Some of the code that's currently called from the Tegra machine setup
code is moved to regular initcalls. To catch dependency violations, the
various code paths now WARN if they're called to early. Not all of the
potential candidates are converted yet, but those that were have been
verified to work across all supported Tegra generations.
A new function, soc_is_tegra(), is also provided to make sure that the
initcalls can abort early if they aren't run on Tegra, which can happen
for multi-platform builds.
Finally this also moves out the PMC driver to drivers/soc/tegra so that
it can be shared with 64-bit ARM.
This is based on the for-3.17/fuse-move branch. The split is somewhat
arbitrary but allows the dependents of the for-3.17/fuse-move to pull
in as little code as necessary.

into a centralized location which could be shared with ARM64. It also
adds support for reading the fuse data through sysfs.
Included is also some preparatory work that moves Tegra-related header
files from include/linux to include/soc/tegra as suggested by Arnd.
Furthermore the Tegra chip ID is now retrieved using a function rather
than a variable so that sanity checks can be done. This is convenient
in subsequent patches that will move some of the code that's currently
called from Tegra machine setup into regular initcalls so that it can
be reused on 64-bit ARM. The sanity checks help with verifying that no
code tries to obtain the Tegra chip ID before the underlying driver is

ARMv6 and greater introduced a new instruction ("bx") which can be used
to return from function calls. Recent CPUs perform better when the
"bx lr" instruction is used rather than the "mov pc, lr" instruction,
and this sequence is strongly recommended to be used by the ARM
architecture manual (section A.4.1.1).
We provide a new macro "ret" with all its variants for the condition
code which will resolve to the appropriate instruction.
Rather than doing this piecemeal, and miss some instances, change all
the "mov pc" instances to use the new macro, with the exception of
the "movs" instruction and the kprobes code. This allows us to detect
the "mov pc, lr" case and fix it up - and also gives us the possibility
of deploying this for other registers depending on the CPU selection.

This commit converts the PMC support code to a platform driver. Because
the boot process needs to call into this driver very early, also set up
a minimal environment via an early initcall.
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
Rather than rely on explicit initialization order called from SoC setup
code, use a plain initcall and rely on initcall ordering to take care of
dependencies.
This driver exposes some functionality (querying the chip ID) needed at
very early stages of the boot process. An early initcall is good enough
provided that some of the dependencies are deferred to later stages. To
make sure any abuses are easily caught, output a warning message if the
chip ID is queried while it can't be read yet.
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
Currently the reset vector is not locked on Tegra20 because the hardware
doesn't support it. However in order not to depend on the chip ID, which
becomes available only later in the boot process, we set the bit anyway.
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
CPU hotplug support doesn't have to be set up until fairly late in the
boot process, so it can be done in a regular initcall. To make sure that
we don't miss any ordering problems in the future, output a warning if
any of the functions are called before initialization has completed.
This is part of untangling the boot order dependencies on Tegra so that
more code can be shared between 32-bit and 64-bit ARM.
Signed-off-by: Thierry Reding <treding@nvidia.com>
The Tegra20 fuse driver is the only user of tegra_apb_readl_using_dma().
Therefore we can simply the code by incorporating the APB DMA handling into
the driver directly. tegra_apb_writel_using_dma() is dropped because there
are no users.

Implement fuse driver for Tegra20, Tegra30, Tegra114 and Tegra124. This
replaces functionality previously provided in arch/arm/mach-tegra, which
is removed in this patch.
While at it, move the only user of the global tegra_revision variable
over to tegra_sku_info.revision and export tegra_fuse_readl() to allow
drivers to read calibration fuses.

All fuse related functionality will move to a driver in the following
patches. To prepare for this, export all the required functionality in a
global header file and move all users of fuse.h to soc/tegra/fuse.h.
While we're at it, remove tegra_bct_strapping, as its only user was
removed in Commit a7cbe92cef ("ARM: tegra: remove tegra EMC scaling

Export APB DMA readl and writel. These are needed because we can't
access the fuses directly on Tegra20 without potentially causing a
system hang. Also have the APB DMA readl and writel return an error in
case of a read failure instead of just returning zero or ignore write
failures.

Instead of using a simple variable access to get at the Tegra chip ID,
use a function so that we can run additional code. This can be used to
determine where the chip ID is being accessed without being available.
That in turn will be handy for resolving boot sequence dependencies in
order to convert more code to regular initcalls rather than a sequence
fixed by Tegra SoC setup code.

