rc1.
In the common sound infrastructure, there are a few changes for
dynamic PCM support (used in ASoC) and a few clean-ups. Majority of
changes are found, as usual, in HD-audio and ASoC.
Some highlights of HD-audio changes:
- All the long-standing static quirk codes for Realtek codec were
finally removed by fixing and extending the Realtek auto-parser.
- The mute-LED control is standardized over all HD-audio codec
drivers using the extended vmaster hook.
- The vmaster slave mixer elements are initialized to 0dB as default
so that the user won't be annoyed by the silent output after
updates, e.g. due to the additions of new elements.
- Other many fix-ups for the misc HD-audio devices.
In the ASoC side, this is a very active release, including a quite a
few framework enhancements. Some highlights:
- Support for widgets not associated with a CODEC, an important part
of the dynamic PCM framework.
- A library factoring out the common code shared by dmaengine based
DMA drivers contributed by Lars-Peter Clausen. This will save a lot
of code and make it much easier to deploy enhancements to
dmaengine.
- Support for binary controls, used for providing runtime
configuration of algorithm coefficients.
- A new DAPM widget type for regulator supplies allowing drivers for
devices that can power down unused supplies while active to do
without any per-driver code.
- DAPM widgets for DAIs, initially giving a speed boost for playback
startup and shutdown and also the basis for CODEC<->CODEC DAI link
support.
- Support for specifying the number of significant bits on audio
interfaces, useful for allowing applications to know how much effort
to put into generating data for a larger sample format.
- Conversion of the FSI driver used on some SH processors to
DMAEngine.
- Conversion of EP93xx drivers to DMAEngine.
- New CODEC drivers for Maxim MAX9768 and Wolfson Microelectronics
WM2200.
- Move audmux driver from arc/arm to sound/soc
- McBSP move from arch/ to sound/ and updates
Also, a few small updates and fixes for other drivers like au88x0,

Some highlights of HD-audio changes:
- All the long-standing static quirk codes for Realtek codec were
finally removed by fixing and extending the Realtek auto-parser.
- The mute-LED control is standardized over all HD-audio codec
drivers using the extended vmaster hook.
- The vmaster slave mixer elements are initialized to 0dB as default
so that the user won't be annoyed by the silent output after
updates, e.g. due to the additions of new elements.
- Other many fix-ups for the misc HD-audio devices.
In the ASoC side, this is a very active release, including a quite a
few framework enhancements. Some highlights:
- Support for widgets not associated with a CODEC, an important part
of the dynamic PCM framework.
- A library factoring out the common code shared by dmaengine based
DMA drivers contributed by Lars-Peter Clausen. This will save a
lot of code and make it much easier to deploy enhancements to
dmaengine.
- Support for binary controls, used for providing runtime
configuration of algorithm coefficients.
- A new DAPM widget type for regulator supplies allowing drivers for
devices that can power down unused supplies while active to do
without any per-driver code.
- DAPM widgets for DAIs, initially giving a speed boost for playback
startup and shutdown and also the basis for CODEC<->CODEC DAI link
support.
- Support for specifying the number of significant bits on audio
interfaces, useful for allowing applications to know how much
effort to put into generating data for a larger sample format.
- Conversion of the FSI driver used on some SH processors to
DMAEngine.
- Conversion of EP93xx drivers to DMAEngine.
- New CODEC drivers for Maxim MAX9768 and Wolfson Microelectronics
WM2200.
- Move audmux driver from arc/arm to sound/soc
- McBSP move from arch/ to sound/ and updates

With the introduction of dynamically allocated IRQ in the twl6030 driver,
the board files can no longer rely of static IRQ defines like before.
Retrieve the value dynamically allocated from the mmc -> twl6030 init
callback.
Note: The Panda board does not seems to use the card detect IRQ.

Commit 4a53f4e "USB: ehci-tegra: add probing through device tree" added
AUXDATA for Tegra's USB/EHCI controller. However, it pointed the platform
data at a location containing the address of the intended platform data,
rather than the platform data itself. This change fixes that.

This patch introduces DMA_SLAVE_CONFIG to at_hdmac Atmel DMA driver.
It is needed to fix a regression in the use of atmel-mci.c driver on Atmel
AT91 platforms brouth by e2b35f3:

We remove some parts of the private structure "at_dma_slave" and use the
information provided by "struct dma_slave_config": source/destination
peripheral registers and access width.
AT_DMA_SLAVE_WIDTH_* values used previously are not needed anymore as we
now use the standard ones. Although some conversion functions are needed to
match register expected values.
Some AT91 sub-architecture specific files are slightly touched by this patch
but it cannot be split because it can break compilation.

