The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language
extension to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare
variable-length types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2],
introduced in C99:
struct foo {
int stuff;
struct boo array[];
};
By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning
in case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which
will help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being
inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on.
Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by
this change:
"Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator
may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of
zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1]

This test is specific for arm64. When in-kernel Pointer Authentication
config is enabled, the return address stored in the stack is signed.
This feature helps in ROP kind of attack. If any parameters used to
generate the pac (<key, sp, lr>) is modified then this will fail in
the authentication stage and will lead to abort.
This test changes the input parameter APIA kernel keys to cause abort.
The pac computed from the new key can be same as last due to hash
collision so this is retried for few times as there is no reliable way
to compare the pacs. Even though this test may fail even after retries
but this may cause authentication failure at a later stage in earlier
function returns.
This test can be invoked as,
echo CORRUPT_PAC > /sys/kernel/debug/provoke-crash/DIRECT

The at24 driver attempts to read a byte from the device to validate that
it's actually present, and if not, disables the vcc regulator and
returns -ENODEV. However, between the read and the error handling path,
pm_runtime_idle() is called and invokes the driver's suspend callback,
which also disables the vcc regulator. This leads to an underflow of the
regulator enable count if the EEPROM is not present.
Move the pm_runtime_suspend() call to be after the error handling path
to resolve this.

When uacce parent device module is removed, user app may
still keep the mmaped area, which can be accessed unsafely.
When rmmod, Parent device driver will call uacce_remove,
which unmap all remaining mapping from user space for safety.
VM_FAULT_SIGBUS is also reported to user space accordingly.

altera_get_note is called from altera_init, where key is kzalloc(33).
When the allocation functions are annotated to allow the compiler to see
the sizes of objects, and with FORTIFY_SOURCE, we see:
In file included from drivers/misc/altera-stapl/altera.c:14:0:
In function ‘strlcpy’,
inlined from ‘altera_init’ at drivers/misc/altera-stapl/altera.c:2189:5:
include/linux/string.h:378:4: error: call to ‘__write_overflow’ declared with attribute error: detected write beyond size of object passed as 1st parameter
__write_overflow();
^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That refers to this code in altera_get_note:
if (key != NULL)
strlcpy(key, &p[note_strings +
get_unaligned_be32(
&p[note_table + (8 * i)])],
length);
The error triggers because the length of 'key' is 33, but the copy
uses length supplied as the 'length' parameter, which is always
256. Split the size parameter into key_len and val_len, and use the
appropriate length depending on what is being copied.
Detected by compiler error, only compile-tested.

Uacce (Unified/User-space-access-intended Accelerator Framework) targets to
provide Shared Virtual Addressing (SVA) between accelerators and processes.
So accelerator can access any data structure of the main cpu.
This differs from the data sharing between cpu and io device, which share
only data content rather than address.
Since unified address, hardware and user space of process can share the
same virtual address in the communication.
Uacce create a chrdev for every registration, the queue is allocated to
the process when the chrdev is opened. Then the process can access the
hardware resource by interact with the queue file. By mmap the queue
file space to user space, the process can directly put requests to the
hardware without syscall to the kernel space.
The IOMMU core only tracks mm<->device bonds at the moment, because it
only needs to handle IOTLB invalidation and PASID table entries. However
uacce needs a finer granularity since multiple queues from the same
device can be bound to an mm. When the mm exits, all bound queues must
be stopped so that the IOMMU can safely clear the PASID table entry and
reallocate the PASID.
An intermediate struct uacce_mm links uacce devices and queues.
Note that an mm may be bound to multiple devices but an uacce_mm
structure only ever belongs to a single device, because we don't need
anything more complex (if multiple devices are bound to one mm, then
we'll create one uacce_mm for each bond).

The MEI message header provides only 9 bits for storing
the message size, limiting to 511.
In theory the host buffer (hbuf) can contain up to 1020 bytes
(limited by byte = 255 * 4)
With the current hardware and hbuf size 512, this is not a real issue,
but as hardening approach we enforce the limit.