If these aren't sorted alphabetically, then the logical choice is to
append new ones, however that creates a lot of potential for conflicts
because every change will then add new includes in the same location.

A first set of bug fixes that didn't make it for the merge window, and
two Kconfig cleanups that still make sense at this point. Unfortunately,
one of the two cleanups caused an unintended change in the original
version, so we had to revert one part of it and do some more testing
to ensure the rest is really fine. There was also a last-minute
rebase of the patches to remove another bad commit.

The cache size should already be present in the L2 cache auxiliary
control register: it is part of the integration process to configure
the hardware IP. Most platforms get this right, yet still many
cargo-cult program, and assume that they always need specifying to
the L2 cache code. Remove them so we can find out which really need
this.

Since we now automatically enable early BRESP in core L2C-310 code when
we detect a Cortex-A9, we don't need platforms/SoCs to set this bit
explicitly. Instead, they should seek to preserve the value of bit 30
in the auxiliary control register.

When targetting ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM, we may include support for SoCs with
PCI-capable devices (e.g. mach-virt with virtio-pci).
This patch allows PCI support to be selected for these SoCs by selecting
CONFIG_MIGHT_HAVE_PCI when CONFIG_ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM=y and removes the
individual selections from multi-platform enabled SoCs.

The boot ROM on Tegra SoCs supports booting into forced recovery mode
(RCM) by setting a bit in the PMC scratch register 0. Similarily, the
Android bootloader examines some of the bits in this register to disable
autoboot or enter recovery mode.
Support these modes by setting the corresponding bits depending on the
specified reboot command (forced-recovery, bootloader, recovery). Recent
systemd-based distributions allow this to be specified using an optional
argument to the reboot command.

"A collection of fixes for ARM platforms. Most are fixes for DTS
files, mostly from DT conversion on OMAP which is still finding a few
issues here and there.
There's a couple of small stale code removal patches that we usually
queue for the next release instead, but they seemed harmless enough to
bring in now.
Also, a fix for backlight on some PXA platforms, and a cache
configuration fix for Tegra, etc"

arch/arm/mach-tegra/pm.c, kernel/power/console.c and mm/vmpressure.c
were somehow getting slab.h indirectly through cgroup.h which in turn
was getting it indirectly through xattr.h. A scheduled cgroup change
drops xattr.h inclusion from cgroup.h and breaks compilation of these
three files. Add explicit slab.h includes to the three files.
A pending cgroup patch depends on this change and it'd be great if
this can be routed through cgroup/for-3.14-fixes branch.

Updates of SoC-near drivers and other driver updates that makes more sense to
take through our tree.
The largest part of this is a conversion of device registration for some
renesas shmobile/sh devices over to use resources. This has required
coordination with the corresponding arch/sh changes, and we've agreed
to merge the arch/sh changes through our tree.
Added in this branch is support for Trusted Foundations secure firmware,
which is what is used on many of the commercial Nvidia Tegra products
that are in the market, including the Nvidia Shield. The code is local
to arch/arm at this time since it's uncertain whether it will be shared
with arm64 longer-term, if needed we will refactor later.
A couple of new RTC drivers used on ARM boards, merged through our tree
on request by the RTC maintainer.
... plus a bunch of smaller updates across the board, gpio conversions
for davinci, etc.

A big set this merge window, as we have much going on in
this subsystem. Major changes this time:
- Some core improvements and cleanups to the new GPIO
descriptor API. This seems to be working now so we can
start the exodus to this API, moving gradually away from
the global GPIO numberspace.
- Incremental improvements to the ACPI GPIO core, and move
the few GPIO ACPI clients we have to the GPIO descriptor
API right *now* before we go any further. We actually
managed to contain this *before* we started to litter
the kernel with yet another hackish global numberspace for
the ACPI GPIOs, which is a big win.
- The RFkill GPIO driver and all platforms using it have
been migrated to use the GPIO descriptors rather than
fixed number assignments. Tegra machine has been migrated
as part of this.
- New drivers for MOXA ART, Xtensa GPIO32 and SMSC SCH311x.
Those should be really good examples of how I expect a
nice GPIO driver to look these days.
- Do away with custom GPIO implementations on a major
part of the ARM machines: ks8695, lpc32xx, mv78xx0.
Make a first step towards the same in the horribly
convoluted Samsung S3C include forest. We expect to
continue to clean this up as we move forward.
- Flag GPIO lines used for IRQ on adnp, bcm-kona, em,
intel-mid and lynxpoint.
This makes the GPIOlib core aware that a certain GPIO line
is used for IRQs and can then enforce some semantics such
as disallowing a GPIO line marked as in use for IRQ to be
switched to output mode.
- Drop all use of irq_set_chip_and_handler_name().
The name provided in these cases were just unhelpful
tags like "mux" or "demux".
- Extend the MCP23s08 driver to handle interrupts.
- Minor incremental improvements for rcar, lynxpoint, em
74x164 and msm drivers.
- Some non-urgent bug fixes here and there, duplicate
#includes and that usual kind of cleanups.

