Two new SoC families are added this time.
Sugaya Taichi submitted support for the Milbeaut SoC family from
Socionext and explains:
"SC2000 is a SoC of the Milbeaut series. equipped with a DSP optimized for
computer vision. It also features advanced functionalities such as 360-degree,
real-time spherical stitching with multi cameras, image stabilization for
without mechanical gimbals, and rolling shutter correction. More detail is
below:
https://www.socionext.com/en/products/assp/milbeaut/SC2000.html"
Interestingly, this one has a history dating back to older chips
made by Socionext and previously Matsushita/Panasonic based on their
own mn10300 CPU architecture that was removed from the kernel last year.
Manivannan Sadhasivam adds support for another SoC family, this is the
Bitmain BM1880 chip used in the Sophon Edge TPU developer board.
The chip is intended for Deep Learning applications, and comes
with dual-core Arm Cortex-A53 to run Linux as well as a RISC-V
microcontroller core to control the tensor unit.
For the moment, the TPU is not accessible in mainline Linux, so
we treat it as a generic Arm SoC.

As usual, the drivers/tee and drivers/reset subsystems get merged
here, with the expected set of smaller updates and some new hardware
support. The tee subsystem now supports device drivers to be attached
to a tee, the first example here is a random number driver with its
implementation in the secure world.
Three new power domain drivers get added for specific chip families:
- Broadcom BCM283x chips (used in Raspberry Pi)
- Qualcomm Snapdragon phone chips
- Xilinx ZynqMP FPGA SoCs
One new driver is added to talk to the BPMP firmware on NVIDIA
Tegra210
Existing drivers are extended for new SoC variants from NXP,
NVIDIA, Amlogic and Qualcomm.

"The biggest part of this tree is the new auto-generated atomics API
wrappers by Mark Rutland.
The primary motivation was to allow instrumentation without uglifying
the primary source code.
The linecount increase comes from adding the auto-generated files to
the Git space as well:
include/asm-generic/atomic-instrumented.h | 1689 ++++++++++++++++--
include/asm-generic/atomic-long.h | 1174 ++++++++++---
include/linux/atomic-fallback.h | 2295 +++++++++++++++++++++++++
include/linux/atomic.h | 1241 +------------
I preferred this approach, so that the full call stack of the (already
complex) locking APIs is still fully visible in 'git grep'.
But if this is excessive we could certainly hide them.
There's a separate build-time mechanism to determine whether the
headers are out of date (they should never be stale if we do our job
right).
Anyway, nothing from this should be visible to regular kernel
developers.

We have common pattern to access lru_lock from a page pointer:
zone_lru_lock(page_zone(page))
Which is silly, because it unfolds to this:
&NODE_DATA(page_to_nid(page))->node_zones[page_zonenum(page)]->zone_pgdat->lru_lock
while we can simply do
&NODE_DATA(page_to_nid(page))->lru_lock
Remove zone_lru_lock() function, since it's only complicate things. Use
'page_pgdat(page)->lru_lock' pattern instead.

Currently THP allocation events data is fairly opaque, since you can
only get it system-wide. This patch makes it easier to reason about
transparent hugepage behaviour on a per-memcg basis.
For anonymous THP-backed pages, we already have MEMCG_RSS_HUGE in v1,
which is used for v1's rss_huge [sic]. This is reused here as it's
fairly involved to untangle NR_ANON_THPS right now to make it per-memcg,
since right now some of this is delegated to rmap before we have any
memcg actually assigned to the page. It's a good idea to rework that,
but let's leave untangling THP allocation for a future patch.

