We want to convert mxc_rtc_set_mmss() to use rtc_class_ops's
set_mmss64(), but it uses get_alarm_or_time()/set_alarm_or_time()
internal interfaces which are y2038 unsafe.
So here as a separate patch, it converts these two internal
interfaces of "mxc" to use safe time64_t to make some
preparations.

rtc_class_ops's set_alarm() shouldn't deal with the alarm date,
as this is handled in the rtc core.

Currently the rtc_class_op's set_mmss() function takes a 32-bit
second value (on 32-bit systems), which is problematic for dates
past y2038.
This patch provides a safe version named set_mmss64() using
y2038 safe time64_t.
After this patch, set_mmss() is deprecated and all its users
will be fixed to use set_mmss64(), it can be removed when having
no users.

As part of addressing in-kernel y2038 issues, this patch adds
update_persistent_clock64() and replaces all the call sites of
update_persistent_clock() with this function. This is a __weak
implementation, which simply calls the existing y2038 unsafe
update_persistent_clock().
This allows architecture specific implementations to be
converted independently, and eventually y2038-unsafe
update_persistent_clock() can be removed after all its
architecture specific implementations have been converted to
update_persistent_clock64().

The Moorestown RTC driver implements suspend and resume callbacks and
assigns them to the suspend and resume fields of the device_driver
struct. These callbacks are never actually called by anything though.
Modify the driver to properly use dev_pm_ops so that the suspend and
resume functions are actually executed upon suspend/resume.

Commit df9e26d093 ("rtc: s3c: add support for RTC of Exynos3250 SoC")
added an "rtc_src" DT property to specify the clock used as a source to
the S3C real-time clock.
Not all SoCs needs this so commit eaf3a65908 ("drivers/rtc/rtc-s3c.c:
fix initialization failure without rtc source clock") changed to check
the struct s3c_rtc_data .needs_src_clk to conditionally grab the clock.
But that commit didn't update the data for each IP version so the RTC
broke on the boards that needs a source clock. This is the case of at
least Exynos5250 and Exynos5440 which uses the s3c6410 RTC IP block.
This commit fixes the S3C rtc on the Exynos5250 Snow and Exynos5420
Peach Pit and Pi Chromebooks.

Since timers are registering their handlers with IRQF_NO_SUSPEND, we
should expect being called in suspended state, and properly wake the
system up when this is the case.
Set IRQF_COND_SUSPEND flag when registering the IRQ handler to inform
irq core that it can safely be called while the system is suspended.

The WTSR (Watchdog Timer Software Reset) and SMPL (Sudden Momentary
Power Loss) are never enabled. These are left-overs from board files.
After removing them the driver's shutdown callback is empty so get rid
of it as well.

Fix a conditional statement checking for NULL in both
ds1685_rtc_sysfs_time_regs_show and ds1685_rtc_sysfs_time_regs_store
that was using a logical AND when it should be using a logical OR so
that we fail out of the function properly if the condition ever
evaluates to true.

Apparently the driver was incorrectly changed to reflect the interface

This does the same change that was merged for the other drivers before and
removes the #ifdef, allowing the interrupts to be enabled through the
in-kernel rtc interface independent of the existence of /dev/rtc.

Add additional flag to read in async mode. In this mode the caller will get
reply via registered callback for capture_sample. Callbacks can be registered
using sensor_hub_register_callback function. The usage id parameter of the
capture_sample can be matched with the usage id of the requested attribute.

This adds a driver for the Dallas/Maxim DS1685-family of RTC chips. It
supports the DS1685/DS1687, DS1688/DS1691, DS1689/DS1693, DS17285/DS17287,
DS17485/DS17487, and DS17885/DS17887 RTC chips. These chips are commonly
found in SGI O2 and SGI Octane systems. It was originally derived from a
driver patch submitted by Matthias Fuchs many years ago for use in
EPPC-405-UC modules, which also used these RTCs. In addition to the
time-keeping functions, this RTC also handles the shutdown mechanism of
the O2 and Octane and acts as a partial NVRAM for the boot PROMS in these
systems.
Verified on both an SGI O2 and an SGI Octane.

The new mvebu SoCs come with a new RTC driver. This patch adds the
support for this new IP which is currently found in the Armada 38x
SoCs.
This RTC provides two alarms, but only the first one is used in the
driver. The RTC also allows using periodic interrupts.

Abracon AB-RTCMC-32.768kHz-B5ZE-S3 alarm is only accurate to the minute.
For that reason, UIE mode is currently not supported by the driver. But
the device provides a watchdog timer which can be coupled with the alarm
mechanism to extend support and provide sub-minute alarm capability.
This patch implements that extension. More precisely, it makes use of the
watchdog timer for alarms which are less that four minutes in the future
(with second accuracy) and use standard alarm mechanism for other alarms
(with minute accuracy).

