When userspace sets MSR_IA32_FEATURE_CONTROL to 0, make sure we leave
root and non-root mode, fully disabling VMX. The register state of the
VCPU is undefined after this step, so userspace has to set it to a
proper state afterward.
This enables to reboot a VM while it is running some hypervisor code.

According to the SDM, only bits 0-3 of DR6 "may" be cleared by "certain"
debug exception. So do update them on #DB exception in KVM, but leave
the rest alone, only setting BD and BS in addition to already set bits
in DR6. This also aligns us with kvm_vcpu_check_singlestep.

In contrast to VMX, SVM dose not automatically transfer DR6 into the
VCPU's arch.dr6. So if we face a DR6 read, we must consult a new vendor
hook to obtain the current value. And as SVM now picks the DR6 state
from its VMCB, we also need a set callback in order to write updates of
DR6 back.

There are some parts of common kernel which would be using routines
like clk_get_rate() on some platforms. Currently, they wouldn't be
called for SA1100 boards, but they are needed for successful kernel
compilation.
Create a dummy clk_get_rate() routine for SA1100 which can be called
by the cpufreq core. More dummy routines might be added later if
necessary.

When Intel MID finds a match between SFI table from FW and registered
SFI devices, it will always register a device regardless the platform
code was successful or not.
This patch adds an extra option for platform code to return error code
and abort device registration on SFI table parsing.
This patch does not contain any functional changes for current intel
mid platform code.

The above commit breaks the mapping type for Device memory because
pgprot_default already contains a Normal memory type. pgprot_default is
also not initialised early enough for earlyprintk resulting in an
inconsistent memory mapping with 64K PAGE_SIZE configuration.

driver code and no need to specify it in the device tree. Remove the

device_type is deprecated and the kernel doesn't require it in most
cases. The only exceptions for flat tree users are the "gianfar",
"ucc_geth" and "ibm,emac" bindings, and arguably that requirement could
be relaxed for ucc_geth and ibm,emac (that is a task for separate
patches though).
This patch removes references to device_type="network" from the binding
documentation where possible and removes the properties from ARM and
microblaze dts files. This patch does not modify the powerpc .dts files
since there are a much larger number of them affected and I think the
ucc_geth, ibm,emac and gianfar users should be addressed before clearing
out the references to reduce the chance of breakage.

it. Except for a couple of old binding (compatible="gianfar" and
compatible="ucc_geth_phy") the kernel doesn't look for
device_type="mdio" at all.

The device_type property is deprecated for the flattened device tree and
the value "ethernet-phy" has never been defined as having a useful
meaning. Neither the kernel nor u-boot depend on it. It should never
have appeared in PHY bindings. This patch removes all references to
"ethernet-phy" as a device_type value from the documentation and the
.dts files.
This patch was generated mechanically with the following command and
then verified by looking at the diff.

On AMD family 10h we see following error messages while waking up from

ACPI: Waking up from system sleep state S3
Reason for this is that during suspend the LVT offset for the IBS
vector gets lost and needs to be reinialized while resuming.
The offset is read from the IBSCTL msr. On family 10h the offset needs
to be 1 as offset 0 is used for the MCE threshold interrupt, but
firmware assings it for IBS to 0 too. The kernel needs to reprogram
the vector. The msr is a readonly node msr, but a new value can be
written via pci config space access. The reinitialization is
implemented for family 10h in setup_ibs_ctl() which is forced during
IBS setup.
This patch fixes IBS setup after waking up from S3 by adding
resume/supend hooks for the boot cpu which does the offset
reinitialization.
Marking it as stable to let distros pick up this fix.

Waiman managed to trigger a PMI while in a emulate_vsyscall() fault,
the PMI in turn managed to trigger a fault while obtaining a stack
trace. This triggered the sig_on_uaccess_error recursive fault logic
and killed the process dead.
Fix this by explicitly excluding interrupts from the recursive fault
logic.

On SoCs that have the calibration MSRs available, either there is no
PIT, HPET or PMTIMER to calibrate against, or the PIT/HPET/PMTIMER is
driven from the same clock as the TSC, so calibration is redundant and
just slows down the boot.
TSC rate is caculated by this formula:
<maximum core-clock to bus-clock ratio> * <maximum resolved frequency>
The ratio and the resolved frequency ID can be obtained from MSR.

When a cpu is downed on a system, the irqs on the cpu are assigned to
other cpus. It is possible, however, that when a cpu is downed there
aren't enough free vectors on the remaining cpus to account for the
vectors from the cpu that is being downed.
This results in an interesting "overflow" condition where irqs are
"assigned" to a CPU but are not handled.

If the downed cpu has more vectors than are free on the remaining cpus on the
system, it is possible that some vectors are "orphaned" even though they are
assigned to a cpu. In this case, since the ixgbe driver had a watchdog, the
watchdog fired and notified that something was wrong.
This patch adds a function, check_vectors(), to compare the number of vectors
on the CPU going down and compares it to the number of vectors available on
the system. If there aren't enough vectors for the CPU to go down, an
error is returned and propogated back to userspace.

Race conditions are theoretically possible between the PCI device addition
and removal in the PPC64 PCI error recovery driver and the generic PCI bus
rescan and device removal that can be triggered via sysfs.
To avoid those race conditions make PPC64 PCI error recovery driver use
global PCI rescan-remove locking around PCI device addition and removal.

