454f83d5e6 musb: sunxi: Force session end on babble errors in host-mode
The sunxi musb has a bug where sometimes it will generate a babble
error on device disconnect instead of a disconnect irq. When this
happens the musb-controller switches from host mode to device mode
(it clears MUSB_DEVCTL_SESSION and sets MUSB_DEVCTL_BDEVICE) and
gets stuck in this state.

Clearing this requires reporting Vbus low for 200 or more ms, but
on some devices Vbus is simply always high (host-only mode, no Vbus
control).

This commit adds a sunxi_musb_recover() callback which makes
sunxi_musb_work call phy_set_mode with the current mode, which
will force end the current session.

This fixes the musb controller getting stuck in this state on systems
without Vbus control; and also fixes the need to unplug the usb-b ->
usb-a cable to get out of this state on systems with Vbus control.

ae4d814bf1 usb: patches for v4.10 merge window
One big merge this time with a total of 166 non-merge commits.

Most of the work, by far, is on dwc2 this time (68.2%) with dwc3 a far

536d599d4a usb: musb: Add missing pm_runtime_disable and drop 2430 PM timeout
We are missing pm_runtime_disable() in 2430 glue layer. Further,
we only need to enable PM runtime and disable it on exit. With
musb_core.c doing PM, the glue layer as a parent will always be
active when musb_core.c is active.

This fixes host enumeration issues with some devices as reported
by Ladislav Michl <ladis@linux-mips.org>.

And holding an RPM reference while deregistering the child would
lead to a crash in omap2430_runtime_suspend() which dereferences
the now freed child's driver data on put as pointed out by
Johan Hovold <johan@kernel.org>:

2bff3916fd usb: musb: Fix PM for hub disconnect
With a USB hub disconnected, devctl can be 0x19 for about a second
on am335x and will stay forever on at least omap3. And we get no
further interrupts when devctl session bit clears. This keeps
PM runtime active.

Let's fix the issue by polling devctl until the session bit clears
or times out. We can do this by making musb->irq_work into
delayed_work.

And with the polling implemented, we can now also have the quirk
for invalid VBUS it to avoid disconnecting too early while VBUS
is ramping up.

ea2f35c01d usb: musb: Fix sleeping function called from invalid context for hdrc glue
Commit 65b3f50ed6 ("usb: musb: Add PM runtime support for MUSB DSPS
glue layer") wrongly added a call for pm_runtime_get_sync to otg_timer
that runs in softirq context. That causes a "BUG: sleeping function called
from invalid context" every time when polling the cable status:

[<c015ebb4>] (__might_sleep) from [<c0413d60>] (__pm_runtime_resume+0x9c/0xa0)

[<c0191acc>] (run_timer_softirq) from [<c010168c>] (__do_softirq+0x12c/0x594)

I did not notice that as I did not have CONFIG_DEBUG_ATOMIC_SLEEP enabled.
And looks like also musb_gadget_queue() suffers from the same problem.

Let's fix the issue by using a list of delayed work then call it on
resume. Note that we want to do this only when musb core and it's
parent devices are awake, and we need to make sure the DSPS glue
timer is stopped as noted by Johan Hovold <johan@kernel.org>.
Note that we already are re-enabling the timer with mod_timer() in
dsps_musb_enable().

Later on we may be able to remove other delayed work in the musb driver
and just do it from pending_resume_work. But this should be done only
for delayed work that does not have other timing requirements beyond
just being run on resume.

d8e5f0eca1 usb: musb: Fix hardirq-safe hardirq-unsafe lock order error
If we configure musb with 2430 glue as a peripheral, and then rmmod
omap2430 module, we'll get the following error:

[ INFO: HARDIRQ-safe -> HARDIRQ-unsafe lock order detected ]
...
rmmod/413 [HC0[0]:SC0[0]:HE0:SE1] is trying to acquire:
 (&phy->mutex){+.+.+.}, at: [<c04b9fd0>] phy_power_off+0x1c/0xb8

 (&(&musb->lock)->rlock){-.-...}, at: [<bf3a482c>]
 musb_gadget_stop+0x24/0xec [musb_hdrc]
which would create a new lock dependency:
 (&(&musb->lock)->rlock){-.-...} -> (&phy->mutex){+.+.+.}
...

