drm_debugfs_cleanup() now removes all minor->debugfs_list entries
automatically, so it's not necessary to call
drm_debugfs_remove_files(). Additionally it uses
debugfs_remove_recursive() to clean up the debugfs files, so no need
to do that.

"This is the main drm pull request for v4.11.
Nothing too major, the tinydrm and mmu-less support should make
writing smaller drivers easier for some of the simpler platforms, and
there are a bunch of documentation updates.
Intel grew displayport MST audio support which is hopefully useful to
people, and FBC is on by default for GEN9+ (so people know where to

Extend the DSI PHY/PLL drivers to support the DSI 14nm PHY/PLL
found on 8x96.
These are picked up from the downstream driver. The PHY part is similar
to the other DSI PHYs. The PLL driver requires some trickery so that
one DSI PLL can drive both the DSIs (i.e, dual DSI mode).
In the case of dual DSI mode. One DSI instance becomes the clock master,
and other the clock slave. The master PLL's output (Byte and Pixel clock)
is fed to both the DSI hosts/PHYs.
When the DSIs are configured in dual DSI mode, the PHY driver communicates
to the PLL driver using msm_dsi_pll_set_usecase() which instance is the
master and which one is the slave. When setting rate, the master PLL also
configures some of the slave PLL/PHY registers which need to be identical
to the master's for correct dual DSI behaviour.
There are 2 PLL post dividers that should have ideally been modelled as
generic clk_divider clocks, but require some customization for dual DSI.
In particular, when the master PLL's post-diviers are set, the slave PLL's
post-dividers need to be set too. The clk_ops for these use clk_divider's
helper ops and flags internally to prevent redundant code.

Create an init() op for dsi_phy which sets up things specific to
a given DSI PHY.
The dsi_phy driver probe expects every DSI version to get a
"dsi_phy_regulator" mmio base. This isn't the case for 8x96.
Creating an init() op will allow us to accommodate such
differences.

Add 8x96 DSI data in dsi_cfg. The downstream kernel's dsi_host driver
enables core_mmss_clk. We're seeing some branch clock warnings on

with not enabling this clock, so use it once we figure out why we
get the warnings.

The driver returns an error if a DSI DT node is populated, but no device
is connected to it or if the data-lane map isn't present. Ideally, such
a DSI node shouldn't be probed at all (i.e, its status should be set to
"disabled in DT"), but there isn't any harm in registering the DSI device
even if it doesn't have a bridge/panel connected to it.

This code has been more or less picked up from the vc4 and intel
implementations of update_plane() funcs for cursor planes.
The update_plane() func is usually the drm_atomic_helper_update_plane
func that will issue an atomic commit with the plane updates. Such
commits are not intended to be done faster than the vsync rate.
The legacy cursor userspace API, on the other hand, expects the kernel
to handle cursor updates immediately.
Create a fast path in update_plane, which updates the cursor registers
and flushes the configuration. The fast path is taken when there is only
a change in the cursor's position in the crtc, or a change in the
cursor's crop co-ordinates. For anything else, we go via the slow path.
We take the slow path even when the fb changes, and when there is
currently no fb tied to the plane. This should hopefully ensure that we
always take a slow path for every new fb. This in turn should ensure that
the fb is pinned/prepared.

In mdp5_plane_atomic_check, we get crtc_state from drm_plane_state.
Later, for cursor planes, we'll populate the update_plane() func that
takes a fast asynchronous path to implement cursor movements. There, we
would need to call a similar atomic_check func to validate the plane
state, but crtc_state would need to be derived differently.
Refactor mdp5_plane_atomic_check to mdp5_plane_atomic_check_with_state
such that the latter takes crtc_state as an argument.
This is similar to what the intel driver has done for async cursor
updates.

Register cursor drm_planes. The loop in modeset_init that inits the
planes and crtcs has to be refactored a bit. We first iterate all the
hwpipes to find the cursor planes. Then, we loop again to create
crtcs.
In msm_atomic_wait_for_commit_done, remove the check which bypasses
waiting for vsyncs if state->legacy_cursor_updates is true.
We will later create a fast path for cursor position changes in the
cursor plane's update_plane func that doesn't go via the regular
atomic commit path. For rest of cursor related updates, we will have
to wait for vsyncs, so ignore the legacy_cursor_updates flag.

These are various changes added in preparation for cursor planes:
- Add a pipe_cursor block for 8x96 in mdp5_cfg.
- Add a new pipe CAP called MDP_PIPE_CAP_CURSOR. Use this to ensure we
assign a cursor SSPP for a drm_plane with type DRM_PLANE_TYPE_CURSOR.
- Update mdp5_ctl_blend_mask/ext_blend_mask funcs to incorporate cursor
SSPPs.
- In mdp5_ctl_blend, iterate through MAX_STAGES instead of stage_cnt,
we need to do this because we can now have empty stages in between.
- In mdp5_crtc_atomic_check, make sure that the cursor plane has the
highest zorder, and stage the cursor plane to the maximum stage #
present on the HW.
- Create drm_crtc_funcs that doesn't try to implement cursors using the
older LM cursor HW.
- Pass drm_plane_type in mdp5_plane_init instead of a bool telling
whether plane is primary or not.