Add disable_cpu_apicid kernel parameter. To use this kernel parameter,
specify an initial APIC ID of the corresponding CPU you want to
disable.
This is mostly used for the kdump 2nd kernel to disable BSP to wake up
multiple CPUs without causing system reset or hang due to sending INIT
from AP to BSP.
Kdump users first figure out initial APIC ID of the BSP, CPU0 in the
1st kernel, for example from /proc/cpuinfo and then set up this kernel
parameter for the 2nd kernel using the obtained APIC ID.
However, doing this procedure at each boot time manually is awkward,
which should be automatically done by user-land service scripts, for
example, kexec-tools on fedora/RHEL distributions.
This design is more flexible than disabling BSP in kernel boot time
automatically in that in kernel boot time we have no choice but
referring to ACPI/MP table to obtain initial APIC ID for BSP, meaning
that the method is not applicable to the systems without such BIOS
tables.
One assumption behind this design is that users get initial APIC ID of
the BSP in still healthy state and so BSP is uniquely kept in
CPU0. Thus, through the kernel parameter, only one initial APIC ID can
be specified.
In a comparison with disabled_cpu_apicid, we use read_apic_id(), not
boot_cpu_physical_apicid, because on some platforms, the variable is
modified to the apicid reported as BSP through MP table and this
function is executed with the temporarily modified
boot_cpu_physical_apicid. As a result, disabled_cpu_apicid kernel
parameter doesn't work well for apicids of APs.
Fixing the wrong handling of boot_cpu_physical_apicid requires some
reviews and tests beyond some platforms and it could take some
time. The fix here is a kind of workaround to focus on the main topic
of this patch.

After the previous patch from Marcelo, the comment before this write
became obsolete. In fact, the write is unnecessary. The calls to
kvm_write_tsc ultimately result in a master clock update as soon as
all TSCs agree and the master clock is re-enabled. This master
clock update will rewrite tsc_timestamp.
So, together with the comment, delete the dead write too.

To fix a problem related to different resolution of TSC and system clock,
the offset in TSC units is approximated by
delta = vcpu->hv_clock.tsc_timestamp - vcpu->last_guest_tsc
(Guest TSC value at (Guest TSC value at last VM-exit)
the last kvm_guest_time_update
call)
Delta is then later scaled using mult,shift pair found in hv_clock
structure (which is correct against tsc_timestamp in that
structure).
However, if a frequency change is performed between these two points,
this delta is measured using different TSC frequencies, but scaled using
mult,shift pair for one frequency only.
The end result is an incorrect delta.
The bug which this code works around is not the only cause for
clock backwards events. The global accumulator is still
necessary, so remove the max_kernel_ns fix and rely on the
global accumulator for no clock backwards events.

Currently, Loongson-2 call protected_blast_icache_range() and others
call protected_loongson23_blast_icache_range(), but I think the correct
behavior should be the opposite. BTW, Loongson-3's cache-ops is
compatible with MIPS64, but not compatible with Loongson-2. So, rename
xxx_loongson23_yyy things to xxx_loongson2_yyy.
The patch fixes early boot hang with 3.13-rc1, introduced in commit
14bd8c0820 ("MIPS: Loongson: Get rid of Loongson 2 #ifdefery all over
arch/mips").

Its possible that OPAL may be writing to host memory during
kexec (like dump retrieve scenario). In this situation we might
end up corrupting host memory.
This patch makes OPAL sync call to make sure OPAL stops
writing to host memory before kexec'ing.

Sometimes, especially in sinario of loading another kernel with kdump,
we got EEH error on non-existing PE. That means the PEEV / PEST in
the corresponding PHB would be messy and we can't handle that case.
The patch escalates the error to fenced PHB so that the PHB could be
rested in order to revoer the errors on non-existing PEs.

For one PCI error relevant OPAL event, we possibly have multiple
EEH errors for that. For example, multiple frozen PEs detected on
different PHBs. Unfortunately, we didn't cover the case. The patch
enumarates the return value from eeh_ops::next_error() and change
eeh_handle_special_event() and eeh_ops::next_error() to handle all
existing EEH errors.
As Ben pointed out, we needn't list_for_each_entry_safe() since we
are not deleting any PHB from the hose_list and the EEH serialized
lock should be held while purging EEH events. The patch covers those
suggestions as well.

On ppc64 we use the pgtable for storing the hpte slot information and
store address to the pgtable at a constant offset (PTRS_PER_PMD) from
pmd. On mremap, when we switch the pmd, we need to withdraw and deposit
the pgtable again, so that we find the pgtable at PTRS_PER_PMD offset
from new pmd.
We also want to move the withdraw and deposit before the set_pmd so
that, when page fault find the pmd as trans huge we can be sure that
pgtable can be located at the offset.

Currently, if a process starts a transaction and then takes an
exception because the FPU, VMX or VSX unit is unavailable to it,
we end up corrupting any FP/VMX/VSX state that was valid before
the interrupt. For example, if the process starts a transaction
with the FPU available to it but VMX unavailable, and then does
a VMX instruction inside the transaction, the FP state gets
corrupted.
Loading up the desired state generally involves doing a reclaim
and a recheckpoint. To avoid corrupting already-valid state, we have
to be careful not to reload that state from the thread_struct
between the reclaim and the recheckpoint (since the thread_struct
values are stale by now), and we have to reload that state from
the transact_fp/vr arrays after the recheckpoint to get back the
current transactional values saved there by the reclaim.