This patch adds support for Abracon AB-RTCMC-32.768kHz-B5ZE-S3
RTC/Calendar module w/ I2C interface.
This support includes RTC time reading and setting, Alarm (1 minute
accuracy) reading and setting, and battery low detection. The device also
supports frequency adjustment and two timers but those features are
currently not implemented in this driver. Due to alarm accuracy
limitation (and current lack of timer support in the driver), UIE mode is
not supported.

After we set the GET_TIME bit, the rtc time can't be read immediately. We
should wait up to 31.25 us, about one cycle of 32khz. Otherwise reading
RTC time will return a old time. If we clear the GET_TIME bit after
setting, the time of i2c transfer is certainly more than 31.25us.

Current in-tree users of ISL12057 RTC chip (NETGEAR ReadyNAS 102, 104 and
2120) do not have the IRQ#2 pin of the chip (associated w/ the Alarm1
mechanism) connected to their SoC, but to a PMIC (TPS65251 FWIW). This
specific hardware configuration allows the NAS to wake up when the alarms
rings.
Recently introduced alarm support for ISL12057 relies on the provision of
an "interrupts" property in system .dts file, which previous three users
will never get. For that reason, alarm support on those devices is not
function. To support this use case, this patch adds a new DT property for
ISL12057 (isil,irq2-can-wakeup-machine) to indicate that the chip is
capable of waking up the device using its IRQ#2 pin (even though it does
not have its IRQ#2 pin connected directly to the SoC).
This specific configuration was tested on a ReadyNAS 102 by setting an
alarm, powering off the device and see it reboot as expected when the
alarm rang w/:

As a side note, the ISL12057 remains in the list of trivial devices,
because the property is not per se required by the device to work but can
help handle system w/ specific requirements. In exchange, the new feature

This patch adds alarm support to Intersil ISL12057 driver. This allows to
configure the chip to generate an interrupt when the alarm matches current
time value. Alarm can be programmed up to one month in the future and is
accurate to the second.
The patch was developed to support two different configurations: systems
w/ and w/o RTC chip IRQ line connected to the main CPU.
The latter is the one found on current 3 kernel users of the chip for
which support was initially developed (Netgear ReadyNAS 102, 104 and 2120
NAS). On those devices, the IRQ#2 pin of the chip is not connected to the
SoC but to a PMIC. This allows setting an alarm, powering off the device
and have it wake up when the alarm rings. To support that configuration
the driver does the following:
1. it has alarm_irq_enable() function returns -ENOTTY when no IRQ
is passed to the driver.
2. it marks the device as a wakeup source in all cases (whether an
IRQ is passed to the driver or not) to have 'wakealarm' sysfs
entry created.
3. it marks the device has not supporting UIE mode when no IRQ is
passed to the driver (see the commmit message of c9f5c7e7a8)
This specific configuration was tested on a ReadyNAS 102 by setting an
alarm, powering off the device and see it reboot as expected when the
alarm rang.
The former configuration was tested on a Netgear ReadyNAS 102 after some
soldering of the IRQ#2 pin of the RTC chip to a MPP line of the SoC (the
one used usually handles the reset button). The test was performed using
a modified .dts file reflecting this change (see below) and rtc-test.c
program available in Documentation/rtc.txt. This test program ran as
expected, which validates alarm supports, including interrupt support.
As a side note, the ISL12057 remains in the list of trivial devices, i.e.
no specific DT binding being added by this patch: i2c core automatically
handles extraction of IRQ line info from .dts file. For instance, if one
wants to reference the interrupt line for the alarm in its .dts file,
adding interrupt and interrupt-parent properties works as expected:

kindly picked up some patches from the linux-efi mailing list while I
was out on annual leave in December.
Perhaps the biggest risk is the get_memory_map() change from Ard, which

so modify to use timespec64 which is y2038-safe, then
replace rtc_time_to_tm() with rtc_time64_to_tm().

Tools like hwclock attempt to enable the RTC update interrupt (UIE) to
maximize the accuracy of the reported time value. The EFI rtc does not
have interrupt capability so this is a pointless exercise to begin with,
but the generic RTC framework ends up issuing a SetWakeupTime() Runtime
Services call before drawing that conclusion on its own.
Instead, we can mark UIE as unsupported at driver probe time. The net
result is the same, but without the spurious SetWakeupTime() call.

