This full-speed USB device generates spurious remote wakeup event
as soon as USB_DEVICE_REMOTE_WAKEUP feature is set. As the result,
Linux can't enter system suspend and S0ix power saving modes once
this keyboard is used.
This patch tries to introduce USB_QUIRK_IGNORE_REMOTE_WAKEUP quirk.
With this quirk set, wakeup capability will be ignored during
device configure.
This patch could be back-ported to kernels as old as 2.6.39.

Enable device-qualifier quirk for Elan Touchscreen, which often fails to
handle requests for the device_descriptor.
Note that the device sometimes do respond properly with a Request Error
(three times as USB core retries), but usually fails to respond at all.
When this happens any further descriptor requests also fails, for
example:

This patch adds a usb quirk to support devices with interupt endpoints
and bInterval values expressed as microframes. The quirk causes the
parse endpoint function to modify the reported bInterval to a standards
conforming value.
There is currently code in the endpoint parser that checks for
bIntervals that are outside of the valid range (1-16 for USB 2+ high
speed and super speed interupt endpoints). In this case, the code assumes
the bInterval is being reported in 1ms frames. As well, the correction
is only applied if the original bInterval value is out of the 1-16 range.
With this quirk applied to the device, the bInterval will be
accurately adjusted from microframes to an exponent.

The usb device will autoresume from choose_wakeup() if it is
autosuspended with the wrong wakeup setting, but below errors occur
because usb3503 misc driver will switch to standby mode when suspended.
As add USB_QUIRK_RESET_RESUME, it can stop setting wrong wakeup from
autosuspend_check().

We've encountered a rare issue when enumerating two Logitech webcams
after a reboot that doesn't power cycle the USB ports. They are spewing
random data (possibly some leftover UVC buffers) on the second
(full-sized) Get Configuration request of the enumeration phase. Since
the data is random this can potentially cause all kinds of odd behavior,
and since it occasionally happens multiple times (after the kernel
issues another reset due to the garbled configuration descriptor), it is
not always recoverable. Set the USB_DELAY_INIT quirk that seems to work
around the issue.

The following patch is required to resolve remote wake issues with
certain devices.
Issue description:
If the remote wake is issued from the device in a specific timing
condition while the system is entering sleep state then it may cause
system to auto wake on subsequent sleep cycle.
Root cause:
Host controller rebroadcasts the Resume signal > 100 µseconds after
receiving the original resume event from the device. For proper
function, some devices may require the rebroadcast of resume event
within the USB spec of 100µS.
Workaroud:
1. Filter the AMD platforms with Yangtze chipset, then judge of all the usb
devices are mouse or not. And get out the port id which attached a mouse
with Pixart controller.
2. Then reset the port which attached issue device during system resume
from S3.
[Q] Why the special devices are only mice? Would high speed devices
such as 3G modem or USB Bluetooth adapter trigger this issue?
- Current this sensitivity is only confined to devices that use Pixart
controllers. This controller is designed for use with LS mouse
devices only. We have not observed any other devices failing. There
may be a small risk for other devices also but this patch (reset
device in resume phase) will cover the cases if required.
[Q] Shouldn’t the resume signal be sent within 100 us for every
device?
- The Host controller may not send the resume signal within 100us,
this our host controller specification change. This is why we
require the patch to prevent side effects on certain known devices.
[Q] Why would clicking mouse INTENSELY to wake the system up trigger
this issue?
- This behavior is specific to the devices that use Pixart controller.
It is timing dependent on when the resume event is triggered during
the sleep state.
[Q] Is it a host controller issue or mouse?
- It is the host controller behavior during resume that triggers the
device incorrect behavior on the next resume.
This patch sets USB_QUIRK_RESET_RESUME flag for these Pixart-based mice
when they attached to platforms with AMD Yangtze chipset.

Commit 9214d1d8 set the USB persist flag as a default for all devices.
This might be desirable for some distributions, but it certainly has its
trade-offs... most importantly, it can significantly increase system
resume time, because the kernel blocks on resuming (and sometimes
resetting) USB devices before it unfreezes userspace.
This patch introduces a new config option CONFIG_USB_DEFAULT_PERSIST,
which allows distributions to make this decision on their own without
the need to carry a custom patch or revert the kernel's setting in
userspace.

Most Logitech UVC webcams (both early models that don't advertise UVC
compatibility and newer UVC-advertised devices) require the RESET_RESUME
quirk. Instead of listing each and every model, match the devices based
on the UVC interface information.

When a whole class of devices (possibly from a specific vendor, or
across multiple vendors) require a quirk, explictly listing all devices
in the class make the quirks table unnecessarily large. Fix this by
allowing matching devices based on interface information.

