1455adbd45 drm/msm/mdp5: handle non-fullscreen base plane case
If the bottom-most layer is not fullscreen, we need to use the BASE
mixer stage for solid fill (ie. MDP5_CTL_BLEND_OP_FLAG_BORDER_OUT).  The
blend_setup() code pretty much handled this already, we just had to
figure this out in _atomic_check() and assign the stages appropriately.

Also fix the case where there are zero enabled planes, where we also
need to enable BORDER_OUT.

bae781b259 drm: Nuke modifier[1-3]
It has been suggested that having per-plane modifiers is making life
more difficult for userspace, so let's just retire modifier[1-3] and
use modifier[0] to apply to the entire framebuffer.

Obviosuly this means that if individual planes need different tiling
layouts and whatnot we will need a new modifier for each combination
of planes with different tiling layouts.

For a bit of extra backwards compatilbilty the kernel will allow
non-zero modifier[1+] but it require that they will match modifier[0].
This in case there's existing userspace out there that sets
modifier[1+] to something non-zero with planar formats.

Mostly a cocci job, with a bit of manual stuff mixed in.

0f5225b024 locking/mutex, drm: Introduce mutex_trylock_recursive()
By popular DRM demand, introduce mutex_trylock_recursive() to fix up the
two GEM users.

Without this it is very easy for these drivers to get stuck in
low-memory situations and trigger OOM. Work is in progress to remove the
need for this in at least i915.

16976085a1 drm/msm: Fix error handling crashes seen when VRAM allocation fails
If VRAM allocation fails, the error handling path crashes in
msm_drm_uninit(). The following changes are made to fix this:

msm_gem_shrinker_cleanup() is fixed to unregister the shrinker only
if it was init-ed in the first place.

Before calling kms->funcs->destroy(), we check if kms->funcs is also
non-NULL. This is needed for MDP5, since during msm_drm_int(), priv->kms
becomes non-NULL early, but msm_kms_init() is called on it only later
in mdp5_kms_init().

73b65b1970 drm/msm: Set CLK_IGNORE_UNUSED flag for PLL clocks
The DSI/HDMI PLLs in MSM require resources like interface clocks, power
domains to be enabled before we can access their registers.

The clock framework doesn't have a mechanism at the moment where we can
tie such resources to a clock, so we make sure that the KMS driver enables
these resources whenever a PLL is expected to be in use.

One place where we can't ensure the resource dependencies are met is when
the clock framework tries to disable unused clocks. The KMS driver doesn't
know when the clock framework calls the is_enabled clk_op, and hence can't
enable interface clocks/power domains beforehand.

We set the CLK_IGNORE_UNUSED flag for PLL clocks for now. This needs to be
revisited, since bootloaders can enable display, and we would want to
disable the PLL clocks if there isn't a display driver using them.

8d23ea4030 drm/msm/dsi: Queue HPD helper work in attach/detach callbacks
The msm/dsi host drivers calls drm_helper_hpd_irq_event in the
mipi_dsi_host attach/detatch callbacks.

mipi_dsi_attach()/mipi_dsi_detach() from a panel/bridge
driver could be called from a context where the drm_device's
mode_config.mutex is already held, resulting in a deadlock.
Queue it as work instead.

f54d186700 dma-buf: Rename struct fence to dma_fence
I plan to usurp the short name of struct fence for a core kernel struct,
and so I need to rename the specialised fence/timeline for DMA
operations to make room.

A consensus was reached in
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/dri-devel/2016-July/113083.html
that making clear this fence applies to DMA operations was a good thing.
Since then the patch has grown a bit as usage increases, so hopefully it
remains a good thing!

In fact, both functions are declared in
drivers/gpu/drm/msm/adreno/adreno_device.c, but should be declared
in a header file. So this patch moves both function declarations to
drivers/gpu/drm/msm/adreno/adreno_gpu.h.

0853695c3b drm: Add reference counting to drm_atomic_state
drm_atomic_state has a complicated single owner model that tracks the
single reference from allocation through to destruction on another
thread - or perhaps on a local error path. We can simplify this tracking
by using reference counting (at a cost of a few more atomics). This is
even more beneficial when the lifetime of the state becomes more
convoluted than being passed to a single worker thread for the commit.

d9c181e22a drm/msm: extend the submit ioctl to pass in flags
We'll want to be able to pass in flags, such as asking for explicit
fencing, and possibly other things down the road.  Fortunately we
don't need a full 32b for the pipe-id.  So use the upper 16 bits
for flags (which could be extended or reduced later if needed, so
start adding flags from the high bits).