Here's the set of driver core patches for 3.19-rc1.
They are dominated by the removal of the .owner field in platform
drivers. They touch a lot of files, but they are "simple" changes, just
removing a line in a structure.
Other than that, a few minor driver core and debugfs changes. There are
some ath9k patches coming in through this tree that have been acked by
the wireless maintainers as they relied on the debugfs changes.
Everything has been in linux-next for a while.

Commit 7654e9d4fd ("drivers/rtc/rtc-snvs: fix suspend/resume")
replaces SIMPLE_DEV_PM_OPS with direct declaration of snvs_rtc_pm_ops,
but does so outside #ifdef CONFIG_PM_SLEEP. This causes the driver
build to fail if CONFIG_PM_SLEEP is not configured.

Some nice cleanups like removing bootmem, and removal of __get_cpu_var().
There is one patch to mm/gup.c. This is the generic GUP implementation, but is
only used by us and arm(64). We have an ack from Steve Capper, and although we
didn't get an ack from Andrew he told us to take the patch through the powerpc
tree.
There's one cxl patch. This is in drivers/misc, but Greg said he was happy for
us to manage fixes for it.
There is an infrastructure patch to support an IPMI driver for OPAL. That patch
also appears in Corey Minyard's IPMI tree, you may see a conflict there.
There is also an RTC driver for OPAL. We weren't able to get any response from
the RTC maintainer, Alessandro Zummo, so in the end we just merged the driver.

rtc_timer_do_work() only judges -ETIME failure of__rtc_set_alarm(), but
doesn't handle other failures like -EIO, -EBUSY, etc.
If there is a failure other than -ETIME, the next rtc_timer will stay in
the timerqueue. Then later rtc_timers will be enqueued directly because
they have a later expires time, so the alarm irq will never be programmed.
When such failures happen, this patch will retry __rtc_set_alarm(), if
still can't program the alarm time, it will remove current rtc_timer from
timerqueue and fetch next one, thus preventing it from affecting other rtc
timers.

Currently, ab8500 doesn't set uie_unsupported of rtc_device, while it
doesn't support UIE, see ab8500_rtc_set_alarm().
Thus, when going through rtc_update_irq_enable()->rtc_timer_enqueue(),
there's a chance it has an alarm timer1 queued before which is going to
fired, so this update timer2 will be queued because it isn't the leftmost
one, which means rtc_timer_enqueue() will return 0.
This will result in two problems:
1) UIE EMUL will not be used.
2) When the alarm timer1 is fired, in rtc_timer_do_work() timer2 will
fail to set the alarm time, so this rtc will disfunctional due to
timer2 with the earliest expires in the timerqueue.
So, rtc drivers must set this flag if they don't support UIE.

The alarm interrupt handler also reads registers which are part of SNVS
and need clocks enabled. However, the resume function is called after
IRQ's have been enabled, hence this leads to a abort:

Add clock enable and disable support for the SNVS peripheral, which is
required for using the RTC within the SNVS block.
The clock is not strictly enforced, as this would break the i.MX devices.
The clocking for the i.MX devices seems to be enabled elsewhere and
enabling RTC SNVS for Vybrid results in a crash. This patch adds the
clock support but also makes it optional so Vybrid platform can use the
clock if defined while making sure not to break i.MX.

Drop the vendor-prefix from the "ti,system-power-controller" device-tree
property name.
It has been agreed to make "system-power-controller" a standard property
and to drop the vendor-prefix that is currently used by several drivers.
Note that drivers that have used "<vendor>,system-power-controller" in a
released kernel will need to support both versions.

As suggested by Uwe, instead of clearing oscillator failure bit
unconditionally at driver load, this patch adds proper handling of the
flag. The driver now returns -ENODATA when reading time from the device
and oscillator failure bit is set. The flag is now cleared only when the
a new time value is pushed to the device.

The month register of ISL12057 RTC chip includes a century bit which
reports overflow of year register from 99 to 0. This bit can also be
written, which allows using it to extend the time interval the chip can
support from 99 to 199 years.
This patch adds support for century overflow bit in tm to regs and regs to
tm helpers in ISL12057 driver.
This was tested by putting a device 100 years in the future (using a
specific kernel due to the inability of userland tools such as date or
hwclock to pass year 2038), rebooting on a kernel w/ this patch applied
and verifying the device was still 100 years in the future.

When Intersil ISL12057 support was added by commit 70e123373c ("rtc: Add
support for Intersil ISL12057 I2C RTC chip"), two masks for time registers
values imported from the device were either wrong or omitted, leading to
additional bits from those registers to impact read values:
- mask for hour register value when reading it in AM/PM mode. As
AM/PM mode is not the usual mode used by the driver, this error
would only have an impact on an externally configured RTC hour
later read by the driver.
- mask for month value. The lack of masking would provide an
erroneous value if century bit is set.
This patch fixes those two masks.

