time: Add an asm-generic/compat.h file We have a couple of files that try to include asm/compat.h on architectures where this is available. Those should generally use the higher-level linux/compat.h file, but that in turn fails to include asm/compat.h when CONFIG_COMPAT is disabled, unless we can provide that header on all architectures. This adds the asm/compat.h for all remaining architectures to simplify the dependencies. Architectures that are getting removed in linux-4.17 are not changed here, to avoid needless conflicts with the removal patches. Doing a diff of arch/arm/include/asm and include/asm-generic there are numerous asm headers which are functionally identical to their asm-generic counterparts. Delete the ARM version and use the generic ones. ARM: add support for generic early_ioremap/early_memremap This enables the generic early_ioremap implementation for ARM. It uses the fixmap region reserved for kmap. Since early_ioremap is only supported before paging_init(), and kmap is only supported afterwards, this is guaranteed not to cause any clashes. Since the generic version of sizes.h doesn't contain SZ_48M, we replace the 4 users of SZ_48M with the equivalent SZ_32M + SZ_16M. binfmt_flat: provide an asm-generic/flat.h This file implements the flat get/put reloc helpers for architectures that do not need to overload the relocs by simply using get_user/put_user. Note that many nommu architectures currently use {get,put}_unaligned, which looks a little bogus and should probably later be switched over to this version as well. mm: clean up per architecture MM hook header files Commit 2ae416b142b6 ("mm: new mm hook framework") introduced an empty header file (mm-arch-hooks.h) for every architecture, even those which doesn't need to define mm hooks. As suggested by Geert Uytterhoeven, this could be cleaned through the use of a generic header file included via each per architecture asm/include/Kbuild file. The PowerPC architecture is not impacted here since this architecture has to defined the arch_remap MM hook. tracing,x86: Add a TSC trace_clock In order to promote interoperability between userspace tracers and ftrace, add a trace_clock that reports raw TSC values which will then be recorded in the ring buffer. Userspace tracers that also record TSCs are then on exactly the same time base as the kernel and events can be unambiguously interlaced. ARM: convert to generated system call tables Convert ARM to use a similar mechanism to x86 to generate the unistd.h system call numbers and the various kernel system call tables. This means that rather than having to edit three places (asm/unistd.h for the total number of system calls, uapi/asm/unistd.h for the system call numbers, and arch/arm/kernel/calls.S for the call table) we have only one place to edit, making the process much more simple. The scripts have knowledge of the table padding requirements, so there's no need to worry about __NR_syscalls not fitting within the immediate constant field of ALU instructions anymore.
