2516d67005 cpufreq: arm_big_little: Register an Energy Model
Now that PM_OPP provides a helper function to estimate the power
consumed by CPUs, make sure to try and register an Energy Model (EM)
from the arm_big_little CPUFreq driver, hence ensuring interested
subsystems (the task scheduler, for example) can make use of that
information when available.

6396bb2215 treewide: kzalloc() -> kcalloc()
The kzalloc() function has a 2-factor argument form, kcalloc(). This
patch replaces cases of:

        kzalloc(a * b, gfp)

with:
        kcalloc(a * b, gfp)

as well as handling cases of:

        kzalloc(a * b * c, gfp)

with:

        kzalloc(array3_size(a, b, c), gfp)

as it's slightly less ugly than:

        kzalloc_array(array_size(a, b), c, gfp)

This does, however, attempt to ignore constant size factors like:

        kzalloc(4 * 1024, gfp)

though any constants defined via macros get caught up in the conversion.

Any factors with a sizeof() of "unsigned char", "char", and "u8" were
dropped, since they're redundant.

The Coccinelle script used for this was:

// Fix redundant parens around sizeof().

3c1f5a462e cpufreq: arm_big_little: Don't validate the frequency table twice
The cpufreq core is already validating the CPU frequency table after
calling the ->init() callback of the cpufreq drivers and the drivers
don't need to do the same anymore. Though they need to set the
policy->freq_table field directly from the ->init() callback now.

Stop validating the frequency table from arm_big_little driver.

3ebb62ffc4 cpu_cooling: Keep only one of_cpufreq*cooling_register() helper
of_cpufreq_cooling_register() isn't used by anyone and so can be
removed, but then we would be left with two routines:
cpufreq_cooling_register() and of_cpufreq_power_cooling_register() that
would look odd.

Remove current implementation of of_cpufreq_cooling_register() and
rename of_cpufreq_power_cooling_register() as
of_cpufreq_cooling_register(). This simplifies lots of stuff.

4d753aa7b6 thermal: cpu_cooling: use cpufreq_policy to register cooling device
The CPU cooling driver uses the cpufreq policy, to get clip_cpus, the
frequency table, etc. Most of the callers of CPU cooling driver's
registration routines have the cpufreq policy with them, but they only
pass the policy->related_cpus cpumask. The __cpufreq_cooling_register()
routine then gets the policy by itself and uses it.

It would be much better if the callers can pass the policy instead
directly. This also fixes a basic design flaw, where the policy can be
freed while the CPU cooling driver is still active.

d9975b0b07 cpufreq: arm_big_little: use generic OPP functions for {init, free}_opp_table
Currently when performing random CPU hot-plugs and suspend-to-ram(S2R)
on systems using arm_big_little cpufreq driver, we get warnings similar
to something like below:

cpu cpu1: _opp_add: duplicate OPPs detected. Existing: freq: 600000000,
	volt: 800000, enabled: 1. New: freq: 600000000, volt: 800000, enabled: 1

This is mainly because the OPPs for the shared cpus are not set. We can
just use dev_pm_opp_of_cpumask_add_table in case the OPPs are obtained
from DT(arm_big_little_dt.c) or use dev_pm_opp_set_sharing_cpus if the
OPPs are obtained by other means like firmware(e.g. scpi-cpufreq.c)

Also now that the generic dev_pm_opp{,_of}_cpumask_remove_table can
handle removal of opp table and entries for all associated CPUs, we can
re-use dev_pm_opp{,_of}_cpumask_remove_table as free_opp_table in
cpufreq_arm_bL_ops.

This patch makes necessary changes to reuse the generic OPP functions for
{init,free}_opp_table and thereby eliminating the warnings.

14f1ba3af6 cpufreq: arm_big_little: fix frequency check when bL switcher is active
The check for correct frequency being set in bL_cpufreq_set_rate is
broken when the big.LITTLE switcher is active, for two reasons.

 1. The 'new_rate' variable gets overwritten before the test by the
 code calculating the frequency of the old cluster.

 2. The frequency returned by bL_cpufreq_get_rate will be the virtual
 frequency, not the actual one the intended version of new_rate contains.

This means the function always returns an error causing an endless
stream of: "cpufreq: __target_index: Failed to change cpu frequency: -5"

As the intent is to check for errors that clk_set_rate doesn't report
lets move the check to immediately after that and directly use
clk_get_rate, rather than the arm_big_little helpers which only confuse
matters. Also, update the comment to be hopefully clearer about the
purpose of the code.

8f3ba3d325 cpufreq: arm_big_little: set 'physical_cluster' for each CPU
We have a per-CPU variable for managing which cluster a CPU belongs to.
Currently, physical_cluster is set for policy->cpu only which leads to
the following on some SoC's:

 - There are two clusters:
   - Cluster 0 has four ARM Cortex A7 CPUs (slower ones): 0,1,2,3
   - Cluster 1 has four ARM Cortex A15 CPUs (faster ones): 4,5,6,7
 - CPUs are booted in order 0,1..7 and so initially policy->cpu for A7 cluster
   would be 0 and for A15 cluster would be 4.
 - Now CPU4 (i.e. A15_0) is hotplugged out and so policy->cpu for A15 cluster
   becomes 5 (i.e. A15_1).
 - But physical cluster is only set for CPU0 and CPU4 in ARM big LITTLE driver
   and isn't updated.
 - Now freq change request comes for A15 cluster and we would try to update freq
   of physical_cluster of CPU5, i.e. A15_1. And it is currently set to zero
   (default value of uninitialized global variables).
 - And so we actually try to change freq of A7 cluster instead of A15.
 - This also results in kernel crash as sometimes we might request freq above
   A7's limit and CPU may behave badly..