MCP7940x is same RTC as MCP7941x. The difference is that MCP7941x chips
contain additional EEPROM on a different i2c address.
DS1307 driver already supports MCP7941x, so just add a new i2c device id
and rename functions and defines accordingly.

In case the card is woken up of the rtc alarm, the
devm_rtc_device_register function detects it as a pending alarm about a
month in the future. Fix this by clearing the alarm in module probe.

Add new property "ti,system-power-controller" to register the RTC as a
power-off handler.
Some RTC IP revisions can control an external PMIC via the pmic_power_en
pin, which can be configured to transition to OFF on ALARM2 events and
back to ON on subsequent ALARM (wakealarm) events.
This is based on earlier work by Colin Foe-Parker and AnilKumar Ch. [1]

Some legacy RTC IP revisions has a power-up reset flag in the status
register that later revisions lack.
As this flag is always read back as set on later revisions (or is
overloaded with a different flag), make sure to only clear the flag and
print the info message on legacy platforms.

Make sure not to register the class device until after the device has
been configured.
Currently, the device is not fully configured (e.g. 24-hour mode) when
the class device is registered, something which involves driver
callbacks for example to read the current time.

The platform device must be registered as wakeup capable before
registering the class device, or the wakealarm attribute will not be
created.
Also make sure to unregister the wakeup source on probe errors.

This series fixes a few issues with the omap rtc-driver, cleans up a
bit, adds device abstraction, and finally adds support for the PMIC
control feature found in some revisions of this RTC IP block.
Ultimately, this allows for powering off the Beaglebone and waking it up
again on RTC alarms.
This patch (of 20):
Make sure not to reset the clock-source configuration when enabling the
32kHz clock mux.
Until the clock source can be configured through device tree we must not
overwrite settings made by the bootloader (e.g. clock-source
selection).

Some rtc devices always return '0' when rtc_class_ops.read_time is
called. So if rtc_time isn't verified in callback, rtc interface cannot
know whether rtc_time is valid.
Check rtc_time by using 'rtc_valid_tm' in '__rtc_read_time'. And add
the message for debugging.

Move rtc register to be later than hardware initialization. The reason
is that devm_rtc_device_register() will do read_time() which is a
callback accessing hardware. This sometimes causes a hang in the
hardware related callback.

As part of addressing "y2038 problem" for in-kernel uses, this patch
adds safe rtc_tm_to_time64()/rtc_time64_to_tm() respectively using
time64_t.
After this patch, rtc_tm_to_time() is deprecated and all its call
sites will be fixed using corresponding safe versions, it can be
removed when having no users. Also change rtc_tm_to_time64() to
return time64_t directly instead of just as a parameter like
rtc_tm_to_time() does.
After this patch, rtc_time_to_tm() is deprecated and all its call
sites will be fixed using corresponding safe versions, it can be
removed when having no users.
In addition, change rtc_tm_to_ktime() and rtc_ktime_to_tm() to use
the safe version in passing.

The patch implements the OPAL rtc driver that binds with the rtc
driver subsystem. The driver uses the platform device infrastructure
to probe the rtc device and register it to rtc class framework. The
'wakeup' is supported depending upon the property 'has-tpo' present
in the OF node. It provides a way to load the generic rtc driver in
in the absence of an OPAL driver.
The patch also moves the existing OPAL rtc get/set time interfaces to the
new driver and exposes the necessary OPAL calls using EXPORT_SYMBOL_GPL.

The RTT block is using the slow clock which is accessible through the clk
API.
Use the clk API to retrieve, enable and get the slow clk rate instead of
the AT91_SLOW_CLOCK macro (which hardcodes the slow clk rate).
Doing this allows us to reference the clk thus preventing the CCF from
disabling it during the "disable unused" phase.

The GPBR registers are not part of the RTT block and thus should not be
defined in the reg property of the rtt node.
Use syscon to provide a proper DT representation and reference the GPBR
syscon device in a new "atmel,rtt-rtc-time-reg" property which store both
the syscon device phandle and the register offset within the GPBR block.
When using non DT boards, we won't be able to retrieve the syscon regmap,
hence we need to create our own regmap using the memory region defined
in the 2nd memory resource assigned to the RTT platform device.

Raw versions of writel and writel should not be directly used and should
be replaced by their relaxed versions (readl/writel_relaxed), which take
endianness conversion into account.
In this driver we prefer the standard readl/writel function which add the
appropriate memory barrier around the access (the performance penalty is
negligible for this kind of application).