Currently, when we have a process using the transactional memory
facilities on POWER8 (that is, the processor is in transactional
or suspended state), and the process enters the kernel and the
kernel then uses the floating-point or vector (VMX/Altivec) facility,
we end up corrupting the user-visible FP/VMX/VSX state. This
happens, for example, if a page fault causes a copy-on-write
operation, because the copy_page function will use VMX to do the
copy on POWER8. The test program below demonstrates the bug.
The bug happens because when FP/VMX state for a transactional process
is stored in the thread_struct, we store the checkpointed state in
.fp_state/.vr_state and the transactional (current) state in
.transact_fp/.transact_vr. However, when the kernel wants to use
FP/VMX, it calls enable_kernel_fp() or enable_kernel_altivec(),
which saves the current state in .fp_state/.vr_state. Furthermore,
when we return to the user process we return with FP/VMX/VSX
disabled. The next time the process uses FP/VMX/VSX, we don't know
which set of state (the current register values, .fp_state/.vr_state,
or .transact_fp/.transact_vr) we should be using, since we have no
way to tell if we are still in the same transaction, and if not,
whether the previous transaction succeeded or failed.
Thus it is necessary to strictly adhere to the rule that if FP has
been enabled at any point in a transaction, we must keep FP enabled
for the user process with the current transactional state in the
FP registers, until we detect that it is no longer in a transaction.
Similarly for VMX; once enabled it must stay enabled until the
process is no longer transactional.
In order to keep this rule, we add a new thread_info flag which we
test when returning from the kernel to userspace, called TIF_RESTORE_TM.
This flag indicates that there is FP/VMX/VSX state to be restored
before entering userspace, and when it is set the .tm_orig_msr field
in the thread_struct indicates what state needs to be restored.
The restoration is done by restore_tm_state(). The TIF_RESTORE_TM
bit is set by new giveup_fpu/altivec_maybe_transactional helpers,
which are called from enable_kernel_fp/altivec, giveup_vsx, and
flush_fp/altivec_to_thread instead of giveup_fpu/altivec.
The other thing to be done is to get the transactional FP/VMX/VSX
state from .fp_state/.vr_state when doing reclaim, if that state
has been saved there by giveup_fpu/altivec_maybe_transactional.
Having done this, we set the FP/VMX bit in the thread's MSR after
reclaim to indicate that that part of the state is now valid
(having been reclaimed from the processor's checkpointed state).
Finally, in the signal handling code, we move the clearing of the
transactional state bits in the thread's MSR a bit earlier, before
calling flush_fp_to_thread(), so that we don't unnecessarily set
the TIF_RESTORE_TM bit.

TIF_PERFMON_WORK and TIF_PERFMON_CTXSW are completely unused. They
appear to be related to the old perfmon2 code, which has been
superseded by the perf_event infrastructure. This removes their
definitions so that the bits can be used for other purposes.

If we set irq_work on a processor and immediately afterward, before the
irq work has a chance to be processed, we change the decrementer value,
we can seriously delay the handling of that irq_work.
Fix it by checking in a few places for pending irq work, first before
changing the decrementer in decrementer_set_next_event() and after
changing it in the same function and in timer_interrupt().

Huge Dickins reported an issue that b5ff4211a8
"powerpc/book3s: Queue up and process delayed MCE events" breaks the
PowerMac G5 boot. This patch fixes it by moving the mce even processing
away from syscall exit, which was wrong to do that in first place, and
using irq work framework to delay processing of mce event.

Commit fbd7740fdfdf9475f(powerpc: Simplify pSeries idle loop) switched pseries cpu
idle handling from complete idle loops to ppc_md.powersave functions. Earlier to
this switch, ppc64_runlatch_off() had to be called in each of the idle routines.
But after the switch, this call is handled in arch_cpu_idle(),just before the call
to ppc_md.powersave, where platform specific idle routines are called.
As a consequence, the call to ppc64_runlatch_off() got duplicated in the
arch_cpu_idle() routine as well as in the some of the idle routines in
pseries and commit fbd7740fdf missed to get rid of these redundant
calls. These calls were carried over subsequent enhancements to the pseries
cpuidle routines.
Although multiple calls to ppc64_runlatch_off() is harmless, there is still some
overhead due to it. Besides that, these calls could also make way for a
misunderstanding that it is *necessary* to call ppc64_runlatch_off() multiple
times, when that is not the case. Hence this patch takes care of eliminating
this redundancy.

At present we assume candidate image is <= 256MB. But in P8,
candidate image size can go up to 750MB. Hence increasing

There have been some weird bugs in the past where the kernel tried to associate
threads of the same core to different NUMA nodes, and things went haywire after
that point (as expected).
But unfortunately, root-causing such issues have been quite challenging, due to
the lack of appropriate debug checks in the kernel. These bugs usually lead to
some odd soft-lockups in the scheduler's build-sched-domain code in the CPU
hotplug path, which makes it very hard to trace it back to the incorrect
cpu-to-node mappings.
So add appropriate debug checks to catch such invalid cpu-to-node mappings
as early as possible.