PG_balloon was introduced to implement page migration/compaction for
pages inflated in virtio-balloon. Nowadays, it is only a marker that a
page is part of virtio-balloon and therefore logically offline.
We also want to make use of this flag in other balloon drivers - for
inflated pages or when onlining a section but keeping some pages offline
(e.g. used right now by XEN and Hyper-V via set_online_page_callback()).
We are going to expose this flag to dump tools like makedumpfile. But
instead of exposing PG_balloon, let's generalize the concept of marking
pages as logically offline, so it can be reused for other purposes later
on.
Rename PG_balloon to PG_offline. This is an indicator that the page is
logically offline, the content stale and that it should not be touched
(e.g. a hypervisor would have to allocate backing storage in order for
the guest to dump an unused page). We can then e.g. exclude such pages
from dumps.
We replace and reuse KPF_BALLOON (23), as this shouldn't really harm
(and for now the semantics stay the same). In following patches, we
will make use of this bit also in other balloon drivers. While at it,
document PGTABLE.

"Just a single change from the anti-performance departement:
- Add a new PR_SPEC_DISABLE_NOEXEC option which allows to apply the
speculation protections on a process without inheriting the state
on exec.
This remedies a situation where a Java-launcher has speculation
protections enabled because that's the default for JVMs which
causes the launched regular harmless processes to inherit the
protection state which results in unintended performance
degradation"

DM cache now defaults to passing discards down to the origin device.
User may disable this using the "no_discard_passdown" feature when
creating the cache device.
If the cache's underlying origin device doesn't support discards then
passdown is disabled (with warning). Similarly, if the underlying
origin device's max_discard_sectors is less than a cache block discard
passdown will be disabled (this is required because sizing of the cache
internal discard bitset depends on it).

Add a "create" module parameter, which allows device-mapper targets to
be configured at boot time. This enables early use of DM targets in the
boot process (as the root device or otherwise) without the need of an
initramfs.
The syntax used in the boot param is based on the concise format from
the dmsetup tool to follow the rule of least surprise:
dmsetup table --concise /dev/mapper/lroot
Which is:
dm-mod.create=<name>,<uuid>,<minor>,<flags>,<table>[,<table>+][;<name>,<uuid>,<minor>,<flags>,<table>[,<table>+]+]
Where,
<name> ::= The device name.
<uuid> ::= xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx | ""
<minor> ::= The device minor number | ""
<flags> ::= "ro" | "rw"
<table> ::= <start_sector> <num_sectors> <target_type> <target_args>
<target_type> ::= "verity" | "linear" | ...
For example, the following could be added in the boot parameters:
dm-mod.create="lroot,,,rw, 0 4096 linear 98:16 0, 4096 4096 linear 98:32 0" root=/dev/dm-0
Only the targets that were tested are allowed and the ones that don't
change any block device when the device is create as read-only. For
example, mirror and cache targets are not allowed. The rationale behind
this is that if the user makes a mistake, choosing the wrong device to
be the mirror or the cache can corrupt data.
The only targets initially allowed are:
* crypt
* delay
* linear
* snapshot-origin
* striped
* verity

Pull regulator updates from Mark Brown:
"The bulk of the standout changes in this release are cleanups, with
the core work being a combination of factoring out common code into
helpers and the completion of the conversion of the core to use GPIO
descriptors.
Summary:
- Addition of helper functions for current limits and conversion of
drivers to use them by Axel Lin.
- Lots and lots of cleanups from Axel Lin.
- Conversion of the core to use GPIO descriptors rather than numbers
by Linus Walleij.
- New drivers for Maxim MAX77650 and ROHM BD70528"