As there is currently no-one to take care of this old !MMU target and as its
support in recent kernels is a bit rotten, remove this at91x40 support and the
board file associated with it (at91eb01).
There are modern ARM !MMU in Mainline now so this target is not interesting for
building tests anymore. It would be better to start from these modern ARM !MMU
platforms to reintroduce at91x40 support if needed.

Adds support for RTC device inside PM8941 PMIC. The RTC in this PMIC
have two register spaces. Thus the rtc-pm8xxx is slightly reworked to
reflect these differences.
The register set for different PMIC chips are selected on DT compatible
string base.

Commit b5ada4600d ("drivers/rtc/rtc-cmos.c: fix compilation warning
when !CONFIG_PM_SLEEP") broke wakeup from S5 by making cmos_poweroff a
nop unless CONFIG_PM_SLEEP was defined.
Fix this by restricting the #ifdef to cmos_resume and restoring the old
dependency on CONFIG_PM for cmos_suspend and cmos_poweroff.

As pointed out by Sergei Shtylyov, the pcf8563_irq function contains a
bug in the error handling: an interrupt handler is not supposed to
return an errno value but an 'enum irqreturn'.
Let's fix this by returning IRQ_NONE in case of a communication error.

gcc-4.9 found a potential condition under which the 'pending' variable
may be used uninitialized:

drivers/rtc/rtc-pcf8563.c:173:5: warning: 'pending' may be used uninitialized in this function [-Wmaybe-uninitialized]
This is because in the pcf8563_get_alarm_mode() function, we check any
nonzero return of pcf8563_read_block_data, but in the irq function we
only check for negative values, so a possible positive value does not
get detected if the compiler chooses not to inline the entire call
chain.
Checking for any non-zero value in the interrupt handler as well is just
as correct and lets the compiler know what we are doing, without needing
a bogus initialization.

The MAX7802 PMIC has a Real-Time-Clock (RTC) with two alarms. This
patch adds support for the RTC and is based on a driver added by Simon
Glass to the Chrome OS kernel 3.8 tree.

max77686_rtc_calculate_wday() is used to calculate the day of the week
to be filled in struct rtc_time but that function only calculates the
number of bits shifted. So the ffs() function can be used to find the
first bit set instead of a special function.

The max77686 mfd driver adds a regmap IRQ chip which creates an IRQ
domain that is used to map the virtual RTC alarm1 interrupt.
The RTC driver assumes that this will always be true since the PMIC IRQ
is a required property according to the max77686 DT binding doc. If an
"interrupts" property is not defined for a max77686 PMIC, then the mfd
probe function will fail and the RTC platform driver will never be
probed.
But even when it is not possible to probe the rtc-max77686 driver
without a regmap IRQ chip, it's better to explicitly check if the IRQ
chip data is not NULL and gracefully fail instead of getting an OOPS.

The MAX77686 RTC chip has two features called SMPL (Sudden Momentary
Power Loss) and WTSR (Watchdog Timeout and Software Resets). Support
for these features seems to be implemented in the driver but compilation
is disabled using a C pre-processor conditional.
This code has been disabled since the driver was original merged in
commit fca1dd031a ("rtc: max77686: add Maxim 77686 driver").
So, since this code has never been built, let's just remove it.

This series add support for the Real Time clock present in the Maxim 77802
Power Managment IC. The version number is quite high because it
previously was part of a bigger series [0] that aimed to add support for
all the devices in the max77802 PMIC. But now that the max77802
dependencies were already merged for 3.17, the series were split but I
kept the version numbering.
While working on the max77802 rtc support a lot of feedback was given and
the issues pointed out also apply to a driver for a similar PMIC RTC
(max77686). So patches 01/06 to 05/06 in the series are cleanups for the
max77686 driver and patch 06/06 adds the support for the max77802 RTC.
The series were tested on an Exynos5250 Snow (max77686) and
Exynos5420 Peach Pit (max77802) machines.
This patch (of 6):
The max77686 includes an RTC that keeps power during suspend. It's
convenient to be able to use it as a wakeup source.

BQ32000 devices have "trickle chargers". Introduce a code to enable the
charger, based on device tree.
Without charger, RTC does not keep time after power off.

Some DS13XX devices have "trickle chargers". Introduce a device tree
binding for specifying the trickle charger configuration for ds1339.
Only ds1339 dt binding is supported because this is the only chip I have.
I _assume_ the code would have worked on other allready supported chips.
However I cannot check the resistor values for the other chips or test
them. For other chips the driver code works as earlier Eg. it does not
check the dt bindings at all

of_device_ids (i.e. compatible strings and the respective data) are not
supposed to change at runtime. All functions working with of_device_ids
provided by <linux/of.h> work with const of_device_ids. This allows to
mark all struct of_device_id below drivers/rtc const, too.