This series converts the Tegra DTs and drivers to use the common/
standard DMA and reset bindings, rather than custom bindings. It also
adds complete documentation for the Tegra clock bindings without
actually changing any binding definitions.
This conversion relies on a few sets of patches in branches from outside
the Tegra tree:
1) A patch to add an DMA channel request API which allows deferred probe
to be implemented.
2) A patch to implement a common part of the of_xlate function for DMA
controllers.
3) Some ASoC patches (which in turn rely on (1) above), which support
deferred probe during DMA channel allocation.
4) The Tegra clock driver changes for 3.14.
Consequently, this branch is based on a merge of all of those external
branches.
In turn, this branch is or will be pulled into a few places that either
rely on features introduced here, or would otherwise conflict with the
patches:
a) Tegra's own for-3.14/powergate and for-4.14/dt branches, to avoid
conflicts.
b) The DRM tree, which introduces new code that relies on the reset
controller framework introduced in this branch, and to avoid
conflicts.

The static mappings for Tegra's PPSB and APB regions were sized at 1MB
in order to allow mapping via sections in order to avoid burning RAM for
PTEs. On LPAE, sections are 2MB, so the static mappings need to be
larger in order to gain the same benefit. Set IO_{PPSB,APB}_SIZE to
SECTION_SIZE so this adjusts automatically.
While we're fiddling with iomap.h, compress IO_{IRAM,CPU}_VIRT together

Stop writing to the UART clock divider registers in the Tegra DEBUG_LL
code. This allows the DEBUG_LL output to use whatever baud rate was set
up by the bootloader. Some users are using higher rates than 115200.
This removes the only usage of tegra_uart_config[3], so reduce the size
allocated for that array.
Finally, fix busyuart() so that it only waits for THRE and not TEMT. For
some reason, TEMT doesn't get asserted (at least on Tegra30 Beaver) at
9600 baud, even though it does at 115200 baud. This sounds like a HW bug,
but I haven't investigated. For reference, U-Boot's serial code has
always only checked THRE, and not checked TEMT.

CPU reset handler was set before fuse is initialized, but
tegra_cpu_reset_handler_enable() uses tegra_chip_id, which is set by

"Included in this series are:
1. BE8 (modern big endian) changes for ARM from Ben Dooks
2. big.Little support from Nicolas Pitre and Dave Martin
3. support for LPAE systems with all system memory above 4GB
4. Perf updates from Will Deacon
5. Additional prefetching and other performance improvements from Will.
6. Neon-optimised AES implementation fro Ard.
7. A number of smaller fixes scattered around the place.
There is a rather horrid merge conflict in tools/perf - I was never
notified of the conflict because it originally occurred between Will's
tree and other stuff. Consequently I have a resolution which Will
forwarded me, which I'll forward on immediately after sending this
mail.
The other notable thing is I'm expecting some build breakage in the
crypto stuff on ARM only with Ard's AES patches. These were merged
into a stable git branch which others had already pulled, so there's
little I can do about this. The problem is caused because these
patches have a dependency on some code in the crypto git tree - I
tried requesting a branch I can pull to resolve these, and all I got
each time from the crypto people was "we'll revert our patches then"
which would only make things worse since I still don't have the
dependent patches. I've no idea what's going on there or how to
resolve that, and since I can't split these patches from the rest of
this pull request, I'm rather stuck with pushing this as-is or
reverting Ard's patches.
Since it should "come out in the wash" I've left them in - the only
build problems they seem to cause at the moment are with randconfigs,
and since it's a new feature anyway. However, if by -rc1 the
dependencies aren't in, I think it'd be best to revert Ard's patches"
I resolved the perf conflict roughly as per the patch sent by Russell,
but there may be some differences. Any errors are likely mine. Let's
see how the crypto issues work out..

iomap.h defines the base address of Tegra peripherals. Most of this
information comes from device tree now, and hence can be deleted.