Since anything with the upper bits set would not be a valid pipe-id,
an old userspace would not set any of the upper bits, and an old
kernel would reject it as an invalid pipe-id.

f755e227dc drm/msm: Remove call to reservation_object_test_signaled_rcu before wait
Since fence_wait_timeout_reservation_object_wait_timeout_rcu() with a
timeout of 0 becomes reservation_object_test_signaled_rcu(), we do not
need to handle such conversion in the caller. The only challenge are
those callers that wish to differentiate the error code between the
nonblocking busy check and potentially blocking wait.

5f6f5e08b1 drm/msm/hdmi: Clean up HDMI gpio DT bindings
Make the following changes in the HDMI gpio bindings:

- Use "-gpios" as the suffix for all the gpio names
- Move all the gpios to optional, since there are platforms that use none
  of them.
- The HPD gpio is a standard one, remove the "qcom,hdmi-tx-" prefix from
  it.
- Remove the HDMI DDC clk/data gpios. They are just leftovers of an old
  way to configure pinctrl properties.
- Add a missing lpm gpio used on some platforms.

Make the necessary changes in the driver to incorporate these changes.

There hasn't been any upstream DT that uses the HDMI bindings, so it's
okay to change and move around these properties.

13ce5b6e38 drm/msm/mdp4: Fix issue with LCDC/LVDS port parsing
The LVDS port is the first in the list of the output ports in MDP4.
The driver assumed that if the port and its corresponding endpoint
is defined, then there should be a panel node too. This isn't
necessary since boards may not really use a LVDS panel. Don't fail
if there isn't a panel node available.

While we're at it, use of_graph_get_endpoint_by_regs instead of
of_graph_get_next_endpoint to make it more explicit that the LVDS
output is at port 0.

f6ce410a59 drm/fence: allow fence waiting to be interrupted by userspace
If userspace is running an synchronously atomic commit and interrupts the
atomic operation during fence_wait() it will hang until the timer expires,
so here we change the wait to be interruptible so it stop immediately when
userspace wants to quit.

Also adds the necessary error checking for fence_wait().

2b58e98d42 drm/atomic-helper: Add NO_DISABLE_AFTER_MODESET flag support for plane commit
Drivers may set the NO_DISABLE_AFTER_MODESET flag in the 'flags' parameter
of the helper drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes() if the relevant display
controllers(e.g., IPUv3 for imx-drm) require to disable a CRTC's planes
when the CRTC is disabled. The helper would skip the ->atomic_disable
call for a plane if the CRTC of the old plane state needs a modesetting
operation. Of course, the drivers need to disable the planes in their CRTC
disable callbacks since no one else would do that.

00085f1efa dma-mapping: use unsigned long for dma_attrs
The dma-mapping core and the implementations do not change the DMA
attributes passed by pointer.  Thus the pointer can point to const data.
However the attributes do not have to be a bitfield.  Instead unsigned
long will do fine:

1. This is just simpler.  Both in terms of reading the code and setting
   attributes.  Instead of initializing local attributes on the stack
   and passing pointer to it to dma_set_attr(), just set the bits.

2. It brings safeness and checking for const correctness because the
   attributes are passed by value.

By default, if using $debugfs/.../rd to log cmdstream, only the
cmdstream buffers themselves are logged.  But in some cases we want
to capture other buffers in the submit (to see VBO's or shaders).

32280d66fd drm/msm/dsi: Don't get DSI index from DT
The DSI host and PHY driver currently expects the DT bindings to provide
custom properties "qcom,dsi-host-index" and "qcom,dsi-phy-index" so that
the driver can identify which DSI instance it is.

The binding isn't acceptable, but the driver still needs to figure out
what its instance id. This is now done by storing the mmio starting
addresses for each DSI instance in every SoC version in the driver. The
driver then identifies the index number by trying to match the stored
address with comparing the resource start address we get from DT.

We don't have compatible strings for DSI PHY on each SoC, but only the
DSI PHY type. We only support one SoC version for each PHY type, so we
get away doing the same thing above for the PHY driver. We can revisit
this when we support two SoCs with the same DSI PHY.

dc3ea265b8 drm/msm: Drop the gpu binding
The driver currently identifies the GPU components it needs by parsing
a phandle list from the 'gpus' DT property.

This isn't the right binding to go with. So, for now, just search all
device nodes and find the gpu node we need by parsing a list of
compatible strings.

Once we know how to link the kms and gpu drivers, we'll drop this method
and use the correct binding.

device, but the top level MDSS device, which is a parent to MDP5 and
interface (DSI, HDMI, eDP etc) devices.

In order to add components on MDP5 platforms, we first need to populate
the MDSS children, locate the MDP5 child, and then parse its ports to
get the display interfaces.

