Don't quote $nm in the script for checking the vdso for external
references. Doing so breaks multiword constructs, like using
CROSS_COMPILE='ccache '.

The vdso is a piece of userspace code which is supposed to be fully
self-contained. Any external (undefined) reference is an error, and
should be caught at compile time. This was giving us trouble when
compiling with -Os on gcc 4.5.0, for example (failed inline).
The need to do a buildtime check was pointed out by Andi Kleen.

percpu.h is included by sched.h and module.h and thus ends up being
included when building most .c files. percpu.h includes slab.h which
in turn includes gfp.h making everything defined by the two files
universally available and complicating inclusion dependencies.
percpu.h -> slab.h dependency is about to be removed. Prepare for
this change by updating users of gfp and slab facilities include those
headers directly instead of assuming availability. As this conversion
needs to touch large number of source files, the following script is
used as the basis of conversion.

The script does the followings.
* Scan files for gfp and slab usages and update includes such that
only the necessary includes are there. ie. if only gfp is used,
gfp.h, if slab is used, slab.h.
* When the script inserts a new include, it looks at the include
blocks and try to put the new include such that its order conforms
to its surrounding. It's put in the include block which contains
core kernel includes, in the same order that the rest are ordered -
alphabetical, Christmas tree, rev-Xmas-tree or at the end if there
doesn't seem to be any matching order.
* If the script can't find a place to put a new include (mostly
because the file doesn't have fitting include block), it prints out
an error message indicating which .h file needs to be added to the
file.
The conversion was done in the following steps.
1. The initial automatic conversion of all .c files updated slightly
over 4000 files, deleting around 700 includes and adding ~480 gfp.h
and ~3000 slab.h inclusions. The script emitted errors for ~400
files.
2. Each error was manually checked. Some didn't need the inclusion,
some needed manual addition while adding it to implementation .h or
embedding .c file was more appropriate for others. This step added
inclusions to around 150 files.
3. The script was run again and the output was compared to the edits
from #2 to make sure no file was left behind.
4. Several build tests were done and a couple of problems were fixed.
e.g. lib/decompress_*.c used malloc/free() wrappers around slab
APIs requiring slab.h to be added manually.
5. The script was run on all .h files but without automatically
editing them as sprinkling gfp.h and slab.h inclusions around .h
files could easily lead to inclusion dependency hell. Most gfp.h
inclusion directives were ignored as stuff from gfp.h was usually
wildly available and often used in preprocessor macros. Each
slab.h inclusion directive was examined and added manually as
necessary.
6. percpu.h was updated not to include slab.h.
7. Build test were done on the following configurations and failures
were fixed. CONFIG_GCOV_KERNEL was turned off for all tests (as my
distributed build env didn't work with gcov compiles) and a few
more options had to be turned off depending on archs to make things
build (like ipr on powerpc/64 which failed due to missing writeq).
* x86 and x86_64 UP and SMP allmodconfig and a custom test config.
* powerpc and powerpc64 SMP allmodconfig
* sparc and sparc64 SMP allmodconfig
* ia64 SMP allmodconfig
* s390 SMP allmodconfig
* alpha SMP allmodconfig
* um on x86_64 SMP allmodconfig
8. percpu.h modifications were reverted so that it could be applied as
a separate patch and serve as bisection point.
Given the fact that I had only a couple of failures from tests on step
6, I'm fairly confident about the coverage of this conversion patch.
If there is a breakage, it's likely to be something in one of the arch
headers which should be easily discoverable easily on most builds of
the specific arch.

After talking with some application writers who want very fast, but not
fine-grained timestamps, I decided to try to implement new clock_ids
to clock_gettime(): CLOCK_REALTIME_COARSE and CLOCK_MONOTONIC_COARSE
which returns the time at the last tick. This is very fast as we don't
have to access any hardware (which can be very painful if you're using
something like the acpi_pm clocksource), and we can even use the vdso
clock_gettime() method to avoid the syscall. The only trade off is you
only get low-res tick grained time resolution.
This isn't a new idea, I know Ingo has a patch in the -rt tree that made
the vsyscall gettimeofday() return coarse grained time when the
vsyscall64 sysctrl was set to 2. However this affects all applications
on a system.
With this method, applications can choose the proper speed/granularity
trade-off for themselves.

According to the gettimeofday(2) manual:
If either tv or tz is NULL, the corresponding structure is not
set or returned.
Since it is legal to give NULL as the tv argument, the code should make
sure tv is not NULL before trying to dereference it.
This issue manifests itself on x86_64 when vdso=0 is not on the kernel
command-line and libc uses the vDSO for gettimeofday() (e.g. glibc >=
2.7). A simple reproducer:

arch_setup_additional_pages currently gets two arguments, the binary
format descripton and an indication if the process uses an executable
stack or not. The second argument is not used by anybody, it could
be removed without replacement.
What actually does make sense is to pass an indication if the process
uses the elf interpreter or not. The glibc code will not use anything
from the vdso if the process does not use the dynamic linker, so for
statically linked binaries the architecture backend can choose not
to map the vdso.