On POWER platforms, the hypervisor can notify the guest kernel about dynamic
changes in the cpu-numa associativity (VPHN topology update). Hence the
cpu-to-node mappings that we got from the firmware during boot, may no longer
be valid after such updates. This is handled using the arch_update_cpu_topology()
hook in the scheduler, and the sched-domains are rebuilt according to the new
mappings.
But unfortunately, at the moment, CPU hotplug ignores these updated mappings
and instead queries the firmware for the cpu-to-numa relationships and uses
them during CPU online. So the kernel can end up assigning wrong NUMA nodes
to CPUs during subsequent CPU hotplug online operations (after booting).
Further, a particularly problematic scenario can result from this bug:
On POWER platforms, the SMT mode can be switched between 1, 2, 4 (and even 8)
threads per core. The switch to Single-Threaded (ST) mode is performed by
offlining all except the first CPU thread in each core. Switching back to
SMT mode involves onlining those other threads back, in each core.
Now consider this scenario:
1. During boot, the kernel gets the cpu-to-node mappings from the firmware
and assigns the CPUs to NUMA nodes appropriately, during CPU online.
2. Later on, the hypervisor updates the cpu-to-node mappings dynamically and
communicates this update to the kernel. The kernel in turn updates its
cpu-to-node associations and rebuilds its sched domains. Everything is
fine so far.
3. Now, the user switches the machine from SMT to ST mode (say, by running
ppc64_cpu --smt=1). This involves offlining all except 1 thread in each
core.
4. The user then tries to switch back from ST to SMT mode (say, by running
ppc64_cpu --smt=4), and this involves onlining those threads back. Since
CPU hotplug ignores the new mappings, it queries the firmware and tries to
associate the newly onlined sibling threads to the old NUMA nodes. This
results in sibling threads within the same core getting associated with
different NUMA nodes, which is incorrect.
The scheduler's build-sched-domains code gets thoroughly confused with this
and enters an infinite loop and causes soft-lockups, as explained in detail
in commit 3be7db6ab (powerpc: VPHN topology change updates all siblings).
So to fix this, use the numa_cpu_lookup_table to remember the updated
cpu-to-node mappings, and use them during CPU hotplug online operations.
Further, we also need to ensure that all threads in a core are assigned to a
common NUMA node, irrespective of whether all those threads were online during
the topology update. To achieve this, we take care not to use cpu_sibling_mask()
since it is not hotplug invariant. Instead, we use cpu_first_sibling_thread()
and set up the mappings manually using the 'threads_per_core' value for that
particular platform. This helps us ensure that we don't hit this bug with any
combination of CPU hotplug and SMT mode switching.

When EEH error comes to one specific PCI device before its driver
is loaded, we will apply hotplug to recover the error. During the
plug time, the PCI device will be probed and its driver is loaded.
Then we wrongly calls to the error handlers if the driver supports
EEH explicitly.
The patch intends to fix by introducing flag EEH_DEV_NO_HANDLER and
set it before we remove the PCI device. In turn, we can avoid wrongly
calls the error handlers of the PCI device after its driver loaded.

correctly on PowerNV platform. We needn't care it on pSeries
platform. The patch introduces additional EEH operation eeh_ops::
restore_config() so that we have chance to configure AER correctly
for PowerNV platform.

We don't have IO ports on PHB3 and the assignment of variable
"iomap_off" on PHB3 is meaningless. The patch just removes the
unnecessary assignment to the variable. The code change should
have been part of commit c35d2a8c ("powerpc/powernv: Needn't IO
segment map for PHB3").

After reverting 25ebc45b93
("powerpc/pseries/iommu: remove default window before attempting DDW
manipulation"), we no longer remove the base window in enable_ddw.
Therefore, we no longer need to reset the DMA window state in
find_existing_ddw_windows(). We can instead go back to what was done
before, which simply reuses the previous configuration, if any. Further,
this removes the final caller of the reset-pe-dma-windows call, so
remove those functions.
This fixes an EEH on kdump with the ipr driver. The EEH occurs, because
the initcall removes the DDW configuration (64-bit DMA window), but
doesn't ensure the ops are via the IOMMU -- a DMA operation occurs
during probe (still investigating this) and we EEH.
This reverts commit 14b6f00f8a.

Ben rightfully pointed out that there is a race in the "newer" DDW code.
Presuming we are running on recent enough firmware that supports the
"reset" DDW manipulation call, we currently always remove the base
32-bit DMA window in order to maximize the resources for Phyp when
creating the 64-bit window. However, this can be problematic for the
case where multiple functions are in the same PE (partitionable
endpoint), where some funtions might be 32-bit DMA only. All of a
sudden, the only functional DMA window for such functions is gone. We
will have serious errors in such situations. The best solution is simply
to revert the extension to the DDW code where we ever remove the base
DMA window.

None of these files are actually using any __init type directives
and hence don't need to include <linux/init.h>. Most are just a
left over from __devinit and __cpuinit removal, or simply due to
code getting copied from one driver to the next.
The one instance where we add an include for init.h covers off
a case where that file was implicitly getting it from another
header which itself didn't need it.

Use the simple-bus node to discover the io area, and remap the cached and
bypass io ranges. The parent-bus-address value of the first triplet in the
"ranges" property is used. This value is rounded down to the nearest 256MB
boundary. The length of the io area is fixed at 256MB; the "ranges" property
length value is ignored.
Other limitations: (1) only the first simple-bus node is considered, and (2)
only the first triplet of the "ranges" property is considered.

The recommended compatible string format, according to the ePAPR v1.1 standard,
is "manufacturer,model". Change the xtensa cpu compatible strings to
"cdns,xtensa-cpu". Also, change the boards compatible strings in a similar way.

there is a small possibility that wake_up of softirq thread
happens between local_irq_enable() and set_cpu_online(). In
this case affinity of the thread changes to fallback affinity
(i.e. CPU0). This may be a source of problems.
The patch kills that possibility.

PIC irq_ack doesn't clear timer IRQ, because timer interrupt handler
usually set up new timer by writing to ccompare register and thus
clearing timer IRQ. However timer may not be set up in the IRQ handler,
e.g. with tickless idle on SMP, or when CPU is going offline, leaving
timer IRQ raised and making do_interrupt attempting to handle it
forever.
To fix this always write current value of ccompare SR chosen to be linux
timer back to that SR on entry to timer interrupt handler.

Previously the custom GPIO header for the S3C24xx would in turn
bring in the custom pin control implementation from
<plat/gpio-cfg.h>. This is not good as it mixes up two
subsystems and makes the dependencies hard to track. Make
the dependency explicit by explicitly including the pin
control header where needed.