812070eb09 drm/msm: Add display components by parsing MDP ports
The kms driver currently identifies all the mdss components it needs by
parsing a phandle list from the 'connectors' DT property.

Instead of this, describe a list of ports that the MDP hardware provides
to the external world. These ports are linked to external encoder
interfaces such as DSI, HDMI. These are also the subcomponent devices
that we need add. This description of ports complies with the generic
graph bindings.

The LVDS port is a special case since it is a part of MDP4 itself, and
its output connects directly to the LVDS panel. In this case, we don't
try to add it as a component.

cd79272696 drm/msm: Call pm_runtime_enable/disable for newly created devices
With the new device hierarchy for MDP5, we need to enable runtime PM
for both the toplevel MDSS device and the MDP5 device itself. Enable
runtime PM for the new devices.

Since MDP4 and MDP5 now have different places where runtime PM is
enabled, remove the previous pm_runtime_enable/disable calls, and
squash them in the respective kms drivers.

The new device hierarchy (as expressed in the DT bindings) has the GDSC
tied only to the MDSS wrapper device. This GDSC needs to be enabled for
accessing any register in the MDSS sub-blocks. Once every driver is
runtime adapted, the GDSC will be enabled when any sub-block device
calls runtime_get because of the parent-child relationship with MDSS.

Until then, we call pm_runtime_get_sync() once for the MDSS device to
ensure the GDSC is never disabled. This will be removed once all the
drivers are runtime PM adapted.

The error handling paths become a bit tricky when we call these runtime
PM funcs. There doesn't seem to be any helper that checks if runtime PM
is enabled already. Add bool variables in mdp4_kms/mdp5_kms structs to
check if the driver had managed to call pm_runtime_enable before bailing
out.

7b59c7e449 drm/msm/mdp5: Use updated MDP5 register names
Since MDSS registers were stuffed within the the MDP5 register
space, we had an __offset_MDP() macro to identify the offset
between the start of MDSS and MDP5 address spaces. This offset
macro expected a MDP index argument, which didn't make much
sense since we don't have multiple MDPs.

The offset is no longer needed now that we have devices for the 2
different register address spaces. Also, remove the "REG_MDP5_MDP_"
prefix to "REG_MDP5_".

Update the generated headers in mdp5.xml.h

We generally update headers as a separate patch, but we need to
do these together to prevent breaking build.

to the new MDP5 platform_device. The new change here is that the irq is
now retrieved using irq_of_parse_and_map(), since MDP5 is a child interrupt
of the MDSS interrupt controller.

1dd0a0b186 drm/msm/mdp5: Create a separate MDP5 device
In order to have a tree-like device hierarchy between MDSS and its
sub-blocks (MDP5, DSI, HDMI, eDP etc), we need to create a separate
device/driver for MDP5. Currently, MDP5 and MDSS are squashed
together are are tied to the top level platform_device, which is
also the one used to create drm_device.

The mdp5_kms_init code is split into two parts. The part where device
resources are allocated are associated with the MDP5 driver's probe,
the rest is executed later when we initialize modeset.

With this change, unlike MDP4, the MDP5 platform_device isn't tied to
the top level drm_device anymore. The top level drm_device is now
associated with a platform device that corresponds to MDSS wrapper
hardware.

Create mdp5_init/destroy funcs that will be used by the MDP5 driver
probe/remove. Use the HW_VERSION register in the MDP5 register address
space. Both the MDSS and MDP VERSION registers give out identical
version info.

The older mdp5_kms_init code is left as is for now, this would be removed
later when we have all the pieces to support the new device hierarchy.

SoCs that contain MDP5 have a top level wrapper called MDSS that manages
clocks, power and irq for the sub-blocks within it.

Currently, the MDSS portions are stuffed into the MDP5 driver. This makes
it hard to represent the DT bindings in the correct way. We create a top
level MDSS helper that handles these parts. This is essentially moving out
some of the mdp5_kms irq code and MDSS register space and keeping it as a
separate entity. We haven't given any clocks to the top level MDSS yet,
but a AHB clock would be added in the future to access registers.

One thing to note is that the resources allocated by this helper are
tied to the top level platform_device (the one that allocates the
drm_device struct too). This device would be the parent to MDSS
sub-blocks like MDP5, DSI, eDP etc.

a2b3a5571f drm/msm: Get irq number within kms driver itself
The driver gets the irq number using platform_get_irq on the main kms
platform device. This works fine since both MDP4 and MDP5 currently
have a flat device hierarchy. The platform device tied with the
drm_device points to the MDP DT node in both cases.

This won't work when MDP5 supports a tree-like hierarchy. In this
case, the platform device tied to the top level drm_device is the
MDSS DT node, and the irq we need for KMS is the one generated by
MDP5, not MDSS.

