3a66ae512b scsi: ufs: Remove unnecessary memset for dev_info
The whole UFS host instance has been zero-initialized by scsi_host_alloc(),
thus UFS driver does not need to clear "dev_info" member specifically in
ufshcd_device_params_init().

Simply remove the unnecessary code.

3be60b564d scsi: ufs-qcom: Fix scheduling while atomic issue
ufs_qcom_dump_dbg_regs() uses usleep_range, a sleeping function, but can be
called from atomic context in the following flow:

ufshcd_intr -> ufshcd_sl_intr -> ufshcd_check_errors ->
ufshcd_print_host_regs -> ufshcd_vops_dbg_register_dump ->
ufs_qcom_dump_dbg_regs

This causes a boot crash on the Lenovo Miix 630 when the interrupt is
handled on the idle thread.

Fix the issue by switching to udelay().

5cac1095cf scsi: ufs: Make ufshcd_wait_for_register() sleep instead of busy-waiting
The ufshcd_wait_for_register() function either sleeps or spins until the
specified register has reached the desired value. Busy-waiting is not only
considered a bad practice but also has a bad impact on energy
consumption. Always sleep instead of spinning by making sure that all
ufshcd_wait_for_register() calls happen from a context where it is allowed
to sleep. The only function call that has to be moved is the
ufshcd_hba_stop() call in ufshcd_host_reset_and_restore().

6f8d5a6a78 scsi: ufs: Add LU Dedicated buffer mode support for WriteBooster
According to UFS specification, there are two WriteBooster mode of
operations: "LU dedicated buffer" mode and "shared buffer" mode. In the
"LU dedicated buffer" mode, the WriteBooster Buffer is dedicated to a
logical unit.

If the device supports the "LU dedicated buffer" mode, this mode is
configured by setting bWriteBoosterBufferType to 00h. The logical unit
WriteBooster Buffer size is configured by setting the
dLUNumWriteBoosterBufferAllocUnits field of the related Unit
Descriptor. Only a value greater than zero enables the WriteBooster feature
in the logical unit.

Modify ufshcd_wb_probe() as above description to support LU Dedicated
buffer mode.

Note that according to UFS 3.1 specification, the valid value of
bDeviceMaxWriteBoosterLUs parameter in Geometry Descriptor is 1, which
means at most one LUN can have WriteBooster buffer in "LU dedicated buffer
mode". Therefore this patch supports only one LUN with WriteBooster
enabled. All WriteBooster related sysfs nodes are specifically mapped to
the LUN with WriteBooster enabled in LU Dedicated buffer mode.

ec38c0adc0 scsi: ufs: Replace zero-length array with flexible-array
The current codebase makes use of the zero-length array language extension
to the C90 standard, but the preferred mechanism to declare variable-length
types such as these ones is a flexible array member[1][2], introduced in
C99:

struct foo {
        int stuff;
        struct boo array[];
};

By making use of the mechanism above, we will get a compiler warning in
case the flexible array does not occur last in the structure, which will
help us prevent some kind of undefined behavior bugs from being
inadvertently introduced[3] to the codebase from now on.

Also, notice that, dynamic memory allocations won't be affected by this
change:

"Flexible array members have incomplete type, and so the sizeof operator
may not be applied. As a quirk of the original implementation of
zero-length arrays, sizeof evaluates to zero."[1]

sizeof(flexible-array-member) triggers a warning because flexible array
members have incomplete type[1]. There are some instances of code in which
the sizeof operator is being incorrectly/erroneously applied to zero-length
arrays and the result is zero. Such instances may be hiding some bugs. So,
this work (flexible-array member conversions) will also help to get
completely rid of those sorts of issues.

This issue was found with the help of Coccinelle.

3d17b9b5ab scsi: ufs: Add write booster feature support
The write performance of TLC NAND is considerably lower than SLC NAND.
Using SLC NAND as a WriteBooster Buffer enables the write request to be
processed with lower latency and improves the overall write performance.

Adds support for shared-buffer mode WriteBooster.

WriteBooster enable: SW enables it when clocks are scaled up, thus it's
enabled only in high load conditions.

WriteBooster disable: SW will disable the feature, when clocks are scaled
down. Thus writes would go as normal writes.

To keep the endurance of the WriteBooster Buffer at a maximum, this
load-based toggling is adopted.

1764fa2ab9 scsi: ufs: set device as active power mode after resetting device
Currently ufshcd driver assumes that bInitPowerMode parameter is not
changed by any vendors thus device power mode can be set as "Active" during
initialization.

According to UFS JEDEC specification, device power mode shall be "Active"
after HW Reset is triggered if the bInitPowerMode parameter in Device
Descriptor is default value.

By above description, we can set device power mode as "Active" after device
reset is triggered by vendor's callback. With this change, the link startup
performance can be improved in some cases by not setting link_startup_again
as true in ufshcd_link_startup().

8033824bbf scsi: ufs-mediatek: add error recovery for suspend and resume
Once fail happens during suspend and resume flow if the desired low power
link state is H8, link recovery is required for MediaTek UFS controller.

For resume flow, since power and clocks are already enabled before invoking
vendor's resume callback, simply using ufshcd_link_recovery() inside
callback is fine.

For suspend flow, the device power enters low power mode or is disabled
before suspend callback, thus ufshcd_link_recovery() can not be directly
used in vendor callback. One solution is to set the link to off state and
then ufshcd_host_reset_and_restore() will be executed by ufshcd_suspend().