pull-request: bpf-next 2019-03-04
The following pull-request contains BPF updates for your *net-next* tree.
The main changes are:
1) Add AF_XDP support to libbpf. Rationale is to facilitate writing
AF_XDP applications by offering higher-level APIs that hide many
of the details of the AF_XDP uapi. Sample programs are converted
over to this new interface as well, from Magnus.
2) Introduce a new cant_sleep() macro for annotation of functions
that cannot sleep and use it in BPF_PROG_RUN() to assert that
BPF programs run under preemption disabled context, from Peter.
3) Introduce per BPF prog stats in order to monitor the usage
of BPF; this is controlled by kernel.bpf_stats_enabled sysctl
knob where monitoring tools can make use of this to efficiently
determine the average cost of programs, from Alexei.
4) Split up BPF selftest's test_progs similarly as we already
did with test_verifier. This allows to further reduce merge
conflicts in future and to get more structure into our
quickly growing BPF selftest suite, from Stanislav.
5) Fix a bug in BTF's dedup algorithm which can cause an infinite
loop in some circumstances; also various BPF doc fixes and
improvements, from Andrii.
6) Various BPF sample cleanups and migration to libbpf in order
to further isolate the old sample loader code (so we can get
rid of it at some point), from Jakub.
7) Add a new BPF helper for BPF cgroup skb progs that allows
to set ECN CE code point and a Host Bandwidth Manager (HBM)
sample program for limiting the bandwidth used by v2 cgroups,
from Lawrence.
8) Enable write access to skb->queue_mapping from tc BPF egress
programs in order to let BPF pick TX queue, from Jesper.
9) Fix a bug in BPF spinlock handling for map-in-map which did
not propagate spin_lock_off to the meta map, from Yonghong.
10) Fix a bug in the new per-CPU BPF prog counters to properly
initialize stats for each CPU, from Eric.
11) Add various BPF helper prototypes to selftest's bpf_helpers.h,
from Willem.
12) Fix various BPF samples bugs in XDP and tracing progs,
from Toke, Daniel and Yonghong.
13) Silence preemption splat in test_bpf after BPF_PROG_RUN()
enforces it now everywhere, from Anders.
14) Fix a signedness bug in libbpf's btf_dedup_ref_type() to
get error handling working, from Dan.
15) Fix bpftool documentation and auto-completion with regards
to stream_{verdict,parser} attach types, from Alban.

There is no more direct user of this macro; it is only used by
cc-ifversion.
Calling this macro is not efficient since it invokes the compiler to
get the compiler version. CONFIG_GCC_VERSION is already calculated in
the Kconfig stage, so Makefile can reuse it.
Here is a note about the slight difference between cc-version and
CONFIG_GCC_VERSION:
When using Clang, cc-version is evaluated to '0402' because Clang
defines __GNUC__ and __GNUC__MINOR__, and looks like GCC 4.2 in the
version point of view. On the other hand, CONFIG_GCC_VERSION=0
when $(CC) is clang.
There are currently two users of cc-ifversion:
arch/mips/loongson64/Platform
arch/powerpc/Makefile
They are not affected by this change.
The format of cc-version is <major><minor>, while CONFIG_GCC_VERSION
<major><minor><patch>. I adjusted cc-ifversion for the difference of
the number of digits.

Sugaya Taichi <sugaya.taichi@socionext.com> explains:
Here is the series of patches the initial support for SC2000(M10V) of
Milbeaut SoCs. "M10V" is the internal name of SC2000, so commonly used in
source code.
SC2000 is a SoC of the Milbeaut series. equipped with a DSP optimized for
computer vision. It also features advanced functionalities such as 360-degree,
real-time spherical stitching with multi cameras, image stabilization for
without mechanical gimbals, and rolling shutter correction. More detail is
below:
https://www.socionext.com/en/products/assp/milbeaut/SC2000.html
Specifications for developers are below:
- Quad-core 32bit Cortex-A7 on ARMv7-A architecture
- NEON support
- DSP
- GPU
- MAX 3GB DDR3
- Cortex-M0 for power control
- NAND Flash Interface
- SD UHS-I
- SD UHS-II
- SDIO
- USB2.0 HOST / Device
- USB3.0 HOST / Device
- PCI express Gen2
- Ethernet Engine
- I2C
- UART
- SPI
- PWM
Support is quite minimal for now, since it only includes timer, clock,
pictrl and serial controller drivers, so we can only boot to userspace
through initramfs. Support for the other peripherals will come eventually.