Get the irq number from the MDP4/5 kms driver itself. Each driver
can later provide the irq number based on what device hierarchy it
uses.

While we're at it, call drm_irq_install only when we have a valid KMS
driver.

60282cea5b drm/msm/dsi: Use a standard DT binding for data lanes
A more standard DT binding describing data lanes already exists here:
Documentation/devicetree/bindings/media/video-interfaces.txt

Use this binding instead of "qcom,data-lane-map". One difference
in the standard binding w.r.t to the existing binding is that it
provides a logical to physical mapping instead of the other way
round. Tweak the code to translate the data the way we want it.

The MSM DSI DT bindings aren't used anywhere at the moment, so
it's okay to update this property.

Fix some issues with MDP4 clocks:

- mdp4_dtv_encoder tries to get "src_clk", which is a RCG(TV_SRC) in
  MSM8960 and APQ8064. This isn't something the driver should access or
  configure. Instead of this, configure the "mdp_clk" (MDP_TV_CLK), a
  branch clock in MMCC that has the TV_SRC as its parent. Setting
  rate/enabling the "mdp_clk" will eventually configure "src_clk", which
  is what we want.
- Rename "mdp_clk" to "tv_clk" because that's slightly less confusing.
- Rename "mdp_axi_clk" to "bus_clk" because that's what we do elsewhere
  too.

followed by drm_connector_register_all(). Now that
drm_connector_register() is safe against multiple invocations, we can

more rigorous init ordering.

2f196b7c4b drm/atomic: Add drm_atomic_crtc_state_for_each_plane_state
... and use it in msm&vc4. Again just want to encapsulate
drm_atomic_state internals a bit.

The const threading is a bit awkward in vc4 since C sucks, but I still
think it's worth to enforce this. Eventually I want to make all the
obj->state pointers const too, but that's a lot more work ...

2b66987533 drm/msm: Drop load/unload drm_driver ops
The load/unload drm_driver ops are deprecated. They should be removed as
they result in creation of devices visible to userspace even before
the drm_device is registered.

Drop these ops and use drm_dev_alloc/register and drm_dev_unregister/unref
to explicitly create and destroy the drm device in the msm platform
driver's bind and unbind ops. With this in use, the drm connectors are
only registered once the drm_device is registered.

It also fixes the issue of stray debugfs files after the msm module is
removed. With this, all the debugfs files are removed, and allows
successive module insertions/removals.

8208ed931e drm/msm: Centralize connector registration/unregistration
Move the drm_connector registration from the encoder(HDMI/DSI etc) drivers
to the msm platform driver. This will simplify the task of ensuring that
the connectors are registered only after the drm_device itself is
registered.

The connectors' destroy ops are made to use kzalloc instead of
devm_kzalloc to ensure that that the connectors can be successfully
unregistered when the msm driver module is removed. The memory for the
connectors is unallocated when drm_mode_config_cleanup() is called
during either during an error or during driver remove.

c899f93584 drm/msm/hdmi: Prevent gpio_free related kernel warnings
Calling the legacy gpio_free on an invalid GPIO (a GPIO numbered -1)
results in kernel warnings. This causes a lot of backtraces when
we try to unload the drm/msm module.

Call gpio_free only on valid GPIOs.

ed19075be1 drm/msm/mdp4: Don't manage DSI PLL regulators in MDP driver
The MDP4 driver tries to request and set voltages for regulators required
by the DSI PLLs.

Firstly, the MDP4 driver shouldn't manage the DSI regulators, this should
be handled in the DSI driver. Secondly, it shouldn't try to set a fixed
voltage for regulators. Voltage constraints should be specified on the
regulator via DT and managed by the regulator core.

Remove all the DSI PLL regulator related code from the MDP4 driver. It's
managed in the DSI driver for MSM8960/APQ8064 already.

1d15c1654f drm/msm/edp: Drop regulator_set_voltage call
The eDP driver tries to set a fixed voltage for one of its regulators(vdda)
before enabling it. This shouldn't be done by the driver, the voltage
constraints should be specified on the regulator via DT and managed by
the regulator core. A driver should call regulator_set_voltage only if
it needs to change the voltage during runtime. Drop the
regulator_set_voltage call. Mention in a comment the voltage that the
regulator expects.

f377d59729 drm/msm/dsi: Fix regulator API abuse
The voltage changing code in this driver is broken and should be
removed.  The driver sets a single, exact voltage on probe.  Unless
there is a very good reason for this (which should be documented in
comments) constraints like this need to be set via the machine
constraints, voltage setting in a driver is expected to be used in cases
where the voltage varies at runtime.