AMD only supports "syscall" from 32-bit compat usermode.
Intel and Centaur(?) only support "sysenter" from 32-bit compat usermode.
Set the X86 feature bits accordingly, and set up the vdso in
accordance with those bits. On the offchance we run on in a 64-bit
environment which supports neither syscall nor sysenter from 32-bit
mode, then fall back to the int $0x80 vdso.

The 64-bit vDSO image is in a special ".vdso" section for no reason
I can determine. Furthermore, the location of the vdso_end symbol
includes some wrongly-calculated padding space in the image, which
is then (correctly) rounded to page size, resulting in an extra page
of zeros in the image mapped in to user processes.
This changes it to put the vdso.so image into normal initdata as we
have always done for the 32-bit vDSO images. The extra padding is
gone, so the user VMA is one page instead of two. The image that
was already copied around at boot time is now in initdata, so we
recover that wasted space after boot.

The 64-bit vDSO's sources are compiled with -g0 for no good reason.
Using -g when enabled lets their separate debug files be used at
runtime via build ID matching, same as we can see 32-bit vDSO's
assembly sources.

We map a VMA for the 32-bit vDSO even when it's disabled, which is stupid.
For the 32-bit kernel it's the vdso_enabled boot parameter/sysctl
and for the 64-bit kernel it's the vdso32 boot parameter/syscall32 sysctl.
When it's disabled, we don't pass AT_SYSINFO_EHDR so processes don't use
the vDSO for anything, but we still map it. For the non-compat vDSO,
this means we're always putting an extra VMA somewhere, maybe lousing
up the control of the address space the user was hoping for.
Honor the setting by doing nothing in arch_setup_additional_pages.

Priit Laes discovered that the sed command processing nm output was
sensitive to locale settings. This was addressed in commit
03994f01e8 by using [:alnum:] in place of
[a-zA-Z0-9].
But that solution too is locale-dependent and may not always match
the identifiers it needs to. The better fix is just to run sed et al
with a fixed locale setting in all builds.

For some locales regex range [a-zA-Z] does not work as it is supposed to.
so we have to use [:alnum:] and [:xdigit:] to make it work as intended.

The makefile magic for installing the 32-bit vdso images on disk had a
little error. A single-line change would fix that bug, but this does a
little more to reduce the error-prone duplication of this bit of
makefile variable magic.

Targetting paravirt, this patch introduces native_read_tscp, in
place of rdtscp() macro. When in a paravirt guest, this will
involve a function call, and thus, cannot be done in the vdso area.

Some assembler versions automagically optimize .eh_frame contents,
changing their size. The CFI in sysenter.S was not using optimal
formatting, so it would be changed by newer/smarter assemblers.
This ran afoul of the wired constant for padding out the other vDSO
images to match its size. This changes the original hand-coded
source to use the optimal format encoding for its operations. That
leaves nothing more for a fancy assembler to do, so the sizes will
match the wired-in expected size regardless of the assembler version.

This reorders the code in the 32-bit vDSO images to put the signal
trampolines first and __kernel_vsyscall after them. The order does
not matter to userland, it just uses what AT_SYSINFO or e_entry
says. Since the signal trampolines are the same size in both
versions of the vDSO, putting them first is the simplest way to get
the addresses to line up. This makes it work to use a more compact
layout for the vDSO.

This makes x86_64's ia32 emulation support share the sources used in the
32-bit kernel for the 32-bit vDSO and much of its setup code.
The 32-bit vDSO mapping now behaves the same on x86_64 as on native 32-bit.
The abi.syscall32 sysctl on x86_64 now takes the same values that
vm.vdso_enabled takes on the 32-bit kernel. That is, 1 means a randomized
vDSO location, 2 means the fixed old address. The CONFIG_COMPAT_VDSO
option is now available to make this the default setting, the same meaning
it has for the 32-bit kernel. (This does not affect the 64-bit vDSO.)
The argument vdso32=[012] can be used on both 32-bit and 64-bit kernels to
set this paramter at boot time. The vdso=[012] argument still does this
same thing on the 32-bit kernel.

This puts the syscall version of the 32-bit vDSO in arch/x86/vdso/vdso32/
for 64-bit IA32 support. This is not used yet, but it paves the way for
consolidating the 32-bit vDSO source and build logic all in one place.