Fix this by initializing physical_cluster for all CPUs of a policy.

ae6b427132 cpufreq: Mark ARM drivers with CPUFREQ_NEED_INITIAL_FREQ_CHECK flag
Sometimes boot loaders set CPU frequency to a value outside of frequency table
present with cpufreq core. In such cases CPU might be unstable if it has to run

frequency which is specified in frequency table.

On some systems we can't really say what frequency we're running at the moment
and so for these we shouldn't check if we are running at a frequency present in
frequency table. And so we really can't force this for all the cpufreq drivers.

Hence we are created another flag here: CPUFREQ_NEED_INITIAL_FREQ_CHECK that
will be marked by platforms which want to go for this check at boot time.

Initially this is done for all ARM platforms but others may follow if required.

d4019f0a92 cpufreq: move freq change notifications to cpufreq core
Most of the drivers do following in their ->target_index() routines:

	struct cpufreq_freqs freqs;
	freqs.old = old freq...
	freqs.new = new freq...

	cpufreq_notify_transition(policy, &freqs, CPUFREQ_PRECHANGE);

	/* Change rate here */

	cpufreq_notify_transition(policy, &freqs, CPUFREQ_POSTCHANGE);

This is replicated over all cpufreq drivers today and there doesn't exists a
good enough reason why this shouldn't be moved to cpufreq core instead.

There are few special cases though, like exynos5440, which doesn't do everything
on the call to ->target_index() routine and call some kind of bottom halves for
doing this work, work/tasklet/etc..

They may continue doing notification from their own code as flag:
CPUFREQ_ASYNC_NOTIFICATION is already set for them.

All drivers are also modified in this patch to avoid breaking 'git bisect', as
double notification would happen otherwise.

45cac118ff cpufreq: arm_big_little: reconfigure switcher behavior at run time
The b.L switcher can be turned on/off at run time. It is therefore
necessary to change the cpufreq driver behavior accordingly.

The driver must be unregistered/registered with the cpufreq core
to reconfigure freq tables for the virtual or actual CPUs. This is
accomplished via the b.L switcher notifier callback.

e79a23c5b9 cpufreq: arm_big_little: add in-kernel switching (IKS) support
This patch adds IKS (In Kernel Switcher) support to cpufreq driver.

This creates a combined freq table for A7-A15 CPU pairs. A7 frequencies
are virtualized and scaled down to half the actual frequencies to
approximate a linear scale across the combined A7+A15 range. When the
requested frequency change crosses the A7-A15 boundary a cluster switch
is invoked.

9c0ebcf78f cpufreq: Implement light weight ->target_index() routine
Currently, the prototype of cpufreq_drivers target routines is:

int target(struct cpufreq_policy *policy, unsigned int target_freq,
		unsigned int relation);

And most of the drivers call cpufreq_frequency_table_target() to get a valid
index of their frequency table which is closest to the target_freq. And they
don't use target_freq and relation after that.

So, it makes sense to just do this work in cpufreq core before calling
cpufreq_frequency_table_target() and simply pass index instead. But this can be
done only with drivers which expose their frequency table with cpufreq core. For
others we need to stick with the old prototype of target() until those drivers
are converted to expose frequency tables.

This patch implements the new light weight prototype for target_index() routine.
It looks like this:

int target_index(struct cpufreq_policy *policy, unsigned int index);

CPUFreq core will call cpufreq_frequency_table_target() before calling this
routine and pass index to it. Because CPUFreq core now requires to call routines
present in freq_table.c CONFIG_CPU_FREQ_TABLE must be enabled all the time.

This also marks target() interface as deprecated. So, that new drivers avoid
using it. And Documentation is updated accordingly.

It also converts existing .target() to newly defined light weight
.target_index() routine for many driver.

076dec90fc cpufreq: arm-big-little: use clk_get instead of clk_get_sys
Currently clk_get_sys is used with cpu-cluster.<n> as the device id
which is incorrect. It should be connection/consumer ID instead.

It is possible to specify input clock in the cpu device node along
with the optional clock-name. clk_get_sys can't handle that.

This patch replaces clk_get_sys with clk_get to extend support for
clocks specified in the device tree cpu node.

8a67f0ef2b cpufreq: ARM big LITTLE: Add generic cpufreq driver and its DT glue
big LITTLE is ARM's new Architecture focussing power/performance needs of modern
world. More information about big LITTLE can be found here:

http://www.arm.com/products/processors/technologies/biglittleprocessing.php
http://lwn.net/Articles/481055/

In order to keep cpufreq support for all big LITTLE platforms simple/generic,
this patch tries to add a generic cpufreq driver layer for all big LITTLE
platforms.

The driver is divided into two parts:
- Core driver: Generic and shared across all big LITTLE SoC's
- Glue drivers: Per platform drivers providing ops to the core driver

This patch adds in a generic glue driver which would extract information from
Device Tree.

Future SoC's can either reuse the DT glue or write their own depending on the
need.