In addition client drivers should almost never be calling
regulator_can_set_voltage(), if the device needs to set a voltage it
needs to set the voltage and the regulator core will handle the case
where the regulator is fixed voltage.  If the driver simply skips
setting the voltage if it doesn't have permission then it should just
not bother in the first place.

2755734390 drm/msm: fix ->last_fence() after recover
It is no longer true that we discard all in-flight submits on recover
(these days we only discard the first one that hung).  After the first
re-submitted batch completes it would overwrite the fence with a correct
value, but there would be a window of time which showed all re-submitted
batches as already complete.

fcda50c8f4 drm/msm: rename hdmi symbols
Global symbols in the kernel should be prefixed by the name
of the subsystem and/or driver to avoid conflicts when all
code is built-in.

In this case, function names like 'hdmi_register' or 'hdmi_set_mode'
are way too generic for an MSM specific DRM driver, so I'm renaming
them all to msm_hdmi_* here.

I also rename a lot of the 'static' symbols along with the global
names for consistency, even though those are relatively harmless;
they might only be slightly confusing when they show up in
backtraces.

6c77d1abe6 drm/msm: add timestamp param
We need this for GL_TIMESTAMP queries.

Note: currently only supported on a4xx.. a3xx doesn't have this
always-on counter.  I think we could emulate it with the one CP
counter that is available, but for now it is of limited usefulness
on a3xx (since we can't seem to do time-elapsed queries in any sane
way with the existing firmware on a3xx, and if you are trying to do
profiling on a tiler you want time-elapsed).  We can add that later
if it becomes useful.

Existing userspace wouldn't get this far, since getparam ioctl would
have failed and it would have bailed out creating a screen/context.

But all the same, we shouldn't let evil or confused userspace cause a
null ptr deref.

26f7d1f4d9 drm/msm/dsi: Parse DSI lanes via DT
The DSI driver is currently unaware of how the DSI physical data lanes
are mapped to the logical lanes provided by the DSI controller.

Create a DT binding "qcom,data-lane-map" that provides this information
on a given platform.

The MSM DSI controller is restricted in terms of what all mappings
it can support. The lane polarity is fixed for all the lanes, the clock
lanes are fixed, and the data lanes can be swapped among each other only
for a few combinations. Apply these restrictions when we parse the DT
data.

06cfdc0ba5 drm/msm/dsi: Remove incorrect warning on host attach
With the implementation of of_graph parsing, it isn't any longer
necessary for msm_host->device node to be same as dsi->dev.of_node. This
only holds true when the connected device is also a child of the dsi_host.

In the case of external bridge chips belonging to a different control
bus, these are guaranteed to be different.

ea184891b6 drm/msm/hdmi: Manage HDMI PLL through PHY driver
Add a helper to initialize PLL in the PHY driver. HDMI PLLs are going to
have their own mmio base different from that of PHY.

For the clock code in hdmi_phy_8960.c, some changes were needed for it to
work with the updated register offsets. Create a copy of the updated clock
code in hdmi_pll_8960.c, instead of rewriting it in hdmi_phy_8960.c
itself. This removes the need to place CONFIG_COMMON_CLOCK checks all
around, makes the code more legible, and also removes some old checkpatch
warnings with the original code.

The older hdmi pll clock ops in hdmi_phy_8960.c will be removed later. The
driver will use these until the HDMI PHY/PLL register offsets aren't
considered as separate domains (i.e. their offsets start from 0).

15b4a45238 drm/msm/hdmi: Create a separate HDMI PHY driver
Create a PHY device that represents the TX PHY and PLL parts of the HDMI
block.

This makes management of PHY specific resources (regulators and clocks)
much easier, and makes the PHY and PLL usable independently. It also
simplifies the core HDMI driver, which currently assigns phy ops among
many other things.

The PHY driver implementation done here is very similar to the PHY driver
we already have for DSI.

Keep the old hdmi_phy_funcs ops for now. The driver will use these until
the HDMI PHY/PLL register offsets aren't considered as separate
domains (i.e. their offsets start from 0).

The driver doesn't use the common PHY framework for now. This is because
it's hard to map our ops with the ops provided by the framework. The
bindings used for this is the generic phy bindings. So, this can be
adapted to the PHY framework in the future, if possible.

c95ea16254 drm/msm/hdmi: Fix connector detect when there is no HPD gpio
Some platforms may not have a HPD gpio line to detect Hot Plug signal from
the connector. They need to rely only on reading REG_HDMI_HPD_INT_STATUS
for HPD.

Modify hdmi_connector_detect logic such that it checks for HPD only using
the status register if there is no HPD gpio.

dc50f782c9 drm/msm/hdmi: Clean up connector gpio usage
Make gpio allocation and usage iterative by parsing the gpios on a given
platform from a list. This gives us flexibility over what all gpios exist
for a platform, whether they are input or output, and what value they
should be set to.

