Patches from Anders Berg applied individually:
Here is version 4 of platform support for AXM5516 SoC.
The clk driver is now applied to clk-next. The rest should be ready for
arm-soc. Haven't got any response from the power/reset maintainers... I hope
this driver can be taken via arm-soc as well.
The AXM55xx family consists of devices that may contain up to 16 ARM Cortex-A15
cores (in a 4x4 cluster configuration). The cores within each cluster share an
L2 cache, and the clusters are connected to each other via a CCN-504 cache
coherent interconnect.
This machine requires CONFIG_ARM_LPAE enabled as all peripherals are located
above 4GB in the memory map.

power: reset: Add Axxia system reset driver

That code used to be in the machine code, but it's more fit here with other

That will allow to cleanup the machine directory, while waiting for a proper

Components of the Versatile Express platform (configuration
microcontrollers on motherboard and daughterboards in particular)
talk to each other over a custom configuration bus. They
provide miscellaneous functions (from clock generator control
to energy sensors) which are represented as platform devices
(and Device Tree nodes). The transactions on the bus can
be generated by different "bridges" in the system, some
of which are universal for the whole platform (for the price
of high transfer latencies), others restricted to a subsystem
(but much faster).
Until now drivers for such functions were using custom "func"
API, which is being replaced in this patch by regmap calls.
This required:
* a rework (and move to drivers/bus directory, as suggested
by Samuel and Arnd) of the config bus core, which is much
simpler now and uses device model infrastructure (class)
to keep track of the bridges; non-DT case (soon to be
retired anyway) is simply covered by a special device
registration function
* the new config-bus driver also takes over device population,
so there is no need for special matching table for
of_platform_populate nor "simple-bus" hack in the arm64
model dtsi file (relevant bindings documentation has
been updated); this allows all the vexpress devices
fit into normal device model, making it possible
to remove plenty of early inits and other hacks in
the near future
* adaptation of the syscfg bridge implementation in the
sysreg driver, again making it much simpler; there is
a special case of the "energy" function spanning two
registers, where they should be both defined in the tree
now, but backward compatibility is maintained in the code
* modification of the relevant drivers:
* hwmon - just a straight-forward API change
* power/reset driver - API change
* regulator - API change plus error handling
simplification
* osc clock driver - this one required larger rework
in order to turn in into a standard platform driver

The restart/power off implementation in the vexpress driver
used to obtain the config function when necessary. This was
wrong in two respects:
1. It required memory allocation with disabled interrupts
(it worked, but lockdep - when enabled - reported warnings).
2. Used jiffies-based timeout, while jiffies are not running
at this stage of system shutdown (therefore a config
transaction error - if happened - would have never be reported).
Fixed by pre-allocating the config function per device
and using mdelay for timeout.

Nearly all of the registers in tps65090 combine control bits and
status bits. Turn off caching of all registers except the select few
that can be cached.
In order to avoid adding more duplicate #defines, we also move some
register offset definitions to the mfd driver (and resolve
inconsistent names).

Charger-manager driver used to check battery temperature through the
callback function passed by platform data. Unfortunatley, without that
pre-defined callback function, charger-manager can't get battery's
temperature at all. Also passing callback function through platform data
ruins DT support for charger-manager.
This patch mondifies charger-manager driver to get temperature of battery
without pre-defined callback function. Now, charger-manager can use either
of battery thermometer in fuel-gauge and ouside of battery. It uses
thermal framework interface for outer thermometer if thermal fw is
enabled. Otherwise, it tries to use fuel-gauge's through the power supply
interface.

This patch adds a notifier chain to the power_supply, this helps drivers
in other subsystem to listen to changes in power supply subsystem.
This would help to take some actions in those drivers on changing the
power supply properties. One such scenario is to increase/decrease system
performance based on the battery capacity/voltage. Another scenario is to
adjust the h/w peak current detection voltage/current thresholds based on
battery voltage/capacity. The notifier helps drivers to listen to changes
in power_suppy susbystem without polling the power_supply properties

For __i386__ builds we have:
arch/x86/include/uapi/asm/ptrace-abi.h:#define SS 16
And in the driver:
BQ24190_SYSFS_FIELD_RO(vbus_stat, SS, VBUS_STAT)
That breaks the build like this:
drivers/power/bq24190_charger.c:375:138: error: ‘BQ24190_REG_16’
undeclared here (not in a function)
drivers/power/bq24190_charger.c:375:162: error:

drivers/power/bq24190_charger.c:375:203: error:

With this commit we workaround the problem by undefining 'SS'.

This patch, originally authored by Arve Hjonnevag and Todd Poynor,
prevents the system from entering suspend mode until the power supply
plug, unplug, or any other change of state event is fully processed. This
guarantees that the screen lights up and displays the battery charging
state. The implementation uses the power supply wakeup_source object.