gpio-names.h defines IDs for GPIOs. This information now comes from
device tree, so delete this stale header. The one remaining use-case is

common.c was create to contain code shared across the various Tegra board
files. There is now only one board file, tegra.c. So, move the code there.
One exception is the PMC reboot routine, which moves to pmc.c, and now
takes advantage of the 'standard' tegra_pmc_readl/writel functions.
Signed-off-by: Stephen Warren <swarren@nvidia.com>
Tegra's board file currently initializes clocks much earlier than those
for most other ARM SoCs. The reason is:
* The PMC HW block is involved in the path of some interrupts (i.e. it
inverts, or not, the IRQ input pin dedicated to the PMIC).
* So, that part of the PMC must be initialized early so that the IRQ
polarity is correct.
* The PMC initialization is currently monolithic, and the PMC has some
clock inputs, so the init routine ends up calling of_clk_get_by_name(),
and hence clocks must be set up early too.
In order to defer clock initialization to the more typical location,
split out the portions of tegra_pmc_init() that are truly IRQ-related
into a separate tegra_pmc_init_irq(), which can be called from the
machine descriptor's .init_irq() function, and defer the rest until
the machine descriptor's .init_machine() function. This allows the
clock initiliazation to happen from the machine descriptor's
.init_time() function, as is typical.

This branch contains mostly additions and changes to platform enablement
and SoC-level drivers. Since there's sometimes a dependency on device-tree
changes, there's also a fair amount of those in this branch.
Pieces worth mentioning are:
- Mbus driver for Marvell platforms, allowing kernel configuration
and resource allocation of on-chip peripherals.
- Enablement of the mbus infrastructure from Marvell PCI-e drivers.
- Preparation of MSI support for Marvell platforms.
- Addition of new PCI-e host controller driver for Tegra platforms
- Some churn caused by sharing of macro names between i.MX 6Q and 6DL
platforms in the device tree sources and header files.
- Various suspend/PM updates for Tegra, including LP1 support.
- Versatile Express support for MCPM, part of big little support.
- Allwinner platform support for A20 and A31 SoCs (dual and quad Cortex-A7)
- OMAP2+ support for DRA7, a new Cortex-A15-based SoC.
The code that touches other architectures are patches moving
MSI arch-specific functions over to weak symbols and removal of
ARCH_SUPPORTS_MSI, acked by PCI maintainers.

those in this branch.
Pieces worth mentioning are:
- Mbus driver for Marvell platforms, allowing kernel configuration

- Enablement of the mbus infrastructure from Marvell PCI-e drivers.
- Preparation of MSI support for Marvell platforms.
- Addition of new PCI-e host controller driver for Tegra platforms
- Some churn caused by sharing of macro names between i.MX 6Q and 6DL
platforms in the device tree sources and header files.
- Various suspend/PM updates for Tegra, including LP1 support.
- Versatile Express support for MCPM, part of big little support.
- Allwinner platform support for A20 and A31 SoCs (dual and quad

Tegra20 HW appears to have a bug such that PCIe device interrupts,
whether they are legacy IRQs or MSI, are lost when LP2 is enabled. To
work around this, simply disable LP2 if any PCIe devices with interrupts
are present. Detect this via the IRQ domain map operation. This is
slightly over-conservative; if a device with an interrupt is present but
the driver does not actually use them, LP2 will still be disabled.
However, this is a reasonable trade-off which enables a simpler
workaround.

The LP1 suspend mode will power off the CPU, clock gated the PLLs and put
SDRAM to self-refresh mode. Any interrupt can wake up device from LP1. The
sequence when LP1 suspending:
* tunning off L1 data cache and the MMU
* storing some EMC registers, DPD (deep power down) status, clk source of
mselect and SCLK burst policy
* putting SDRAM into self-refresh
* switching CPU to CLK_M (12MHz OSC)
* tunning off PLLM, PLLP, PLLA, PLLC and PLLX
* switching SCLK to CLK_S (32KHz OSC)
* shutting off the CPU rail
The sequence of LP1 resuming:
* re-enabling PLLM, PLLP, PLLA, PLLC and PLLX
* restoring the clk source of mselect and SCLK burst policy
* setting up CCLK burst policy to PLLX
* restoring DPD status and some EMC registers
* resuming SDRAM to normal mode
* jumping to the "tegra_resume" from PMC_SCRATCH41
Due to the SDRAM will be put into self-refresh mode, the low level
procedures of LP1 suspending and resuming should be copied to
TEGRA_IRAM_CODE_AREA (TEGRA_IRAM_BASE + SZ_4K) when suspending. Before
restoring the CPU context when resuming, the SDRAM needs to be switched

