037fc3368b kbuild: force all architectures except um to include mandatory-y
Currently, every arch/*/include/uapi/asm/Kbuild explicitly includes
the common Kbuild.asm file. Factor out the duplicated include directives
to scripts/Makefile.asm-generic so that no architecture would opt out
of the mandatory-y mechanism.

um is not forced to include mandatory-y since it is a very exceptional
case which does not support UAPI.

3437d3c886 nios2: Use an invalid TLB entry address helper function
There is no need for complicated calculation for an invalid address
that maps to the same TLB index as the entry to be invalidated. Using
the TLB address plus the two top bits set puts the address into the
kernel TLB bypass range and still maps to the same cache line.

This is also a bug fix for flush_tlb_pid, which is currently unused,

195568a10a nios2: flush_tlb_page use PID based flush
flush_tlb_page is for flushing user pages, so it should not be using
flush_tlb_one (which flushes all pages).

This patch implements it with the flush_tlb_range, which is a user
flush that does the right thing.

flush_tlb_one is made static to mm/tlb.c because it's a bit confusing.
It is used in do_page_fault to flush the kernel non-linear mappings,
so that is replaced with flush_tlb_kernel_page. The end result is that
functionality is identical.

ef5cbcb6bf nios2: update_mmu_cache clear the old entry from the TLB
Fault paths like do_read_fault will install a Linux pte with the young
bit clear. The CPU will fault again because the TLB has not been
updated, this time a valid pte exists so handle_pte_fault will just
set the young bit with ptep_set_access_flags, which flushes the TLB.

The TLB is flushed so the next attempt will go to the fast TLB handler
which loads the TLB with the new Linux pte. The access then proceeds.

This design is fragile to depend on the young bit being clear after
the initial Linux fault. A proposed core mm change to immediately set
the young bit upon such a fault, results in ptep_set_access_flags not
flushing the TLB because it finds no change to the pte. The spurious
fault fix path only flushes the TLB if the access was a store. If it
was a load, then this results in an infinite loop of page faults.

This change adds a TLB flush in update_mmu_cache, which removes that
TLB entry upon the first fault. This will cause the fast TLB handler
to load the new pte and avoid the Linux page fault entirely.

d5dbb2e8ce nios2: remove redundant 'default n' from Kconfig-s
'default n' is the default value for any bool or tristate Kconfig
setting so there is no need to write it explicitly.

Also since commit f467c5640c ("kconfig: only write '# CONFIG_FOO
is not set' for visible symbols") the Kconfig behavior is the same
regardless of 'default n' being present or not:

    ...
One side effect of (and the main motivation for) this change is making
the following two definitions behave exactly the same:

        config FOO
                bool

        config FOO
                bool
                default n

With this change, neither of these will generate a
'# CONFIG_FOO is not set' line (assuming FOO isn't selected/implied).
That might make it clearer to people that a bare 'default n' is
    redundant.

736706bee3 get rid of legacy 'get_ds()' function
Every in-kernel use of this function defined it to KERNEL_DS (either as
an actual define, or as an inline function). It's an entirely
historical artifact, and long long long ago used to actually read the
segment selector valueof '%ds' on x86.

Which in the kernel is always KERNEL_DS.

Inspired by a patch from Jann Horn that just did this for a very small
subset of users (the ones in fs/), along with Al who suggested a script.
I then just took it to the logical extreme and removed all the remaining
gunk.

Roughly scripted with

   git grep -l '(get_ds())' -- :^tools/ | xargs sed -i 's/(get_ds())/(KERNEL_DS)/'
   git grep -lw 'get_ds' -- :^tools/ | xargs sed -i '/^#define get_ds()/d'

plus manual fixups to remove a few unusual usage patterns, the couple of
inline function cases and to fix up a comment that had become stale.

