Linux 3.13-rc3
I need a backmerge for two reasons:
- For merging the ppgtt patches from Ben I need to pull in the bdw
support.
- We now have duplicated calls to intel_uncore_forcewake_reset in the
setup code to due 2 different patches merged into -next and 3.13.
The conflict is silen so I need the merge to be able to apply
Deepak's fixup patch.
Conflicts:

The spec says the default timeout should be 2ms, but on my machine
this doesn't seem to be enough. Sometimes it works, sometimes I get
these messages when booting:
- SWSCI request timed out
- SWSCI request already in progress
And my guess is that the "already in progress" message is because the
first one is still happening.
I did some experiments on my machine (that has CONFIG_HZ=1000) and the
wait_for function usually takes 4-6 jiffies to finish, but I've seen
up to 9. So increase the timeout to 50ms. We only expect to wait for
the actual amount of time the operation takes, so even a huge timeout
shouldn't delay us more than what the hardware actually requires.

ACPI has _BCM and _BQC methods to set and query the backlight
brightness, respectively. The ACPI opregion has variables BCLP and CBLV
to hold the requested and current backlight brightness, respectively.
The BCLP variable has range 0..255 while the others have range
0..100. This means the _BCM method has to scale the brightness for BCLP,
and the gfx driver has to scale the requested value back for CBLV. If
the _BQC method uses the CBLV variable (apparently some implementations
do, some don't) for current backlight level reporting, there's room for
rounding errors.
Use DIV_ROUND_UP for scaling back to CBLV to get back to the same values
that were passed to _BCM, presuming the _BCM simply uses bclp = (in *
255) / 100 for scaling to BCLP.

Stop calling intel_opregion_enable_asle() and consequently
intel_enable_asle() on opregion init. It should not be necessary for
these reasons:
1) On PCH split platforms, it only enables GSE interrupt, which is
enabled in irq postinstall anyway. Moreover, the irq enable uses the
wrong bit on IVB+.
2) On gen 2, it would enable a reserved pipestat bit. If there were gen
2 systems with opregion asle support, that is. And the gen 2 irq
handler won't handle it anyway.
3) On gen 3-4, the irq postinstall will call
intel_opregion_enable_asle() to enable the pipestat.
In short, move the asle irq/pipestat enable responsibility to irq
postinstall, which already happens to be in place.
This should not cause any functional changes, but only do the one line
change here for easier bisectability, just in case, and leave all the

Merge tag 'v3.7-rc2' into drm-intel-next-queued
Linux 3.7-rc2
Backmerge to solve two ugly conflicts:
- uapi. We've already added new ioctl definitions for -next. Do I need to say more?
- wc support gtt ptes. We've had to revert this for snb+ for 3.7 and
also fix a few other things in the code. Now we know how to make it
work on snb+, but to avoid losing the other fixes do the backmerge
first before re-enabling wc gtt ptes on snb+.
And a few other minor things, among them git getting confused in
intel_dp.c and seemingly causing a conflict out of nothing ...
Conflicts:
drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915_reg.h
drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_display.c
drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_dp.c
drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_modes.c
include/drm/i915_drm.h

Pull drm merge (part 1) from Dave Airlie:
"So first of all my tree and uapi stuff has a conflict mess, its my
fault as the nouveau stuff didn't hit -next as were trying to rebase
regressions out of it before we merged.
Highlights:
- SH mobile modesetting driver and associated helpers
- some DRM core documentation
- i915 modesetting rework, haswell hdmi, haswell and vlv fixes, write
combined pte writing, ilk rc6 support,
- nouveau: major driver rework into a hw core driver, makes features
like SLI a lot saner to implement,
- psb: add eDP/DP support for Cedarview
- radeon: 2 layer page tables, async VM pte updates, better PLL
selection for > 2 screens, better ACPI interactions
The rest is general grab bag of fixes.
So why part 1? well I have the exynos pull req which came in a bit
late but was waiting for me to do something they shouldn't have and it
looks fairly safe, and David Howells has some more header cleanups
he'd like me to pull, that seem like a good idea, but I'd like to get
this merge out of the way so -next dosen't get blocked."
Tons of conflicts mostly due to silly include line changes, but mostly
mindless. A few other small semantic conflicts too, noted from Dave's
pre-merged branch.

Make it easier to track backlight set requests coming through ASLE instead
of the driver's own backlight sysfs interface. We've had enough of
backlight issues to warrant some extra debug logs in the area.

This is rather a hack to fix brightness hotkeys on a Clevo laptop. CADL is not
used anywhere in the driver code at the moment, but it could be used in BIOS as
is the case with the Clevo laptop.
The Clevo B7130 requires the CADL field to contain at least the ID of
the LCD device. If this field is empty, the ACPI methods that are called
on pressing brightness / display switching hotkeys will not trigger a
notification. As a result, it appears as no hotkey has been pressed.

Almost all of the errors related __iomem problems.
Most of the changes here are trivial, however there is plenty of chance
for yank/paste errors.

Various issues involved with the space character were generating
warnings in the checkpatch.pl file. This patch removes most of those
warnings.

opregion-based platforms will send ACPI video event 0x80 for a range of
notification types for legacy compatibility. This is interpreted as a
display switch event, which may not be appropriate in the circumstances.
When we receive such an event we should make sure that the platform is
genuinely requesting a display switch before passing that event through
to userspace.

The opregion is a shared memory region between ACPI and the graphics
driver. As the ACPI mapping has been changed to cachable in commit
6d5bbf00d2, mapping the intel opregion
non-cachable now fails. As no bus-master hardware is involved in the
opregion, cachable map should do no harm.
Tested on a Fujitsu Lifebook P8010.

Admittedly, trusting ACPI or the BIOS at all to be correct is littered
with numerous examples where it is wrong. Maybe, just maybe, we will
have better luck using the ACPI OpRegion lid status...

The bulk of the change is to convert the growing list of rings into an
array so that the relationship between the rings and the semaphore sync
registers can be easily computed.

There were two instances of code to control the panel backlight and
neither handled the complete set of device variations.
Fixes:
Bug 29716 - [GM965] Regression: Backlight resets to minimum when changing resolution
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29716
And a bug on one of my PineView boxes which overflowed the backlight
value.
Incorporates part of a similar patch by Matthew Garrett that exposes a
native Intel backlight controller.

It is recommended that we use the Video BIOS tables that were copied
into the OpRegion during POST when initialising the driver. This saves
us from having to furtle around inside the ROM ourselves and possibly
allows the vBIOS to adjust the tables prior to initialisation.
On some systems, such as the Samsung N210, there is no accessible VBIOS
and the only means of finding the VBT is through the OpRegion.
v2: Rearrange the code so that ASLE is enabled along with ACPI
v3: Enable OpRegion parsing even without ACPI