In particular, this will make HDMI on 8x96 platforms easier to integrate
with the driver, as it doesn't have a HPD gpio input to them. Also, it
cleans things up a bit.

We still use the legacy gpio api here, as we might need to backport this
driver to downstream kernels.

We need this in userspace for interpreting some of the perf ctrs.

Note possibly not quite sufficient if we had some frequency mgmt
approach other than race-to-idle.  Not really sure what the best
thing to do if we did.  Although displaying results as a percentage
of max frequence seems sensible(ish) if we did.

01c8f1c44b mm, dax, gpu: convert vm_insert_mixed to pfn_t
Convert the raw unsigned long 'pfn' argument to pfn_t for the purpose of
evaluating the PFN_MAP and PFN_DEV flags.  When both are set it triggers
_PAGE_DEVMAP to be set in the resulting pte.

There are no functional changes to the gpu drivers as a result of this
conversion.

4ff9d4cbc1 drm/msm/dsi: Don't use iommu for command TX buffer for DSIv2
We currently use iommu allocated DMA buffers for sending DSI commands.
DSIv2 doesn't have a port connected to the MDP iommu. Therefore, it
can't use iommu allocated buffers to fetch DSI commands.

Use a regular contiguous DMA buffer if we are DSIv2.

4bfa97489a drm/msm/dsi: Set up link clocks for DSIv2
DSIv2 (DSI on older A family chips) has slightly different link clock
requirements.

First, we have an extra clock called src_clk (with a dedicated RCG).
This is required by the DSI controller to process the pixel data
coming from MDP. It needs to be set at the rate "pclk * bytes_per_pixel".

We also need to explicitly configure esc_clk. On DSI6G chips, we don't
need to set a rate to esc_clk because its RCG is always sourced from
crystal clock (19.2 Mhz in all cases), which is within the escape clock
frequency range in the mipi DSI spec. For chips with DSIv2, the crystal
clock rate may not be within the required range (27Mhz on APQ8064).
Therefore, we derive it from the DSI byte clock. We calculate an esc_clck
rate that is within the mipi spec and also divisible by the byte clock
rate.

When setting rate and enabling the link clocks, we make sure that byte_clk
is configured before esc_clk, and src_clk before pixel_clk. We create two
different link_enable funcs for DSI6G and DSIv2 since the sequences are
different.

We also obtain two extra source clocks (dsi_src_clk and esc_src_clk) and
set their parent to the clocks provided by DSI PLL.

6e0eb52eba drm/msm/dsi: Parse bus clocks from a list
DSI bus clocks seem to vary between different DSI host versions, and the
SOC to which they belong. Even the enable/disable sequence varies.

Provide a list of bus clock names in dsi_cfg. The driver will use this to
retrieve the clocks, and enable/disable them.

Add bus clock lists for DSI6G, and DSI for MSM8916(this is DSI6G too, but
there is no MMSS_CC specific clock since there is no MMSS clock controller
on 8916).

Initialize clocks only after we get the DSI host version. This will allow
us to get clocks using a pre-defined list based on the DSI major/minor
version of the host. This is required since clock requirements of
different major DSI revisions(v2 vs 6g) aren't the same.

Modify dsi_get_version to get the interface clock, and then put it after
it is used.

648d506372 drm/msm/dsi: Use a better way to figure out DSI version
The current version checking mechanism works fine for DSI6G blocks. It
doesn't work so well for older generation DSIv2 blocks.

The initial read of REG_DSI_6G_HW_VERSION(offset 0x0) would result in a
read of REG_DSI_CTRL for DSIv2. This register won't necessarily be 0 on
DSIv2. It can be non zero if DSI was previously initialized by the
bootloader.

Instead of reading offset 0x0, we now read offset 0x1f0. For DSIv2, this
register is DSI_VERSION, and is bound to be non-zero. On DSI6G, this
register(offset 0x1f0) is SCRATCH_REGISTER_0, which no one ever seems to
touch, and from all register dumps I'vc seen, holds 0 all the time.

Modify dsi_get_version to read REG_DSI_VERSION to determine whether we
are DSI6G or DSIv2.

c6538de8dd drm/msm/dsi: Add DSI PLL for 28nm 8960 PHY
Add DSI PLL common clock framework clocks for 8960 PHY.

The PLL here is different from the ones found in B family msm chips. As
before, the DSI provides two clocks to the outside world. dsixpll and
dsixpllbyte (x = 1, 2). dsixpll is a regular clock divider, but
dsixpllbyte is modelled as a custom clock divider.

dsixpllbyte is the starting point of the PLL configuration. It is the
one that sets up the VCO clock rate. We need the VCO clock rate in the
form: F * byteclk, where F is a multiplication factor that varies on
the byte clock the DSI driver is trying to set. We use the custom
clk_ops for dsixpllbyte to ensure that the parent (VCO) is set at this
rate.