In MDP5 Layer Mixer HW, the blender output is only the blended color
components (i.e R, G and B, or COLOR0/1/2 in MDP5 HW terminology). This
is fed to the BG input of the next blender. We also need to provide an
alpha (COLOR3) value for the BG input at the next stage.
This is configured via using the REG_MDP5_LM_BLEND_COLOR_OUT register.
For each stage, we can propagate either the BG or FG alpha to the next
stage.
The approach taken by the driver is to propagate FG alpha, if the plane
staged on that blender has an alpha. If it doesn't, we try to propagate
the base layer's alpha.
This is borrowed from downstream MDP5 kernel driver. Without this, we
don't see any cursor plane content.

The MDP5 plane's atomic_check ops doesn't perform clipping tests.
This didn't hurt us much in the past, but clipping becomes important
with cursor planes.
Use drm_plane_helper_check_state, the way rockchip/intel/mtk drivers
already do. Use these drivers as reference.
Clipping requires knowledge of the crtc width and height. This requires
us to call drm_atomic_helper_check_modeset before
drm_atomic_helper_check_planes in the driver's atomic_check op, because
check_modetest will populate the mode for the crtc, needed to populate
the clip rectangle.
We update the plane_enabled(state) local helper to use state->visible,
since state->visible and 'state->fb && state->crtc' represent the same
thing.
One issue with the existing code is that we don't have a way to disable
the plane when it's completely clipped out. Until there isn't an update
on the crtc (which would de-stage the plane), we would still see the
plane in its last 'visible' configuration.

Use SSPP_NONE in mdp5_plane_pipe() if there is now hwpipe allocated for
the drm_plane. Returning '0' means we are returning VIG0 pipe.
Also, use the mdp5_pipe enum to pass around the stage array. Initialize
the stage to SSPP_NONE by default.
We do the above because 1) Cursor plane has to be staged at the topmost
blender of the LM, which can result in empty stages in between 2) In
the future, when we support multiple LMs per CRTC. We could have stages
which don't have any pipe assigned to them.

We currently create CRTCs equaling to the # of Layer Mixer blocks we
have on the MDP5 HW. This number is generally more than the # of encoders
(INTFs) we have in the MDSS HW. The number of encoders connected to
displays on the platform (as described by DT) would be even lesser.
Create only N drm_crtcs, where N is the number of drm_encoders
successfully registered. To do this, we call modeset_init_intf() before
we init the drm_crtcs and drm_planes.
Because of this change, setting encoder->possible_crtcs needs to be moved
from construct_encoder() to a later point when we know how many CRTCs we
have.

For the DSI interfaces, the mdp5_kms core creates 2 encoders for video
and command modes.
Create only a single encoder per interface. When creating the encoder, set
the interface type to MDP5_INTF_MODE_NONE. It's the bridge (DSI/HDMI/eDP)
driver's responsibility to set a different interface type. It can use the
the kms func op set_encoder_mode to change the mode of operation, which
in turn would configure the interface type for the INTF.
In mdp5_cmd_encoder.c, we remove the redundant code, and make the commmand
mode funcs as helpers that are used in mdp5_encoder.c

The mdp5 kms driver currently sets up multiple encoders per interface
(INTF), one for each kind of mode of operation it supports.
We create 2 drm_encoders for DSI, one for Video Mode and the other
for Command Mode operation. The reason behind this approach could have
been that we aren't aware of the DSI device's mode of operation when
we create the encoders.
This makes things a bit complicated, since these encoders have to
be further attached to the same DSI bridge. The easier way out is
to create a single encoder, and make the DSI driver set its mode
of operation when we know what the DSI device's mode flags are.
Start with providing a way to set the mdp5_intf_mode using a kms
func that sets the encoder's mode of operation. When constructing
a DSI encoder, we set the mode of operation to Video Mode as
default. When the DSI device is attached to the host, we probe the
DSI mode flags and set the corresponding mode of operation.

We currently create 2 encoders for DSI interfaces, one for command
mode and other for video mode operation. This isn't needed as we
can't really use both the encoders at the same time. It also makes
connecting bridges harder.
Switch to creating a single encoder. For now, we assume that the
encoder is configured only in video mode. Later, the same encoder
would be usable in both modes.

The commit "drm: bridge: Link encoder and bridge in core code" updated
the drm_bridge_attach() API to also include the drm_encoder pointer
the bridge attaches to.
The func msm_dsi_manager_bridge_init() now relies on the drm_encoder
pointer stored in msm_dsi->encoders to pass the encoder to the bridge
API.
msm_dsi->encoders is unfortunately set after this function is called,
resulting in us passing a NULL pointer to drm_brigde_attach. This
results in an error and the DSI driver probe fails.
Move the initialization of msm_dsi->encoders[] a bit up. Also, don't
try to set the encoder's bridge. That's now managed by the bridge
API.

The drm_mm range manager claimed to support top-down insertion, but it
was neither searching for the top-most hole that could fit the
allocation request nor fitting the request to the hole correctly.
In order to search the range efficiently, we create a secondary index
for the holes using either their size or their address. This index
allows us to find the smallest hole or the hole at the bottom or top of
the range efficiently, whilst keeping the hole stack to rapidly service
evictions.

Instead of receiving the num_crts as a parameter, we can read it
directly from the mode_config structure. I audited the drivers that
invoke this helper and I believe all of them initialize the mode_config
struct accordingly, prior to calling the fb_helper.
I used the following coccinelle hack to make this transformation, except
for the function headers and comment updates. The first and second
rules are split because I couldn't find a way to remove the unused

It would race between userspace thread and commit worker. Ie. vblank
irq would trigger event and userspace could begin the next atomic
update, before the commit worker had a chance to clear the pending

If we do end up needing something to prevent userspace from trying
another pageflip before getting vblank event, it should probably be
implemented as a pending_planes bitmask, similar to pending_crtcs. See

Currently the value written to CP_RB_WPTR is calculated on the fly as
(rb->next - rb->start). But as the code is designed rb->next is wrapped
before writing the commands so if a series of commands happened to
fit perfectly in the ringbuffer, rb->next would end up being equal to
rb->size / 4 and thus result in an out of bounds address to CP_RB_WPTR.
The easiest way to fix this is to mask WPTR when writing it to the
hardware; it makes the hardware happy and the rest of the ringbuffer
math appears to work and there isn't any point in upsetting anything.