Add inline wrappers for device_prep_slave_sg() and device_prep_dma_cyclic()

sh_mipi uses some clocks, but the method of setup depends on CPU.
Current SuperH (like sh73a0) can control all of these clocks
by CPG (Clock Pulse Generator).
It means we can control it by clock framework only.
But on sh7372, it needs CPG settings AND sh_mipi PHYCTRL::PLLDS,
and only sh7372 has PHYCTRL::PLLDS.
But on current sh_mipi driver, PHYCTRL::PLLDS of sh7372 was
overwrote since the callback timing of clock setting was changed
by c2658b70f0
(fbdev: sh_mipi_dsi: fixup setup timing of sh_mipi_setup()).
To solve this issue, this patch adds extra .phyctrl.
This patch adds detail explanation for unclear mipi settings
and fixup wrong PHYCTRL::PLLDS value for ap4evb (0xb -> 0x6).

Make necessary changes to implement time keeping and irq enabling
in the core cpuidle code. This will allow the removal of these
functionalities from various platform cpuidle implementations whose
timekeeping and irq enabling follows the form in this common code.

Fix up fairly trivial conflicts in drivers/isdn/gigaset/interface.c and

various minor things.
There are some patches touching arch code, but they have all been acked

Pull perf events changes for v3.4 from Ingo Molnar:
- New "hardware based branch profiling" feature both on the kernel and
the tooling side, on CPUs that support it. (modern x86 Intel CPUs
with the 'LBR' hardware feature currently.)
This new feature is basically a sophisticated 'magnifying glass' for
branch execution - something that is pretty difficult to extract from
regular, function histogram centric profiles.
The simplest mode is activated via 'perf record -b', and the result
looks like this in perf report:

This output shows from/to branch columns and shows the highest
percentage (from,to) jump combinations - i.e. the most likely taken
branches in the system. "branches" can also include function calls
and any other synchronous and asynchronous transitions of the
instruction pointer that are not 'next instruction' - such as system
calls, traps, interrupts, etc.
This feature comes with (hopefully intuitive) flat ascii and TUI
support in perf report.
- Various 'perf annotate' visual improvements for us assembly junkies.
It will now recognize function calls in the TUI and by hitting enter
you can follow the call (recursively) and back, amongst other
improvements.
- Multiple threads/processes recording support in perf record, perf
stat, perf top - which is activated via a comma-list of PIDs:

- Support for per UID views, via the --uid paramter to perf top, perf
report, etc. For example 'perf top --uid mingo' will only show the

factoring out of the (hopefully much clearer) include/linux/static_key.h
generic facility:

The static_key_false() branch will be generated into the code with as
little impact to the likely code path as possible. the
static_key_slow_*() APIs flip the branch via live kernel code patching.
This facility can now be used more widely within the kernel to
micro-optimize hot branches whose likelihood matches the static-key
usage and fast/slow cost patterns.
- SW function tracer improvements: perf support and filtering support.
- Various hardenings of the perf.data ABI, to make older perf.data's
smoother on newer tool versions, to make new features integrate more
smoothly, to support cross-endian recording/analyzing workflows
better, etc.
- Restructuring of the kprobes code, the splitting out of 'optprobes',
and a corner case bugfix.
- Allow the tracing of kernel console output (printk).
- Improvements/fixes to user-space RDPMC support, allowing user-space
self-profiling code to extract PMU counts without performing any
system calls, while playing nice with the kernel side.
- 'perf bench' improvements
- ... and lots of internal restructurings, cleanups and fixes that made
these features possible. And, as usual this list is incomplete as

The one fix didn't make the cut for 3.3, so we're putting it
into v3.4. Tony tells me "There are more patches needed to make
multiple smsc91x instances work, but we need to hear from people
with such boards first. Then those can be tagged for stable.",
so we don't mark this patch stable yet.

Commit d1589f0912 (ARM: OMAP2+: Mark
omap_hsmmc_init and omap_mux related functions as __init) changed DSI
muxing functions to __init. This doesn't work, as the muxing functions
are used every time a DSI display is enabled or disabled.
This patch removes the __inits from DSI mux functions that were
accidentally marked as __init, and makes omap4_hdmi_mux_pads __init
like it should be.