The new runtime PM code has shown that many webcams suffer
from a race condition that may crash them upon resume.
Runtime PM is especially prone to show the problem because
it retains power to the cameras at all times. However
system suspension may also crash the devices and retain
power to the devices.
The only way to solve this problem without races is in
usbcore with the RESET_RESUME quirk.

My Galaxy Spica needs this quirk when in modem mode, otherwise
it causes endless USB bus resets and is unusable in this mode.
Unfortunately Samsung decided to reuse ID of its old CDMA phone SGH-I500
for the modem part.
That's why in addition to this patch the visor driver must be prevented
from binding to SPH-I500 ID, so ACM driver can do that.

This patch (as1448) adds a quirks entry for the Keytouch QWERTY Panel
firmware, used in the IEC 60945 keyboard. This device crashes during
enumeration when the computer asks for its configuration string
descriptor.

This patch (as1434) cleans up the uses of usb_mark_last_busy() in
usbcore. The function will be called when a device is resumed and
whenever a usage count is decremented. A call that was missing from
the hub driver is added: A hub is used whenever one of its ports gets
suspended (this prevents hubs from suspending immediately after their
last child).
In addition, the call to disable autosuspend support for new devices
by default is moved from usb_detect_quirks() (where it doesn't really
belong) into usb_new_device() along with all the other runtime-PM
initializations. Finally, an extra pm_runtime_get_noresume() is added
to prevent new devices from autosuspending while they are being
registered.

This patch (as1428) converts USB over to the new runtime-PM core
autosuspend framework. One slightly awkward aspect of the conversion
is that USB devices will now have two suspend-delay attributes: the
old power/autosuspend file and the new power/autosuspend_delay_ms
file. One expresses the delay time in seconds and the other in
milliseconds, but otherwise they do the same thing. The old attribute
can be deprecated and then removed eventually.

When an attempt is made to read the interface strings of the Artisman
Watchdog USB dongle (idVendor:idProduct 04b4:0526) an error is written
to the dmesg log (uhci_result_common: failed with status 440000) and the
dongle resets itself, resulting in a disconnect/reconnect loop.
Adding the dongle to the list of devices in quirks.c, with the same
quirk Alan Stern's previous patch for the Saitek Cyborg Gold 3D
joystick, stops the device from resetting and allows it to be used with
no problems.

Add a new quirk USB_QUIRK_HONOR_BNUMINTERFACES, when this quirk is
set and a device has more interface descriptors in a configuration
then it claims to have in config->bNumInterfaces, ignore all additional
interfaces.
This is needed for devices which try to hide unused interfaces by only
lowering config->bNumInterfaces, and which can't handle if you try to talk
to the "hidden" interfaces.

This patch (as1327) changes the way negative autosuspend delays
prevent device from autosuspending. The current code checks for
negative values explicitly in the autosuspend_check() routine. The
updated code keeps things from getting that far by using
usb_autoresume_device() to increment the usage counter when a negative
delay is set, and by using usb_autosuspend_device() to decrement the
usage counter when a non-negative delay is set.
This complicates the set_autosuspend() attribute method code slightly,
but it will reduce the overall power management overhead.

This patch (as1326) adds usb_enable_autosuspend() and
usb_disable_autosuspend() routines for use by drivers. If a driver
knows that its device can handle suspends and resumes correctly, it
can enable autosuspend all by itself. This is equivalent to the user
writing "auto" to the device's power/level attribute.
The implementation differs slightly from what it used to be. Now
autosuspend is disabled simply by doing usb_autoresume_device() (to
increment the usage counter) and enabled by doing
usb_autosuspend_device() (to decrement the usage counter).
The set_level() attribute method is updated to use the new routines,
and the USB Power-Management documentation is updated.
The patch adds a usb_enable_autosuspend() call to the hub driver's
probe routine, allowing the special-case code for hubs in quirks.c to
be removed.

A reset would make them revert to the old mode. Therefore a reset

Apparently the Configuration and Interface strings aren't used as
often as the Vendor, Product, and Serial strings. In at least one
device (a Saitek Cyborg Gold 3D joystick), attempts to read the
Configuration string cause the device to stop responding to Control
requests.
This patch (as1226) adds a quirks flag, telling the kernel not to
read a device's Configuration or Interface strings, together with a
new quirk for the offending joystick.

This patch (as1052) enables USB-PERSIST for all devices by default.
The user won't have to remember to enable it explicitly for devices
containing mounted filesystems.
Eventually userspace tools like hal may be able to set the persist
attribute automatically when a filesystem is mounted on a USB device.
When that time comes this patch can be reverted, if people think it
matters.
This approach has the advantage of giving the user the ability to turn
off USB-PERSIST for devices with mounted filesystems, rather than
making the kernel always assume it should be on.

This patch (as1047) removes the USB_PERSIST Kconfig option, enabling
it permanently. It also prevents the power/persist attribute from
being created for hub devices; there's no point in having it since
USB-PERSIST is always turned on for hubs.