Add driver support for the Texas Instruments BQ24190 battery charger.
Some of the information provided by the device is about the charger and
other information is about the battery so create two power_supply objects
(one for each) and provide the appropriate information for each one.
The device has many fields that go beyond what is reasonable to report or
modify using the existing 'POWER_SUPPLY_PROP_*' properties so the driver
exports the register fields via sysfs. They are prefixed by 'f_' (for
'field') to make it easier to distinguish between a register field and a
"normal" sysfs file exported by the power_supply infrastructure.

Nearly all the other goldfish peripherals (mtd, keyboard, etc) have a
dependency on the main platform's GOLDFISH Kconfig item, but this one got
skipped. Even with consistency as a justification, there was initial
resistance[1] from some people to adding it however, as they wanted the
extra compile coverage.
Now, with CONFIG_COMPILE_TEST, we have the middle ground that will give
people the coverage who want it, and let those who don't want it to skip
ever seeing the option presented.

This patch prevents NULL pointer error cauesed by unregistering
unregistered exton notifier block. At the probing time of charger manager,
it tries to remove extcon notifier block when it fails to initialize them.
It has to be applied for only registered one. Otherwise, it'd make kernel
panic. To make it work right, it checks extcon_specific_cable_nb's
extcon_dev node. If extcon cable notifier block was registered
successfully, it has proper extcon_dev pointer if not so it has NULL
pointer.

vpboundsintr_en is available inside the IP block as an re-sycned
version and one which is not. Due to this, there is an 1 sysclk
cycle window where the SR_SInterruptz signal could be asserted low.
IF, intr_en is cleared on the exact same cycle as the irqclr, an
additional pulse is generated which indicates for VP that
an additional adjustment of voltage is required.
This results in VP doing two voltage adjustments for the SRERR
(based on configuration, upto 4 steps), instead of the needed
1 step.
Due to the unexpected pulse from AVS which breaks the AVS-VP
communication protocol, VP also ends up in a stuck condition by
entering a state where VP module remains non-responsive
to any futher AVS adjustment events. This creates the symptom
called "TRANXDONE Timeout" scenario.
By disabling errgen prior to disable of intr_en, this situation
can be avoided.

on I2C only if I2C is not disabled, as Lars commented. Last version of

The pm2301-charger driver implements runtime pm and at the same time uses
the legacy pm callbacks for suspend and resume. This does not work since
the I2C core wont look at the legacy pm callbacks if a driver has the 'pm'
field set. This patch fixes it by moving over to dev_pm_ops for
suspend/resume as well.

This patch adds support for the tps65090 charger driver. This driver is
responsible for controlling the charger aspect of the tps65090 mfd.
Currently, this mainly consists of turning on and off the charger, but
some features of the charger can be supported through this driver
including:
- Enable Auto Recharge based on Battery voltage
- Fast Charge Safety Timer
- Maximum battery discharge current
- Maximum battery adapter current
- Enable External Charge
- Disable charging termination based on low charger current (supported)
Once the driver is accepted, later patches can add support for the
features above which are not yet supported.

There is a forever loop calling iio_channel_release() because the
"chan < " part of the "chan < ARRAY_SIZE()" is missing. This is in both
the error handling on probe and also in the remove function.
The other thing is that it's possible for some of the elements of the
adc_bat->channel[chan] array to be an ERR_PTR(). I've changed them to be
NULL instead. We're still not allowed to pass NULLs to
iio_channel_release() so I've added a check.

Pull a huge ab8500/pm2301 pile of changes from Lee Jones. Lee did an
awesome job cleaning this stuff up and thus brought ab8500 Stericsson's
development tree much closer to the mainline. Even more changes to come,
though.
Conflicts:

Power supply subsystem creates thermal zone device for the property
'POWER_SUPPLY_PROP_TEMP' which requires thermal subsystem to be ready
before 'ab8500 battery temperature monitor' driver is initialized. ab8500
btemp driver is initialized with subsys_initcall whereas thermal subsystem
is initialized with fs_initcall which causes
thermal_zone_device_register(...) to crash since the required structure
'thermal_class' is not initialized yet:

If charging is started before USB enumeration of an Accessory
Charger Adapter has finished, the AB8500 will generate a
VBUS_ERROR. This in turn results in timeouts and delays the
enumeration with around 15 seconds. This patch delays the
charging and then ramps currents slowly to avoid VBUS errors.
The delay allows the enumeration to have finished before
charging is turned on.

Today the battery recharge is determined with a voltage threshold. This
voltage threshold is only valid when the battery is relaxed. In charging
algorithm the voltage read is the loaded battery voltage and no
compensation is done to get the relaxed voltage. When maintenance
charging is not selected, this makes the recharging condition to almost
immediately activate when there is a discharge present on the battery.
Depending on which vendor the battery comes from this behavior can wear
out the battery much faster than normal.
The fuelgauge driver is responsible to monitor the actual battery
capacity and is able to estimate the remaining capacity. It is better to
use the remaining capacity as a limit to determine when battery should
be recharged.