be restored. Then jumping to "tegra_resume" that was expected to be stored

The LP1 suspending mode on Tegra means CPU rail off, devices and PLLs are
clock gated and SDRAM in self-refresh mode. That means the low level LP1
suspending and resuming code couldn't be run on DRAM and the CPU must
switch to the always on clock domain (a.k.a. CLK_M 12MHz oscillator). And
the system clock (SCLK) would be switched to CLK_S, a 32KHz oscillator.
The LP1 low level handling code need to be moved to IRAM area first. And
marking the LP1 mask for indicating the Tegra device is in LP1. The CPU
power timer needs to be re-calculated based on 32KHz that was originally
based on PCLK.
When resuming from LP1, the LP1 reset handler will resume PLLs and then
put DRAM to normal mode. Then jumping to the "tegra_resume" that will
restore full context before back to kernel. The "tegra_resume" handler
was expected to be found in PMC_SCRATCH41 register.
This is common LP1 procedures for Tegra, so we do these jobs mainly in
this patch:
* moving LP1 low level handling code to IRAM
* marking LP1 mask
* copying the physical address of "tegra_resume" to PMC_SCRATCH41
* re-calculate the CPU power timer based on 32KHz

Add support to the Tegra CPU reset vector to detect whether the CPU is
resuming from LP1 suspend state. If it is, branch to the LP1-specific
resume code.
When Tegra enters the LP1 suspend state, the SDRAM controller is placed
into a self-refresh state. For this reason, we must place the LP1 resume
code into IRAM, so that it is accessible before SDRAM access has been

This supports CPU core power down on each CPU when CPU idle. When CPU go
into this state, it saves it's context and needs a proper configuration
in flow controller to power gate the CPU when CPU runs into WFI
instruction. And the CPU also needs to set the IRQ as CPU power down idle
wake up event in flow controller.

The flow controller would take care the power sequence when CPU idle in
powered-down mode. It powered gate the CPU when CPU runs into WFI
instruction. And wake up the CPU when event be triggered.
The sequence is below.
* setting wfi bitmap for the CPU as the halt event in the
FLOW_CTRL_CPU_HALT_REG to monitor the CPU running into WFI,then power
gate it
* setting IRQ and FIQ as wake up event to wake up CPU when event triggered

There is a difference between GICv1 and v2 when CPU in power management
mode (aka CPU power down on Tegra). For GICv1, IRQ/FIQ interrupt lines
going to CPU are same lines which are also used for wake-interrupt.
Therefore, we cannot disable the GIC CPU interface if we need to use same
interrupts for CPU wake purpose. This creates a race condition for CPU
power off entry. Also, in GICv1, disabling GICv1 CPU interface puts GICv1
into bypass mode such that incoming legacy IRQ/FIQ are sent to CPU, which
means disabling GIC CPU interface doesn't really disable IRQ/FIQ to CPU.
GICv2 provides a wake IRQ/FIQ (for wake-event purpose), which are not
disabled by GIC CPU interface. This is done by adding a bypass override
capability when the interrupts are disabled at the CPU interface. To
support this, there are four bits about IRQ/FIQ BypassDisable in CPU
interface Control Register. When the IRQ/FIQ not being driver by the
CPU interface, each interrupt output signal can be deasserted rather
than being driven by the legacy interrupt input.
So the wake-event can be used as wakeup signals to SoC (system power
controller).
To prevent race conditions and ensure proper interrupt routing on
Cortex-A15 CPUs when they are power-gated, add a CPU PM notifier
call-back to reprogram the GIC CPU interface on PM entry. The
GIC CPU interface will be reset back to its normal state by
the common GIC CPU PM exit callback when the CPU wakes up.