On the userspace side, all the basics are working, and most of glmark2
is working. I've been working through deqp, and I've got a couple more
things to fix (but we've gone from 70% to 80+% pass in last day, and
current deqp run that is going should pick up another 5-10%). I expect
to push the mesa patches today or tomorrow.
There are a couple more a5xx related patches to take the gpu out of
secure mode (for the devices that come up in secure mode, like the hw
I have), but those depend on an scm patch that would come in through
another tree. If that can land in the next day or two, there might
be a second late pull request for drm/msm.
In addition to the new-shiny, there have also been a lot of overlay/
plane related fixes for issues found using drm-hwc2 (in the process of
testing/debugging the atomic/kms fence patches), resulting in rework
to assign hwpipes to kms planes dynamically (as part of global atomic
state) and also handling SMP (fifo) block allocation atomically as
part of the ->atomic_check() step. All those patches should also help
out atomic weston (when those patches eventually land).

Most 5XX targets have GPMU (Graphics Power Management Unit) that
handles a lot of the heavy lifting for power management including
thermal and limits management and dynamic power collapse. While
the GPMU itself is optional, it is usually nessesary to hit
aggressive power targets.
The GPMU firmware needs to be loaded into the GPMU at init time via a
shared hardware block of registers. Using the GPU to write the microcode
is more efficient than using the CPU so at first load create an indirect
buffer that can be executed during subsequent initalization sequences.
After loading the GPMU gets initalized through a shared register
interface and then we mostly get out of its way and let it do
its thing.

The adreno code inherited a silly workaround from downstream
from the bad old days before decent clock control. grp_clk[0]
(named 'src_clk') doesn't actually exist - it was used as a proxy
for whatever the core clock actually was (usually 'core_clk').
All targets should be able to correctly request 'core_clk' and
get the right thing back so zap the anachronism and directly
use grp_clk[0] to control the clock rate.

Add a new generic function to write a "64" bit value. This isn't
actually a 64 bit operation, it just writes the upper and lower
32 bit of a 64 bit value to a specified LO and HI register. If
a particular target doesn't support one of the registers it can
mark that register as SKIP and writes/reads from that register
will be quietly dropped.
This can be immediately put in place for the ringbuffer base and
the RPTR address. Both writes are converted to use
adreno_gpu_write64() with their respective high and low registers
and the high register appropriately marked as SKIP for both 32 bit
targets (a3xx and a4xx). When a5xx comes it will define valid target
registers for the 'hi' option and everything else will just work.

Add some new functions to manipulate GPU registers. gpu_read64 and
gpu_write64 can read/write a 64 bit value to two 32 bit registers.
For 4XX and older these are normally perfcounter registers, but
future targets will use 64 bit addressing so there will be many
more spots where a 64 bit read and write are needed.
gpu_rmw() does a read/modify/write on a 32 bit register given a mask
and bits to OR in.

For a5xx the gpu is 64b so we need to change iova to 64b everywhere. On
the display side, iova is still 32b so it can ignore the upper bits.

iova.)

In add_components_mdp, we parse the endpoints in MDP output ports
using the helper for_each_endpoint_of_node(). Our function calls
of_node_put() on the endpoint node before we iterate over the
next one. This is already done by the helper, and results in
trying to decrement the refcount twice.
Remove the extra of_node_put calls. This fixes warnings seen when
we try to insert the driver as a module on IFC6410.

The mode_config->max_{width,height} is for the maximum size of a fb, not
the max scanout limits (of the layer-mixer). It is legal, and in fact
common, to create a larger fb, only only scan-out a smaller part of it.
For example multi-monitor configurations for x11, or android wallpaper
layer (which is created larger than the screen resolution for fast
scrolling by just changing the src x/y coordinates).

Previously, SMP block allocation was not checked in the plane's
atomic_check() fxn, so we could fail allocation SMP block allocation at
atomic_update() time. Re-work the block allocation to request blocks
during atomic_check(), but not update the hw until committing the atomic
update.
Since SMP blocks allocated at atomic_check() time, we need to manage the
SMP state as part of mdp5_state (global atomic state). This actually
ends up significantly simplifying the SMP management, as the SMP module
does not need to manage the intermediate state between assigning new
blocks before setting flush bits and releasing old blocks after vblank.
(The SMP registers and SMP allocation is not double-buffered, so newly
allocated blocks need to be updated in kms->prepare_commit() released
blocks in kms->complete_commit().)