When refactoring and breaking out the includes for the
machine-specific GPIO configuration, two files were created
in <linux/platform_data/gpio-samsung-s3c[24|64]xx.h>, but as
that namespace shall be used for defining data exchanged
between machines and drivers, using it for these broad macros
and config settings is wrong.
Move the headers back into the machine-local
<mach/gpio-samsung.h> file and think about the next step.

Currently we do a read, a dummy write and a final read to fetch
the error code. The value from the final read is taken.
This is not the recommended way and leads to corrupted/lost ESR
values.
Intel(c) 64 and IA-32 Architectures Software Developer's Manual,
Combined Volumes 1, 2ABC, 3ABC, Section 10.5.3 states:
Before attempt to read from the ESR, software should first
write to it. (The value written does not affect the values read
subsequently; only zero may be written in x2APIC mode.) This
write clears any previously logged errors and updates the ESR
with any errors detected since the last write to the ESR.
This write also rearms the APIC error interrupt triggering
mechanism.
This patch removes the first read such that we are conform with
the manual.
On my (very old) Pentium MMX SMP system this patch fixes the
issue that APIC errors:
a) are not always reported and
b) are reported with false error numbers.

The first variants of Armada XP SoCs (A0 stepping) have issues related
to the i2c controller which prevent to use the offload mechanism and
lead to a kernel hang during boot.
This commit add quirk in the mvebu platform code to check the SoC
version and then update the compatible string for the i2c controller
according to the revision of the SoC. Currently only some OpenBlocks
AX3-4 boards are known to use an A0 revision so the check is done only
for these boards.

All the mvebu SoCs have information related to their variant and
revision that can be read from the PCI control register.
This patch adds support for Armada XP and Armada 370. This reading of
the revision and the ID are done before the PCI initialization to
avoid any conflicts. Once these data are retrieved, the resources are
freed to let the PCI subsystem use it.

ARMs ffs/fls implementations are not type compatible with x86, so when
they're used in combination with min()/max(), they provoke warnings.
Change these to be inline functions with the correct types, providing
the clz as a separate documentation, and document their individual
behaviours.

We've grown a bunch of microcode loader files all prefixed with
"microcode_". They should be under cpu/ because this is strictly
CPU-related functionality so do that and drop the prefix since they're
in their own directory now which gives that prefix. :)
While at it, drop MICROCODE_INTEL_LIB config item and stash the
functionality under CONFIG_MICROCODE_INTEL as it was its only user.

The original idea to use the microcode cache for the APs doesn't pan out
because we do memory allocation there very early and with IRQs disabled
and we don't want to involve GFP_ATOMIC allocations. Not if it can be
helped.
Thus, extend the caching of the BSP patch approach to the APs and
iterate over the ucode in the initrd instead of using the cache. We
still save the relevant patches to it but later, right before we
jettison the initrd.
While at it, fix early ucode loading on 32-bit too.

With various drivers wanting to inject idle time; we get people
calling idle routines outside of the idle loop proper.
Therefore we need to be extra careful about not missing
TIF_NEED_RESCHED -> PREEMPT_NEED_RESCHED propagations.
While looking at this, I also realized there's a small window in the
existing idle loop where we can miss TIF_NEED_RESCHED; when it hits
right after the tif_need_resched() test at the end of the loop but
right before the need_resched() test at the start of the loop.
So move preempt_fold_need_resched() out of the loop where we're
guaranteed to have TIF_NEED_RESCHED set.

The patch "s390/perf: add support for the CPU-Measurement Sampling
Facility" added a new instance of the __cpuinit macro usage.
We removed this a couple versions ago; we now want to remove
the compat no-op stubs. Introducing new users is not what
we want to see at this point in time, as it will break once
the stubs are gone.

PSW32_USER_BITS should define the primary address space for user space
instead of the home address space.
Symptom of this bug is that gdb doesn't work in compat mode.
The bug was introduced with e258d719ff "s390/uaccess: always run the kernel
in home space" and f26946d7ec "s390/compat: make psw32_user_bits a constant
value again".

Add the syscalls needed for supporting scheduling algorithms
with extended scheduling parameters (e.g., SCHED_DEADLINE).
In general, it makes possible to specify a periodic/sporadic task,
that executes for a given amount of runtime at each instance, and is
scheduled according to the urgency of their own timing constraints,
i.e.:
- a (maximum/typical) instance execution time,
- a minimum interval between consecutive instances,
- a time constraint by which each instance must be completed.
Thus, both the data structure that holds the scheduling parameters of
the tasks and the system calls dealing with it must be extended.
Unfortunately, modifying the existing struct sched_param would break
the ABI and result in potentially serious compatibility issues with
legacy binaries.
For these reasons, this patch:
- defines the new struct sched_attr, containing all the fields
that are necessary for specifying a task in the computational
model described above;
- defines and implements the new scheduling related syscalls that
manipulate it, i.e., sched_setattr() and sched_getattr().
Syscalls are introduced for x86 (32 and 64 bits) and ARM only, as a
proof of concept and for developing and testing purposes. Making them
available on other architectures is straightforward.
Since no "user" for these new parameters is introduced in this patch,
the implementation of the new system calls is just identical to their
already existing counterpart. Future patches that implement scheduling
policies able to exploit the new data structure must also take care of
modifying the sched_*attr() calls accordingly with their own purposes.