This is because some glue layers expect musb_platform_enable/disable
to be called with spinlock held, and 2430 glue layer has USB PHY on
the I2C bus using a mutex.

We could fix the glue layers to take the spinlock, but we still have
a problem of musb_plaform_enable/disable being called in an unbalanced
manner. So that would still lead into USB PHY enable/disable related
problems for omap2430 glue layer.

While it makes sense to only enable USB PHY when needed from PM point
of view, in this case we just can't do it yet without breaking things.
So let's just revert phy_enable/disable related changes instead and
reconsider this after we have fixed musb_platform_enable/disable to
be balanced.

2b9a8c4083 usb: musb: Fix session based PM for first invalid VBUS
With the session bit based PM runtime working on musb, we've
implemented few quirks to attempt to detect the current state of
the hardware. One of the quirks is for invalid VBUS as peripheral,
but it is not working in all cases.

If we start musb on dm3730 as a peripheral with no cable connected,
we will get the devctl 91 state once and will never idle as there
are not further interrupts from musb. So we need to ignore the first
devctl 91 state as there will be more interrupts if we're connected.

The invalid VBUS state also can happen always when connected to
certain USB hubs. Looks like musb on dm3730 can claim invalid VBUS
with some hubs while 3717-evm and BeagleBone don't. This causes
session as peripheral to fail for dm3730 with some hubs.

This too is fixed by ignoring only the first invalid VBUS. When
connected, we can just look at the session bit as that will clear
automatically when the session ends.

65b3f50ed6 usb: musb: Add PM runtime support for MUSB DSPS glue layer
We can now just use PM runtime autoidle support as musb core
keeps things enabled when the devctl session bit is set. And
there's no need for dsps_musb_try_idle() so let's just remove
it.

Note that as cppi41 dma is clocked by musb, this only makes
PM work for dsps glue layer if CONFIG_MUSB_PIO_ONLY=y and
cppi41.ko is unloaded. This will get fixed when cppi41.c has
PM runtime implemented.

dbac5d07d1 usb: musb: host: don't start next rx urb if current one failed
urb->status is set when endpoint csr RXSTALL, H_ERROR, DATAERROR or
INCOMPRX bit is set. Those bits mean a broken pipe, so don't start next
urb when any of these bits is set by checking urb->status.

To minimize the risk of regression, only do so for RX, until we have a
test case to understand the behavior of TX.

The patch fixes system freeze issue caused by repeatedly invoking RX ISR
while removing a usb uart device connected to a hub, in which case the
hub has no chance to report the disconnect event due to the kernel is
busy in processing the RX interrupt flooding.

Fix checkpatch complaint (qh != NULL) as while.

This reverts commit 2035772010.

Commit 20357720 claims throughput improvement for MSC/UVC, but I
don't see much improvement. Following are the MSC measurement using
dd on AM335x GP EVM.

with BCD_BH: read: 14.9MB/s, write: 20.9MB/s
without BCD_BH: read: 15.2MB/s, write: 21.2MB/s

However with this commit the following regressions have been observed.

1. ASIX usb-ethernet dongle is completely broken on UDP RX.

2. Unpluging a 3G modem, which uses option driver, behind a hub causes

ead22caf85 usb: musb: core: added missing const qualifier to musb_hdrc_platform_data::config
The musb_hdrc_platform_data::config was defined as a non-const pointer.
However some drivers (e.g. the ux500) set up this pointer to point to a

62a6abdd42 usb: musb/ux500: remove duplicate check for dma_is_compatible
When dma_addr_t is 64-bit, we get a warning about an invalid cast
in the call to ux500_dma_is_compatible() from ux500_dma_channel_program():

drivers/usb/musb/ux500_dma.c: In function 'ux500_dma_channel_program':
drivers/usb/musb/ux500_dma.c:210:51: error: cast to pointer from integer of different size [-Werror=int-to-pointer-cast]
  if (!ux500_dma_is_compatible(channel, packet_sz, (void *)dma_addr, len))

The problem is that ux500_dma_is_compatible() is called from the
main musb driver on the virtual address, but here we pass in a
DMA address, so the types are fundamentally different but it works
because the function only checks the alignment of the buffer and
that is the same.

We could work around this by adding another cast, but I have checked
that the buffer we get passed here is already checked before it
gets mapped, so the second check seems completely unnecessary
and removing it must be the cleanest solution.