The __cpuinit type of throwaway sections might have made sense
some time ago when RAM was more constrained, but now the savings
do not offset the cost and complications. For example, the fix in
commit 5e427ec2d0 ("x86: Fix bit corruption at CPU resume time")
is a good example of the nasty type of bugs that can be created
with improper use of the various __init prefixes.
After a discussion on LKML[1] it was decided that cpuinit should go
the way of devinit and be phased out. Once all the users are gone,
we can then finally remove the macros themselves from linux/init.h.
Note that some harmless section mismatch warnings may result, since
notify_cpu_starting() and cpu_up() are arch independent (kernel/cpu.c)
and are flagged as __cpuinit -- so if we remove the __cpuinit from
the arch specific callers, we will also get section mismatch warnings.
As an intermediate step, we intend to turn the linux/init.h cpuinit
related content into no-ops as early as possible, since that will get
rid of these warnings. In any case, they are temporary and harmless.
This removes all the ARM uses of the __cpuinit macros from C code,
and all __CPUINIT from assembly code. It also had two ".previous"
section statements that were paired off against __CPUINIT
(aka .section ".cpuinit.text") that also get removed here.

Merge tag 'pm+acpi-3.11-rc1' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/rafael/linux-pm
Pull power management and ACPI updates from Rafael Wysocki:
"This time the total number of ACPI commits is slightly greater than
the number of cpufreq commits, but Viresh Kumar (who works on cpufreq)
remains the most active patch submitter.
To me, the most significant change is the addition of offline/online
device operations to the driver core (with the Greg's blessing) and
the related modifications of the ACPI core hotplug code. Next are the
freezer updates from Colin Cross that should make the freezing of
tasks a bit less heavy weight.
We also have a couple of regression fixes, a number of fixes for
issues that have not been identified as regressions, two new drivers
and a bunch of cleanups all over.
Highlights:
- Hotplug changes to support graceful hot-removal failures.
It sometimes is necessary to fail device hot-removal operations
gracefully if they cannot be carried out completely. For example,
if memory from a memory module being hot-removed has been allocated
for the kernel's own use and cannot be moved elsewhere, it's
desirable to fail the hot-removal operation in a graceful way
rather than to crash the kernel, but currenty a success or a kernel
crash are the only possible outcomes of an attempted memory
hot-removal. Needless to say, that is not a very attractive
alternative and it had to be addressed.
However, in order to make it work for memory, I first had to make
it work for CPUs and for this purpose I needed to modify the ACPI
processor driver. It's been split into two parts, a resident one
handling the low-level initialization/cleanup and a modular one
playing the actual driver's role (but it binds to the CPU system
device objects rather than to the ACPI device objects representing
processors). That's been sort of like a live brain surgery on a
patient who's riding a bike.
So this is a little scary, but since we found and fixed a couple of
regressions it caused to happen during the early linux-next testing
(a month ago), nobody has complained.
As a bonus we remove some duplicated ACPI hotplug code, because the
ACPI-based CPU hotplug is now going to use the common ACPI hotplug
code.
- Lighter weight freezing of tasks.
These changes from Colin Cross and Mandeep Singh Baines are
targeted at making the freezing of tasks a bit less heavy weight
operation. They reduce the number of tasks woken up every time
during the freezing, by using the observation that the freezer
simply doesn't need to wake up some of them and wait for them all
to call refrigerator(). The time needed for the freezer to decide
to report a failure is reduced too.
Also reintroduced is the check causing a lockdep warining to
trigger when try_to_freeze() is called with locks held (which is
generally unsafe and shouldn't happen).
- cpufreq updates
First off, a commit from Srivatsa S Bhat fixes a resume regression
introduced during the 3.10 cycle causing some cpufreq sysfs
attributes to return wrong values to user space after resume. The
fix is kind of fresh, but also it's pretty obvious once Srivatsa
has identified the root cause.
Second, we have a new freqdomain_cpus sysfs attribute for the
acpi-cpufreq driver to provide information previously available via
related_cpus. From Lan Tianyu.
Finally, we fix a number of issues, mostly related to the
CPUFREQ_POSTCHANGE notifier and cpufreq Kconfig options and clean
up some code. The majority of changes from Viresh Kumar with bits
from Jacob Shin, Heiko Stübner, Xiaoguang Chen, Ezequiel Garcia,
Arnd Bergmann, and Tang Yuantian.
- ACPICA update
A usual bunch of updates from the ACPICA upstream.
During the 3.4 cycle we introduced support for ACPI 5 extended
sleep registers, but they are only supposed to be used if the
HW-reduced mode bit is set in the FADT flags and the code attempted
to use them without checking that bit. That caused suspend/resume
regressions to happen on some systems. Fix from Lv Zheng causes
those registers to be used only if the HW-reduced mode bit is set.
Apart from this some other ACPICA bugs are fixed and code cleanups
are made by Bob Moore, Tomasz Nowicki, Lv Zheng, Chao Guan, and
Zhang Rui.
- cpuidle updates
New driver for Xilinx Zynq processors is added by Michal Simek.
Multidriver support simplification, addition of some missing
kerneldoc comments and Kconfig-related fixes come from Daniel
Lezcano.
- ACPI power management updates
Changes to make suspend/resume work correctly in Xen guests from
Konrad Rzeszutek Wilk, sparse warning fix from Fengguang Wu and
cleanups and fixes of the ACPI device power state selection
routine.
- ACPI documentation updates
Some previously missing pieces of ACPI documentation are added by
Lv Zheng and Aaron Lu (hopefully, that will help people to
uderstand how the ACPI subsystem works) and one outdated doc is
updated by Hanjun Guo.
- Assorted ACPI updates
We finally nailed down the IA-64 issue that was the reason for
reverting commit 9f29ab11dd ("ACPI / scan: do not match drivers
against objects having scan handlers"), so we can fix it and move
the ACPI scan handler check added to the ACPI video driver back to
the core.
A mechanism for adding CMOS RTC address space handlers is
introduced by Lan Tianyu to allow some EC-related breakage to be
fixed on some systems.
A spec-compliant implementation of acpi_os_get_timer() is added by
Mika Westerberg.
The evaluation of _STA is added to do_acpi_find_child() to avoid
situations in which a pointer to a disabled device object is
returned instead of an enabled one with the same _ADR value. From
Jeff Wu.
Intel BayTrail PCH (Platform Controller Hub) support is added to
the ACPI driver for Intel Low-Power Subsystems (LPSS) and that
driver is modified to work around a couple of known BIOS issues.
Changes from Mika Westerberg and Heikki Krogerus.
The EC driver is fixed by Vasiliy Kulikov to use get_user() and
put_user() instead of dereferencing user space pointers blindly.
Code cleanups are made by Bjorn Helgaas, Nicholas Mazzuca and Toshi
Kani.
- Assorted power management updates
The "runtime idle" helper routine is changed to take the return
values of the callbacks executed by it into account and to call
rpm_suspend() if they return 0, which allows us to reduce the
overall code bloat a bit (by dropping some code that's not
necessary any more after that modification).
The runtime PM documentation is updated by Alan Stern (to reflect
the "runtime idle" behavior change).
New trace points for PM QoS are added by Sahara
(<keun-o.park@windriver.com>).
PM QoS documentation is updated by Lan Tianyu.
Code cleanups are made and minor issues are addressed by Bernie
Thompson, Bjorn Helgaas, Julius Werner, and Shuah Khan.
- devfreq updates
New driver for the Exynos5-bus device from Abhilash Kesavan.
Minor cleanups, fixes and MAINTAINERS update from MyungJoo Ham,
Abhilash Kesavan, Paul Bolle, Rajagopal Venkat, and Wei Yongjun.
- OMAP power management updates