The 'get_ds()' function remains in an x86 kvm selftest, since in user
space it actually does something relevant.

c8ce48f065 asm-generic: Make time32 syscall numbers optional
We don't want new architectures to even provide the old 32-bit time_t
based system calls any more, or define the syscall number macros.

Add a new __ARCH_WANT_TIME32_SYSCALLS macro that gets enabled for all
existing 32-bit architectures using the generic system call table,
so we don't change any current behavior.
Since this symbol is evaluated in user space as well, we cannot use
a Kconfig CONFIG_* macro but have to define it in uapi/asm/unistd.h.

On 64-bit architectures, the same system call numbers mostly refer to
the system calls we want to keep, as they already pass 64-bit time_t.

As new architectures no longer provide these, we need new exceptions
in checksyscalls.sh.

80d7da1cac asm-generic: Drop getrlimit and setrlimit syscalls from default list
The newer prlimit64 syscall provides all the functionality of getrlimit
and setrlimit syscalls and adds the pid of target process, so future
architectures won't need to include getrlimit and setrlimit.

Therefore drop getrlimit and setrlimit syscalls from the generic syscall
list unless __ARCH_WANT_SET_GET_RLIMIT is defined by the architecture's
unistd.h prior to including asm-generic/unistd.h, and adjust all
architectures using the generic syscall list to define it so that no
in-tree architectures are affected.

942fa985e9 32-bit userspace ABI: introduce ARCH_32BIT_OFF_T config option
All new 32-bit architectures should have 64-bit userspace off_t type, but
existing architectures has 32-bit ones.

To enforce the rule, new config option is added to arch/Kconfig that defaults
ARCH_32BIT_OFF_T to be disabled for new 32-bit architectures. All existing
32-bit architectures enable it explicitly.

New option affects force_o_largefile() behaviour. Namely, if userspace
off_t is 64-bits long, we have no reason to reject user to open big files.

Note that even if architectures has only 64-bit off_t in the kernel
(arc, c6x, h8300, hexagon, nios2, openrisc, and unicore32),
a libc may use 32-bit off_t, and therefore want to limit the file size
to 4GB unless specified differently in the open flags.

4cf5892495 mm: treewide: remove unused address argument from pte_alloc functions
Patch series "Add support for fast mremap".

This series speeds up the mremap(2) syscall by copying page tables at
the PMD level even for non-THP systems. There is concern that the extra
'address' argument that mremap passes to pte_alloc may do something
subtle architecture related in the future that may make the scheme not
work. Also we find that there is no point in passing the 'address' to
pte_alloc since its unused. This patch therefore removes this argument
tree-wide resulting in a nice negative diff as well. Also ensuring
along the way that the enabled architectures do not do anything funky
with the 'address' argument that goes unnoticed by the optimization.

Build and boot tested on x86-64. Build tested on arm64. The config
enablement patch for arm64 will be posted in the future after more
testing.

The changes were obtained by applying the following Coccinelle script.
(thanks Julia for answering all Coccinelle questions!).
Following fix ups were done manually:
* Removal of address argument from pte_fragment_alloc
* Removal of pte_alloc_one_fast definitions from m68k and microblaze.

96d4f267e4 Remove 'type' argument from access_ok() function
Nobody has actually used the type (VERIFY_READ vs VERIFY_WRITE) argument
of the user address range verification function since we got rid of the
old racy i386-only code to walk page tables by hand.

It existed because the original 80386 would not honor the write protect
bit when in kernel mode, so you had to do COW by hand before doing any
user access. But we haven't supported that in a long time, and these
days the 'type' argument is a purely historical artifact.

A discussion about extending 'user_access_begin()' to do the range
checking resulted this patch, because there is no way we're going to
move the old VERIFY_xyz interface to that model. And it's best done at
the end of the merge window when I've done most of my merges, so let's
just get this done once and for all.

This patch was mostly done with a sed-script, with manual fix-ups for
the cases that weren't of the trivial 'access_ok(VERIFY_xyz' form.