On the Fujitsu-A64FX cores ver(1.0, 1.1), memory access may cause
an undefined fault (Data abort, DFSC=0b111111). This fault occurs under
a specific hardware condition when a load/store instruction performs an
address translation. Any load/store instruction, except non-fault access
including Armv8 and SVE might cause this undefined fault.
The TCR_ELx.NFD1 bit is used by the kernel when CONFIG_RANDOMIZE_BASE
is enabled to mitigate timing attacks against KASLR where the kernel
address space could be probed using the FFR and suppressed fault on
SVE loads.
Since this erratum causes spurious exceptions, which may corrupt
the exception registers, we clear the TCR_ELx.NFDx=1 bits when
booting on an affected CPU.

That is, for both read and write descriptors query upiu, we are using the

When we had a write descriptor query upiu, we appended the descriptor right
after the bsg request. This was fine as the bsg driver allows to allocate
whatever buffer we needed in its job request.
Still, the proper way to deliver payload, however small (we only write
config descriptors of 144 bytes), is by using the job request payload data
buffer.
So change this ABI now, while ufs-bsg is still new, and nobody is actually

The issue is that Heiner converted the marvell10g driver over to

The Allwinner A64 SoC is known[1] to have an unstable architectural
timer, which manifests itself most obviously in the time jumping forward
a multiple of 95 years[2][3]. This coincides with 2^56 cycles at a
timer frequency of 24 MHz, implying that the time went slightly backward
(and this was interpreted by the kernel as it jumping forward and
wrapping around past the epoch).
Investigation revealed instability in the low bits of CNTVCT at the
point a high bit rolls over. This leads to power-of-two cycle forward
and backward jumps. (Testing shows that forward jumps are about twice as
likely as backward jumps.) Since the counter value returns to normal
after an indeterminate read, each "jump" really consists of both a
forward and backward jump from the software perspective.
Unless the kernel is trapping CNTVCT reads, a userspace program is able
to read the register in a loop faster than it changes. A test program
running on all 4 CPU cores that reported jumps larger than 100 ms was
run for 13.6 hours and reported the following:
Count | Event
-------+---------------------------
9940 | jumped backward 699ms
268 | jumped backward 1398ms
1 | jumped backward 2097ms
16020 | jumped forward 175ms
6443 | jumped forward 699ms
2976 | jumped forward 1398ms
9 | jumped forward 356516ms
9 | jumped forward 357215ms
4 | jumped forward 714430ms
1 | jumped forward 3578440ms
This works out to a jump larger than 100 ms about every 5.5 seconds on
each CPU core.
The largest jump (almost an hour!) was the following sequence of reads:
0x0000007fffffffff → 0x00000093feffffff → 0x0000008000000000
Note that the middle bits don't necessarily all read as all zeroes or
all ones during the anomalous behavior; however the low 10 bits checked
by the function in this patch have never been observed with any other
value.
Also note that smaller jumps are much more common, with backward jumps
of 2048 (2^11) cycles observed over 400 times per second on each core.
(Of course, this is partially explained by lower bits rolling over more
frequently.) Any one of these could have caused the 95 year time skip.
Similar anomalies were observed while reading CNTPCT (after patching the
kernel to allow reads from userspace). However, the CNTPCT jumps are
much less frequent, and only small jumps were observed. The same program
as before (except now reading CNTPCT) observed after 72 hours:
Count | Event
-------+---------------------------
17 | jumped backward 699ms
52 | jumped forward 175ms
2831 | jumped forward 699ms
5 | jumped forward 1398ms
Further investigation showed that the instability in CNTPCT/CNTVCT also
affected the respective timer's TVAL register. The following values were
observed immediately after writing CNVT_TVAL to 0x10000000:
CNTVCT | CNTV_TVAL | CNTV_CVAL | CNTV_TVAL Error