The musb driver prints DMA addresses in a few places, using the

gets passed by reference, which works for all combinations.

We currently can't unload omap2430 MUSB platform glue driver module and
this cause issues for fixing the MUSB code further. The reason we can't
remove omap2430 is because it uses the PHY functions and also exports the

Let's fix the issue by exporting a more generic musb_mailbox function

And now we can now also get rid of the include/linux/musb-omap.h.

4d05591094 usb: musb: core: Fix pm runtime for deferred probe
If musb_init_controller fails at musb_platform_init, we have already
called pm_runtime_irq_safe for musb and that causes the pm runtime count
to be enabled for parent before the parent has completed initialization.
This causes pm to stop working as on unload nothing gets idled.

This issue can be reproduced at least with:

# modprobe omap2430
HS USB OTG: no transceiver configured
musb-hdrc musb-hdrc.0.auto: musb_init_controller failed with status -517
# modprobe phy-twl4030-usb
# rmmod omap2430

And after the steps above omap2430 will block deeper idle states on
omap3.

To fix this, let's not enable pm runtime until we need to and the
parent has been initialized. Note that this does not fix the issue of
PM being broken for musb during runtime.

68fe05e2a4 usb: musb: fix tx fifo flush handling
Here are a few changes in musb_h_tx_flush_fifo().

- It has been observed that sometimes (if not always) musb is unable
to flush tx fifo during urb dequeue when disconnect a device. But
it seems to be harmless, since the tx fifo flush is done again in
  musb_ep_program() when re-use the hw_ep.

But the WARN() floods the console in the case when multiple tx urbs
are queued, so change it to dev_WARN_ONCE().

- applications could queue up many tx urbs, then the 1ms delay could
causes minutes of delay in device disconnect. So remove it to get
better user experience. The 1ms delay does not help the flushing
  anyway.

- cleanup the debug code - related to lastcsr.

----
Note: The tx fifo flush issue has been observed during device disconnect
on AM335x.

To reproduce the issue, ensure tx urb(s) are queued when unplug the usb
device which is connected to AM335x usb host port.

I found using a usb-ethernet device and running iperf (client on AM335x)
has very high chance to trigger the problem.

8f2279d5d9 usb: musb: omap2430: Fix regression caused by driver core change
Commit ddef08dd00 ("Driver core: wakeup the parent device before trying
probe") started automatically ensuring the parent device is enabled when
the child gets probed.

This however caused a regression for MUSB omap2430 interface as the
runtime PM for the parent device needs the child initialized to access
the MUSB hardware registers.

Let's delay the enabling of PM runtime for the parent until the child
has been properly initialized as suggested in an earlier patch by
Grygorii Strashko <grygorii.strashko@ti.com>.

In addition to delaying pm_runtime_enable, we now also need to make sure
the parent is enabled during omap2430_musb_init. We also want to propagate
an error from omap2430_runtime_resume if struct musb is not initialized.

Note that we use pm_runtime_put_noidle here for both the child and parent
to prevent an extra runtime_suspend/resume cycle.

Now that it is possible to build in multiple dma engines, we can no longer

This patch adds dummy dma hooks to make the musb glue work without

309be23936 usb: musb: use new USB_RESUME_TIMEOUT
Make sure we're using the new macro, so our
resume signaling will always pass certification.

d30323f810 usb: musb: dsps: fix build on i386 when COMPILE_TEST is set
Commit 3e457371f4 ("usb: musb: Fix fifo reads for dm816x with musb_dsps")
fixed a USB error on dm816x, but introduced a new build error on i386
when COMPILE_TEST is set:

drivers/usb/musb/musb_dsps.c: In function ‘dsps_read_fifo32’:
drivers/usb/musb/musb_dsps.c:624:3: error: implicit declaration of function
‘readsl’ [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]
readsl(fifo, dst, len >> 2);

Let's fix this by using ioread32_rep() instead of readsl() as that's
more portable.

1c41a9570a usb: patches for v4.1 merge window
As usual, a big pile of commits. This time a total
 of 111 non-merge commits.

Other than the usual set of cleanups and non-critical
fixes, we have some interesting work for AM335x's MUSB
babble recovery. Now that takes a lot less time and we
don't have to Reset MUSB all the time.

The printer gadget has been converted to configfs interface
and the atmel udc has learned suspend/resume with wakeup.