During device memory memset, the driver allocates and use a CB (command
buffer). To reuse existing code, it keeps a pointer to the CB in two
variables, user_cb and patched_cb. Therefore, there is no need to "put"
both the user_cb and patched_cb, as it will cause an underflow of the
refcnt of the CB.

enclosures, which fixes replugging a device into an enclosure slot and
one in the disk driver which fixes revalidating a drive with

we were still remembering the old PI state. Both fixed issues are

The second arg of xsdfec_set_order() is a 'void __user *'
and this pointer is then used in get_user() which expect
a __user pointer.
But get_user() can't be used with a void pointer, it a
pointer to the effective type. This is done here by casting
the argument to a pointer to the effective type but the
__user is missing in the cast.
Fix this by adding the missing __user in the cast.

Some users prefer kdump tools to generate guest kernel dumpfile,
at the same time, need a out-of-band kernel panic event.
Currently if booting guest kernel with 'crash_kexec_post_notifiers',
QEMU will receive PVPANIC_PANICKED event and stop VM. If booting
guest kernel without 'crash_kexec_post_notifiers', guest will not
call notifier chain.
Add PVPANIC_CRASH_LOADED bit for pvpanic event, it means that guest
kernel actually hit a kernel panic, but the guest kernel wants to
handle by itself.

Right now several architectures allow their set_memory_*() family of
functions to fail, but callers may not be checking the return values.
If set_memory_*() returns with an error, call-site assumptions may be
infact wrong to assume that it would either succeed or not succeed at
all. Ideally, the failure of set_memory_*() should be passed up the call
stack, and callers should examine the failure and deal with it.
Need to fix the callers and add the __must_check attribute. They also
may not provide any level of atomicity, in the sense that the memory
protections may be left incomplete on failure. This issue likely has a
few steps on effects architectures:
1) Have all callers of set_memory_*() helpers check the return value.
2) Add __must_check to all set_memory_*() helpers so that new uses do
not ignore the return value.
3) Add atomicity to the calls so that the memory protections aren't
left in a partial state.
This series is part of step 1. Make sram driver check the return value
of set_memory_*().

Doing an add/remove/add on a SCSI device in an enclosure leads to an oops
caused by poisoned values in the enclosure device list pointers. The
reason is because we are keeping the enclosure device across the enclosed
device add/remove/add but the current code is doing a
device_add/device_del/device_add on it. This is the wrong thing to do in
sysfs, so fix it by not doing a device_del on the enclosure device simply
because of a hot remove of the drive in the slot.

Two weeks worth of accumulated fixes.
A fix for a performance regression seen on PowerVM LPARs using dedicated CPUs,
caused by our vcpu_is_preempted() returning true even for idle CPUs.
One of the ultravisor support patches broke KVM on big endian hosts in v5.4.
Our KUAP (Kernel User Access Prevention) code missed allowing access in
__clear_user(), which could lead to an oops or erroneous SEGV when triggered via
PTRACE_GETREGSET.
Two fixes for the ocxl driver, an open/remove race, and a memory leak in an

check the return value and instead use the error return value as a valid
sequence number of a CS and ask to wait on it, the driver will print an

The real problem happens if now the user ignores the error of the wait, and
try to wait again and again. This can lead to a flood of error messages

If an ocxl device is unbound through sysfs at the same time its AFU is
being opened by a user process, the open code may dereference freed
stuctures, which can lead to kernel oops messages. You'd have to hit a
tiny time window, but it's possible. It's fairly easy to test by
making the time window bigger artificially.
Fix it with a combination of 2 changes:
- when an AFU device is found in the IDR by looking for the device
minor number, we should hold a reference on the device until after
the context is allocated. A reference on the AFU structure is kept
when the context is allocated, so we can release the reference on
the device after the context allocation.
- with the fix above, there's still another even tinier window,
between the time the AFU device is found in the IDR and the
reference on the device is taken. We can fix this one by removing
the IDR entry earlier, when the device setup is removed, instead
of waiting for the 'release' device callback. With proper locking
around the IDR.

Through a labyrinthian sequence of includes, usage of virt_to_phys() is
dependent on the include of asm/io.h in x86's asm/realmode.h, which is
included in x86's asm/acpi.h and thus by linux/acpi.h. Explicitly
include linux/io.h to break the dependency on realmode.h so that a
future patch can remove the realmode.h include from acpi.h without
breaking the build.