Some Atari hardware has no capacity to raise interrupts (e.g.
network or USB adapter hardware attached via ROM port). The driver
interrupt routine is called from a timer interrupt (timer D) in
these cases, using chained device specific pseudo interrupts
(IRQ_MFP_TIMER1 ff.)
These interrupts will more often than not, return IRQ_NONE as
there is not always work for the device handler when called.
Too many unhandled interrupts will result in the interrupt
being disabled by the stuck interrupt watchdog.
As preferred option to flag interrupts as needing exclusion
from the watchdog mechanism, tglx added the IRQ_IS_POLLED flag
for use in such a case. Currently, two interrupts need to use
this flag. Add more users as needed.

On PA-Semi firmware, the instance-to-package callback doesn't seem
to be implemented. We didn't check for error, however, thus
subsequently passed the -1 value returned into stdout_node to
thins like prom_getprop etc...
Thus caused the firmware to load values around 0 (physical) internally
as node structures. It somewhat "worked" as long as we had a NULL in the
right place (address 8) at the beginning of the kernel, we didn't "see"
the bug. But commit 5c0484e25e
"powerpc: Endian safe trampoline" changed the kernel entry point causing
that old bug to now cause a crash early during boot.
This fixes booting on PA-Semi board by properly checking the return
value from instance-to-package.

So mce_start_timer() has a 'cpu' argument which is supposed to mean to
start a timer on that cpu. However, the code currently starts a timer on
the *current* cpu the function runs on and causes the sanity-check in
mce_timer_fn to fire:

because it is running on the wrong cpu.
This was triggered by Prarit Bhargava <prarit@redhat.com> by offlining
all the cpus in succession.
Then, we were fiddling with the CMCI storm settings when starting the
timer whereas there's no need for that - if there's storm happening
on this newly restarted cpu, we're going to be in normal CMCI mode
initially and then when the CMCI interrupt starts firing, we're going to
go to the polling mode with the timer real soon.

Kexec disables outer cache before jumping to reboot code, but it doesn't
flush it explicitly. Flush is done implicitly inside of l2x0_disable().
But some SoC's override default .disable handler and don't flush cache.
This may lead to a corrupted memory during Kexec reboot on these
platforms.
This patch adds cache flush inside of OMAP4 and Highbank outer_cache.disable()
handlers to make it consistent with default l2x0_disable().

During heavy CPU-hotplug operations the following spurious kernel warnings
can trigger:
do_IRQ: No ... irq handler for vector (irq -1)

When downing a cpu it is possible that there are unhandled irqs
left in the APIC IRR register. The following code path shows
how the problem can occur:
1. CPU 5 is to go down.
2. cpu_disable() on CPU 5 executes with interrupt flag cleared
by local_irq_save() via stop_machine().
3. IRQ 12 asserts on CPU 5, setting IRR but not ISR because
interrupt flag is cleared (CPU unabled to handle the irq)
4. IRQs are migrated off of CPU 5, and the vectors' irqs are set
to -1. 5. stop_machine() finishes cpu_disable()
6. cpu_die() for CPU 5 executes in normal context.
7. CPU 5 attempts to handle IRQ 12 because the IRR is set for
IRQ 12. The code attempts to find the vector's IRQ and cannot
because it has been set to -1. 8. do_IRQ() warning displays
warning about CPU 5 IRQ 12.
I added a debug printk to output which CPU & vector was
retriggered and discovered that that we are getting bogus
events. I see a 100% correlation between this debug printk in
fixup_irqs() and the do_IRQ() warning.
This patchset resolves this by adding definitions for
VECTOR_UNDEFINED(-1) and VECTOR_RETRIGGERED(-2) and modifying
the code to use them.

A number of situations currently require the heavyweight smp_mb(),
even though there is no need to order prior stores against later
loads. Many architectures have much cheaper ways to handle these
situations, but the Linux kernel currently has no portable way
to make use of them.
This commit therefore supplies smp_load_acquire() and
smp_store_release() to remedy this situation. The new
smp_load_acquire() primitive orders the specified load against
any subsequent reads or writes, while the new smp_store_release()
primitive orders the specifed store against any prior reads or
writes. These primitives allow array-based circular FIFOs to be
implemented without an smp_mb(), and also allow a theoretical
hole in rcu_assign_pointer() to be closed at no additional
expense on most architectures.
In addition, the RCU experience transitioning from explicit
smp_read_barrier_depends() and smp_wmb() to rcu_dereference()
and rcu_assign_pointer(), respectively resulted in substantial
improvements in readability. It therefore seems likely that
replacing other explicit barriers with smp_load_acquire() and
smp_store_release() will provide similar benefits. It appears
that roughly half of the explicit barriers in core kernel code
might be so replaced.

We're going to be adding a few new barrier primitives, and in order to
avoid endless duplication make more agressive use of
asm-generic/barrier.h.
Change the asm-generic/barrier.h such that it allows partial barrier
definitions and fills out the rest with defaults.
There are a few architectures (m32r, m68k) that could probably
do away with their barrier.h file entirely but are kept for now due to
their unconventional nop() implementation.

This patch adds support for the Intel RAPL energy counter
PP1 (Power Plane 1).
On client processors, it usually corresponds to the
energy consumption of the builtin graphic card. That
is why the sysfs event is called energy-gpu.
New event:
- name: power/energy-gpu/
- code: event=0x4
- unit: 2^-32 Joules
On processors without graphics, this should count 0.
The patch only enables this event on client processors.

Currently code has an inverted logic: opcode from user memory
is swapped to a proper endianness only in case of read error.
While normally opcode should be swapped only if it was read
correctly from user memory.

The MPIDR contains specific bitfields(MPIDR.Aff{2..0}) which uniquely
identify a CPU, in addition to some non-identifying information and
reserved bits. The ARM cpu binding defines the 'reg' property to only
contain the affinity bits, and any cpu nodes with other bits set in
their 'reg' entry are skipped.
As such it is not necessary to mask the phys_id with MPIDR_HWID_BITMASK,
and doing so could lead to matching erroneous CPU nodes in the device
tree. This patch removes the masking of the physical identifier.