Pull ARM updates from Russell King:
"This contains the usual updates from other people (listed below) and
the usual random muddle of miscellaneous ARM updates which cover some
low priority bug fixes and performance improvements.
I've started to put the pull request wording into the merge commits,
which are:
- NoMMU stuff:
This includes the following series sent earlier to the list:
- nommu-fixes
- R7 Support
- MPU support
I've left out the ARCH_MULTIPLATFORM/!MMU stuff that Arnd and I
were discussing today until we've reached a conclusion/that's had
some more review.
This is rebased (and re-tested) on your devel-stable branch because
otherwise there were going to be conflicts with Uwe's V7M work now
that you've merged that. I've included the fix for limiting MPU to
CPU_V7.
- Huge page support
These changes bring both HugeTLB support and Transparent HugePage
(THP) support to ARM. Only long descriptors (LPAE) are supported
in this series.
The code has been tested on an Arndale board (Exynos 5250).
- LPAE updates
Please pull these miscellaneous LPAE fixes I've been collecting for
a while now for 3.11. They've been tested and reviewed by quite a
few people, and most of the patches are pretty trivial. -- Will Deacon.
- arch_timer cleanups
Please pull these arch_timer cleanups I've been holding onto for a
while. They're the same as my last posting, but have been rebased
to v3.10-rc3.
- mpidr linearisation (multiprocessor id register - identifies which
CPU number we are in the system)
This patch series that implements MPIDR linearization through a
simple hashing algorithm and updates current cpu_{suspend}/{resume}
code to use the newly created hash structures to retrieve context
pointers. It represents a stepping stone for the implementation of
power management code on forthcoming multi-cluster ARM systems.
It has been tested on TC2 (dual cluster A15xA7 system), iMX6q,
OMAP4 and Tegra, with processors hitting low-power states requiring
warm-boot resume through the cpu_resume code path"