Add support for RTC of Exynos3250 SoC. The Exynos3250 needs source
clock(32.768KHz) for RTC block. If source clock of RTC is registerd on
clock list of common clk framework, Exynos RTC drvier have to control
this clock.
Clock list for s3c-rtc device:
- rtc : CLK_RTC of CLK_GATE_IP_PERIR is gate clock for RTC.
- rtc_src : XrtcXTI is 32.768.kHz source clock for RTC.
(XRTCXTI: Specifies a clock from 32.768 kHz crystal pad with XRTCXTI and
XRTCXTO pins. RTC uses this clock as the source of a real-time clock.)

commit da167ad763 ("rtc: ia64: allow other architectures to use EFI
RTC") inadvertently introduced a regression for x86 because we've been
careful not to enable the EFI rtc driver due to the generally buggy
implementations of the time-related EFI runtime services.
In fact, since the above commit was merged we've seen reports of crashes
on 32-bit tablets,

Disable it explicitly for x86 so that we don't give users false hope
that this driver will work - it won't, and your machine is likely to
crash.

When the rtc-efi driver is built as a module, we already register the
EFI rtc as a platform device if UEFI Runtime Services are enabled.
To wire it up to udev, and let the module be loaded automatically, we
need to export the 'platform:rtc-efi' alias from the module.

This patch introduces the driver for the RTC in the Allwinner A31 and
A23 SoCs.
Unlike the RTC found in A10/A20 SoCs, which was part of the timer, the
RTC in A31/A23 are a separate hardware block, which also contain a few
controls for the RTC block hardware (a regulator and RTC block GPIO pin
latches), while also having separate interrupts for the alarms.
The hardware is different enough to make a different driver for it.

The interrupt handler gets the driver data associated with the RTC
device and doesn't check it for validity. This can cause a NULL pointer
being dereferenced when and interrupt fires before the driver data was
properly set up.
Fix this by setting the driver data earlier (before the interrupt is
requested).

In rtc_suspend() and rtc_resume(), the error after rtc_read_time() is not
checked. If rtc device fail to read time, we cannot guarantee the
following process.
Add the verification code for returned rtc_read_time() error.

Add support for configuring the ISL12022 real-time clock via the Device
tree framework. This is based on what I've seen in the related ISL12057
driver, it has been tested and works on a Technologic Systems TS-7670

Currently, the rtc-efi driver is restricted to ia64 only. Newer
architectures with EFI support may want to also use that driver. This
patch moves the platform device setup from ia64 into drivers/rtc and
allow any architecture with CONFIG_EFI=y to use the rtc-efi driver.

In particular seeing zero in eft->month is problematic, as it results in
-1 (converted to unsigned int, i.e. yielding 0xffffffff) getting passed
to rtc_year_days(), where the value gets used as an array index
(normally resulting in a crash). This was observed with the driver
enabled on x86 on some Fujitsu system (with possibly not up to date
firmware, but anyway).
Perhaps efi_read_alarm() should not fail if neither enabled nor pending
are set, but the returned time is invalid?

Commit 5516f09717 ("drivers/rtc/rtc-ds1742.c: remove redundant
of_match_ptr() helper") has description as: "'ds1742_rtc_of_match' is
always compiled in. Hence the helper macro is not needed".
It is not true, of_match_ptr() macro makes of_device_id parameter unused
and this constant is declared with __maybe_unused attribute, so normally
this variable should be discarded by linker. This patch revers this
commit, since there are no reason to compile of_device_id constant for
non-DT systems.

The rtc-moxart driver is only useful on MOXA ART systems so it should
depend on ARCH_MOXART as all other MOXA ART drivers already do. Add
COMPILE_TEST as an alternative to allow for build testing on other
systems.

This patch changes all absolute SYS_XY registers to offsets from the
SYS block base, prefixes them with AU1000 to avoid silent failures due
to changed addresses, and introduces helper functions to read/write
them.
No functional changes, comparing assembly of a few select functions shows
no differences.

Add register definitions for DA9063 AD (0x3) silicon variant ID
the ability to choose the silicon variant at run-time using regmap
configuration. This patch also adds RTC support for the AD silicon
changes.
It adds both BB and AD support as regmap ranges and then makes the
distinction between the two tables at run-time. This allows both AD
and BB silicon variants to be supported at the same time.

In probe the configuration of driver for different chipsets was done in
two switch (pdata->device_type) statements. Consolidate them into one
switch statement to increase code readability.
Additionally check the return value of regmap_irq_get_virq and exit
probe on error.