There were a couple of notable cases:

 - csky still had the old "verify_area()" name as an alias.

 - the iter_iov code had magical hardcoded knowledge of the actual
values of VERIFY_{READ,WRITE} (not that they mattered, since nothing
   really used it)

 - microblaze used the type argument for a debug printout

but other than those oddities this should be a total no-op patch.

I tried to fix up all architectures, did fairly extensive grepping for
access_ok() uses, and the changes are trivial, but I may have missed
something. Any missed conversion should be trivially fixable, though.

fcf010449e kgdb patches for 4.20-rc1
Mostly clean ups although whilst Doug's was chasing down a odd
lockdep warning he also did some work to improved debugger resilience
when some CPUs fail to respond to the round up request.

 The main changes are:

  * Fixing a lockdep warning on architectures that cannot use an NMI for
the round up plus related changes to make CPU round up and all CPU
    backtrace more resilient.

  * Constify the arch ops tables

  * A couple of other small clean ups

Two of the three patchsets here include changes that spill over into
arch/. Changes in the arch space are relatively narrow in scope
(and directly related to kgdb). Didn't get comprehensive acks but
all impacted maintainers were Cc:ed in good time.

3731c3d477 dma-mapping: always build the direct mapping code
All architectures except for sparc64 use the dma-direct code in some
form, and even for sparc64 we had the discussion of a direct mapping
mode a while ago. In preparation for directly calling the direct
mapping code don't bother having it optionally but always build the
code in. This is a minor hardship for some powerpc and arm configs
that don't pull it in yet (although they should in a relase ot two),
and sparc64 which currently doesn't need it at all, but it will
reduce the ifdef mess we'd otherwise need significantly.

37c8a5fafa kbuild: consolidate Devicetree dtb build rules
There is nothing arch specific about building dtb files other than their
location under /arch/*/boot/dts/. Keeping each arch aligned is a pain.
The dependencies and supported targets are all slightly different.
Also, a cross-compiler for each arch is needed, but really the host
compiler preprocessor is perfectly fine for building dtbs. Move the
build rules to a common location and remove the arch specific ones. This
is done in a single step to avoid warnings about overriding rules.

The build dependencies had been a mixture of 'scripts' and/or 'prepare'.
These pull in several dependencies some of which need a target compiler
(specifically devicetable-offsets.h) and aren't needed to build dtbs.
All that is really needed is dtc, so adjust the dependencies to only be
dtc.

This change enables support 'dtbs_install' on some arches which were
missing the target.

a91c614510 nios2: fix building all dtbs
nios2 has a 'dtbs' target, but nothing is added to 'dtb-*' targets and
no dtbs were getting built. This enables building all the dts files in
arch/nios2/boot/dts/ when COMPILE_TEST and OF_ALL_DTBS are enabled.

1b4f9e2b0f nios2: use common rules to build built-in dtb
Using the common build support for built-in dtb files just requires
adding a .dtb.o target to obj-y.

This has the side effect that CONFIG_NIOS2_DTB_SOURCE should now be just
the dts filename in arch/nios2/boot/dts/ directory. Before any path was
supported, but if you want to build in your dtb to the kernel, it should
be in the kernel tree.

1188648698 nios2: build .dtb files in dts directory
Align nios2 with other architectures which build the dtb files in the
same directory as the dts files. This is also in line with most other
build targets which are located in the same directory as the source.
This move will help enable the 'dtbs' target which builds all the dtbs
regardless of kernel config.

This transition could break some scripts if they expect dtb files in
the old location.

1f0fe1f67c nios2: get cpu node with of_get_cpu_node
"device_type" use is deprecated for FDT though it has continued to be used
for nodes like cpu nodes. Use of_get_cpu_node() instead which works using
node names by default. This will allow the eventually removal of cpu
device_type properties.

Also, fix a leaked reference by adding a missing of_node_put.