As part of the cleanup of some remaining y2038 issues, I came to
fs/compat_ioctl.c, which still has a couple of commands that need support
for time64_t.
In completely unrelated work, I spent time on cleaning up parts of this
file in the past, moving things out into drivers instead.
After Al Viro reviewed an earlier version of this series and did a lot
more of that cleanup, I decided to try to completely eliminate the rest
of it and move it all into drivers.
This series incorporates some of Al's work and many patches of my own,
but in the end stops short of actually removing the last part, which is
the scsi ioctl handlers. I have patches for those as well, but they need
more testing or possibly a rewrite.

Here is the "big" set of driver core patches for 5.5-rc1
There's a few minor cleanups and fixes in here, but the majority of the
patches in here fall into two buckets:
- debugfs api cleanups and fixes
- driver core device link support for boot dependancy issues
The debugfs api cleanups are working to slowly refactor the debugfs apis
so that it is even harder to use incorrectly. That work has been
happening for the past few kernel releases and will continue over time,
it's a long-term project/goal
The driver core device link support missed 5.4 by just a bit, so it's
been sitting and baking for many months now. It's from Saravana Kannan
to help resolve the problems that DT-based systems have at boot time
with dependancy graphs and kernel modules. Turns out that no one has
actually tried to build a generic arm64 kernel with loads of modules and
have it "just work" for a variety of platforms (like a distro kernel)
The big problem turned out to be a lack of depandancy information
between different areas of DT entries, and the work here resolves that
problem and now allows devices to boot properly, and quicker than a
monolith kernel.
All of these patches have been in linux-next for a long time with no
reported issues.

During hard-reset, there can be multiple events received from the H/W. For
each event, the driver opens a worker thread to handle it. For some of the
events, the driver will read/write registers in the code that handles the
event.
In case of hard-reset, we must prevent reads/writes to the registers during
the reset operation because the device might get stuck if that happens.
Therefore, flush the EQ workers before resetting the device (in hard-reset

device names collisions for same client UUID available

In the device part leave just UUID other parameters that are
required for device matching are not required here and are
just bloating the name.

A handful of drivers all have a trivial wrapper around their ioctl
handler, but don't call the compat_ptr() conversion function at the
moment. In practice this does not matter, since none of them are used
on the s390 architecture and for all other architectures, compat_ptr()
does not do anything, but using the new compat_ptr_ioctl()
helper makes it more correct in theory, and simplifies the code.
I checked that all ioctl handlers in these files are compatible
and take either pointer arguments or no argument.

The .ioctl and .compat_ioctl file operations have the same prototype so
they can both point to the same function, which works great almost all
the time when all the commands are compatible.
One exception is the s390 architecture, where a compat pointer is only
31 bit wide, and converting it into a 64-bit pointer requires calling
compat_ptr(). Most drivers here will never run in s390, but since we now
have a generic helper for it, it's easy enough to use it consistently.
I double-checked all these drivers to ensure that all ioctl arguments
are used as pointers or are ignored, but are not interpreted as integer
values.

idiomatic C style to help avoid fencepost errors.

Currently when binding to an spd EEPROM, the at24 drivers logs the
following message:
256 byte spd EEPROM, read-only, 0 bytes/write
The last part is confusing, as by definition you don't write to a
read-only EEPROM, plus "0 bytes/write" makes no sense whatsoever.
I propose to have a different message for read-only EEPROMs, which
does not include this last part.

As has been happening in previous releases, more and more individual
driver subsystem trees are ending up in here. Now if that is good or
bad I can't tell, but hopefully it makes your life easier as it's more
of an aggregation of trees together to one merge point for you.
Anyway, lots of stuff in here:

Pull LED updates from Jacek Anaszewski:
"In this cycle we've finally managed to contribute the patch set
sorting out LED naming issues. Besides that there are many changes
scattered among various LED class drivers and triggers.
LED naming related improvements:
- add new 'function' and 'color' fwnode properties and deprecate
'label' property which has been frequently abused for conveying
vendor specific names that have been available in sysfs anyway
- introduce a set of standard LED_FUNCTION* definitions
- introduce a set of standard LED_COLOR_ID* definitions
- add a new {devm_}led_classdev_register_ext() API with the
capability of automatic LED name composition basing on the
properties available in the passed fwnode; the function is
backwards compatible in a sense that it uses 'label' data, if
present in the fwnode, for creating LED name
- add tools/leds/get_led_device_info.sh script for retrieving LED
vendor, product and bus names, if applicable; it also performs
basic validation of an LED name
- update following drivers and their DT bindings to use the new LED
registration API:
- leds-an30259a, leds-gpio, leds-as3645a, leds-aat1290, leds-cr0014114,
leds-lm3601x, leds-lm3692x, leds-lp8860, leds-lt3593, leds-sc27xx-blt
Other LED class improvements:
- replace {devm_}led_classdev_register() macros with inlines
- allow to call led_classdev_unregister() unconditionally
- switch to use fwnode instead of be stuck with OF one
LED triggers improvements:
- led-triggers:
- fix dereferencing of null pointer
- fix a memory leak bug
- ledtrig-gpio:
- GPIO 0 is valid
Drop superseeded apu2/3 support from leds-apu since for apu2+ a newer,
more complete driver exists, based on a generic driver for the AMD
SOCs gpio-controller, supporting LEDs as well other devices:
- drop profile field from priv data
- drop iosize field from priv data
- drop enum_apu_led_platform_types
- drop superseeded apu2/3 led support
- add pr_fmt prefix for better log output
- fix error message on probing failure
Other misc fixes and improvements to existing LED class drivers:
- leds-ns2, leds-max77650:
- add of_node_put() before return
- leds-pwm, leds-is31fl32xx:
- use struct_size() helper
- leds-lm3697, leds-lm36274, leds-lm3532:

This patch changes the driver to create two char devices for each ASIC
it discovers. This is done to allow system/monitoring applications to
query the device for stats, information, idle state and more, while also
allowing the deep-learning application to send work to the ASIC.
One char device is the original device, hlX. IOCTL calls through this
device file can perform any task on the device (compute, memory, queries).
The open function for this device will fail if it was called before but
the file-descriptor it created was not completely released yet (the
release callback function is not called from the kernel until all
instances of that FD are closed). The driver needs to keep this behavior
to support backward compatibility with existing userspace, which count
that the open will fail if the device is "occupied".
The second char device is called "hl_controlDx", where x is the same index
of the main device with a minor number of the original char device + 1.
Applications that open this device can only call the INFO IOCTL. There is
no limitation on the number of applications opening this device.

its context, not the user context that is currently running on the device.
This has no effect right now as we only have a single process and a single
context, but this makes the code more ready for multiple process support.

This patch calls the kill user process function after we rollback the
in-flight CSs. This is because the user process can't be closed while
there are open CSs. Therefore, there is no point of sending it a SIGKILL
before we do the rollback CS part.

This patch adds a field to the context's structure that will hold a unique
handle for the context.
This will be needed when the user will create the context.

The ability of setting power management properties by the system
administrator (through sysfs properties) is only relevant for the GOYA
ASIC. Therefore, move the relevant sysfs properties to the GOYA sysfs
specific file, to make the properties appear in sysfs only for GOYA cards.

In the driver timeout functions, we give the simulator a factor of 10
in the timeout. This was necessary when the requested timeout is small
but if it was a few seconds, this can result in a very large timeout which
is unnecessary.
This patch caps the maximum timeout of the simulator to 10 seconds, which
is our largest timeout in the code. That is more then enough for anything
the simulator is doing.

When rejecting CS because of too many in-flight CS, print a debug message
about it as it useful to know when the user is debugging (it indicates a
back-pressure from the driver as the device is not fast enough to consume
the CS)

Introduce two options to control the use of the tlbie instruction. A
boot time option which completely disables the kernel using the
instruction, this is currently incompatible with HASH MMU, KVM, and
coherent accelerators.
And a debugfs option can be switched at runtime and avoids using tlbie
for invalidating CPU TLBs for normal process and kernel address
mappings. Coherent accelerators are still managed with tlbie, as will
KVM partition scope translations.
Cross-CPU TLB flushing is implemented with IPIs and tlbiel. This is a
basic implementation which does not attempt to make any optimisation
beyond the tlbie implementation.
This is useful for performance testing among other things. For example
in certain situations on large systems, using IPIs may be faster than
tlbie as they can be directed rather than broadcast. Later we may also
take advantage of the IPIs to do more interesting things such as trim
the mm cpumask more aggressively.

dma buf refcount has to be done by the driver which is going to use the fd.
This driver already does refcount on the dmabuf fd if its actively using it
but also does an additional refcounting via extra ioctl.
This additional refcount can lead to memory leak in cases where the
applications fail to call the ioctl to decrement the refcount.
So remove this extra refcount in the ioctl