An additional divider (POSTDIV1) generates the bitclk. Since bit clock
can be derived from byteclock, we calculate it internally, and don't
expose it as a clock.

e6c4c78c10 drm/msm/dsi: Don't get byte/pixel source clocks from DT
We retrieve the byte and pixel source clocks (RCG clocks) in the dsi
driver via DT. These are needed so that we can re-parent these source
clocks if we want to drive it using a different DSI PLL.

We shouldn't get these via DT because they aren't clocks that directly
serve as inputs to the dsi host.

Fortunately, there is a static parent-child link between the
byte_clk_src/pixel_clk_src and byte_clk/pixel_clk clocks. So, we can
retrieve the source clocks via clk_get_parent.

Do this instead of retrieving via DT.

The mdp_kms round_pixclk op creates problems when we have more
interfaces in use. It calls the DTV encoder's helper by default.

Check on encoder type and call the corresponding encoder's
func meant for rounding pixel clock. DSI and LVDS don't require
rounding, so just return rate in their case.

a6bf7f6382 drm/msm/mdp4: Initialize LCDC encoder even if panel driver isn't available
Currently, the driver defers if it doesn't find a drm_panel. This forces
us to have a drm_panel, if not, the driver isn't usable.

Make the lcdc encoder initialization independent of the availability of
the drm panel. We only check if there is a panel node specified in DT. If
it isn't, then we don't initialize the encoder at all. The panel node is
passed to the lcdc encoder and lvds connector drivers.

The connector driver takes the responsibility to retrieve the drm_panel
from the panel node, and update the status on whether the panel is
connected or not. This makes the panel usable even if the drm_panel
driver is inserted as a module later on.

e2dd9f9ffa drm/msm/mdp5: high precision vblank timestamp support
MDP5 has line count and frame count registers for each interface. Enable
these counters and use them to implement the get_vblank_timestamp drm
driver op.

The line counter starts with the value 1 at the beginning of the VSYNC
pulse and ends with value VTOTAL at the end of VFP. This value is used
to determine whether we're in blanking period or not, and an adjusted
value of this counter is used to get vpos as expected by
get_scanout_position. Since there is no way to calculate hpos, we always
set it to 0.

b0b3b79511 drm: Pass 'name' to drm_universal_plane_init()
Done with coccinelle for the most part. It choked on
msm/mdp/mdp5/mdp5_plane.c like so:

No idea how to deal with that, so I just fixed that up
by hand.

Also it thinks '...' is part of the semantic patch, so I put an
'int DOTDOTDOT' placeholder in its place and got rid of it with
sed afterwards.

I didn't convert drm_plane_init() since passing the varargs through
would mean either cpp macros or va_list, and I figured we don't
care about these legacy functions enough to warrant the extra pain.

a9ee34b70e drm/msm: Remove local fbdev emulation Kconfig option
DRM_MSM_FBDEV config is used to enable/disable fbdev emulation for the
msm kms driver.

Replace this with the top level DRM_FBDEV_EMULATION config option where

8e2930c6cf drm/msm/mdp: Add Software Pixel Extension support
In order to produce an image, the scalar needs to be fed extra
pixels. These top/bottom/left/right values depend on a various of
factors, including resolution, scaling type, phase step and
initial phase.

Pixel Extension are programmed by hardware in most targets - and
can be overwritten by software. For some targets (e.g.: msm8996),
software *must* program those registers.

In order to ease this computation, let's always use bilinear
filters, which are easier to program from kernel. Eventually,
all of these values will come down from user space for better
quality.

d40325b437 drm/msm/mdp5: Avoid printing error messages for optional clocks
The current behavior is to try to get optional clocks and print a
dev_err message in case of failure. This looks rather confusing
and may increase with the amount of optional clocks.

We may need a cleaner way to handle per-device clocks but in the
meantime, let's reduce the amount of dev_err messages during the
probe.

Just one special case (since i915 lost its ums code, yay):
- radeon: Has slots for the old ums ioctls which don't have
  DRM_UNLOCKED, but all filled with drm_invalid_op. So ok to drop it
  everywhere.