Block layer RPM is enabled for the genernal UFS SCSI devices when they are

As UFS SCSI devices have their corresponding BSG char devices, accessing a
BSG char device via IOCTL may send requests to its corresponding SCSI
device through its request queue. If BSG IOCTL sends a request to a

RPM not being enabled for the well-known SCSI devices, the HBA, which is at
the top of a SCSI device's parent chain, will not be resumed.

This change enables block layer RPM for the well-known SCSI devices so that
block layer can handle RPM for the well-known SCSI devices just like for
the general SCSI devices.

90d88f47e8 scsi: ufs: set load before setting voltage in regulators
This sequence change is required to avoid dips in voltage during boot-up.

Apparently, this dip is caused because in the original sequence, the
regulators are initialized in lpm mode. And then when the load is set to
high, and more current is drawn, than is allowed in lpm, the dip is seen.

ufshcd_add_lus(), the main functionalitis include: ICC initialization, add

called during booting stage flow ufshcd_init()->ufshcd_async_scan(). In the
processes of error handling and power management ufshcd_suspend(),
ufshcd_resume(), ufshcd_probe_hba() being called, but these functionalitis
above metioned are not hit.

2. Move context of initialization of parameters associated with the UFS
device to a new added function ufshcd_device_params_init(). The reason of
this change is that all of these parameters are used by driver, but only
need to be initialized once when booting. Combine them into an integral

a3a7639172 scsi: ufs: Use DBD setting in mode sense
UFS standard requires DBD field to be set to 1 in MODE SENSE(10).

Some card vendors are more strict and check the DBD field, hence respond
with CHECK_CONDITION (Sense key set to ILLEGAL_REQUEST and ASC set to
INVALID FIELD IN CDB). When host sends MODE SENSE for page caching, as a
result of the CHECK_CONDITION response, host assumes that the device
doesn't support the cache feature and doesn't send SYNCHRONIZE_CACHE
commands to flush the device cache. This can result in data corruption in
case of sudden power down when there is data stored in the device cache.

This patch fixes the DBD field setting as required in UFS standard.

 NCR5380, lpfc, qla2xxx, smartpqi, hisi_sas, target, mpt3sas, pm80xx
 plus a whole load of minor updates and fixes. The two major core
 changes are Al Viro's reworking of sg's handling of copy to/from user,
 Ming Lei's removal of the host busy counter to avoid contention in the
 multiqueue case and Damien Le Moal's fixing of residual tracking
 across error handling.

6d303e4b19 scsi: ufs: Fix error handing during hibern8 enter
During clock gating (ufshcd_gate_work()), we first put the link hibern8 by
calling ufshcd_uic_hibern8_enter() and if ufshcd_uic_hibern8_enter()
returns success (0) then we gate all the clocks. Now let’s zoom in to what
ufshcd_uic_hibern8_enter() does internally: It calls
__ufshcd_uic_hibern8_enter() and if failure is encountered, link recovery
shall put the link back to the highest HS gear and returns success (0) to
ufshcd_uic_hibern8_enter() which is the issue as link is still in active
state due to recovery! Now ufshcd_uic_hibern8_enter() returns success to
ufshcd_gate_work() and hence it goes ahead with gating the UFS clock while
link is still in active state hence I believe controller would raise UIC
error interrupts. But when we service the interrupt, clocks might have
already been disabled!

This change fixes for this by returning failure from
__ufshcd_uic_hibern8_enter() if recovery succeeds as link is still not in
hibern8, upon receiving the error ufshcd_hibern8_enter() would initiate
retry to put the link state back into hibern8.

To solve this issue, simply add checking to skip shutdown for above kind of
situation.

10fd71780f SCSI misc on 20190919
This is mostly update of the usual drivers: qla2xxx, ufs, smartpqi,
 lpfc, hisi_sas, qedf, mpt3sas; plus a whole load of minor updates.
 The only core change this time around is the addition of request
 batching for virtio. Since batching requires an additional flag to
 use, it should be invisible to the rest of the drivers.

b557217c84 scsi: ufs: fix broken hba->outstanding_tasks
Currently bits in hba->outstanding_tasks are cleared only after their
corresponding task management commands are successfully done by
__ufshcd_issue_tm_cmd().

If timeout happens in a task management command, its corresponding bit in
hba->outstanding_tasks will not be cleared until next task management
command with the same tag used successfully finishes.

This is wrong and can lead to some issues, like power issue. For example,
ufshcd_release() and ufshcd_gate_work() will do nothing if
hba->outstanding_tasks is not zero even if both UFS host and devices are
actually idle.

Solution is referred from error handling of device commands: bits in
hba->outstanding_tasks shall be cleared regardless of their execution
results.

Static structure ufs_hba_qcom_vops, of type ufs_hba_variant_ops, is used
only once, when it is passed as the second argument to function
ufshcd_pltfrm_init(). In the definition of ufshcd_pltfrm_init(), its second

constant. Hence declare ufs_hba_qcom_vops itself constant as well to
protect it from unintended modification. Issue found with Coccinelle.

Voltage regulators are optional, so functions must check they exist
before dereferencing.

Note this issue is hidden if CONFIG_REGULATORS is not set, because the
offending code is optimised away.

Notes for stable:

The issue first appears in commit 57d104c153 ("ufs: add UFS power
management support") but is inadvertently fixed in commit 60f0187031
("scsi: ufs: disable vccq if it's not needed by UFS device") which in
turn was reverted by commit 730679817d ("Revert "scsi: ufs: disable vccq
if it's not needed by UFS device""). So fix applies v3.18 to v4.5 and
v5.1+