Use 'platform_device' in kernel messages rather than i2c client device
node. lp8788_update_charger_params() needs additional argument, 'pdev'.
Then, remove unnecessary lp8788 private data in lp8788_irq_register().

The lp8788-charger is a platform driver of lp8788-mfd. The platform device
is allocated when mfd_add_devices() is called in lp8788-mfd. On the other
hand, 'lp->dev' is the i2c client device.
Therefore, this 'platform_device' is a proper parent device in case of
resource managed mem alloc and device kernel message.

Some devices, Buffalo Linkstation LS-XHL and LS-CHLv2 for example,
power-off by restarting to letting u-boot hold the SoC until the user

devm_kzalloc should not be followed by kfree, as this results in a double
free. The problem was found using the following semantic match
(http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/):
// <smpl>
@@
expression x,e;
@@
x = devm_kzalloc(...)
... when != x = e
?-kfree(x,...);
// </smpl>
Furthermore, in the remove function, the calls to free_irq are moved up to
prevent a possible reference in the interrupt handler to resources freed by
power_supply_unregister.

bq27x00_battery: Add support for BQ27425 chip
introduced 2 bugs.
1/ 'chip' was set to BQ27425 unconditionally - breaking support for
other devices;
2/ BQ27425 does not support cycle count, how the code still tries to
get the cycle count for BQ27425, and now does it twice for other chips.

As most of the charger chips come with two kinds of safety features
related to timing:
1. Watchdog Timer (interms of seconds/mins)
2. Safety Timer (interms of hours)
This patch adds these to fault causes in POWER_SUPPLY_PROP_HEALTH_* enums
so that whenever there is either watchdog timeout or safety timer timeout
driver could notify the user space accurately about the fault and will
also be helpful for debug.

There's no need to test whether a (delayed) work item in pending
before queueing, flushing or cancelling it. Most uses are unnecessary
and quite a few of them are buggy.
Remove unnecessary pending tests and rewrite _setup_polling() so that
it uses mod_delayed_work() if the next polling interval is sooner than
currently scheduled. queue_delayed_work() is used otherwise.
Only compile tested. I noticed that two work items - setup_polling
and cm_monitor_work - schedule each other. It's a very unusual
construct and I'm fairly sure it's racy. You can't break such
circular dependency by calling cancel on each. I strongly recommend
revising the mechanism.

"This branch contains a largeish set of updates of power management and
clock setup. The bulk of it is for OMAP/AM33xx platforms, but also a
few around hotplug/suspend/resume on Exynos.
It includes a split-up of some of the OMAP clock data into separate

Continued device tree conversion and enablement across a number of
platforms; Kirkwood, tegra, i.MX, Exynos, zynq and a couple of other
smaller series as well.
ux500 has seen continued conversion for platforms. Several platforms have
seen pinctrl-via-devicetree conversions for simpler multiplatform. Tegra
is adding data for new devices/drivers, and Exynos has a bunch of new
bindings and devices added as well.
So, pretty much the same progression in the right direction as the last

Now that we always pass platform specific battery management data
through platform_data instead of obtaining it via different means
depending the way be boot the system (DT or ATAGs); we need to
re-jiggle the way we acquire it in the driver start-up functions.
Now it is wrong for it to be missing, but we still allow Device
Tree code to fiddle with it once we've confirmed it's there.

Currently the AB8500 battery management subsystem receives platform
specific information via two different means depending on how the
platform is booted. If DT is not enabled, a reference to a *_bm_data
data structure containing each platform specific attribute is passed
though platform_data. However, if DT is enabled, then platform_data
is empty and the reference is gained though a DT specific probe
function. There are two issues here 1) the same reference is
being collected each time and 2) the DT way doesn't allow any
provisions to select different platform specific attributes, which
kind of defeats the object.
Cc: Samuel Ortiz <sameo@linux.intel.com>
Signed-off-by: Lee Jones <lee.jones@linaro.org>
The platform specific battery management configuration data structure
is currently called 'bat' short for 'battery'; however, it contains
information for all components of the battery management group, rather
than information pertaining to the battery itself - there are other
structures for that. So, in keeping with its structure namesake
'abx500_bm_data', we rename it to 'bm' here. Using similar logic,
we're also renaming 'bmdevs_of_probe' to the more device specific
'ab8500_bm_of_probe'.
Signed-off-by: Lee Jones <lee.jones@linaro.org>
We can actually write bmdevs_of_probe to be easier to follow, use
less lines of code and we can even render a variable unused so
that we can remove it completely.