Every other kms driver just has DRM_UNLOCKED for all their ioctls, as
they should.

v2: admgpu happened, include that one too. And i915 lost its UMS
support which means we can change all the i915 ioctls too.

b44f84081b drm: Stop using drm_vblank_count() as the hw frame counter
drm_vblank_count() returns the software counter. We should not pretend
it's the hw counter since we use the hw counter to figuere out what the
software counter value should be. So instead provide a new function
drm_vblank_no_hw_counter() for drivers that don't have a real hw
counter. The new function simply returns 0, which is about the only
thing it can do.

ca0141de74 gpu/drm: Kill off set_irq_flags usage
set_irq_flags is ARM specific with custom flags which have genirq
equivalents. Convert drivers to use the genirq interfaces directly, so we
can kill off set_irq_flags. The translation of flags is as follows:

IRQF_VALID -> !IRQ_NOREQUEST
IRQF_PROBE -> !IRQ_NOPROBE
IRQF_NOAUTOEN -> IRQ_NOAUTOEN

For IRQs managed by an irqdomain, the irqdomain core code handles clearing
and setting IRQ_NOREQUEST already, so there is no need to do this in
.map() functions and we can simply remove the set_irq_flags calls. Some
users also modify IRQ_NOPROBE and this has been maintained although it
is not clear that is really needed. There appears to be a great deal of
blind copy and paste of this code.

aef9dbb8f7 drm/atomic-helper: Add option to update planes only on active crtc
With drivers supporting runtime pm it's generally not a good idea to
touch the hardware when it's off. Add an option to the commit_planes
helper to support this case.

Note that the helpers already add all planes on a crtc when a modeset
happens, hence plane updates will not be lost if drivers set this to
true.

v2: Check for NULL state->crtc before chasing the pointer. Also check
both old and new crtc if there's a switch. Finally just outright
disallow switching crtcs for a plane if the plane is in active use, on
most hardware that doesn't make sense.

v3: Since commit_planes(active_only = true) is for enabling things
only after all the crtc are on we should only look at the new crtc to
decide whether to call the plane hooks - if the current CRTC isn't on
then skip. If the old crtc (when moving a plane) went down then the
plane should have been disabled as part of the pipe shutdown work
already. For which there's currently no helper really unfortunately.
Also move the check for wether a plane gets a new CRTC assigned while
still in active use out of this patch.

8d2faea672 This is the bulk of GPIO changes for the v4.3 kernel cycle:
Core changes:
 
 - Root out the wrapper devm_gpiod_get() and gpiod_get() etc
   versions of the descriptor calls that did not use the flags
   argument on the end. This was around for too long and eventually
   Uwe Kleine-König took the time to clean it out and the last
   users are removed along with the macros in this tag. In several
   cases the use of flags simplifies the code. For this reason we
   have (ACKed) patches hitting in DRM, IIO, media, NFC, USB+PHY
   up until we hammer in the nail with removing the macros.
 
 - Add a fat document describing how much ready-made GPIO stuff
   we have i the kernel to discourage people from reinventing
   a square wheel in userspace, as so often happens.
 
 - Create a separate lockdep class for each instance of a GPIO
   IRQ chip instead of using one class for all chips, as the current
   code will not work with systems with several GPIO chips doing
   lockdep debugging.
 
 - Protect against driver unloading also when a GPIO line is only
   used as IRQ for the GPIOLIB_IRQCHIP helpers.
 
 - If the GPIO chip has no designated owner, assign the parent
   device driver owner as owner.

There are platforms where the DSI output can be connected to another
encoder bridge chip (DSI to HDMI, DSI to LVDS etc).

Add support for external bridge support to the dsi driver. We assume that
the external bridge chip would be of the type drm_bridge. The dsi driver's
internal drm_bridge (msm_dsi->bridge) is linked to the external bridge's
drm_bridge struct.

In the case we're connected to an external bridge, we don't need to create
and manage a connector within our driver, it's the bridge driver's
responsibility to create one.

- Force the bridge to connect to a video mode encoder for now (the dsi
  mode flags may have not been populated by modeset_init)

Create a helper msm_dsi_device_connected() which checks whether we have a
device connected to the dsi host or not. This check gets messy when we
have support external bridges too. Having an inline function makes it
more legible.

For now, the check only consists of msm_dsi->panel being non-NULL. Later,
this will check if we have an external bridge or not.

This helper isn't used in dsi_connector related code as that's specific
to only when a drm_panel is connected.

f7009d266d drm/msm: dsi host: Use device graph parsing to parse connected panel
The dsi host looks for the connected panel node by parsing for a child
named 'panel'. This hierarchy isn't very flexible. The connected
panel is forced to be a child to the dsi host, and hence, a mipi dsi
device. This isn't suitable for dsi devices that don't use mipi dsi
as their control bus.

Follow the of_graph approach of creating ports and endpoints to
represent the connections between the dsi host and the panel connected
to it. In our case, the dsi host will only have one output port, linked
to the panel's input port.

Update DT binding documentation with device graph usage info.