(re)assign the hw pipes to planes based on required caps, and to handle
situations where we could not modify an in-use plane (ie. SMP block
reallocation).
This means all planes advertise the superset of formats and properties.
Userspace must (as always) use atomic TEST_ONLY step for atomic updates,
as not all planes may be available for use on every frame.
The mapping of hwpipe to plane is stored in mdp5_state, so that state
updates are atomically committed in the same way that plane/etc state
updates are managed. This is needed because the mdp5_plane_state keeps
a pointer to the hwpipe, and we don't want global state to become out
of sync with the plane state if an atomic update fails, we hit deadlock/
backoff scenario, etc. The use of state_lock keeps multiple parallel
updates which both re-assign hwpipes properly serialized.
Signed-off-by: Rob Clark <robdclark@gmail.com>
Add basic state duplication/apply mechanism. Following commits will
move actual global hw state into this.
The state_lock allows multiple concurrent updates to proceed as long as
they don't both try to alter global state. The ww_mutex mechanism will
trigger backoff in case of deadlock between multiple threads trying to
update state.

It has been suggested that having per-plane modifiers is making life
more difficult for userspace, so let's just retire modifier[1-3] and
use modifier[0] to apply to the entire framebuffer.
Obviosuly this means that if individual planes need different tiling
layouts and whatnot we will need a new modifier for each combination
of planes with different tiling layouts.
For a bit of extra backwards compatilbilty the kernel will allow
non-zero modifier[1+] but it require that they will match modifier[0].
This in case there's existing userspace out there that sets
modifier[1+] to something non-zero with planar formats.
Mostly a cocci job, with a bit of manual stuff mixed in.

msm_gem_shrinker_cleanup() is fixed to unregister the shrinker only

Before calling kms->funcs->destroy(), we check if kms->funcs is also

The DSI/HDMI PLLs in MSM require resources like interface clocks, power
domains to be enabled before we can access their registers.
The clock framework doesn't have a mechanism at the moment where we can
tie such resources to a clock, so we make sure that the KMS driver enables
these resources whenever a PLL is expected to be in use.
One place where we can't ensure the resource dependencies are met is when
the clock framework tries to disable unused clocks. The KMS driver doesn't
know when the clock framework calls the is_enabled clk_op, and hence can't
enable interface clocks/power domains beforehand.
We set the CLK_IGNORE_UNUSED flag for PLL clocks for now. This needs to be
revisited, since bootloaders can enable display, and we would want to
disable the PLL clocks if there isn't a display driver using them.

drm_atomic_state has a complicated single owner model that tracks the
single reference from allocation through to destruction on another
thread - or perhaps on a local error path. We can simplify this tracking
by using reference counting (at a cost of a few more atomics). This is
even more beneficial when the lifetime of the state becomes more
convoluted than being passed to a single worker thread for the commit.

We'll want to be able to pass in flags, such as asking for explicit
fencing, and possibly other things down the road. Fortunately we
don't need a full 32b for the pipe-id. So use the upper 16 bits
for flags (which could be extended or reduced later if needed, so
start adding flags from the high bits).
Since anything with the upper bits set would not be a valid pipe-id,
an old userspace would not set any of the upper bits, and an old
kernel would reject it as an invalid pipe-id.

Make the following changes in the HDMI gpio bindings:
- Use "-gpios" as the suffix for all the gpio names
- Move all the gpios to optional, since there are platforms that use none
of them.
- The HPD gpio is a standard one, remove the "qcom,hdmi-tx-" prefix from
it.
- Remove the HDMI DDC clk/data gpios. They are just leftovers of an old
way to configure pinctrl properties.
- Add a missing lpm gpio used on some platforms.
Make the necessary changes in the driver to incorporate these changes.
There hasn't been any upstream DT that uses the HDMI bindings, so it's
okay to change and move around these properties.

The LVDS port is the first in the list of the output ports in MDP4.
The driver assumed that if the port and its corresponding endpoint
is defined, then there should be a panel node too. This isn't
necessary since boards may not really use a LVDS panel. Don't fail
if there isn't a panel node available.
While we're at it, use of_graph_get_endpoint_by_regs instead of
of_graph_get_next_endpoint to make it more explicit that the LVDS
output is at port 0.

Drivers may set the NO_DISABLE_AFTER_MODESET flag in the 'flags' parameter
of the helper drm_atomic_helper_commit_planes() if the relevant display
controllers(e.g., IPUv3 for imx-drm) require to disable a CRTC's planes
when the CRTC is disabled. The helper would skip the ->atomic_disable
call for a plane if the CRTC of the old plane state needs a modesetting
operation. Of course, the drivers need to disable the planes in their CRTC
disable callbacks since no one else would do that.

The dma-mapping core and the implementations do not change the DMA
attributes passed by pointer. Thus the pointer can point to const data.
However the attributes do not have to be a bitfield. Instead unsigned
long will do fine:
1. This is just simpler. Both in terms of reading the code and setting
attributes. Instead of initializing local attributes on the stack
and passing pointer to it to dma_set_attr(), just set the bits.
2. It brings safeness and checking for const correctness because the
attributes are passed by value.

The DSI host and PHY driver currently expects the DT bindings to provide
custom properties "qcom,dsi-host-index" and "qcom,dsi-phy-index" so that
the driver can identify which DSI instance it is.
The binding isn't acceptable, but the driver still needs to figure out
what its instance id. This is now done by storing the mmio starting
addresses for each DSI instance in every SoC version in the driver. The
driver then identifies the index number by trying to match the stored
address with comparing the resource start address we get from DT.
We don't have compatible strings for DSI PHY on each SoC, but only the
DSI PHY type. We only support one SoC version for each PHY type, so we
get away doing the same thing above for the PHY driver. We can revisit
this when we support two SoCs with the same DSI PHY.

Introduce new compatible strings for the top level MDSS wrapper device,
and the MDP5 device.
Previously, the "qcom,mdp5" and "qcom,mdss_mdp" compatible strings
were used to match the top level platform_device (which was also tied
to the top level drm_device struct). Now, these strings are used
to match the MDP5 platform device.
Use "qcom, mdss" as the compatible string for top level MDSS device.
This is now used to match the top level platform_device (which is
tied to the drm_device struct).