The EXYNOS cpuidle driver code assumes that cpuidle core will handle
dev->state_count smaller than drv->state_count but currently this is
untrue (dev->state_count is used only for handling cpuidle state sysfs
entries and drv->state_count is used for all other cases) and will not
be fixed in the future as dev->state_count is planned to be removed.
Fix the issue by checking for the max supported idle state in AFTR
state's ->enter handler (exynos4_enter_lowpower()) and entering AFTR
mode only when cores other than CPU0 are offline.

There are much pci compatible with version on existing platforms.
To stop putting version numbers in device tree later, we add a
generic compatible 'fsl,qoriq-pcie'.
The version number is readable directly from a register.

Add elo3-dma-2.dtsi to support the third DMA controller.
This is used on T2080, T4240, B4860, etc.
FSL MPIC v4.3 adds a new discontiguous address range for internal interrupts,
e.g. internal interrupt 0 is at offset 0x200 and thus interrupt number is:
0x200 >> 5 = 16 in the device tree. DMA controller 3 channel 0 internal
interrupt 240 is at offset 0x3a00, and thus the corresponding interrupt
number is: 0x3a00 >> 5 = 464, it's similar for other 7 interrupt numbers
of DMA 3 channels.

On Freescale e6500 cores EPCR[DGTMI] controls whether guest supervisor
state can execute TLB management instructions. If EPCR[DGTMI]=0
tlbwe and tlbilx are allowed to execute normally in the guest state.
A hypervisor may choose to virtualize TLB1 and for this purpose it
may use IPROT to protect the entries for being invalidated by the
guest. However, because tlbwe and tlbilx execution in the guest state
are sharing the same bit, it is not possible to have a scenario where
tlbwe is allowed to be executed in guest state and tlbilx traps. When
guest TLB management instructions are allowed to be executed in guest
state the guest cannot use tlbilx to invalidate TLB1 guest entries.
Linux is using tlbilx in the boot code to invalidate the temporary
entries it creates when initializing the MMU. The patch is replacing
the usage of tlbilx in initialization code with tlbwe with VALID bit
cleared.
Linux is also using tlbilx in other contexts (like huge pages or
indirect entries) but removing the tlbilx from the initialization code
offers the possibility to have scenarios under hypervisor which are
not using huge pages or indirect entries.

On P1020, P1021, P1022, and P1023, eLBC event interrupts are routed
to internal interrupt 3 while ELBC error interrupts are routed to
internal interrupt 0. We need to call request_irq for each.

P1020, P1021, P1022, P1023 when the lbc get error, the error
interrupt will be triggered. The corresponding interrupt is
internal IRQ0. So system have to process the lbc IRQ0 interrupt.
The corresponding lbc general interrupt is internal IRQ3.

driver-core now supports synchrnous self-deletion of attributes and
the asynchrnous removal mechanism is scheduled for removal. Use it
instead of device_schedule_callback().
* Conversions in arch/s390/pci/pci_sysfs.c and
drivers/s390/block/dcssblk.c are straightforward.
* drivers/s390/cio/ccwgroup.c is a bit more tricky because
ccwgroup_notifier() was (ab)using device_schedule_callback() to
purely obtain a process context to kick off ungroup operation which
may block from a notifier callback.
Rename ccwgroup_ungroup_callback() to ccwgroup_ungroup() and make it
take ccwgroup_device * instead. The new function is now called
directly from ccwgroup_ungroup_store().
ccwgroup_notifier() chain is updated to explicitly bounce through
ccwgroup_device->ungroup_work. This also removes possible failure
from memory pressure.
Only compile-tested.

The summary interrupt is #16 in the SPI space. Unfortunately,
when this device was translated from board files to DT we forgot
to subtract 16 from the interrupt number to translate it into a
SPI interrupt. Also, the register space is larger than 4k, increase
it appropriately so that the gpio driver doesn't try to access
registers outside of its mapping.

When a CPU resumes from low-power, it restores HW breakpoint and
watchpoint slots through a CPU PM notifier. Since we want to enable
debugging as early as possible in the resume path, the mdscr content
is restored along the general purpose registers in the cpu_suspend API
and debug exceptions are reenabled when cpu_suspend returns. Since the
CPU PM notifier is run after a CPU has been resumed, we cannot expect
HW breakpoint registers to contain sane values till the notifier is run,
since the HW breakpoints registers content is unknown at reset; this means
that the CPU might run with debug exceptions enabled, mdscr restored but HW
breakpoint registers containing junk values that can trigger spurious
debug exceptions.
This patch fixes current HW breakpoints restore by moving the HW breakpoints
registers restoration to the cpu_suspend API, before the debug exceptions are
enabled. This way, as soon as the cpu_suspend function returns the
kernel can resume debugging with sane values in HW breakpoint registers.

The usage of 'select' means it will enable the CONFIG
options without checking their dependencies. That meant
we would inadvertently turn on CONFIG_XEN_PVHM while its

Add support for the Motorola/Emerson MVME5100 Single Board Computer.
The MVME5100 is a 6U form factor VME64 computer with:

- Up to 500Mb of onboard memory

- PPCBug Firmware
The HAWK PHB/MPIC is compatible with the MPC10x devices.
There is no onboard disk support. This is usually provided by installing a PMC
in first PMC slot.
This patch revives the board support, it was present in early 2.6
series kernels. The board support in those days was by Matt Porter of
MontaVista Software.
CSC Australia has around 31 of these boards in service. The kernel in use
for the boards is based on 2.6.31. The boards are operated without disks
from a file server.
This patch is based on linux-3.13-rc2 and has been boot tested.
Only boards with 512 Mb of memory are known to work.