...
These changes are all to SoC-specific code, a total of 33 branches on
17 platforms were pulled into this. Like last time, Renesas sh-mobile
is now the platform with the most changes, followed by OMAP and EXYNOS.
Two new platforms, TI Keystone and Rockchips RK3xxx are added in
this branch, both containing almost no platform specific code at all,
since they are using generic subsystem interfaces for clocks, pinctrl,
interrupts etc. The device drivers are getting merged through the
respective subsystem maintainer trees.
One more SoC (u300) is now multiplatform capable and several others
(shmobile, exynos, msm, integrator, kirkwood, clps711x) are moving
towards that goal with this series but need more work.
Also noteworthy is the work on PCI here, which is traditionally part of
the SoC specific code. With the changes done by Thomas Petazzoni, we can
now more easily have PCI host controller drivers as loadable modules and
keep them separate from the platform code in drivers/pci/host. This has
already led to the discovery that three platforms (exynos, spear and imx)
are actually using an identical PCIe host controller and will be able
to share a driver once support for spear and imx is added.
Conflicts:
* asm/glue-proc.h has one CPU type getting added that conflicts
with another addition in 3.10-rc7
* Simple context changes in arch/arm/Makefile and arch/arm/Kconfig

Merge tag 'soc-for-linus' of git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/arm/arm-soc
Pull ARM SoC specific changes from Arnd Bergmann:
"These changes are all to SoC-specific code, a total of 33 branches on
17 platforms were pulled into this. Like last time, Renesas sh-mobile
is now the platform with the most changes, followed by OMAP and
EXYNOS.
Two new platforms, TI Keystone and Rockchips RK3xxx are added in this
branch, both containing almost no platform specific code at all, since
they are using generic subsystem interfaces for clocks, pinctrl,
interrupts etc. The device drivers are getting merged through the
respective subsystem maintainer trees.
One more SoC (u300) is now multiplatform capable and several others
(shmobile, exynos, msm, integrator, kirkwood, clps711x) are moving
towards that goal with this series but need more work.
Also noteworthy is the work on PCI here, which is traditionally part
of the SoC specific code. With the changes done by Thomas Petazzoni,
we can now more easily have PCI host controller drivers as loadable
modules and keep them separate from the platform code in
drivers/pci/host. This has already led to the discovery that three
platforms (exynos, spear and imx) are actually using an identical PCIe
host controller and will be able to share a driver once support for
spear and imx is added."

tegra_pmc_parse_dt() references __initconst data. Fix it to be __init.
This matches its only usage; a call from tegra_pmc_init() which is
already __init. This fixes:

Separate the smp_twd timers from the local timer API. This will
allow us to remove ARM local timer support in the near future and
gets us closer to moving this driver to drivers/clocksource.

currently Tegra cpufreq driver gets built based on ARCH_TEGRA, which doesn't
depend on nor select CPU_FREQ itself, so:
select CPU_FREQ_TABLE if CPU_FREQ
... isn't guaranteed to fire.
The correct solution seems to be:
* Add CONFIG_ARM_TEGRA_CPUFREQ to drivers/cpufreq/Kconfig.arm.
* Make that Kconfig option selct CPU_FREQ_TABLE.
* Make that Kconfig option be def_bool ARCH_TEGRA.
* Modify drivers/cpufreq/Makefile to build tegra-cpufreq.c based on that.
* Remove all the cpufreq-related stuff from arch/arm/mach-tegra/Kconfig.
That way, tegra-cpufreq.c can't be built if !CPU_FREQ, and Tegra's
cpufreq works the same way as all the other cpufreq drivers.
This patch does it.

In 8a4da6e: "arm: arch_timer: move core to drivers/clocksource", the
selection of ARM_ARCH_TIMER was indirected via HAVE_ARM_ARCH_TIMER,
though mach-exynos's selection of ARM_ARCH_TIMER was missed, and since
then mach-shmobile, mach-tegra, and mach-virt have begun selecting
ARM_ARCH_TIMER. This can lead to architected timer support erroneously
appearing to not be selected in menuconfig.
This patch fixes up the Kconfigs for those platforms to select
HAVE_ARM_ARCH_TIMER.