The driver currently identifies the GPU components it needs by parsing
a phandle list from the 'gpus' DT property.
This isn't the right binding to go with. So, for now, just search all
device nodes and find the gpu node we need by parsing a list of
compatible strings.
Once we know how to link the kms and gpu drivers, we'll drop this method
and use the correct binding.

For MDP5 based platforms, the master device isn't the MDP5 platform
device, but the top level MDSS device, which is a parent to MDP5 and
interface (DSI, HDMI, eDP etc) devices.
In order to add components on MDP5 platforms, we first need to populate
the MDSS children, locate the MDP5 child, and then parse its ports to
get the display interfaces.

The kms driver currently identifies all the mdss components it needs by
parsing a phandle list from the 'connectors' DT property.
Instead of this, describe a list of ports that the MDP hardware provides
to the external world. These ports are linked to external encoder
interfaces such as DSI, HDMI. These are also the subcomponent devices
that we need add. This description of ports complies with the generic
graph bindings.
The LVDS port is a special case since it is a part of MDP4 itself, and
its output connects directly to the LVDS panel. In this case, we don't
try to add it as a component.

Since runtime PM isn't implemented yet, we need to call
mdp5_enable/disable in a few more places. These would later be
replaced by runtime PM get/put calls.

With the new device hierarchy for MDP5, we need to enable runtime PM
for both the toplevel MDSS device and the MDP5 device itself. Enable
runtime PM for the new devices.
Since MDP4 and MDP5 now have different places where runtime PM is
enabled, remove the previous pm_runtime_enable/disable calls, and
squash them in the respective kms drivers.
The new device hierarchy (as expressed in the DT bindings) has the GDSC
tied only to the MDSS wrapper device. This GDSC needs to be enabled for
accessing any register in the MDSS sub-blocks. Once every driver is
runtime adapted, the GDSC will be enabled when any sub-block device
calls runtime_get because of the parent-child relationship with MDSS.
Until then, we call pm_runtime_get_sync() once for the MDSS device to
ensure the GDSC is never disabled. This will be removed once all the
drivers are runtime PM adapted.
The error handling paths become a bit tricky when we call these runtime
PM funcs. There doesn't seem to be any helper that checks if runtime PM
is enabled already. Add bool variables in mdp4_kms/mdp5_kms structs to
check if the driver had managed to call pm_runtime_enable before bailing
out.

The MDP5 sub-block register offsets are relative to the top level
MDSS register address.
Now that we have the start of MDP5 register address space, provide
the offsets relative to that. This involves subtracting the offsets
with 0x1000 or 0x100 depending on the MDP5 version.

Since MDSS registers were stuffed within the the MDP5 register
space, we had an __offset_MDP() macro to identify the offset
between the start of MDSS and MDP5 address spaces. This offset
macro expected a MDP index argument, which didn't make much
sense since we don't have multiple MDPs.
The offset is no longer needed now that we have devices for the 2
different register address spaces. Also, remove the "REG_MDP5_MDP_"
prefix to "REG_MDP5_".
Update the generated headers in mdp5.xml.h
We generally update headers as a separate patch, but we need to
do these together to prevent breaking build.

Call msm_mdss_init in msm_drv to set up top level registers/irq line.
Start using the new kms_init2/destroy2 funcs to inititalize MDP5 KMS.
With the MDSS interrupt and irqdomain set up, the old MDP5 irq code
can be dropped.
The mdp5_hw_init kms func now uses the platform device tied to MDP5
instead of the one tied to the drm_device/MDSS.

With MDP5 as a new device, we need to do less for MDP when initializing
modeset after all the components are bound.
Create mdp5_kms_init2/destroy2 funcs that inits modeset. These will
eventually replace the older kms_init/destroy funcs.
In the new kms_init2, the platform_device used is the one corresponding
to the new MDP5 platform_device. The new change here is that the irq is
now retrieved using irq_of_parse_and_map(), since MDP5 is a child interrupt
of the MDSS interrupt controller.

In order to have a tree-like device hierarchy between MDSS and its
sub-blocks (MDP5, DSI, HDMI, eDP etc), we need to create a separate
device/driver for MDP5. Currently, MDP5 and MDSS are squashed
together are are tied to the top level platform_device, which is
also the one used to create drm_device.
The mdp5_kms_init code is split into two parts. The part where device
resources are allocated are associated with the MDP5 driver's probe,
the rest is executed later when we initialize modeset.
With this change, unlike MDP4, the MDP5 platform_device isn't tied to
the top level drm_device anymore. The top level drm_device is now
associated with a platform device that corresponds to MDSS wrapper
hardware.
Create mdp5_init/destroy funcs that will be used by the MDP5 driver
probe/remove. Use the HW_VERSION register in the MDP5 register address
space. Both the MDSS and MDP VERSION registers give out identical
version info.
The older mdp5_kms_init code is left as is for now, this would be removed
later when we have all the pieces to support the new device hierarchy.

SoCs that contain MDP5 have a top level wrapper called MDSS that manages
clocks, power and irq for the sub-blocks within it.
Currently, the MDSS portions are stuffed into the MDP5 driver. This makes
it hard to represent the DT bindings in the correct way. We create a top
level MDSS helper that handles these parts. This is essentially moving out
some of the mdp5_kms irq code and MDSS register space and keeping it as a
separate entity. We haven't given any clocks to the top level MDSS yet,
but a AHB clock would be added in the future to access registers.
One thing to note is that the resources allocated by this helper are
tied to the top level platform_device (the one that allocates the
drm_device struct too). This device would be the parent to MDSS
sub-blocks like MDP5, DSI, eDP etc.