There are a few things that make the existing hw tablewalk handlers
unsuitable for e6500:
- Indirect entries go in TLB1 (though the resulting direct entries go in
TLB0).
- It has threads, but no "tlbsrx." -- so we need a spinlock and
a normal "tlbsx". Because we need this lock, hardware tablewalk
is mandatory on e6500 unless we want to add spinlock+tlbsx to
the normal bolted TLB miss handler.
- TLB1 has no HES (nor next-victim hint) so we need software round robin
(TODO: integrate this round robin data with hugetlb/KVM)
- The existing tablewalk handlers map half of a page table at a time,
because IBM hardware has a fixed 1MiB indirect page size. e6500
has variable size indirect entries, with a minimum of 2MiB.
So we can't do the half-page indirect mapping, and even if we
could it would be less efficient than mapping the full page.
- Like on e5500, the linear mapping is bolted, so we don't need the
overhead of supporting nested tlb misses.
Note that hardware tablewalk does not work in rev1 of e6500.
We do not expect to support e6500 rev1 in mainline Linux.

There is no barrier between something like ioremap() writing to
a PTE, and returning the value to a caller that may then store the
pointer in a place that is visible to other CPUs. Such callers
generally don't perform barriers of their own.
Even if callers of ioremap() and similar things did use barriers,
the most logical choise would be smp_wmb(), which is not
architecturally sufficient when BookE hardware tablewalk is used. A
full sync is specified by the architecture.
For userspace mappings, OTOH, we generally already have an lwsync due
to locking, and if we occasionally take a spurious fault due to not
having a full sync with hardware tablewalk, it will not be fatal
because we will retry rather than oops.

When booting above the 64M for a secondary cpu, we also face the
same issue as the boot cpu that the PAGE_OFFSET map two different
physical address for the init tlb and the final map. So we have to use
switch_to_as1/restore_to_as0 between the conversion of these two
maps. When restoring to as0 for a secondary cpu, we only need to
return to the caller. So add a new parameter for function
restore_to_as0 for this purpose.
Use LOAD_REG_ADDR_PIC to get the address of variables which may
be used before we set the final map in cams for the secondary cpu.
Move the setting of cams a bit earlier in order to avoid the
unnecessary using of LOAD_REG_ADDR_PIC.

This is always true for a non-relocatable kernel. Otherwise the kernel
would get stuck. But for a relocatable kernel, it seems a little
complicated. When booting a relocatable kernel, we just align the
kernel start addr to 64M and map the PAGE_OFFSET from there. The
relocation will base on this virtual address. But if this address
is not the same as the memstart_addr, we will have to change the
map of PAGE_OFFSET to the real memstart_addr and do another relocation
again.

For a relocatable kernel since it can be loaded at any place, there
is no any relation between the kernel start addr and the memstart_addr.
So we can't calculate the memstart_addr from kernel start addr. And
also we can't wait to do the relocation after we get the real
memstart_addr from device tree because it is so late. So introduce
a new function we can use to get the first memblock address and size
in a very early stage (before machine_init).

We use the tlb1 entries to map low mem to the kernel space. In the
current code, it assumes that the first tlb entry would cover the
kernel image. But this is not true for some special cases, such as
when we run a relocatable kernel above the 64M or set
CONFIG_KERNEL_START above 64M. So we choose to switch to address
space 1 before setting these tlb entries.

This is based on the codes in the head_44x.S. The difference is that
the init tlb size we used is 64M. With this patch we can only load the
kernel at address between memstart_addr ~ memstart_addr + 64M. We will
fix this restriction in the following patches.

The e500v1 doesn't implement the MAS7, so we should avoid to access
this register on that implementations. In the current kernel, the
access to MAS7 are protected by either CONFIG_PHYS_64BIT or
MMU_FTR_BIG_PHYS. Since some code are executed before the code
patching, we have to use CONFIG_PHYS_64BIT in these cases.

Function tracing callbacks expect to have the ftrace_ops that registered it
passed to them, not the address of the variable that holds the ftrace_ops
that registered it.
Use a mov instead of a lea to store the ftrace_ops into the parameter

sleep_on and its variants are racy and going away. This replaces
the two uses in the cris sync_serial drivers with the equivalent

The DT based MSM platforms can join the multi-platform builds, so
introduce a DT based ARCH_MSM option. This option allows DT based
MSM platforms to be built into the multi-platform kernel. Also
introduce a hidden ARCH_MSM config that both the DT and non-DT
platform support code select to avoid churn in places that depend
on CONFIG_ARCH_MSM.

The MSM timer is only used on MSM devices that don't have the
architected timers. Introduce a hidden Kconfig option for this
driver so that we don't build it on the platforms that don't need
it.

The functionality provided by clock.c in mach-msm is only needed
on proc_comm based platforms. Only build the file if proc_comm is
enabled. This prevents compile failures for platforms that are
part of the multi-platform kernel.

This patch fix compilation error when driver is compiled
in multi-platform builds.

Use platform data supplied reset handlers and adjust error

framework and newer targets.

Revert the addition of SSI clocks to DT for the
r8a7790 (R-Car H2) and r8a7791 (R-Car M2) SoCs.
Unfortunately these patches prevent booting the
r8a7790-based Lager board and r8a7791-based Koelsch board
to the point where a serial output is available.
A solution to this problem is being sought but has not
yet been finalised so in the mean time revert the changes.