--------------------+------------+--------------------+-----------------
0x000000d4a2d8bfff | 0x10003fff | 0x000000d4b2d8bfff | +0x00004000
0x000000d4a2d94000 | 0x0fffffff | 0x000000d4b2d97fff | -0x00004000
0x000000d4a2d97fff | 0x10003fff | 0x000000d4b2d97fff | +0x00004000
0x000000d4a2d9c000 | 0x0fffffff | 0x000000d4b2d9ffff | -0x00004000
The pattern of errors in CNTV_TVAL seemed to depend on exactly which
value was written to it. For example, after writing 0x10101010:
CNTVCT | CNTV_TVAL | CNTV_CVAL | CNTV_TVAL Error
--------------------+------------+--------------------+-----------------
0x000001ac3effffff | 0x1110100f | 0x000001ac4f10100f | +0x1000000
0x000001ac40000000 | 0x1010100f | 0x000001ac5110100f | -0x1000000
0x000001ac58ffffff | 0x1110100f | 0x000001ac6910100f | +0x1000000
0x000001ac66000000 | 0x1010100f | 0x000001ac7710100f | -0x1000000
0x000001ac6affffff | 0x1110100f | 0x000001ac7b10100f | +0x1000000
0x000001ac6e000000 | 0x1010100f | 0x000001ac7f10100f | -0x1000000
I was also twice able to reproduce the issue covered by Allwinner's
workaround[4], that writing to TVAL sometimes fails, and both CVAL and
TVAL are left with entirely bogus values. One was the following values:
CNTVCT | CNTV_TVAL | CNTV_CVAL
--------------------+------------+--------------------------------------
0x000000d4a2d6014c | 0x8fbd5721 | 0x000000d132935fff (615s in the past)
Reviewed-by: Marc Zyngier <marc.zyngier@arm.com>
========================================================================
Because the CPU can read the CNTPCT/CNTVCT registers faster than they
change, performing two reads of the register and comparing the high bits
(like other workarounds) is not a workable solution. And because the
timer can jump both forward and backward, no pair of reads can
distinguish a good value from a bad one. The only way to guarantee a
good value from consecutive reads would be to read _three_ times, and
take the middle value only if the three values are 1) each unique and
2) increasing. This takes at minimum 3 counter cycles (125 ns), or more
if an anomaly is detected.
However, since there is a distinct pattern to the bad values, we can
optimize the common case (1022/1024 of the time) to a single read by
simply ignoring values that match the error pattern. This still takes no
more than 3 cycles in the worst case, and requires much less code. As an
additional safety check, we still limit the loop iteration to the number
of max-frequency (1.2 GHz) CPU cycles in three 24 MHz counter periods.
For the TVAL registers, the simple solution is to not use them. Instead,
read or write the CVAL and calculate the TVAL value in software.
Although the manufacturer is aware of at least part of the erratum[4],
there is no official name for it. For now, use the kernel-internal name
"UNKNOWN1".

As the IP integration parameters are Channel number and interrupts number,
let's use fsl,irqs-num to represents how many interrupts supported

Note this will break the compatibility of old binding. As the original
fsl,irq-groups was born out of a misunderstanding of the HW config

Add a debugfs attribute that allows sending raw commands to the EC.
This is useful for development and debug but should not be enabled
in a production environment.
To test:
Get the EC firmware build date
First send the request command
> echo 00 f0 38 00 03 00 > raw
Then read the result. "12/21/18" is in the middle of the response
> cat raw
00 31 32 2f 32 31 2f 31 38 00 00 0f 01 00 01 00 .12/21/18.......

This is useful for moving journal thread into cgroup or
for tracing it with ftrace/perf/blktrace.
For now the only way is `pgrep jbd2/$DISK` but this is not reliable:
name may be longer than "comm" limit and any task could mock it.
Attribute shows pid in current pid-namespace or 0 if task is unreachable.

Commit a753bfcfdb ("intel_th: Make the switch allocate its subdevices")
changed the behavior so that the output port devices are created only for
the ports reported by the hardware and their initial state is "unassigned"
until a corresponding output port driver is loaded. Reflect this fact in
the ABI documentation.