The driver gets the irq number using platform_get_irq on the main kms
platform device. This works fine since both MDP4 and MDP5 currently
have a flat device hierarchy. The platform device tied with the
drm_device points to the MDP DT node in both cases.
This won't work when MDP5 supports a tree-like hierarchy. In this
case, the platform device tied to the top level drm_device is the
MDSS DT node, and the irq we need for KMS is the one generated by
MDP5, not MDSS.
Get the irq number from the MDP4/5 kms driver itself. Each driver
can later provide the irq number based on what device hierarchy it
uses.
While we're at it, call drm_irq_install only when we have a valid KMS
driver.

A more standard DT binding describing data lanes already exists here:
Documentation/devicetree/bindings/media/video-interfaces.txt
Use this binding instead of "qcom,data-lane-map". One difference
in the standard binding w.r.t to the existing binding is that it
provides a logical to physical mapping instead of the other way
round. Tweak the code to translate the data the way we want it.
The MSM DSI DT bindings aren't used anywhere at the moment, so

The DSI interface is going to have two ports defined in its device node.
The first port is always going to be the link between the MDP output

the DSI output and the connected panel/bridge:

Fix some issues with MDP4 clocks:
- mdp4_dtv_encoder tries to get "src_clk", which is a RCG(TV_SRC) in
MSM8960 and APQ8064. This isn't something the driver should access or
configure. Instead of this, configure the "mdp_clk" (MDP_TV_CLK), a
branch clock in MMCC that has the TV_SRC as its parent. Setting
rate/enabling the "mdp_clk" will eventually configure "src_clk", which
is what we want.
- Rename "mdp_clk" to "tv_clk" because that's slightly less confusing.
- Rename "mdp_axi_clk" to "bus_clk" because that's what we do elsewhere
too.

The driver expects DT to provide the parent to MDP core clock. The only

Linux 4.7-rc5
The fsl-dcu pull needs -rc3 so go to -rc5 for now.
We already have a fallback in place to fill out the unique from
dev->unique, which is set to something reasonable in drm_dev_alloc.
Which means we only need to have a special set_busid for pci devices,
to be able to care the backwards compat code for drm 1.1 around, which
libdrm still needs.
While developing and testing this patch things blew up in really
interesting ways, and the code is rather confusing in naming things
between the kernel code, ioctl #defines and libdrm. For the next brave
dragon slayer, document all this madness properly in the userspace
interface section of gpu.tmpl.

followed by drm_connector_register_all(). Now that
drm_connector_register() is safe against multiple invocations, we can
move drm_connector_register_all() to drm_dev_register() and not suffer
from any backwards compatibility issues with drivers not following the
more rigorous init ordering.

The load/unload drm_driver ops are deprecated. They should be removed as
they result in creation of devices visible to userspace even before
the drm_device is registered.
Drop these ops and use drm_dev_alloc/register and drm_dev_unregister/unref
to explicitly create and destroy the drm device in the msm platform
driver's bind and unbind ops. With this in use, the drm connectors are
only registered once the drm_device is registered.
It also fixes the issue of stray debugfs files after the msm module is
removed. With this, all the debugfs files are removed, and allows
successive module insertions/removals.

Move the drm_connector registration from the encoder(HDMI/DSI etc) drivers
to the msm platform driver. This will simplify the task of ensuring that
the connectors are registered only after the drm_device itself is
registered.
The connectors' destroy ops are made to use kzalloc instead of
devm_kzalloc to ensure that that the connectors can be successfully
unregistered when the msm driver module is removed. The memory for the
connectors is unallocated when drm_mode_config_cleanup() is called
during either during an error or during driver remove.

The MDP4 driver tries to request and set voltages for regulators required
by the DSI PLLs.
Firstly, the MDP4 driver shouldn't manage the DSI regulators, this should
be handled in the DSI driver. Secondly, it shouldn't try to set a fixed
voltage for regulators. Voltage constraints should be specified on the
regulator via DT and managed by the regulator core.
Remove all the DSI PLL regulator related code from the MDP4 driver. It's
managed in the DSI driver for MSM8960/APQ8064 already.

The eDP driver tries to set a fixed voltage for one of its regulators(vdda)
before enabling it. This shouldn't be done by the driver, the voltage
constraints should be specified on the regulator via DT and managed by
the regulator core. A driver should call regulator_set_voltage only if
it needs to change the voltage during runtime. Drop the
regulator_set_voltage call. Mention in a comment the voltage that the
regulator expects.

The voltage changing code in this driver is broken and should be
removed. The driver sets a single, exact voltage on probe. Unless
there is a very good reason for this (which should be documented in
comments) constraints like this need to be set via the machine
constraints, voltage setting in a driver is expected to be used in cases
where the voltage varies at runtime.
In addition client drivers should almost never be calling
regulator_can_set_voltage(), if the device needs to set a voltage it
needs to set the voltage and the regulator core will handle the case
where the regulator is fixed voltage. If the driver simply skips
setting the voltage if it doesn't have permission then it should just
not bother in the first place.