Remove the code for initializing time if this is first boot.
The code for detecting first boot uses undocumented field RTC_TCON in
RTC_UDR_CON register. According to S5M8767's datasheet this field is
reserved. On S2MPS14 it is not documented at all.
On device first boot the registers will be initialized with reset value
(2000-01-01 00:00:00).
The code might work on S5M8763 but still this does not look like a task
for RTC driver.

When RTC CLKTRCTRL bit is configured in HW_AUTO, module goes to sleep in
IDLE state.
The Alarm SWakeup event can be used to wakeup the RTC when it is in IDLE
state. In order to do so, the alarm needs to be set and enabled before
RTC enters the IDLE state. Also the wakeup generation for alarm/timer
event needs to be set (bits [1:0] in RTC_IRQWAKEEN register).
Currently RTC_IRQWAKEEN bits are set only in suspend/resume paths. With
this ALARM interrupts are not generated when it enters IDLE state. So
programming the RTC_IRQWAKEEN bits when ever ALARM is set.

The rtc user must wait at least 1 sec between each time/calandar update
(see atmel's datasheet chapter "Updating Time/Calendar").
Use the 1Hz interrupt to update the at91_rtc_upd_rdy flag and wait for
the at91_rtc_wait_upd_rdy event if the rtc is not ready.
This patch fixes a deadlock in an uninterruptible wait when the RTC is
updated more than once every second. AFAICT the bug is here from the
beginning, but I think we should at least backport this fix to 3.10 and
the following longterm and stable releases.

The RTC framework does not let you return an error once a call to
devm_rtc_device_register has succeeded. Avoid doing that when the IRQ
request fails as we can still support reading/writing the clock without
the IRQ.

Newer versions of OMAP RTC IP such as those found in AM335x and DRA7x
need an explicit enable of 32khz functional clock which ticks the RTC.
AM335x support was working so far because of settings done in U-Boot.
However, the DRA7x U-Boot does no such enable of 32khz clock and this
patch is need to get the RTC to work on DRA7x at least. In general, it
is better to not depend on settings done in U-Boot.

Remove multiple superfluous device id checks. Since an id_table is
present in the driver probe() should never encounter an empty device id
entry. In case of OF style match, of_match_device() returns an matching
entry.
For paranoia sake, check for device id entry once and fail probe() if none
is found. This is much better than checking for it multiple times.

Setting the alarm to a time not on a minute boundary results in repeated
interrupts being generated by the DA9052/3 PMIC device until the kernel
RTC core sees that the alarm has rung. Sometimes the number and frequency
of interrupts can cause the kernel to disable the IRQ line used by the
DA9052/3 PMIC with disasterous consequences. This patch fixes the
problem.
Even though the DA9052/3 PMIC is capable generating periodic interrupts,
ie TICKS, the method used to distinguish RTC_AF from RTC_PF events was
flawed and can not work in conjunction with the regmap_irq kernel core.
Thus that flawed detection has also been removed by the DA9052/3 PMIC RTC
driver's irq handler, so that it no longer reports the wrong type of event
to the kernel RTC core.
The internal static functions within the DA9052/3 PMIC RTC driver have
been changed to pass the 'da9052_rtc' structure instead of the 'da9052'
because there is no backwards pointer from the 'da9052' structure.
This patch fixes the three issues described above. The first is serious
because usiing the RTC alarm set to a non minute boundary will eventually
cause all component drivers that depend on the interrupt line to fail.
The solution adopted is to round up to alarm time to the next highest
minute.
The second bug, reporting a RTC_PF event instead of an RTC_AF event turns
out to not matter with the current implementation of the kernel RTC core
as it seems to ignore the event type. However, should that change in the
future it is better to fix the issue now and not have 'problems waiting to
happen'
The third set of changes are to make the da9052_rtc structure available to
all the local internal functions in the driver. This was done during
testing so that diagnostic data could be stored there. Should the
solution to the first issue be found not acceptable, then the alternative
of using the TICKS interrupt at the fixed one second interval in order to
step to the exact second of the requested alarm requires an extra (alarm
time) piece of data to be stored. In devices that use the alarm function
to wake up from sleep, accuracy to the second will result in the device
being awake for up to nearly a minute longer than expected.