Global symbols in the kernel should be prefixed by the name
of the subsystem and/or driver to avoid conflicts when all
code is built-in.
In this case, function names like 'hdmi_register' or 'hdmi_set_mode'
are way too generic for an MSM specific DRM driver, so I'm renaming
them all to msm_hdmi_* here.
I also rename a lot of the 'static' symbols along with the global

they might only be slightly confusing when they show up in

The DSI driver is currently unaware of how the DSI physical data lanes
are mapped to the logical lanes provided by the DSI controller.
Create a DT binding "qcom,data-lane-map" that provides this information
on a given platform.
The MSM DSI controller is restricted in terms of what all mappings
it can support. The lane polarity is fixed for all the lanes, the clock
lanes are fixed, and the data lanes can be swapped among each other only
for a few combinations. Apply these restrictions when we parse the DT

Add a helper to initialize PLL in the PHY driver. HDMI PLLs are going to
have their own mmio base different from that of PHY.
For the clock code in hdmi_phy_8960.c, some changes were needed for it to
work with the updated register offsets. Create a copy of the updated clock
code in hdmi_pll_8960.c, instead of rewriting it in hdmi_phy_8960.c
itself. This removes the need to place CONFIG_COMMON_CLOCK checks all
around, makes the code more legible, and also removes some old checkpatch
warnings with the original code.
The older hdmi pll clock ops in hdmi_phy_8960.c will be removed later. The
driver will use these until the HDMI PHY/PLL register offsets aren't
considered as separate domains (i.e. their offsets start from 0).

Create a PHY device that represents the TX PHY and PLL parts of the HDMI
block.
This makes management of PHY specific resources (regulators and clocks)
much easier, and makes the PHY and PLL usable independently. It also
simplifies the core HDMI driver, which currently assigns phy ops among
many other things.
The PHY driver implementation done here is very similar to the PHY driver
we already have for DSI.
Keep the old hdmi_phy_funcs ops for now. The driver will use these until
the HDMI PHY/PLL register offsets aren't considered as separate
domains (i.e. their offsets start from 0).
The driver doesn't use the common PHY framework for now. This is because
it's hard to map our ops with the ops provided by the framework. The
bindings used for this is the generic phy bindings. So, this can be
adapted to the PHY framework in the future, if possible.

Make gpio allocation and usage iterative by parsing the gpios on a given
platform from a list. This gives us flexibility over what all gpios exist
for a platform, whether they are input or output, and what value they
should be set to.
In particular, this will make HDMI on 8x96 platforms easier to integrate
with the driver, as it doesn't have a HPD gpio input to them. Also, it
cleans things up a bit.
We still use the legacy gpio api here, as we might need to backport this

We currently use iommu allocated DMA buffers for sending DSI commands.
DSIv2 doesn't have a port connected to the MDP iommu. Therefore, it
can't use iommu allocated buffers to fetch DSI commands.
Use a regular contiguous DMA buffer if we are DSIv2.

DSIv2 (DSI on older A family chips) has slightly different link clock
requirements.
First, we have an extra clock called src_clk (with a dedicated RCG).
This is required by the DSI controller to process the pixel data
coming from MDP. It needs to be set at the rate "pclk * bytes_per_pixel".
We also need to explicitly configure esc_clk. On DSI6G chips, we don't
need to set a rate to esc_clk because its RCG is always sourced from
crystal clock (19.2 Mhz in all cases), which is within the escape clock
frequency range in the mipi DSI spec. For chips with DSIv2, the crystal
clock rate may not be within the required range (27Mhz on APQ8064).
Therefore, we derive it from the DSI byte clock. We calculate an esc_clck
rate that is within the mipi spec and also divisible by the byte clock
rate.
When setting rate and enabling the link clocks, we make sure that byte_clk
is configured before esc_clk, and src_clk before pixel_clk. We create two
different link_enable funcs for DSI6G and DSIv2 since the sequences are
different.
We also obtain two extra source clocks (dsi_src_clk and esc_src_clk) and
set their parent to the clocks provided by DSI PLL.

DSI bus clocks seem to vary between different DSI host versions, and the
SOC to which they belong. Even the enable/disable sequence varies.
Provide a list of bus clock names in dsi_cfg. The driver will use this to
retrieve the clocks, and enable/disable them.
Add bus clock lists for DSI6G, and DSI for MSM8916(this is DSI6G too, but
there is no MMSS_CC specific clock since there is no MMSS clock controller
on 8916).

Initialize clocks only after we get the DSI host version. This will allow
us to get clocks using a pre-defined list based on the DSI major/minor
version of the host. This is required since clock requirements of
different major DSI revisions(v2 vs 6g) aren't the same.
Modify dsi_get_version to get the interface clock, and then put it after
it is used.

The current version checking mechanism works fine for DSI6G blocks. It
doesn't work so well for older generation DSIv2 blocks.
The initial read of REG_DSI_6G_HW_VERSION(offset 0x0) would result in a
read of REG_DSI_CTRL for DSIv2. This register won't necessarily be 0 on
DSIv2. It can be non zero if DSI was previously initialized by the
bootloader.
Instead of reading offset 0x0, we now read offset 0x1f0. For DSIv2, this
register is DSI_VERSION, and is bound to be non-zero. On DSI6G, this
register(offset 0x1f0) is SCRATCH_REGISTER_0, which no one ever seems to
touch, and from all register dumps I'vc seen, holds 0 all the time.
Modify dsi_get_version to read REG_DSI_VERSION to determine whether we
are DSI6G or DSIv2.

Add DSI PLL common clock framework clocks for 8960 PHY.
The PLL here is different from the ones found in B family msm chips. As
before, the DSI provides two clocks to the outside world. dsixpll and
dsixpllbyte (x = 1, 2). dsixpll is a regular clock divider, but
dsixpllbyte is modelled as a custom clock divider.
dsixpllbyte is the starting point of the PLL configuration. It is the
one that sets up the VCO clock rate. We need the VCO clock rate in the
form: F * byteclk, where F is a multiplication factor that varies on
the byte clock the DSI driver is trying to set. We use the custom
clk_ops for dsixpllbyte to ensure that the parent (VCO) is set at this
rate.
An additional divider (POSTDIV1) generates the bitclk. Since bit clock
can be derived from byteclock, we calculate it internally, and don't
expose it as a clock.

We retrieve the byte and pixel source clocks (RCG clocks) in the dsi
driver via DT. These are needed so that we can re-parent these source
clocks if we want to drive it using a different DSI PLL.
We shouldn't get these via DT because they aren't clocks that directly
serve as inputs to the dsi host.
Fortunately, there is a static parent-child link between the
byte_clk_src/pixel_clk_src and byte_clk/pixel_clk clocks. So, we can
retrieve the source clocks via clk_get_parent.
Do this instead of retrieving via DT.

Currently, the driver defers if it doesn't find a drm_panel. This forces
us to have a drm_panel, if not, the driver isn't usable.
Make the lcdc encoder initialization independent of the availability of
the drm panel. We only check if there is a panel node specified in DT. If
it isn't, then we don't initialize the encoder at all. The panel node is
passed to the lcdc encoder and lvds connector drivers.
The connector driver takes the responsibility to retrieve the drm_panel
from the panel node, and update the status on whether the panel is
connected or not. This makes the panel usable even if the drm_panel
driver is inserted as a module later on.

The line counter starts with the value 1 at the beginning of the VSYNC

In order to produce an image, the scalar needs to be fed extra
pixels. These top/bottom/left/right values depend on a various of
factors, including resolution, scaling type, phase step and
initial phase.
Pixel Extension are programmed by hardware in most targets - and
can be overwritten by software. For some targets (e.g.: msm8996),
software *must* program those registers.
In order to ease this computation, let's always use bilinear
filters, which are easier to program from kernel. Eventually,
all of these values will come down from user space for better

Merge tag 'v4.3-rc2' into topic/drm-misc
Backmerge Linux 4.3-rc2 because of conflicts in the dp helper code
between bugfixes and new code. Just adjacent lines really.
On top of that there's a silent conflict in the new fsl-dcu driver

set_irq_flags is ARM specific with custom flags which have genirq
equivalents. Convert drivers to use the genirq interfaces directly, so we
can kill off set_irq_flags. The translation of flags is as follows:
IRQF_VALID -> !IRQ_NOREQUEST
IRQF_PROBE -> !IRQ_NOPROBE
IRQF_NOAUTOEN -> IRQ_NOAUTOEN
For IRQs managed by an irqdomain, the irqdomain core code handles clearing
and setting IRQ_NOREQUEST already, so there is no need to do this in
.map() functions and we can simply remove the set_irq_flags calls. Some
users also modify IRQ_NOPROBE and this has been maintained although it
is not clear that is really needed. There appears to be a great deal of
blind copy and paste of this code.

With drivers supporting runtime pm it's generally not a good idea to
touch the hardware when it's off. Add an option to the commit_planes
helper to support this case.
Note that the helpers already add all planes on a crtc when a modeset
happens, hence plane updates will not be lost if drivers set this to
true.
v2: Check for NULL state->crtc before chasing the pointer. Also check
both old and new crtc if there's a switch. Finally just outright
disallow switching crtcs for a plane if the plane is in active use, on
most hardware that doesn't make sense.
v3: Since commit_planes(active_only = true) is for enabling things
only after all the crtc are on we should only look at the new crtc to
decide whether to call the plane hooks - if the current CRTC isn't on
then skip. If the old crtc (when moving a plane) went down then the
plane should have been disabled as part of the pipe shutdown work
already. For which there's currently no helper really unfortunately.
Also move the check for wether a plane gets a new CRTC assigned while
still in active use out of this patch.
v4: Rebase over exynos changes.

There are platforms where the DSI output can be connected to another
encoder bridge chip (DSI to HDMI, DSI to LVDS etc).
Add support for external bridge support to the dsi driver. We assume that
the external bridge chip would be of the type drm_bridge. The dsi driver's
internal drm_bridge (msm_dsi->bridge) is linked to the external bridge's
drm_bridge struct.
In the case we're connected to an external bridge, we don't need to create
and manage a connector within our driver, it's the bridge driver's
responsibility to create one.

Create a helper msm_dsi_device_connected() which checks whether we have a
device connected to the dsi host or not. This check gets messy when we
have support external bridges too. Having an inline function makes it
more legible.
For now, the check only consists of msm_dsi->panel being non-NULL. Later,
this will check if we have an external bridge or not.
This helper isn't used in dsi_connector related code as that's specific

panel is forced to be a child to the dsi host, and hence, a mipi dsi
device. This isn't suitable for dsi devices that don't use mipi dsi
as their control bus.
Follow the of_graph approach of creating ports and endpoints to
represent the connections between the dsi host and the panel connected
to it. In our case, the dsi host will only have one output port, linked
to the panel's input port.
Update DT binding documentation with device graph usage info.
v3:
- Fix return value checks of of_graph_* calls.
- Don't make port a mandatory DT property
- Fix defer check when no panel node specified
- Rename parse_dt func to align with other dsi_host funcs