This brings in drivers/char/rtc.c functionality required for DECstation
and, should the maintainers decide to switch, Alpha systems to use
rtc-cmos.
Specifically these features are made available:
* RTC iomem rather than x86/PCI port I/O mapping, controlled with the
RTC_IOMAPPED macro as with the original driver. The DS1287A chip in all
DECstation systems is mapped in the host bus address space as a
contiguous block of 64 32-bit words of which the least significant byte
accesses the RTC chip for both reads and writes. All the address and
data window register accesses are made transparently by the chipset glue
logic so that the device appears directly mapped on the host bus.
* A way to set the size of the address space explicitly with the
newly-added `address_space' member of the platform part of the RTC
device structure. This avoids the unreliable heuristics that does not
work in a setup where the RTC is not explicitly accessed with the usual
address and data window register pair.
* The ability to use the RTC periodic interrupt as a system clock
device, which is implemented by arch/mips/kernel/cevt-ds1287.c for
DECstation systems and takes the RTC interrupt away from the RTC driver.
Eventually hooking back to the clock device's interrupt handler should
be possible for the purpose of the alarm clock and possibly also
update-in-progress interrupt, but this is not done by this change.
o To avoid interfering with the clock interrupt all the places where
the RTC interrupt mask is fiddled with are only executed if and IRQ
has been assigned to the RTC driver.
o To avoid changing the clock setup Register A is not fiddled with
if CMOS_RTC_FLAGS_NOFREQ is set in the newly-added `flags' member of
the platform part of the RTC device structure. Originally, in
drivers/char/rtc.c, this was keyed with the absence of the RTC
interrupt, just like the interrupt mask, but there only the periodic
interrupt frequency is set, whereas rtc-cmos also sets the divider
bits. Therefore a new flag is introduced so that systems where the
RTC interrupt is not usable rather than used as a system clock device
can fully initialise the RTC.
* A small clean-up is made to the IRQ assignment code that makes the IRQ
number hardcoded to -1 rather than arbitrary -ENXIO (or whatever error
happens to be returned by platform_get_irq) where no IRQ has been
assigned to the RTC driver (NO_IRQ might be another candidate, but it
looks like this macro has inconsistent or missing definitions and
limited use and might therefore be unsafe).
Verified to work correctly with a DECstation 5000/240 system.

Compared source code of rtc-lib.c::rtc_year_days() with
efirtc.c::rtc_year_days(), found the code in rtc-efi decreases value of
day twice when it computing year days. rtc-lib.c::rtc_year_days() has
already decrease days and return the year days from 0 to 365.

In __rtc_read_alarm(), if the alarm time retrieved by
rtc_read_alarm_internal() from the device contains invalid values (e.g.
month=2,mday=31) and the year not set (=-1), the initialization will
loop infinitely because the year-fixing loop expects the time being
invalid due to leap year.
Fix reduces the loop to the leap years and adds final validity check.

The rtc-s5m driver does not support all of S2M and S5M chipsets
supported by main MFD sec-core driver. For such chipsets unsupported by
rtc-s5m, the MFD sec-core driver initialized regmap with default config.
This config in such cases wouldn't work at all.
The main MFD sec-core driver shouldn't initialize regmap for child
drivers which is not used by them and even not valid.
Move the allocation of RTC I2C dummy device and initialization of RTC

The alarm of the hym8563 only supports a minute accuracy, while the uie
wants an alarm one second in the future. Therefore things like the
select() syscall will fail with a timeout, because the next alarm will
happen in a worst case of 60 seconds.

The patch "rtc: verify a critical argument to rtc_update_irq() before
using it" introduces validation for rtc_device in the RTC core, so there
are no need to check this argument for rtc_update_irq() from the
drivers.
This patch removes such check for the existing rtc_update_irq() users.

NO_IRQ may be defined as '(unsigned int) -1' in some architectures (arm,
sh ...), and either may not be defined in some architectures (arm64) which
can enable RTC_DRV_S3C.
Also since platform_get_irq returns err-code in case of any error, we do
not need to intialize s3c_rtc_alarmno and s3c_rtc_tickno.

Using platform_get_irq_byname() to retrieve the IRQ number returns the
VIRQ number rather than the local IRQ number for the device. Passing that
value then into regmap_irq_get_virq() causes a failure because the
function is expecting the local IRQ number (e.g. 0, 1, 2, 3, etc).
This patch removes use of regmap_irq_get_virq() to prevent this failure
from happening

CONFIG_PM will be set also if only CONFIG_PM_RUNTIME is set which causes
the compiler to emit following warning:

operation until the values of day matched between reading the seconds,

Datasheet says: "When the VSRTC voltage drops to the range of 0.9 - 0.8V,
the RTCPORB reset signal is generated and the contents of the RTC will
be reset. <skip>. To inform the processor that the contents of the RTC
are no longer valid due to the reset, a timer reset interrupt function
is implemented with the RTCRSTI bit." This patch makes the RTC valid by
default until RTCRST interrupt occurs.

Use devm_ioremap_resource() in order to make the code simpler, and
remove redundant return value check of platform_get_resource() because
the value is checked by devm_ioremap_resource().
